My wife and I went back to Oscars yesterday for lunch. A day later - I'm still thinking about how freaking good the Eldersburger was. Look - you can go anywhere for a cheeseburger, but whatever is happening in Oscar's Ale House kitchen is down right special. The burger patty was the perfect thickness, cooked to a perfect medium for me and medium-well for my better half. The cloud-like light, fluffy but not so much so that it fell apart bun appeared to have spent a few seconds on the grill giving it a lovely char and just a hint of caramelization. The cheese, applewood smoked bacon and get this - a FLAVORFUL tomato, perfectly ripe somehow in the month of march, all complimented the meat and bun perfectly. The fries were crunchy and hot. All in all, great experience, tremendous food quality and cooking and a fun atmosphere. Our server was attentive and polite. We will definitely be back. read more

This is a fantastic local pub with an occasional disappointment but overall excellent food, phenomenal service, and a lively, enjoyable atmosphere. Sitting at the bar on a Sunday with drinks, appetizers, chatting to the bartender makes for a wonderful afternoon. The specials change regularly, offering all kinds of new options while keeping the tasty regular menu. Cream of crab soup is one of the best I've ever tasted. The onion rings are the best in world--and I've eaten all over the world. Wonderful beer and drink selection, reasonably priced. First time here. It was a last minute didn't know what to eat type of evening. So we decided to try this place out. Had a glass of beer and a couple of appetizers. Beer was amazing (hard to mess that up) but both of our apps were disappointing. Hummus was bland and dry. Their Cuban Egg Rolls was missing something like more seasoning and the pork was too minced which made it taste mushy. Not sure if I'll return but the foodie in me probably will give them the benefit of the doubt and try them one more time. read more

I can't wait to try even more food from here. I ordered the BBQ burger for my meal. It didn't have much of any BBQ sauce but the burger was FANTASTIC. The flavor and quality of the meat was great. The onion rings on top were tasty too. I opted for the French fries and they were also greats crispy and flavorful. They have many drink and food options available. The service was attentive and the food came quickly despite the place being busy. The venue is rather loud with several TVs. They have a large bar in the middle portion surrounded by high top tables. Last visited when this was "Cheeseburger in paradise" which tells you how long it's been- over a decade for sure. We were grabbing a bite to eat after a movie at Marley station. First off, the beer selection is IMPRESSIVE. They had an entire board dedicated to all of their choices. It had to be near 100 different beers/ales! Our party ordered a variety of things- soup, salad, sandwiches, pizza, etc. I ordered the reuben which was great, but could have used more thousand island. The french fries were delicious as well. The kids pizza was decent, not great. I'm probably spoiled by the quality of Bubba's 33 down the road. The salad looked super impressive. It wasn't your run of the mill few pieces of lettuce. This had two chicken breasts, and tons of veggies to back it up. Two people easily could have shared it and still had some left to take home. I'm told the soup was enjoyable, but other places like Crabtowne do it better. The shock came with how reasonably priced this place is. All of the meals were well under $20, which is appreciated. The only knock I have against this place is charging extra for salads. Onion rings are somewhat understandable, but I have when there's an upcharge and then the salad is nothing special. Given how plentiful the full salad was maybe this place is different, but it seems like they sound allow you to swap out french fries for a salad for no extra change. We'll be coming back for sure the next time we find ourselves nearby on the hunt for a place to eat! read more

