They prepare a full breakfast menu all morning, and a nice array of comfort-food the rest if the day. This was our first time here, and we were welcomed like regulars. We both felt like the fried fish, halibut i think, and we got one sandwich and one platter with fries. They served us hefty thick filets, lightly breaded, freshly fried and piping-hot. The halibut was mild-flavored, ready for our favorite sauces and seasoning. I like variety, and had some with salt and pepper, simple and delicious. We had some with genuine Tabasco, which to me is more flavorful than some of the sweeter hot-sauces, though i like those too. I ate it in the old style, which is to sauce the bread. It creates a creamy texture and makes it easy to get just the right amount of heat that I want with each bite. And Willy's served a thick creamy tartar sauce that is very satisfying. The fries were hot and crisped and quite generous. We liked Willy's welcoming staff. They seemed to like the place and the customers, and they seem to know many as regulars. And the customers filled the room with a soothing background of happy chatter. I can't tell you how comfortable it felt. We heard that breakfast fills up early on weekends, so we might not try to bring a large group during those hours. We will definitely be back :-)

The server, Tara P, did a great job -- she was the one bright spot. The bigger problem is cleanliness. The ambiance has gone downhill significantly, and there were several flies buzzing around the dining room. One even tried to land on my toast, which was pretty gross. I was not impressed whatsoever. If this is the new normal, they need to fix it immediately. I'd give it another shot once things improve, but right now this is a two.

We ordered the Maryland Rockfish, Herb-Crusted Salmon, and the Shrimp & Crab Imperial. Everything was delicious, with the Shrimp & Crab Imperial standing out as the highlight of the meal. What made the visit even better was the friendly, welcoming, and accommodating staff. The young man who greeted us was very courteous and ensured I received the window seat I requested, which set a positive tone right away. A special mention goes to Ari, who was knowledgeable, personable, and attentive throughout our visit. Ari's warm and engaging personality made us feel genuinely welcomed and well cared for. We enjoyed the experience so much that we will definitely be back. We were so eager to dig in that we forgot to take photos beforehand, which says a lot about how good everything looked and tasted. Great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Service was good; our waitress was friendly and they were attentive about keeping drinks full. Orders came out quickly and accurate My bf ordered chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. I ordered a New Orleans panini (Cajun seasoned chicken, mushrooms, Swiss. Also came with onions which I omitted) and subbed mac and cheese in place of fries. The mashed potatoes were very bland and the consistency was meh. Not very creamy or flavorful. The gravy was very good. The steak was also well prepared and good with the gravy. The mac and cheese had a really nice, creamy consistency with a good cheese pull, but also lacked seasoning imo. The panini was very good. The chicken had good seasoning and was tender and the sandwich was nicely pressed and toasty. Prices were fair especially for the large portions, but not accurate to the menu (which a sign on the door warns about, but I still feel accurate prices should be available). Overall, though it was hit or miss I'd return and try some other items. I just wish seasoning was a bit more consistent since I love sides as much as I love mains.

Today I ordered the Traditional with a side of biscuits and gravy. I was overjoyed they used turkey for the gravy so ordered that also. The potatoes were so under seasoned it was a shame. Only square potatoes and salt. Onions, peppers, garlic, and parsley were not invited to the party. The dish also included two eggs, toast, and choice of breakfast meat which I selected the chicken apple sausage patty; which was a little too sweet but when ate with other foods, was ok. With those potatoes being not it, I wished I had went with the Trifecta and grabbed a waffle instead. Our server was very attentive and when I mentioned I was not a fan of the potatoes, she offered me other choices and I grabbed a side of greens. No one really raved about their food and nothing really stood out either from the other dishes ordered: Triathlete, The Godfather Breakfast Bowl, One of their omelets, and the Trifecta. We did enjoy each other's company and our server did a great job with taking care of us. Hopefully I'll remember next time or just order the pancakes or waffles which I don't like ordering from a restaurant because it's so easy for me to make and low cost food lol

