As far as airport food goes, Miss Shirley's is a good option. If I'm ever near their Concourse A location preparing for a flight, I'll usually stop by because I know the quality for the price will be fair and their menu is clearly marked for gluten free options, among other dietary restrictions. They even have gluten free pancakes! I ordered the garden omelette with bacon grits on the side and it was delicious. Plenty of spinach and cheese to liven up the eggs and the grits were good too. It usually comes with a cheese biscuit but I ordered it without any bread, although they do offer a GF bread option for an additional charge. My only complaint is the omelette also came with red peppers but they were concentrated in one end of the eggs and not fully mixed in. Other than that, service at the bar was friendly and prompt. This is a great option for breakfast or lunch if you find yourself at a gate nearby.

I'd happily order the shrimp and grits again--and that's saying a lot when menus are this tempting.
This is my first visit. Right after halloween. This is why all the waiters were dressed up.. The dishes was ok for breakfast. It's always busy. We waited 30 minutes. We took breakfast plates. The waites was nice. I took a photo with them.
I had a layover at BWI on my way to the Dominican Republic and need a bite. My incoming & outgoing flight were both in terminal A, so I decided to have Miss Shirley's for breakfast! Alana was at the bar and I found a seat right away. I ordered a side of grits that come with bacon in them, and a sausage patty. It came pretty quickly, but the grits were cold, so Alana brought me a fresh bowl, which was warmer. The grits had no taste and the sausage was basic, but I needed something to eat to help me sleep on my next flight. The service was good. It was pretty steady while I was there. There's plenty of seating in the dining area as well as at the bar.
Finding myself on a very early morning flight to Vegas from Baltimore had me hungry and needing fuel for the almost 6-hour flight. A table was available and Joshua B provided excellent service even while hustling to wait on several tables and having to explain that the kitchen was way behind. He wasn't kidding. I ordered what I thought would take minutes to make yet it took over half an hour to get to me. The Caprese Avocado Toast was good, but the kitchen disregarded the "toast" in the toast title. The bread was cold and dry, not toasted, a bit stale. It did have a tasty balsamic drizzle that I enjoyed, along with mozz balls and tomatoes. A cup of coffee (also lukewarm) or two had me on my way to Vegas with at least a snack of a breakfast to tie me over.
Of course you don't before heading to the airport for a super early morning flight. I was not feeling the fast food options after TSA. As I approached my gate, the sign caught my eye. A take out order for a flight "scheduled" to board in 20ish minutes would work. The incoming flight was late but too close to start eating. I ordered the CY Young Omelet (Egg Whites with Applewood-Smoked Bacon, Spinach & White Cheddar) and Plain Grits. There's seating at the bar and in the restaurant. Irving took my order when I walked up to the counter. He was fast and my order was ready before boarding started. By the time I found an aisle seat, I dug into breakfast. Though my meal had gotten cold (and I didn't think to get sugar for the grits. Yes, I said sugar lol) that chef can throw down. The omelet and grits were both delicious! I even enjoyed the biscuit. I was pleasantly surprised and ready to sleep. My niece knows where there is a location in Baltimore. You know what's on my list whenever I'm in town. I'm certainly keeping Miss Shirley's Cafe in mind for my travels out of BWI.
This was a great find in BWI. Saw several other plates of different breakfast food which looks delicious. My caprese chicken sandwich what's delicious period spinach, tomatoes, pesto and freshly grilled chicken which was so juicy and delicious. They do a side of grits with other options. Got mine without bacon and added syrup which was fantastic. Great service and was able to hang out at the table for a while charging and doing some work. Highly recommended and definitely will be back the next time I'm through BWI.
Shrimp and grits was not what I expected but didn't taste bad. My fiancé had fried chicken sandwich and it was dry on the inside. Overall it was ok for airport food. Bartender very courteous and helpful and prompt.
Loved that the first question the waitress asked was "does anyone have food allergies" that was music to my ears. I knew that they would make sure I did not get sick. The food was plenty and tasty.
Ordered the Cáprese Avocado Toast fried egg and I wish I didn't. Very lackluster and silly on my end. Customer service was pretty
We had a long wait between flights so thought this place sounded good for some lunch. We both had the Caprese Avocado Toast. I was a bit surprised when there was just one small piece of toast. It was very tasty though. Staff seemed a bit discombobulated, and there was a grumpy customer two tables down from us. Kinda rude and of course his meal was messed up - he asked for no powdered sugar on his French toast and it had powdered sugar. They apologized of course and brought more out fairly quickly.
The food was very good and the service was great as well. The shrimp on the salad was seasoned to perfection.

I ordered and iced tea and poppy's fried chicken classic with sweet potato fries. It was served super quickly and piping hot. The ranch to Buffalo sauce ratio was perfect (I don't like a lot of spice). There were plenty of outlets available to charge my phone and I really enjoyed my meal. This is also a great spot for airport people watching.

