We loved it and highly recommend it to others. The whole property, from the common areas, the outdoor patios, the private parking lot, to our room, was immaculate. Our room - Touch of Grey - was small but spotless and tastefully appointed. Every employee we interacted with was super friendly and professional. Both buildings are elegant and charmingly historic while also modern and well kept. Location is part of its appeal. Directly next to the Naval Academy and a block from the famous and historic Dock Street. Easy to walk everywhere from here. Parking is tight in this area so access to a private parking lot is key. We hope to return to Annapolis soon and will definitely try to stay here again.

You will enjoy chatting with Tiffany at any time. She will do anything to make your stay more comfortable. For example, she offered to take our laundry along with her own to the wash & fold in town do we wouldn't have to spend our own time doing it. If you need a place to stay in Annapolis, I would highly recommend forgoing the usual hotel chains and trying Laurel Grove Inn.

It was hugh - 3 floors of beautifully decorated rooms with a deck and outdoor patio, immaculately clean rooms, comfortable beds, a Viking range and a side-by-side refrigerator in the kitchen, a flat screen TV, air-conditioning, and remodeled bathrooms. There are framed sketches of the Ark and the Dove, the ships that are the namesake of the B&B, on the 3rd floor. I slept on the 3rd floor in the canopy bed and it was wonderful! The only downside (literally as well as figurtively, was the 13 + 16 stairs to get up and down there, but it was worth it. The location cannot be beat, about half a block from downtown. And you don't need keyes to get in /out- it's a combination. The hosts, Sandy & Sue, are delightful. Parking is on the street, and they provide tags. It was a gret experience - I didn't want to leave!

We arrived at 1 to drop off our bags and had to call to be let in. The on site person wasn't on site and we waited about ten mins then decided to leave our bags in the lobby. 2: the on site person was not there at 3:00. We had to wait until about 3:10 then the on site person didn't have their computer to check us in. The on site person didn't know our code for the front door and it took us asking about 4 times to finally get a code to the front door. 3: the house is cold. There are space heaters everywhere in the house, which helps, but I am not paying $400 a night to stay in a cold house. I will not be staying here again.

I've stayed at the Governor Calvert House four times in the last two years. The location can't be…read morebeat for proximity to downtown Annapolis and the Naval Academy. The historic aspects of the Inn are outstanding. The cleanliness is on point. Until my last visit, I would have sworn I'd stay there every opportunity I had. The only consistent complaint I have in all four visits was the AC either stopped working completely (requiring multiple engineer visits but the plus was complimentary wine) or was near broken and not cooling predictably. Other than that, this place was like my dream home away from home. However, there has been a significant drop in service by the front desk and reservation staff starting in fall of 2025 which has accelerated in spring of 2026. Over a four night stay in May, three mornings there was either no sugar, cream or coffee available during reasonable coffee times (7:30am) and I had to go to the desk to request restock. Also, someone reported to the front desk that a large roach was in the men's lobby restroom sink...the women at the front desk (also day shift) laughed and said they weren't dealing with it. These same employees made fun of some visitors who accidentally came to the wrong business by mimicking them after they left. I've received a few emails promoting an incentive for a return visit, but it has "?errors" all over it even when I open in different browsers. When I call about what it entails, I am told they don't know. And that's if I can get them to answer the phone. I've tried emailing and have received no reply after more than a week. Regretfully, I've booked another Inn for my next visit...I truly enjoyed most of my stays at the Governor Calvert House, but I don't like the direction its service has headed and it's too much money to spend for poor service. THIS DOESN'T APPLY TO HOUSEKEEPING OR THE NIGHT SHIFT EMPLOYEES-they continued to be outstanding.

The woman at the…read morefront desk seemed a bit confused on the check in process both in a call before arriving and once arrived, which was a bit frustrating. The room was mostly clean. However, the windowsills and shades are caked in dust. A bit disappointing especially since we stayed in the pure wellness room which is supposed to be allergen friendly and with an air purification system. The furniture with outlets basically all do not work, making it harder to find places to charge anything. The window by the bathroom is broken and was taped back together with painters tape. The bathroom wallpaper was coming off the walls and the shower curtain was falling out of the wall. We tried to twist it back up in place but the wallpaper and wall where it is screwed in appears pulled away from the wall and needs more serious repair. Lastly, $50 per day for valet when there are basically no other parking options is pretty steep and they don't openly share the cost upon check in... just beware of the cost in case you want to make alternate arrangements! If they took a little more care to clean less trafficked areas and ensure things are repaired and in working condition prior to guests staying in the room, this would be a really awesome place to stay.

