This is our first time in Easton, MD. Tidewater Inn is at the heart of the city. Perfect location to stay and explore Easton. We came right before Christmas. It's clean, the staff are welcoming. Rooms are clean. Just a couple of things - the glass on top of the bed side table had really pointed corners, my little toddler ran into couple of times and I did also. Definitely Not very safe for children. Bathroom sliding door had us laughing. You can see and hear it all.. you really gotta love the person staying with you cause it's gonna get next level intimate lol.. Convenient and cute.. not sure if I'll stay here again though. read more

What a fabulous surprise! I was in the area and wanted to grab breakfast. I checked the menu and saw something that had been a mystery for many years. Scrapple. I have never ventured to try it and I have always assumed that it was undigestible and disgusting. But I decided that if it's on the menu at this swaggy establishment that I may as well give it a try. I went for the eggs with scrape. I never expected it to come out so fancy. It was cooked to perfection and the eggs were the perfect cook for such an adventure to my tastebuds. It had a fresh bed of greens that we're drizzled with a vinegarette. Everything was delicious and the staff was amazing. I actually dropped my wallet and couldn't find it for one day and when I called they said it was in the manager's office. Kudos to an amazing staff and establishment. I found out upon retreaving my wallet that they have a great HH and that on the first Friday, it's a special hh so I will be back! read more

I recently stayed at the Tidewater Inn, Easton Md. The Inn is a very beautiful majestic hotel in downtown Easton. It is in walking distance to all restaurants, shops, etc... In my recent stay I was not impressed with the greeting I received at check in. I was meeting my girlfriend, we were coming from different locations. The front desk immediately said"You will need her ID to check in" I said well I don't have her ID. I was very content to sit in the lobby and enjoy the beautiful fireplace, and had a very enjoyable conversation with another guest. My friend arrived and we went to our room to freshen up before dinner and a concert. Great concert venue across the street ( Avalon), and down from hotel is Legal Assets, A fabulous Grille with excellent service and delicious food. The evening was wonderful. The next day upon check out was another hap hazzard good bye, not "Thank You for staying, have a good day, come back soon." My girl friend was checking her E Mail and noticed an u marked charge from the Tidewater Inn. They charged her card for a smoking violation without notice. The funny thing is we don't smoke. The management was adament that the room smelled like smoke. This was very offensive to us, and a real stab to both our characterts. They literally said the room had to be cleaned for smoke. I have traveled exstensively, and have never been accused of smoking in a room and been charged without notice. I feel that people should be aware of this practice at The Tidewater Inn. read more

