I ended up hungry and in Owings, MD, and multiple positive reviews led me to Pinky's Eatery. As soon as I parked and got out the car, I smelled BBQ. That was a good sign. When I entered I was a little overwhelmed with the menu, but Aiden at the register was super patient while I looked over everything. I decided on the jerk chicken with mac & cheese and cabbage and collards. While waiting for my order, somebody brought a fresh rack of ribs in from the grill, so I sure did get back in line to add an order of that as well! The jerk chicken and the ribs were both excellent! They were cooked well and super flavorful and juicy. I wasn't too crazy about the sides, but they actually tasted better when I reheated them the next day. There is not a bad choice on this menu, but if you're looking for suggestions, the jerk chicken is fantastic, the collard greens are a must, and the catfish is phenomenal. Staff is very friendly and inviting, but plan to take your food to go as there isn't much space for eating onsite. This isn't a fast food stop, but good food takes time! The food is really good here. From scratch homemade and delicious southern cooking and bbq. It is strictly take out and the only reason I dock one star is because the service can be very slow more often than not, especially at dinner times on Friday and Saturday. No online ordering so my only suggestion is to call ahead because they will answer the phone, even when there is a line backed up, which can be a little frustrating. Here it is Yelp...I'm coming with straight fiya out of Owings, MD...sometimes you just have to drive for quality food and sometimes that drive may be slightly less than 30 minutes...big question everyone will ask...Was it worth it? I've been to Pinky's Eatery about 4 times...each time the food gets better and better...I've even used Pinky's Eatery for catering events of small and large parties and each time...the service levels rise higher and higher. Pinky's keeps you guessing with their daily specials...it's always something new to try... There is a section to eat inside by the window but I typically take all of my orders to-go. When doing catering events they will deliver but sometimes I just pick the order up and it's been hot, fresh and ready each time. My favorite items to order: Catfish, Ribs, Whiting, Ox Tails, Yams, and those baked beans are fire Presentation is everything to me...hence why I keep coming back. Pinky's catered a birthday party at the American Legion, Post 206 in Chesapeake Beach today. The food was incredible! Keith fried fish on location as well as burgers, hot dogs and Chicken. Tiffany served pasta salad, potato salad, the world's best Mac'n Cheese, greens were to die for, fresh sweet potatoes, salad and a few other items. About a 1-1.5: I was a little sad to see the previous breakfast/cafe place gone, but excited to to check this new eatery that replaced it. Pinky's Eatery offers a pretty large menu, offering dinner plates like Pecan Wood Smoked Ribs, Pork Chops, Louisiana Fried Fish and Shrimp, Maryland Crab Cakes, etc. There are also salads and daily specials, too. We tried the Ox Tails dinner (one of their specials of the day), the Pinky's Ultimate Seafood Platter (with fried fish, crab cake, Chesapeake fried oysters, and fried shrimp), and a Smoked Rib Tip Sandwich. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy any of the items we had ordered. The ox tails were cooked way too long and were tough, and we were just not a fan of their thicker 'creamed' sauce on top - it looked flavorful, but it was not. The fried seafood didn't seem to be cooked in a recently new batch of oil, as it had an old oil odor to it; also, the seafood themselves were way overcooked. The crab cake way was rubbery and tough, and also contained pieces of shells throughout. The smoked rip tip sandwich was inedible - it was tough and covered with too much sauce. For the sides, we tried the collared greens and the mac and cheese - both were forgettable. We tried their corn, but it was a crusted battered corn and fried - the exterior just slipped right off, and we didn't see the novelty on this item. Everything was tossed. We also tried a couple of juices that seem to be locally made (the Royal brands - the Guava Punch and the Ginger Root) - we couldn't finish these, as each drink had a mildew/old dish rags aftertaste. There's only a couple of tables with limited counter seating. Most seem to get their orders to go, and there was a line. I just wished we had the same delicious experience as others have had. This is my first visit here. Pack on your patience. Even though the food is already cooked it's about a 15 minute wait. And, there's no dining in. Not because of COVID-19, it's a small venue. $15.95 for a terrible pork chop sandwich The pork chop was very small and had so much fat on it. it could not be eaten no taste no flavor. It was ridiculous and my husband bought a Maryland crabcake dinner cost at $32.95. The portion of the meal was so small my freaking 3 year old could have ate it . I have been there plenty of time and never had any complaints but this time it was ridiculous. I don't know if they got new workers or what but the guy that took our money name was Keith the meal was ridiculous. I feel our money was wasted terribly wasted, threw the sandwich out the damn window. Love this place! Food is always good and fresh. I'm a creature of habit, so I usually get the same 2-3 things. The ribs are a favorite in my house. The breakfast sandwiches are a close second.
