Eric, the owner, told me that about 60% of the guests are repeat visitors. Based on our experience, I believe it. Everyone who works there is warm and welcoming. We felt like regulars, not newcomers, right away. The location is quiet, but only a five minute walk to the heart of downtown Easton. Very convenient for concerts, restaurants, And events. Sidenote: in my next life I want to come back as a dog in a bed-and-breakfast Inn. The Hummingbird's dog, Birdie, is definitely living a great life. read more

We had a lovely overnight stay at The Hummingbird Inn. They knew it was our anniversary, so there was a Happy Anniversary banner in the room, and the wine I had ordered came with a tray of chocolates. We were in room #1, the St. Michael's room. It had a nice view of the shady lane and a big bath. We enjoyed sitting out on the covered front porch, and we admired all the garden plantings (mostly native species designed to attract hummingbirds and pollinators). They serve my favorite Rise Up Coffee. Breakfast was wonderful--there was a choice of an Italian baked egg dish or French toast. I enjoyed a Hummingbird Bellini with my breakfast. This bed and breakfast could not have been better! Eric and Michael are two of the most thoughtful, kindest, and genuinely amazing people I've met. They genuinely care about the guests. We usually stay in St Michaels but this time decided on Easton when I came upon the Hummingbird Inn while checking on lodging. So glad we found this place. This is what you'd expect of a perfect B&B - charming Victorian house complete with a big covered wrap around porch and turret on the corner, unique, spacious rooms all with interesting features, and the freshly prepared 3 course gourmet breakfast in the bright, exquisitely decorated dining room complete with white table cloth. Rooms all updated even when retaining traditional features. We had the Tilghman Island room on the third (top) floor - with vaulted ceilings (parts of the arches a bit low so need to watch your head), big bathroom with shower and tub - latter claw footed and sits by a window - bath with a view! This is a most comfortable room for two although it has two daybeds and a wooden baby cot so can accommodate more, nice seating especially in the natural light filled rounded turret sitting area. Aircon is centrally regulated by the host so you need to let him know whether the temp is comfortable. All rooms are on second and third floor, no elevator. This is a B&B you'd want to return to - try a different room each time! Only thing about our room that could use improvement is that the blinds are not light blocking, especially the half moon one above one of the day beds - with only lace curtains, so although the place is exceedingly quiet if you are sensitive to light you will wake up too early. No coffee making facilities in room but self service is available from 7 am in the dining room where there is a fridge with drinks and snacks and a shelf to keep any food you might have. Location is central - just a few blocks to downtown shops and restaurants. Free parking on property. read more

We went to the Hummingbird Inn to get engaged and were so lucky to have them as a part of our wedding story of getting engaged under the willow tree in the garden. Not only did they make us feel so at home, but we were so pampered. The breakfast in the morning made by Chef Eric was absolutely delicious! We had a wonderful stay at the Hummingbird Inn! The innkeeper, Eric, is gracious and welcoming, and his assistant Tina made sure we knew of all the amenities the inn has to offer. We especially enjoyed reading on the front porch and visiting with the other guests. There are also lots of nooks and crannies in the garden for privacy if you want that. By far one of the best B&Bs I've been to. We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of September for Ironman Maryland. I was a late registration, so a lot of places were sold out. Luckily, a room opened up at the Hummingbird Inn and I booked it. From the moment I checked in, I knew a got super lucky with this find. Eric checked me in and gave me a tour of the house. I then joined Eric and a couple other guests (also doing IMMD) in the parlor for some wine. Had a great time! Over the four night we spent at the Hummingbird, we made some good friends with other guests and Eric. We really can't wait to return! The breakfasts are amazing! Eric works miracles with food! Also, unlike other B&Bs I've been to, Eric gives a choice of two breakfasts and three sides. We tried different items each day because it was all amazing! The Inn is very well appointed and is done right! Eric really thought of everything, while still managing to maintain the charm of a Victorian home. We stayed in the Cambridge Room. The online photos don't do it justice. It's a very nice room with a fireplace and a sitting area. Very spacious room. The bathroom is a little small, but well appointed. I was pleasantly surprised at the shower. Great water pressure and spacious. Bed was super comfortable. Built-in USB ports on both sides of the bed in the outlet. Not a feature usually found in a Victorian B&B. In respect to the Ironman, this was an excellent spot to stay. I was a little concerned not staying in Cambridge. I'm usually a host hotel kinda guy. But, this place was perfect! Cambridge is an easy drive. There are several places in Cambridge you can reserve parking for the entire race week that's right at transition and the expo. Plus, Easton is a great town with some amazing restaurants. If I do IMMD again, I'll definitely stay here. This place is every bit of a 5 star B&B. Honestly, I can't wait to come back. read more