An excellent choice for staying in Easton. A welcoming hotel run professionally. Welcoming, solicitous and efficient staff. Clean, comfortable rooms (a guide to running the temperature controls would help). Lovely, well-tended gardens and public spaces to enjoy. We splurged for the Family Suite in the middle of a long-overdue family vacation after my spouse had been quite ill, and as a respite this was just incredibly welcoming. The "Suite" is a little oddly configured, with one bedroom off the master bedroom, which had what was once clearly another separate entrance to the hall, and two very strangely-configured bathrooms. (The modern glass wall shower could not contain the water). The gap under the door in the main bedroom was a problem in getting to sleep, with light leaking underneath it, but once I figured out throwing a few towels on it solved that problem it was quite comfy. The halls were ever so slightly noisy, perhaps because of the older construction and the aforementioned door gaps. But we were at the end of the hall and each room had independent air to put on a little white noise, so we were fine with that. (Oddly, the sitting room heaters were on the entire time we were there; we had to turn the AC on and open the windows a crack to control the temp, as the thermostat in that room had no apparent effect on the heating, just weather the cooling came on.) The sitting room, however, really made the experience great. It has a gas fireplace (remote controlled), and corner windows, the rear ones overlooking the little courtyard to the rear. We used this as a sanctuary and a place to convene, but the junior member of our party could retreat to his very own room with his very own TV (albeit with a limited number of channels) while the elder members of the party had a quiet evening together in the sitting room. The downstairs is a small version of what grand hotels used to be like, with some elegant overstuffed furniture and a public sitting room off the lobby that may have once been the smoking and billiards room, but which now is the foyer for the event room. Somewhat oddly this is also the way out to the back to the parking area. (We also had construction out front when we were there, which somewhat complicated the process of unloading and reloading upon arrival and departure.) I do not believe there is bell service, although they had full old school luggage carts. It has the feel of a boutique hotel, but one from a parallel universe where the old school hotel vibe never died out. Staff were courteous and stayed out of the way as one would expect from an upper end hotel, and that was appreciated. Because it's an old hotel, there's not a lot in the way of amenities here. But what you do have is the cute downtown of Easton right out your front door. The town has upscale, non-chain businesses all about, and a certain vibrancy hard to find in many towns its size. We were there to follow Frederick Douglass (the Tidewater is built on the site of the Avalon Hotel, where he stayed on his final return trip to the town) and stuck to the historical attractions, but there's a legit theater and a performance space within a block, and a variety of dining options, although oddly nothing that I'd call fine dining except the hotel's Hunter's Tavern (which we did not try, in part because the bar closed so early we couldn't make it back even for a nightcap, which is a pity.) In any event, the proximity to downtown was a unique amenity all in and of itself, that had many little surprises for us. If it sounds like I'm complaining and whining and nitpicking here and there in this review, it's because I'd describe the overall experience as a bit eccentric, but with considerable charm. You do not get charm without idiosyncracies. If that sounds good to you, and you have some extra money in the budget, this is your spot. We got a reasonable rate considering it was the off-season and mid-week, although one night here was as much as two nights at any other place we stayed during our trip up and down the shore. We visited the Tidewater for their Easter Brunch. This was the second year we came and this year we brought two other couples from outside Maryland. It was another great experience. We were seated almost immediately but our table hadn't been bussed. No issue we were quickly taken to another table. We were quickly asked if we wanted drinks by our server and told about the buffet. The selection on the buffet was varied and delicious. Prime rib, lamb, shrimp, omelets and so much more. The desserts were so tasty we spent extra time sampling them all. It was an unrushed afternoon of good food with friends. The service was fast, friendly and efficient in a beautiful venue. Our friends that came from Pittsburgh and Delaware already want to make it a yearly meeting spot. read more

We've been here several times and we won't be going back. The food was good (except the steak was so tough and the sauerkraut had no flavor) but the service was horrendous. The hostess was so rude, nothing good came from her mouth. And the last time, the waiter was unbelievably mean and not to mention SLOW. I like to give second chances but this was the second strike so Tidewater Inn is out. My family used to come here often but this place has really gone down. Built in 1949 and an iconic structure in Easton. Great wedding venue which was our reason for staying at this hotel. The place is decked out for the perfect wedding. Ballroom was beautiful and the food was some of the best I have had at a wedding. Nice rooms, very clean, very friendly and helpful staff. The reception staff arguing over who should see who's at the front desk during check in should have been a clue. Then an actual key on a 60s key ring was handed to me for my waterview room. The waterview is a literal swamp. The room....I could get past the old outdated unmatching baby blue bathroom. But the red, barely painted, walls and mismatched stained furniture was a big no. I didn't even stay. I cancelled the booking within minutes and thankfully was able to secure a room next door. read more

Honestly this hotel is adorable and quaint. The lobby and outside is gorgeous. Very vintage coastal vibes inside and the garden is beautiful. Free parking is such a great perk and it's located in a very cute town perfect for exploring and walking around the historic places. The front desk was so accommodating to us. Our first room had a very small shower my only complaints about this hotel are the rooms are a little outdated, but honestly the staff is SO NICE and sweet I don't have anything negative to say. Jordan was the SWEETEST concierge in the world they need to promote her. They gave us a bigger room for our disappointment (for the pictures not exactly matching the actual room) because we are celebrating our anniversary and my birthday. We were just looking for something a little different but we would return for the sheer kindness and hospitality alone and the on site restaurant was perfect for a bite. I ordered the crab cakes and I loved them and the crab dip was good too! My bf got the burger and fries and I won't lie it wasn't great but our server Liam was very nice, we didn't complain. I would definitely just order seafood since we are in Maryland. Honestly thank you so much Tidewater your staff was the best. read more