I absolutely love this place, it's great for weekday, weekend, a friends birthday, yo birthday, Jesus' birthday, just all around a great place. We really wanted to like this place. A new place that caters to craft brews is always going to be on our list. Plus a friend raves about the other location close to him. I appreciated the COVID precautions. The service was certainly quick and friendly. However the beer I ordered was wrong and come to find out the keg had kicked. That's not anyone's fault but the there is clearly a communication issue. They did have a nice list of craft brews. I got the turkey and avocado club. It was big and fresh but nothing spectacular. Just a solid sandwich. Hubby got the Buffalo chicken sandwich. The batter was coming off the chicken and not very "Buffalo-y". His friend would bring this in and so he was disappointed. The kid got a cheese pizza and it was a basic cheese pizza. Again, no complaints on service or cleanliness or anything like that. Went to this restaurant for dinner. Walked in gave the host my name and number. She stated there was a 20 min wait due to COVID restrictions. Went back out to my car to wait. Was called then went back inside to sit down. We were greeted fairly quick drink order was taken. Beer selection has a lot to offer and they have growlers. Sadly there are pros and cons to being a "scratch" kitchen. Varying ingredients and cooks lead to inconsistent results. When you really like a salad with the chicken tenders and it varies from time to time to time. It is very disappointing. When you look forward to that perfect entree only to have it served the next time with a different quality of ingredients, style of cooking and different style of presentation. Disappointing smh. We were greeted with a smile and immediately seated as there was no wait and plenty of tables were available, our waitress paid us a visit soon after taking our drink and appetizer order. Drinks and then the nachos appeared in due time and the nachos had the requested extra sour cream and jalapenos on the side. The nachos are a good finger food which we've always enjoyed. My wife ordered the El Cubano and substituted a side salad, the roll was thin enough so that the sandwich wasn't too bready. She enjoyed the sandwich, but will ask for less mustard next time, the bite is a bit too much for her. Roughly half of the sandwich and all of the salad came home. The specials menu offered Beef Stroganoff, it was well presented with a bed of wide noodles covered with the Stroganoff's creme sauce, mushrooms, onions and beef. I've used to having beef tips served, but this seemed to be cube steak or something similar, either way it had a mild flavor and was tender and mild. The onions are barely noticed; however, the mushrooms are plentiful with a firm texture making them substantive with a light flavor. The sauce made the dish though, its thick enough to lightly coat the noodles and other ingredients. I enjoyed the beef flavor combined with the (sour?) creme smoothing it out and adding richness. I considered the first few bites deeply seeking the taste of salt and found none. The noodles were a little disappointing, they were not of poor quality or improperly cooked, they are just not what I would have used. I prefer a pasta that is firmer and thinner, while this is thicker with a softer feel that your teeth sink into. I would however order the dish again. read more

First time going to Oscars Alehouse . Wonderful ! The service was so hospitable and friendly . We didn't like the first location where we were seated , and the hostess was very gracious to move us to our choice, that we loved. The server was cheery and eager to please. She was very very good. Attentive to details about our order , so friendly and her timing was impeccable . Never missed a thing, and always making sure we were happy, without being overbearing . The food was REALKY GOOD!! So much do, that I plan to go again soon! And order the same thing . Veggie Burger . It was delicious. Every bite and all the way down to the roll. Toasted yet steamy warm and fresh at the same time . I tried my friends FF's and they tasted like boardwalk fries !!! My friend offered me one of hers , and ended up having several!! My husband and I had lunch at Oscar's for the first time yesterday. A light crowd at the bar and adjoining dining area on a Monday, noon time. We reviewed the menu and both ordered the beef sliders which basically consisted of one burger cut in fours to accommodate the four burgers. Why not make four little patties because a slider should be exactly that! On a more positive note, the onion rings were recommended and with good reason! Battered and seasoned well. We also ordered the fried pickle appetizer and sent it back after both sampling one - way too heavy with the Old Bay Seasoning. In summary ..... Service was attentive and good. Prices reasonable. The ambience, nothing to write home about. The bar area needs an overhaul - being a large bar and sitting in the middle of the restaurant, it is the focal point of the restaurant and should be reflective of that. Definitely falls short in that area, in my opinion. The food was just ok. Would I rush back? No! Having been a customer of the Frederick location, I was excited to try Oscar's in Pasadena, the 4 of us visited on 12/31 at 6:00 pm, the place was not very busy under 30 customers. Our service was slow though there were servers in a booth wrapping silverware nearby. The dish I enjoy the most at the Frederick location is the Cuban egg roll appetizers. The same appetizer at the Pasadena location was very disappointing, appearing more like the size of a spring roll, not filled well and lacking the same mixture of delicious flavors because it was so small. The burgers were good as reported by my fellow customers. The Pasadena location does resemble the same bar type atmosphere as the Frederick location, though Pasadena has many booths. Overall the steak sandwich I had was spicy, containing a marginally acceptable amount of meat. read more

I appreciated the creativity in coming up with this combo, adding Swiss cheese and great, fresh bread. They had unsweetened ice tea, which is a must for me. I usually comment on accessibility. There was just one handicapped parking spot. A restaurant that size could use more handicapped parking spots and a much wider area with a ramp from the lot to access the ramp to the door.