My brother and I really enjoyed our stay. Eric gave us excellent advice on bike shops, restaurants, cycling suggestions, kayaking suggestions, and which room to select. Have never stayed at the HBI but have white-linen dined there and have greatly enjoyed "porch time" on several occasions. I must say, the grounds and Inn are impeccably maintained with an old world Victorian appeal. Eric as the Innkeeper and chef, has always prepared superb meals and he and his staff are all very friendly. Eric has hosted several events throughout the year, and the last one I attended was "Wine 101." It was an excellent event and I learned a lot from it. Eric and Michael never cease to please. We spent a lovely one night in September at the Hummingbird Inn in Easton, Md. Our experience was fabulous and the innkeeper, Eric, was very warm and welcoming. He reassured us about all of his COVID precautions to make our stay safe. One is that he is now doing two seatings for breakfast so that he can space the tables in a COVID-safe manner. The inn, which dates to the late 19th century, is lovingly maintained and is in a central location in Easton. It is within walking distance to the downtown area, which features many lovely shops, restaurants and bars. Because it was a little chilly the evening we were there, we did not get a chance to enjoy the spacious front porch, but if you are visiting in warmer weather, you should take some time to relax on the front porch. I highly recommend both the Hummingbird Inn and Easton as getaway destinations for a weekend or more. In addition to Easton, there is plenty to do in the area with St. Michaels, Tilghman Island, Oxford, and Cambridge all close by. When we were moving our daughter into her new home in North Carolina, we decided to find a place to stay on our way back on our drive to Connecticut. Because we also were going to have our yellow Labrador Ziva, it also had to be pet friendly. After a bit of research we settled on the Hummingbird Inn in Easton MD. It offered everything we needed but turned into such a wonderful memorable stay! When we arrived with Ziva the charming Eric told us about the inn and brought us to our room. We stayed in the Tilgman Island Room, which was stunning! The arches, windows, décor, everything oozed Victorian charm. Then add in the huge bathroom with a clawfoot tub! My goodness it was lovely! The inn itself is exquisite and so charming. Although we were there during the colder weather the front porch looked like a summertime fantasy with its grand width, plump chairs and music. The location of the Inn is also ideal and we loved being able to walk anywhere in Easton. Having never been to Easton before we were charmed by the town and all its stores and restaurants. After dinner we came back to Eric and two other couples in the sitting room with a beautiful grand piano. We learned the couples had stayed at the Inn often and keep returning. We must have sat down with a bottle of wine and talked for hours with them, hearing the stories about the Inn, Eric's love of food, cooking and his fascinating story of how he ended up at the Inn from New York City. All the while Ziva was plopped down on the floor asleep after getting her fill of ear scratches. We slept perfectly and awoke to the smells of breakfast..and oh what a breakfast! Our server Beverly was a delight and we were given homemade raisin bread with home made raisins...yes people not store bought raisins but homemade! Then a cherry chocolate bread that I would have bought an entire loaf! The entire meal was so scrumptious. When it came time to leave we gave Eric and our new friends a hug before we left and are now planning a return visit! It may have only been a one-night stay but ended up feeling like a much-needed vacation with friends! read more

My mother arranged for me to stay at the Humminbird Inn back in December 2017. As a world traveler, I've experienced luxury hotel 'products' but had not been to a B&B in decades. This was my second stay at the Hummingbird Inn - the 1st for my husband. My husband is a bit tentative about staying at B&Bs but from the second he walked in and met Eric his concerns were dashed. We were met as old friends or family coming back home after being away. Our 3 pups (the younger 2 had been with me there before) were so happy to be met by Eric and Inn-pup Trou. (Our pup Annie loves her buddy, Trou!) The Hummingbird Inn isn't just "Pet Friendly" - rather it's "Pet Welcoming"!!! So far beyond just "friendly". Our pups love their "Uncle Eric" - and I'm pretty sure that the feeling is mutual. In the evening, our pups were happy to curl up on the floor at Eric's feet while we visited and played backgammon in the parlor. Every evening, Eric proudly