We spent 3 nights at the tidewater inn for my step-daughters wedding. I can say enough good things about how the staff treated us. The did a great job with the COVID protocol considering there were about 90 of us. It was such a busy time I forgot to take pictures of everything. I will be back soon for a relaxing weekend. A tip it takes awhile for hot water in the shower so don't plan to jump in right after starting. Melanie was great to meet she seem to be on top of everything. She let us in the reception site early in the morning so we could get flowers set up. The wait staff was phenomenal they had appetizers out and the meals out quickly. Ok stay. Reserved a room advertised as renovated on the website well in advance for a wedding. The picture of the bathroom on the website was much larger than the bathroom that was in our supposedly renovated room. It is obvious that they did not renovate the rooms and only updated the rooms. I found this out when I was getting ready for an event and couldn't get the light above the sink to work. Maintenance worker (very rude) tried changing the lightbulb, but it turns out that the electrical is faulty because they didn't actually renovate the rooms and take the walls down to the studs/lath & plaster to replace the very old wires. Same with the plumbing. We ended up squeezing the desk lamp onto the tiny counter for the whole weekend so I didn't have to put on makeup in the dark. False advertising at its worst. read more

First time visitor to the area and very pleased with the hotel selection. Smack dab in the middle of the old town with ready access to local food/drink establishments and the heart of the city. Spoke with ~6-7 staff members and each was friendly, attentive, and informative. Smaller rooms, dated interior, "quaint" is perfectly understood but in retrospect everything was clean, comfortable and good change up from a more sterile experience of hotel chains. Would stay again. We did not try, but the $30 breakfast/brunch buffet is best breakfast in town (after speaking with locals). read more

Dang what a let down this place was when it came to service. I was here as a bridesmaid for a wedding and was constantly treated terribly. The entire time I never saw ANY hotel staff smile - from the front desk to the people serving our tables at the reception... no hospitality to be found. Exhibit a: during the rehearsal on Saturday, the night before the wedding, I stopped by the front desk to ask about check in time. I mentioned that I'm a bridesmaid in the wedding tomorrow that starts at 4 and wondered if I could swipe into my room a bit early to store my (and other bridesmaids) things. They pretty much said too bad so sad, because of all the Sunday late check outs you can't get into your room until 4. Additionally the woman at the desk prodded me to find out where I was staying Saturday, which is frankly none of her business, and very clearly judged me for not staying here. Exhibit b: the wedding was on a Sunday night so after we got into our room I called down and asked for a late check out. They said they don't do those... even though they apparently had so many the night before that they couldn't let us in early. Also I seriously doubt they have a huge wave of people coming to check in on a Monday afternoon. Exhibit c: without telling the bride or bridesmaids, during the 25 minute ceremony someone (who knows who) removed all of our items from the room we were holding in. They really couldn't have waited for us to come back or told us before hand that when we left we were gone for good? Honestly this place is the epitome of a monopoly. They are the only big hotel in town so they treat their guests like we're doing them a favor and not the other way around. I experienced zero hospitality and would never return here. There are many other places to stay - specifically I recommend the place I stayed Saturday night (here's the info you wanted woman at the front desk...) the bishops house bed and breakfast. This place has gone downhill.There are newer better hotels in Easton now.This is no longer the only hotel in Easton.There are better ones.The people that stay here are very snooty and think they are entitled just because they are staying here.I don't know why because this is no longer the number one hotel in Easton.They also host the Waterfowl Festivals which is a cruelty festival.Walls are paper thin and they are not pet friendly.Why would you be when you hold a hunting festival?Staff are snooty.Guests and staff look down on "normal dressed"people.I also don't know why they put that salon in there because they only do old lady hairstyles.Remember,Normal dressed people are what made the Eastern Shore. read more