I generally expect airport food to be expensive and to be terrible. Here: excellent beer selections and breakfast all day...crabby omelette, outstanding with a side of grits and a muffin. OK, it was expensive, but you're at BWI! Good service, happy patrons, breakfast at 3 in the afternoon.... read more
This was a pretty good breakfast spot before my flight! I got an omelette which could have been a bit tastier, but the grits on the side were really nice. They were out of their signature biscuits unfortunately even though it was early in the morning. read more

This place shocked me! I have never heard of it until I was in BWI Airport. This was some of the best food I ever had in any airport. It taste like my grandma was back there cooking. Service was good no complaints. I must visit this restaurant outside of the airport. Worth every penny. read more

Great breakfast/brunch meet-up on a Saturday morning. The restaurant was packed. It was my first time at Miss Shirley's Cafe. I can say the service is pretty good. The portions are huge. There was more food served to our table but I managed to get a picture of a few things. Those Fried Green Tomatoes didn't last long at all, nor did the Hot Honey Fried Chicken Deviled Eggs. It's a pretty lively place. Had a pretty good time. read more
Stopped in while on a layover at BWI. My server, Tara, is wonderful. Knowledgeable & willing to accommodate and take note of my food allergies and preferences without hesitation. She's pleasant and she speaks in a very warm and welcoming manner. 5 stars for Tara alone! Solid menu & food options through breakfast to dinner without the menu being overwhelming and unnecessary long. Food came relatively quickly, and it all came hot and delicious. The salad tastes fresh, and the chicken on it is warm and juicy. The sweet potato fries are delicious and not greasy. I do wish they were a tad more crispy, but they're still very good. This will definitely be a go-to place whenever I have a layover that permits it! read more

For airport food this place is pretty good! If you have time to do a sit down restaurant this one is worth stopping by especially if you are in the A terminal, but you need to have about an hour of time to spare. I really liked my salad that I got. I did dressing on the side but I think that was a mistake and I should have just gotten the sauces as is. The salad and other veggies were very fresh. The chicken was perfectly crispy! My husband got one of their chicken sandwiches. I had a bite and it was delicious! I had to take a star off though because it took them a while to seat us even though there were open tables and when they finally did they sat us at a table that hadn't been wiped down yet. Overall though visiting their airport location made me want to visit the real location especially for brunch. read more

This is a sit down restaurant near the end of terminal A. Although we had to wait 20 minutes for a table, they took our phone number to text once a table was ready. Their menu has brunch and dinner options, as well as beer, wine, and cocktails. I enjoyed a delicious and filling crab cake burger that came with a side of (white) grits, paired with a glass of Pinot Grigio. Service was good... food and drinks came out in a reasonable amount of time. read more
This was one of the better airport meals I've had in the US. My only critiques were the one-note buffalo sauce on the chicken, the underripe red tomato, and the nothing-special fruit. The decadent grits and luscious, meaty crab cake were top notch. Everything came out piping hot and crisp. Able and accommodating waitstaff. read more

While waiting for my flight home to Indy from BWI, I decided to get dinner, and Miss Shirley's Cafe was opened, and looked good. Plus, the Indiana Pacers game was playing and I wanted to watch it, and I had a TV all by myself, so that was another reason. I waited about five minutes at the hostess stand before someone greeted me and sat me, and the place was not busy at all. The server who greeted me and sat me, and took my order,was a little passive aggressive with me, and kind of rude, but I let it go. It was near closing time, so I understood that she wanted her shift to end and go home. I ordered the Chicken Caprese sandwich with a side mixed greens salad, and a Dogfish IPA beer. The Dogfish IPA beer was a regular pint and it was $11, which is overpriced for a pint. I was thinking it would be a 20 oz beer for $11, but that was not the case. Keep this in mind if you order a beer here. The sandwich and salad was very good and fresh, but it did not blow me away. The sandwich did lack some flavor and taste, but it was fresh. The mixed greens salad was delicious though. The service was Ok and decent from the server, but she still had that attitude and passive aggressiveness towards me. I would not come back here for dinner or lunch personally if I fly through BWI again just because of the experience. The food was Ok, but it did not impress me to be honest. The ambiance is nice and has large screen TVs all over the place, but it is just not attractive enough for me to come back and dine here again. This was definitely a miss for me. Miss Shirley's Cafe was not #1 for me this time around. read more

I orderd a mimosa and it was done very well- not a ton of juice, just the way I like it! I ordered the avocado toast, and it was very "MEH," nothing to write home about, although it has great potential. If it was served on a different bread, it would be WAY better, but the think wheat toast it was served on was really not good. The service was good, considering it being an airport spot (usually poor service, but this one wasn't bad). I sat at the bar and was taken care of, even as it got busy. I would go again, especially if it was between this or something else. read more

First time visit. Server was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very clean to say it's in an airport with heavy traffic. Josh my server is absolutely amazing. Not only did he assist the customers in the restaurant a gentleman came up and ask where can he get something quick he assisted him as well. Now for the good part. I received my food quicker than I anticipated The crab cake is absolutely amazing. I also had hash brown they were tasty as well. I ordered the strawberry fresh squeezed lemonade very delicious If you are ever in Baltimore airport it's located by gate A16. read more

Food was alright. Large portions. If you're in a rush to catch a flight, move on. Slow service. A couple people seated next to me inquired about the wait service, like does anyone work here? Took a while to place an order but I had a 4 hour layover so I was good. Fries came out cold, had to let waitress know and she was kind to bring out a hot order. Had to ask for water twice.. It's evident the staff look tired. Maybe understaffed. Apparently some food inspection violations that I didn't read til later/after eating here. read more

For an airport joint, this place is great. Warm service with a smile. I took seat at bar to get order in quick. Had an hour to kill before my flight and it's was right near my gate. Got some grits and coffee. Grits came with tomatoes which I hate, and they could service without. Grits were damn good for airport food. Served fast & hot. Coffee could have been hotter to my liking but caffeine is caffeine, and I needed some stat. Definitely would eat here again and grab a drink. I'm in this airport at least couple times a year so definitely will be back if I have an A gate trip again read more