Then I ordered another with marmalade, sweetened condensed milk and powdered sugar. Delish! Divine! Now, they don't have American cheese or lingonberries, and I fired the son twice while ordering and once while writing this review. Nevertheless, I begged them to come to Columbia. Forget Merriweather District. We need you in the retail space beneath those apartments on the Columbia Mall property! I learned they actually had plans to expand to Columbia, but COVID did what COVID did... made all dreams deferred. Sigh. This place is so my speed. The food is priced well (perhaps too well), the mom-and-son team is friendly, and the establishment is clean. I visited on a Sunday morning, and there was a decent number of customers coming through while I was there. Now, understand something. This place is 22 minutes from my home, gas is approximately $19 MILLION a gallon, and I don't take showers, put on pants or use my gas for just anyone. But this place? Worth it! There are multiple seating areas, including a traditional dining section near the entrance, a large bar area in the middle, and another section in the back that has more of a patio vibe. Parking was also plentiful, which is always a plus. We started with the wings and got both the Cajun dry rub and garlic parmesan. Both were good, but the Cajun wings were definitely my favorite. For my meal, I ordered the Sunshine Burger with loaded fries. It was messy, but delicious. My wife got the salmon, and my daughter had the kids tenders. Everyone enjoyed their food, portions were generous, and the prices felt fair for what we got. Service was great throughout the meal. Our server checked in consistently, made sure we had everything we needed, and struck that perfect balance of being attentive without hovering. I also liked that we could pay right at the table when it was time to leave instead of waiting around for the check. What I liked most, though, was the atmosphere. It felt like a real sports bar. People were watching the games, reacting to big plays, talking sports, and genuinely having a good time. I've seen some people complain that it's loud, but that's kind of the point. If you're coming to watch a game, that's the energy you want. It reminded me of the type of place you'd find near a stadium. Nothing fancy, just good food, cold drinks, plenty of TVs, and a fun crowd. It seems to work for a lot of different occasions. You could come here with friends for game day, bring the family out to dinner, or even have a casual date night and enjoy the atmosphere. My entire evening was smooth from start to finish, and I'm already planning to come back with friends to catch a game.

Originally, we planned to go for my birthday, but when we couldn't get a reservation the day before, we made other plans. Fast forward to last week, excited to finally check it out I called to book a table for four for Sunday, August 10th, 2025. That included our friends who recommended the place. During the call, the music in the background made it hard for the hostess to hear me, so I had to repeat my info several times. By the end of the call, she confirmed everything and told me our reservation was set. We all made plans, kids with family, the whole day lined up. This was supposed to be stop #1 before hitting a few more spots together. But when we arrived, the hostess told us our reservation was canceled because we hadn't paid a deposit. This was news to us. No one mentioned a deposit during my call. I checked their website before booking, no deposit policy listed. Our friends even pointed out they'd been there before, sat in the same section they could see from the door, and were never asked to pay a deposit. Instead of trying to help, the hostess told us it wasn't their responsibility to inform customers about the deposit. No apology, no attempt to make it right, just moved on to the next guests while we were left outside figuring out our next move. Later that night, I messaged the business on Yelp hoping to clear things up. The reply I got back felt like an AI-generated template. So careless they even left "Sample Text Below" in the message. That told me everything I needed to know: the staff's behavior is a reflection of the leadership. For a place that only allows brunch with reservations, you'd think they'd have a clear and consistent process. Clearly, that's not the case. I wanted to like Illusions. I still believe in giving a place the benefit of the doubt. But this experience showed me that customer service here isn't a priority, and that's something no good food can make up for.

Also, when you reserve, they send you a link to officially make your reservation and also pay a $20 deposit, that is taken off the check for whomever made the reservation My guest and I were seated in a comfy booth. Our waiter came over and was attentive to our needs/questions and explained how everything worked as "newbies". The buffet brunch was $55. If you want unlimited mimosas (OJ/Pineapple) that was an extra $20 and for flavors (Strabwerry, etc.) is was an extra $25. The buffet menu and "made to order items" were included in the $55. There was also an a la carte option. 18% gratuity is automatically added! DJ AJ Showtime and hostess started playing right before 130p and the restaurant lights were dimmed a bit. Music was great! Various food options (except any kind of desert) and they were all pretty good. There were two women who put food on your plate. It seemed like, we got in line for the buffet on order of seating. We sat down 2nd, so we were first in line. I went back for a 2nd plate (to try the soul food) and there was never a line at all. Mimosas came in a carafe. And midway thru, the guy brought a bottle of champagne to our table! Around 230 the Black Woman owner also came around and gave everyone shots. That was pretty cool, and kept everyone engaged. If you wanted to "dance" it was done in your seat. No people dancing on seats or anything lol Bathroom had 2 stalls, and was tight when you walk in Only hiccup was that it didn't seem like there was any air. Myself, guest and other tables were fanning ourselves down with napkins. Waiter said there is air but so many people in there... I had a great time!
