Biscuits and gravy with onions & homefries.

Breakfast was outstanding. Delicious. But the highlight was the friendly staff and locals that clearly come there for the morning news. We couldn't have enjoyed it more.

Not many reviews but all highly rating this establishment so I decided to check it out as there aren't any coffee shops in the area and someone stated they had decent coffee. My expectations were set rather low. Just a neighborhood diner that serves the locals. I walked in and was greeted by the waitress. She said she had eight other tables that just sat down and that it would be a minute. No drink offered, that's gonna be a star. Looking around I saw three tables in front and four on the side, some had food some didn't. Guess I'm bad at math. I got to order coffee twenty minutes after I sat down. Twenty minutes. And water. I needed water. Star. One waitress for everyone? I'm going to let that slide. I'm feeling generous for the new year. Guy next to me was eating the soup of the day, cream of crab soup, and between mouthfuls of crab told me it was delicious and could hardly compose holding a grin between soup dribbling past his lips. This is Maryland so I suppose that might be a thing. And if something causes someone to drool, maybe it is good. Ordered it, ugh. It is a very white base with tremendous lumps of crab. Problem is, it is basically heavy cream with crab flesh. Any flavor the animal offered is lost in being doused in bland heavy cream. No bits of pepper or any other seasoning which is remarkable. I'm guessing they're getting good feedback on a product that could really pop. Went for a diner staple afterwards, a cheeseburger and fries. The waitress came over and hesitated, asking me what I ordered. I said a cheeseburger. She says well they put cheddar on it....... ok. I mean I did order a cheeseburger who am I to judge which cheese? Let me tell ya, as that cheese was creme brûlée'd upon that over some piece of meat, the only thing it did was turn it into a chewy meat crumble hide between some stale burnt buns, and not the nice fluffy buns we all tend to like. French fries were your run of the mill ore ida crinkle stuff- underdone. So there's my opinion, take it or leave it, not sure how they have so many stars. But I'll say one thing, the coffee was what I got there for and it was a medium blend of fine. Fine diner dining I'd say. Fine.

Skillet which was great! And the biscuits are amazing.

I had a couple of friends in from Colorado and wanted to expose them to some authentic Maryland seafood on the water without going over to the Eastern Shore. Pirates Cove was the perfect call. Literally dockside in the tucked away town of Galesville, we sat and enjoyed drooling over all the boats. In the winter, there is a great enclosed patio that can be completely opened up in the summer. The dockside bar was closed for the season, but is hopping in the summer months. We ordered a variety of seafood appetizers and main courses to share amongst our group. Everything from the oysters, cream of crab soup, crab cakes, and mussels were perfectly prepared and delicious. Hands down the Cream of Crab soup is IMO the best in the Mid-Atlantic. They also have the half Maryland/half Cream of Crab soup option, which is one of my favorite meals. Everyone is still raving about the food and we have some CO converts from Rocky Mountain Oysters to real Maryland oysters! While the food was outstanding, the service was just as good. Our wait staff did a fantastic job walking through the menu to recommend the best options for a true Maryland seafood feast. It was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to come back.

