The end of THIS August (2024), owner of Irv's Basement Bar, Irv Koch will be turning 101 years old. ONE HUNDRED AND ONE YEARS OLD. What a effing legend. Seriously. Irv was a Navy boy who came to Pasadena and made his basement a legit Maryland landmark. There are only two basement dwelling "home" bars in Maryland--Irv's is the oldest. You must come in this summer to play pool, listen to music on Irv's beloved jukebox and grab a beer or two (he has twist off wine and cocktails too but mainly beer). Please note that it is CASH only. Images have not yet been updated due to the fact that the famous bar ceiling has been pulled down to mildew and mold formation. BOOOO! The bar ceiling was the perfect backdrop for picture taking, haha. Guess we will all just have to start revamping the wall! Bonus points if you can sing Patsy Cline -- he always serves a bottle when I sing his favorites =) Such a sweet man with so much history. I can sit at his bar and listen to his stories forever.

Irv's Basement Bar deserves every one of these five stars! This hidden gem has an unbeatable vibe--dark, cozy, and just the right amount of gritty charm that makes you feel like you've stumbled into something special.

I'm so happy I got to meet Mr. Irv last night. What a kind, funny, and laid-back man. He's 101 and still slangin beers in his little basement bar on the water for over 60 years. Amazing views from the property when you pull up. Will be back soon

Glad we were able to stop in before they closed. Got to spend some good time with Irv learning about the history of the bar.

Irv is a living legend. The person who gave this place 2 stars is clearly a giant douche.

02/20/26 5 Stars **…read more Wife and I were in Annapolis for a doctor's appointment, and afterwards she asked, "Where are you taking me for lunch?" I jumped on Yelp and started searching. I had heard about a seafood place in Severna Park, but I wasn't in the mood for seafood. That's when I came across Betty Lou's. As soon as I looked at the food photos, I knew that's where we were headed. It was about a 20 minute ride from Annapolis not bad at all. Betty Lou's is located in a shopping center. There were a few cars in the lot when we pulled up, but I wasn't sure if they were there for the restaurant or other businesses nearby. When we walked in, there was one person sitting at the bar. We asked if we could sit there, and the bartender (don't remember her name) was very pleasant and welcoming. She thanked us for coming in, and when I mentioned I found the place on Yelp, she explained that everything is made fresh to order. They have an excellent selection of craft drinks on the menu, the assortment of cocktails and wines that look very good. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I had the Jimmy Red Old Fashioned. The drink looked fantastic, and she took her time carefully measuring each ingredient. That's how cocktails are supposed to be made balanced and flavorful, not just tasting like straight liquor. If I wanted that, I'd just order bourbon neat. For lunch, my wife ordered the meatloaf with collard greens and roasted potatoes. I had already decided on the chicken pot pie after seeing it online. I did find it a little strange they don't offer mashed potatoes as a side with meatloaf, that would've made it a home run in my opinion. When the food arrived, everything looked excellent. The pot pie was larger than I expected compared to the pictures, and the meatloaf was a generous portion as well. After the first bite, I can honestly say it was one of the best chicken pot pies I've had loaded with tender chicken, carrots, onions, celery, and a rich, flavorful gravy. And the pastry crust? The BEST I've ever had. It was big enough that I had leftovers for dinner. My wife's meatloaf was tender and flavorful, and the collard greens were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The roasted potatoes were just okay again, mashed would've put it over the top but that's just personal preference. She also had plenty leftovers for dinner. The food was great, the décor was nicely done, and the service was excellent. If this place were closer to home, it would definitely be a regular spot for us. We need something like this down in Calvert County. Overall, if you're looking for a great meal and well-crafted drinks, Betty Lou's is absolutely worth the drive even if you live a little ways away.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Friends of ours said we should check out…read moreTuckers so wife and I stopped in the other day around 6pm. Walked in and maybe about 10 customers with some at the bar and some at the tables. We went up to the bar grabbed a couple of seats and bartender asked what we wanted. We let her know it was our first visit to which she replied with an unenthusiastic "...welcome". That was it. I then asked what draft beer they had and she condescendingly let me know that "we don't have draft beer". Maybe it's just me but when people come into a bar that doesn't have a kitchen or draft beer for the first time the bartender/server might want to lead with those 2 tidbits of information. Also maybe 1. Since you don't have draft beer, is there other stuff you don't have that most people would think would be there? 2. How does the ordering food work with the food truck? Do we go get it ourselves or do we order inside? 3. If we're there during happy hour, which I think we were (I'm still not sure) maybe let us know what the food and drink specials are. 4. Even if we're not here during happy hour, since it's our first time there maybe you let us know when happy hours and specials are anyway for future reference. As for the rest of the visit, we got 2 beers and listened to the bartender break down boxes and complain to other staff the whole time. I guess we'll try them again now that we know the deal.

Tuckers Bar is top notch from open to close. Taxes service. Food trucks. Amazing drink specials…read more Great bartenders. Who could ask for anything more.!!! #Tuckers #pasadena