Charming and unique experience! This was the first time my husband and I have stayed at a true B&B. Our son is at the Academy, and we discovered Chez Amis while exploring DTA prior to our son's Induction Day. The cute exterior and excellent location really appealed to me, so finally (!) two years later, we booked for a parents' weekend in October 2016, and our stay was fabulous! Can't wait to come back. Elly and Joe were superb hosts, the breakfast meals and snacks were delicious, and our room (the State Room) was the best! read more

My wife and I were looking for a weekend getaway in St. Michaels and we ended up picking this…read morebeautiful B&B, which is within walking distance of downtown St. Michaels. The owner, Janet, was very helpful both before us picking this B&B and during our entire stay. Our stay was from Fri-Sun in the middle of winter and we wound up being the only guests in the house that weekend, which was nice for us. Upon arrival, Janet takes you into the beautifully decorated parlor room where you fill out forms for when and what you want for breakfast each morning. She had a different menu for each day of our stay. She then gave us a tour of the home while taking us to our room, the Harrison room, which was located on the 2nd floor. There are only three guest rooms, two of which are located at the 2nd floor and the other on the 3rd floor. Janet has done a wonderful job of decorating this very old home and we enjoyed our stay in the lovely and comfortable Harrison room. The room is equipped with a queen sized bed, a sitting area, fireplace, HDTV, coffee maker, and a private bathroom. The wood burning fireplace was all set, so all we had to do was light it. Being the middle of winter, we lit the fire each night. The bathroom sink is small, but there is a built-in open medicine cabinet where you can store your toiletry items. Close the bathroom door and flip on the heater, and the bathroom will be nice and toasty for yourself! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed each of our breakfasts. Both days, we started with fresh fruit, which came with a little scoop of raspberry sherbet. Our first breakfast consisted of french toast with sausage on the side and on the second morning, we had waffles with bananas. You have your choice of coffee, teas, and juices. She also has an assortment of DaVinci syrups to add to your coffee if you like. Breakfast was always ready at the time we specified each morning, and we got to enjoy our breakfast while sitting next to a roaring fire. The dining room consists of one round table, so you would be potentially eating with others if other guests picked a breakfast time the same or close to what you picked. Free WiFi is provided, but I found it to be slow much of the time. I think the issue had to do with where the access point is located. I had a fairly weak WiFi signal from the room on the second floor, but things improved somewhat when I sat in the parlor room. Ultimately it wasn't a real big deal for me as my device had a cellular signal and I wound up using that most of the time. The B&B is located just off a side street in downtown St. Michaels and we simply walked into town to go shopping. You are also very close to the Maritime Museum. Only street parking is available around the house. Being the dead of winter, we had no difficulty parking. I would say watch out for the no parking signs as I accidentally wound up illegally parking the first night. Fortunately a neighbor told me before a cop discovered it! This B&B accepts cash or check only and you do have to pay 50% at the time of reservation. I would have preferred that credit cards were accepted. In summary, Dr. Dodson house provided my wife and I and very relaxing weekend getaway with delicious breakfasts, and this is exactly what we were looking for. If we ever find ourselves back in St. Michaels, we will definitely look to see if there is availability at Dr. Dodson's house!!

Despite being a historic home, the Dr. Dodson House has all the modern conveniences one would expect (free WiFi, central air, flat screen TV with plenty of channels, modern bathroom). The breakfasts were a particular highlight and the perfect way to fuel up for a day of exploring St. Michaels. Would definitely return in the future.

They do a great job making a historic property feel modern with ample outlets and usb ports, a very comfortable bed, and a mini fridge we used to store leftovers and beer. The TVs also have more channels than we ever have had in a hotel but rarely used given all the fun stuff in Annapolis. They also make the hotel accessible with elevators and wheelchair accessible rooms. The staff was also wonderful and accommodated us well by storing our belongings after checkout while we explored the State House on the 5th. We love how much is in a very short walking distance to here. Parking may be expensive but for car free people this is quite easy with commuter busses from DC and Baltimore, local Flixbus from DC and New York, local busses around the clock from Baltimore Light Rail's Cromwell station, as well as ample Ubers and Lyfts that may be cheaper than parking and no need to go past walking distance.

NOT sanitary and the shower has no fan but Everytime the AC kicks on it sounds like a jet taking off in our room. All night you sweat your but off then it kicks on you freeze. They offer a discount for 2 night stands and for being a firefighter but only if you book it directly through them. When I tried to call and book it directly I was forwarded to a call center that knew NOTHING about the hotel!!!! He didn't speak English so he was very hard to understand plus he mumbled!!! Love the town literally hate the hotel!!!