"Waste o' time, Bobby, you won't find the critter there," Sam Guthrie (Cannonball), the oldest of the teenagers that make up the New Mutants, responded, "It'll be here." "What are you talking about, Sam? Explain yourself!" "Stands t' reason, ever since we've known her, Dani's had a special fear of a spirit bear she said murdered her parents. None of us really really gave the story much credit, after all who believes in magic?" Sam paused oh so slightly before continuing. " 'Cept Illyana's a real witch, an' we fought demons and sorceresses. Maybe Dani wasn't kidding." Sam shifted his tone to reveal his evidence. "Illyana tells me Dani spent the last week or so in the Danger Room fighting bears! T'night, she walked out into a [winter] storm, alone, armed with a bow an' arrows an' wearing war paint! And got mauled. We were wrong t' doubt her. We should'a listened, we should'a seen the signs." Whenever my wife and I visit a restaurant or bar for the first time, whether we are there by ourselves or--in this case--treated to a meal by our favorite neighbors--I can count on her to sort through, heed, and pick up on every nuance in every aspect of culinary service that is there to be sensed. In this case, at the Dockside Restaurant & Sports Bar at 421 Deale Road in Maryland, the food was mostly wonderful, and the prices were more than reasonable for this economy. What prevents Dockside from receiving at least four stars was primarily the service. Two orders of fries, one sweet potato and one regular, weren't hot; and although our waitress reluctantly brought one of the orders back to exchange it for a new batch, the fries didn't taste any warmer. Our other host ordered his crabcake lightly-fried, only for it to be brought out broiled. He still enjoyed it, but it wasn't exactly what he wanted or ordered. By the end of the meal, it became obvious that, if we return, we need to ask for Sarah, who, although she was tending the bar and wasn't even our waitress, still brought one of our neighbors a fresh cup of Pepsi Zero that she could take on our return trip home. Sarah also exhibited a great sense of humor, an attentiveness and an attention to detail, and, most importantly, remembered with pleasure our hosts, who have dined there frequently. Apart from the pumpkin cheesecake, which was so infused with nutmeg and pumpkin spice that even Linus from Peanuts couldn't have tasted the pumpkin, and the lukewarm fries, our meals were terrific. I devoured the perfectly-seasoned shrimp from the fried shrimp platter; everyone loved their onion rings and their cream of crab and Maryland crab soups; and we all agreed that the crabcakes, boiled and fried, were scrumptious.

This place is nestled along the quiet waterfront in Deale, Maryland; it is one of those classic Chesapeake Bay gems that manages to balance small-town charm with a lively dockside spirit. You will always find fishermen swapping stories, families gathering after a day on the water, and visitors who came for the sunset and stayed for the crab cakes. The panoramic view of Rockhold Creek is breathtaking. The vibe is relaxed and local in the best possible way: nautical flags, weathered wood, and a bar that feels as though it's been a gathering place for generations. In warm weather, the outdoor deck fills quickly, offering the ultimate place to enjoy a cold beer and a platter of seafood as the sun dips into the bay. It was too cold for us; we hope to make it back here in the spring with warmer weather. The menu at Happy Harbor is rooted in Maryland tradition but isn't afraid to have a little fun. We started with the creamy Maryland crab dip; it is served bubbling hot with toasted baguette slices. It's rich without being cloying, anchored by sweet, fresh lumps of crabmeat that remind you how close you are to the source. Next, we had the steamed blue crabs. Steamed to order, they arrived fragrant, steaming, and perfectly seasoned--the hallmark of a place that knows its craft. My wife went with the grilled rockfish sandwich--local to the Bay and cooked to perfection--which arrived simply dressed with lettuce, tomato, and a smear of house-made tartar sauce on a soft brioche roll. It's the kind of straightforward, fresh preparation that showcases confidence rather than flash. I went with the Captain's Combination Platter, a local favorite, offering a sampler of crispy fried shrimp, oysters, scallops, and a generous portion of hand-cut fries. It's hearty, unpretentious comfort food that's as much about the experience as the flavors. You can pair your meal with a craft beer from a regional brewery or a signature crush cocktail--the orange crush was my choice. As far as the service, Happy Harbor is friendly and efficient, with staff who genuinely seem to enjoy the rhythm of the place. Our server was engaging and quick with recommendations and even quicker with refills, striking just the right note between laid-back and attentive. Happy Harbor isn't chasing trends--it's celebrating tradition. It's a place where the seafood is fresh, the portions generous, and the mood somewhere between a family gathering and a dockside festival. Whether you're a local returning for your favorite crab dip or a traveler discovering the simplicity of a Maryland summer meal by the water, Happy Harbor delivers a quintessential Chesapeake experience.