presents you with your breakfast offerings for the next morning. Everything for the 3-course breakfast is lovingly homemade and locally sourced from the nearby Amish market. Eric is a classically trained chef and meets you in the white clothed dining room in the morning donned in a white jacket. He personally serves you - coffee/tea, juices, fruits, selection of breads, the entree you selected the night before and a side dish. One example the morning that we left was: yogurt/blueberry/walnut parfait, homemade scones, Guinness/brown sugar glazed bacon (addicting!!!), and Crème Brulee French Toast. Even now the thought of an Eric/Hummingbird Inn breakfast makes my mouth water! Our room - the Easton room - a sunny, enormous room with a King-size bed, seating area and fireplace - was sparkling clean, tastefully decorated, and so comfortable! A big bathroom, complete with a claw-foot tub (and plenty of hot water), completed a perfect sanctuary! The Inn is located in a great area for visiting Easton and enjoying the historic area. Just a few minutes walk from the heart of old Easton you have access to some of the best restaurants we've had the pleasure of visiting. The Inn is also located just blocks away from a "Rail-to-Trails path. Perfect for a morning walk with your pups (pup waste stations are conveniently located throughout) or catching a bike ride. The Inn and the grounds are so beautiful - so welcoming! Lovingly but not overworked landscaping adds to the classic Victorian ambiance with big grassy areas surrounding the 1830-era home - conversations areas scattered throughout. The "conversation" and "relaxation" theme is further evidenced with the seating areas on the wrap-around porch - perfect for visiting with old or new friends. Eric and Trou are THE perfect hosts - personal but not intrusive. I am so proud and happy to say that Eric (and Trou, of course) have become wonderful family friends. We have stayed at several B&Bs over the years and this one was by far the best from the welcoming, accommodating spirit of the owner to the wonderfully decorated rooms and superb gourmet breakfast. We ventured to Easton and the Hummingbird Inn with a mission. Explore the Eastern Shore and figure out if we could think about retiring to the area. Had stayed here for a short overnight a month before and loved it, so back we came (that literally has never happened to me), this time for two nights. Loved the location, loved the home, loved the room, loved the company, loved the breakfast (understatement) and ahem, loved the bacon. Eric was the epitome of a gracious host, we only found out later after a glass or three of wine, that this was only his second year as an innkeeper. He has the chops for this job, and he makes it seem easy.... I know it's not. We asked many questions about the area and he had all the answers and they were spot on. From the place to get a good Manhattan to a chill place on the water for a crab cake, this guy has done his homework... I think in fact, he has lived his homework, and we are the better for it. The house is a lovely reflection of his personality, his world travels and his story. Be sure to ask about his story, the Hummingbird story, its so much a part of what this Inn is all about. I promise you are going to feel like you have a new favorite friend, not just a new favorite inn after your visit. We appreciated the parking, the ability to walk to several places for dinner and did I mention the bacon, and the coffee? The fact that such a creative and tasty breakfast is included in your stay is surely a treat.... don't miss it. He also goes out of his way to accommodate picky eaters, food allergies and aversions without fuss. If you are passing through from the North, or getting out of DC for a quick getaway, Easton is a lovely spot, and this inn is a perfect choice for your stay. We couldn't be happier. Our getaway began with timely email exchanges with our host and owner, Eric, for dinner recommendations and accommodations for our dog. Eric met us when we arrived; introductions and guidelines were simple, short and sweet. The dogs got along famously. We stayed in the Oxford room, a comfortable Victorian affair that is pleasantly uncluttered with its own bathroom (a feature of all the rooms at this B&B). The next morning, the breakfast salmon and broccoli quiche was delicious, as was the freshly made bread, served in a bright dining room. We wanted an easy, unfussy, and private getaway, and that is exactly what Eric gave us. One of the best B&B's I've ever stayed at! My stay was on 03/17-03/19/2020. Eric, the owner and innkeeper contacted me the day before my arrival, as well as the morning of, between email and text. I loved that because it showed that he was aware of my reservation and happily awaiting my arrival, which was comforting during such an uncertain time in this social climate, with everything going on. Eric warmly greeted me upon my arrival to the Hummingbird Inn. His welcoming was a calming, and cozy one, during which he gave me the tour of the first floor, to include the dining room and main living room, showing me where I can help myself to refreshments in the guest accessible fridge, and other snacks available