Dog friendly. Nice little quaint boutique like hotel in a cute town... easily accessible off of route 50. They describe it as luxury ... but definitely historic and somewhat stately. No valet but parking in the rear. Front desk check in seemed to be nice and easy. Bell was helpful. Had to pay extra $50 for my dog but that's pretty typical. Small room. Restaurant bar ok. I would stay there again if I was in the area but I wouldn't make a trip of it. I typically stay at the Hyatt Resort in Cambridge but that's comparing apples to oranges. There was a wedding rehearsal dinner in the back courtyard and maybe worth a look if you are looking for tiny quaint historic mansion like venue for a small event. No diversity and given it was built in 1874 ... likely by my enslaved ancestors or newly freed slaves. It is what it is. read more

I really enjoyed staying here. I was only there for one night, but I had a good time! I definitely recommend staying here. This Inn is more like a hotel, and there are some newly renovated rooms in which I stayed. The Inn is in the heart of downtown Easton and is right across from restaurants and shops. It truly is a really great location for staying in Easton. The Inn itself is in good condition. The lobby was clean and very stylish, it did NOT feel old or run down. The restaurant attached to the hotel is very expensive so I did not try that. There is one elevator and it's a little small. The room I stayed in was very nice, clean and renovated. Very stylish and updated. The bathroom was very cute and functional. Not very big though so really one person at a time. I did have an issue with the air conditioning in the room, it didn't get very cold and kind of got damp-sticky if that makes sense. I could've used a colder room for the hot summer. There were rocking chairs on the front patio which are nice to sit out in the evening. There is a faint smell of sewage at the front, So you may smell that if you're sitting out front. Parking is three lots in the back of the inn, you need to get a parking pass. After you park in the lot, you can access the inn from the back. Overall I recommend staying here. read more

Wow! My family and I stayed here for a friend's wedding and the staff was amazing . They over the top friendly and accommodating and I cannot say enough of good things about themX Upon check in, we asked to upgrade to a bigger space since we had our kiddos staying the night with us. The staff was able to find us a new room and help us move our things to the new one. The original room was a queen bedroom and is definitely on the smaller side. It is perfect for a couple though. We ended up with the king junior suite that had an extra sitting room which was great for getting the kiddos ready for bedtime and the babysitter having an extra space. Overall, the staff and management team's friendliness and customer service skills make up for the smaller accommodations! The hotel is within Easton, which is a quaint town with boutique shops, restaurants, and antique stores. I cannot wait to come back and actually hang out around this area. read more

We stayed here during the Covid Labor Day weekend and believe that the hotel followed all safety protocols. We were able to get a Hotwire deal for $ 125 dollars net of taxes for the basic room which was all we needed as we planned to be in and out most of the day anyway. For a 3star rated hotel, this is a great deal. PLUS/MINUS This is an old, historic hotel which has a quaint, rustic vibe to it so if you're into the new modern facilities, then this is not for you. It is situated in the historic district of Easton where it's away from all the other cheap hotels along busy Rt.50. Early morning and late nights have the streets quiet and without a lot of cars so you can walk/jog around amidst fresh air. If you're looking for access to your McDonalds, Panera, etc. then this is about a 10 min. drive to all this and where all the more popular accommodations are located. PLUS The hotel has character. The lobby is small but grand in a different way. Hunter's Tavern, it's restaurant, has a cool ambience to it, good service, and good reviews which I can't really add on to as we've only had a satisfying first morning breakfast here. There is also a patio behind and adequate and safe open air parking. Everything in the room works and the staff are there for your needs and not as obtrusive. The biggest come on for us was the location. On vacations, we'd like to try different restaurants and the Tidewater has a lot of both affordable and classy options to choose from which are within walking distance. Same goes for a few historic sites and small parks which are nearby. There is an ice cream shop just across the street. MINUS We got the basic room so it is small but adequate. No ref, sofa/lounge, closet to hang your clothes and because the drawers are "antiquish" they're too narrow to even put even your T-shirts in. The bathroom is old, it's still a bathtub and not a walk-in shower, the exhaust fan doesn't seem to work (or silently does) and there is not even a hair dryer but you get hot water and the toilet flushes as it should. Note: I think some of the bigger rooms have been refurbished but the room we got was just what we needed. BOTTOMLINE: Yes I would stay here again. We tried to upgrade when we arrived but they were fully booked already which I think is a positive thing. There is also just one elevator to service 4 floors (stairs are an option) but during our whole stay, you don't come across any crowds and big families milling around and competing for the service and the facilities. read more

On Wednesday, May, 17, 2018 we were here with another couple and it was terrific! We all were very happy with our selections which were short ribs, crab cakes and filet all of which were outstanding. Service in the restaurant by Becky was also excellent as was the service by Mark or Justin in Hunter's Tavern prior to dinner. Mark was particularly helpful in understanding the Tavern's menu because we wanted to eat light prior to dinner at the Tidewater Inn. read more

Really the only things special about this place are the location and the bar. We received terrible customer service and no hospitality other than from the bartender and the cleaning staff. The rooms were just ok, most don't have fridges... Some of the amenities are nice-ish, but the place has a poor layout and felt very sterile particularly in light of no one caring about us. The bar was fun and the restaurant looked nice, I didn't try any food however. The location is great, but Easton is so small that I'd suggest staying somewhere smaller, cozier and friendlier where they treat you like a guest and actually want you there... read more

Do not stay here. Bathroom is archaic (I have never said that about any hotel in the us) noisy and the worst part... non sufficiently working AC in our room 349. It is 80 degrees in here right now and couldn't sleep after spending more than our usual allowance. Their version of window unit "high" is barely blowing any air at all. It was 95 heat index yesterday. We are leaving to go snooze in our air conditioned car instead. -management said they couldn't do anything since our room was booked by a third party. read more

Really enjoyed our drinks, dinner, and one night stay at the Tidewater last night. The courtyard served as a beautiful and quiet spot to enjoy a few happy hour cocktails while we waiting to begin our small family reunion. We admired the beauty of the historic brick and garden. Dinner for 6 was excellent and everyone enjoyed their meal. My mom says "tender filet, melt in your mouth meat" filet mignon. We stayed on the third floor in a two queen room. View could have been better, but we didn't spend much time in there anyway. We will definitely be back to enjoy quaint Easton again. read more

A good choice for fine dining at a beautiful location specializing in fresh seafood in Easton, MD. Their rockfish and crab cakes are highly recommended. Severely underrated. I understand that the restaurant is under new management which may explain some older poor reviews. We ate here today for the first time after all of our other choices were closed for the holiday. Everything was fantastic and served very quickly given how busy they are. The Ahi tuna is highly recommended and the rockfish and chips was also tasty. The Pinot Gris on the menu was a good pairing to our meal at a good price point ($40). We'll be back! read more

I often hesitate to order crabcakes without a trusted recommendation, but I took the risk here, since I could order one crabcake with another seafood favorite, fried oysters. The cakes were excellent, with minimal filler. The oysters were perfectly fried, no hint of rubbery fryer overload. The green beans and mushrooms that accompanied the seafood tasted grilled, and I enjoyed them despite being not overly fond green beans. My daughter got one of the evening's specials: rockfish with an oyster sauce on a bed of spinach and mashed potatoes: the fish was tender and tasty and the sauce was superb. The salads that accompanied the entrees were very good, too - house salads without any iceberg lettuce with a light house vinaigrette. The draft beer selection was very good, including two beers from Delaware's Dogfish Head, their seasonal Punkin' Ale and the 60-minute IPA. Service was prompt and friendly and competent. Wish I could give this place negative stars. I live in the area and anytime there is an event at the tidewater its like they own Easton. I've had my car broken into numerous times, drunk people have left trash all over my property and the staff is just horrendous. (Only happens Friday-Saturday) Number one reason I'm looking to move out of the area is the tidewater and how little they care about their neighborhood. They constantly have way too many people there and think that all parking is made just for them. Even designed parking for my address. Don't move to the town of Easton. Everyone is just stuck up and thinks they can tell you what to do. read more