as well. During this time I was able to choose my *mouthwatering* entree for breakfast the next morning! Next, he showed me upstairs to my gorgeous room. I chose the St. Michael Room, which is room #1, the first room you come to, on the second floor, right up the stairs. It's a very large, cozy, and gorgeously decorated room, true to an eastern shore feel, with a dreamy king sized bed, and an attached massive bathroom, with a jetted claw foot tub as well as stand up shower with a rainfall showerhead. There is so much natural light that comes into this room and bathroom, it's bright and cheery. In the evenings I enjoyed the cool light breeze when I opened the windows (I love cool nights on the eastern shore), and relaxed with the tv on in the background, everything unpacked and comfortably put away. Of course after treating myself to a spa night with the spa bath salts provided, in a cute jar on a little table next to the tub, along with other spa products provided for your indulgence and convenience. After waking up from my restful and rejuvenating slumber, I texted Eric (super convenient) around 8 am and asked if a 10 am breakfast time would be okay. He obliged, and just like that, I took my time getting ready for the day, enjoying the rainfall shower first! I went downstairs to breakfast, chose which table I would like to dine at, when Eric greeted me with a bright and cheery good morning! I helped myself to the choices of coffee and assortment of teas, I chose a delicious Irish breakfast tea, and took my seat by one of the bright windows looking out the side of the inn. It was a perfectly sunny day out, so this was the best seat! Eric didn't skip a beat, starting me right off, with the most delicious fruit, nut, oat parfait that was of course homemade, and so perfect to kickoff my breakfast with. He then offered me another assortment of delicious drinks, to include the Hummingbird Bellini, which of course I chose. It was so so good, and absolutely beautiful! Next came my entree, which was an egg dish with tomatoes presented in a cute personal sized cast "skillet" dish, mushrooms on the side (that was my personal choice and request), so perfectly seasoned, I had to slow myself down so I didn't look like I was starving the way I was inhaling it! Eric also brought out an assortment of savory scones and Irish soda bread, all also homemade the night before! Irish soda bread and scones, in my opinion, aren't the easiest to make, especially the right size and taste for scones (they're supposed to be small and substantial without being crumbly and dry) and Eric perfectly made both the Irish soda bread and scones! Disclaimer: although I am not a chef or a baker (you can tell by the fact that I can't remember the name of my entree and simply called it an "egg dish") I AM a global foodie, eating Irish soda bread in Ireland monthly and scones all over France also nearly monthly as well haha! I digress! Paired with these tasty scones and Irish soda bread was two berry flavors of homemade jams, which only made me eat even more. To say I was thoroughly stuffed and satisfied after breakfast would be an understatement. I was a happy fat cat and ready for my day! Eric was such a wonderful host, keeping me company during my breakfast, with just the right amount of conversation, smiles, and laughs! I even discussed that I plan on returning to the Hummingbird Inn again later this year, and in the future! I cannot express just how perfect The Hummingbird Inn was, for my little getaway. In warmer weather you'll have the garden, and large outdoor porches for relaxing in a rocking chair, talking and having some laughs with other guests, if you're looking for some company! I was able to sleep, reset, recharge, eat well, and truly enjoy my time in Easton. The inn is also centrally located, in walking distance to the downtown area, just a block away! Yummy restaurants, shops, and even my favorite little BBQ joint. If you're looking for a warm welcome, a happy tummy, a restful sleep, a conveniently located and beautiful bed and breakfast, with an attentive and cheerful owner, then the Hummingbird Inn is the perfect spot for you! We stayed at the Hummingbird Inn for our daughter's wedding weekend. What a very wonderful venue it is. Our host and staff were perfect. The food was scrumptious and the porch is charming. I highly recommend the hummingbird Inn for any kind of getaway. There's also wonderful restaurants within walking distance. This old Easton neighborhood definitely has old world charm. read more

Brought in the new year at this wonderful inn right around their first year in business and dying to go back ever since. Was looking for a more intimate low key New Year celebration and it was just great sitting around, enjoying amazing food prepared by the owner, Eric and laughing all the way into the ball dropping. The rooms are gorgeous, its hard to decide which one to choose. Very warm and inviting and a great place to meet and make new friends. I highly recommend this inn for a staycations, couples getaway, anniversary weekend, heck I would just go back for the breakfast, especially the candied bacon (my boyfriend's favorite - still talks about it to this day).
