First time trying 9Five. We went for brunch. The tvs were showing the Sunday football games. It wasn't very crowded at all so we were immediately seated and attended to throughout our time. Came for Saturday Brunch. Love that they had a DJ because he turned brunch into a full on day party. The bartenders were great and made pretty strong drinks. The food came at a reasonable time. Food was good but some things were much better than others. The skillet cornbread was heavily! Biscuits were good but the apple butter had a weird taste I didn't care for. I would have preferred them with jam. I also had the fried catfish and grits. The catfish was so good. The grits were good too but the gravy on the grits were a little salty and way too peppery. Because of that, I couldn't fully enjoy my grits. Also, for bottomless drinks (mimosas and sangrias), it would be great if they had pitchers and carafes because when the bar got backed up, some of the ladies at my table and I would have to wait for long periods for our glasses to be refilled. Everything about this place is great. Music as advertised -- chill crowd, great service, and great food. Definitely coming back.

At the entrance to your left is the sports bar w/ flat screens, to your right is the dining room. Servers were disorganized. It is worthy of note that the entire staff was very polite. We observed high school to college aged, young adults trying their hardest to provide quality service and attend to all of the patrons. All of the food was delicious. The crab cakes were generous in size and delicious, as were the chicken wings. French fries were cooked to perfection as was the baked potato. I suggest the addition of a sound proof wall, to separate the sports bar portion from the dining room. It was noisy and disruptive trying to eat dinner while bar patrons were screaming at referees and other patrons were cheering their favorite players on. Music was also being played - it was a lot to deal with. There are a few rough patches that need to be ironed out, a staff member was literally counting all of the money at one of the tables. There were approximately 6 tables of patrons in the dining room and the bar was full as well. This definitely poses a security risk. Overall, low key vibe, sports bar side has a neighborhood hang out vibe, the food is good, wait staff is attentive tho disorganized - all tables should have salt, pepper, ketchup and patrons may ask for hot sauce, tartar sauce etc. When we asked, the server brought us a family sized bottle of Heinz 57 ketchup. With a few improvements this could be the "IT" spot for watching sporting events. The floor is gorgeous. This could be an amazing place for line dancing, hand dancing etc., with a good DJ. read more

I ordered the Brussel sprouts and candied yams. The Brussel sprouts were delicious. Perfect texture and the sauce was very flavorful. I didn't care for the yams. They weren't sweet enough, but were okay, not bad. Service was iffy. Waiter disappeared after I ordered and returned when I was ready to pay so other staff had to assist me when I got tired of looking around for her. Place was empty so idk what the issue was with her service. However, overall the people were nice. Spacious inside... good size parking lot. Decor is okay. I will return to try other items. I need to first emphasize that the food was good, but my overall experience was disappointing. While the atmosphere was nice, but pretty empty. When I approached the restaurant, it almost look like the place was abandoned and closed because it was so dark in the windows and you actually have to go towards the opposite side of the building to enter. I even checked their website to make sure they had operating hours today. I was immediately greeted pleasantly and seated. The service was fine. The server was attentative and took my order fairly quickly. As you can see from the pictures, I ordered deviled eggs, the Berry salad, and brussels sprouts. The salmon was a little small but seared to perfection and still quite rare on the inside, which is what I would prefer. So often, restaurants tend to overcook the salmon, which makes it dry. The salad had a nice mixture of blueberries, mandarins, and candied pecans. The deviled eggs were good, but not really anything beyond average, although I could've added shrimp and / or bacon which I declined. Because I already had an appetizer, I decided to only order brussels sprouts as a side item, and I did not want to overeat. I was pleased with the dinner until the check came when I noticed that I was overcharged compared to their online menu, which is also included in the pictures. While I can understand that the website may not be updated, I don't believe it was appropriate to charge me almost $50 for what I ordered. After I called, the manager agreed that the brussels sprouts were overcharged by almost half. I do appreciate his accepting the responsibility, but unfortunately I won't be able to get my refund since he needed my credit card and I was leaving town. With all the available options in the area, and really nothing unique about this place, I would not return. read more

We decided to visit on a Friday evening right before 8 pm. Apparently Friday nights are reserved for DJ Karl with a K, we didn't know the treat we were in for. We were greeted immediately by the hostess Tia, who actually became our server as well and was fabulous by the way. While the music was loud, it was enjoyable.....the people dancing at their tables was proof the DJ was doing his job. Now let's talk about this food. We began with the crab eggrolls, they were ok. They come with four pieces per order and a sweet chili sauce, which I think a romalaude would better compliment the eggrolls, but overall they were ok for $18. For our mains I ordered the catch of the day which was a choice of catfish or whiting, I chose catfish, fried of course and it came with two sides so, I got cabbage and macaroni and cheese which is served in a cast iron skillet. He chose the fish and chips which came with 3 pieces of whiting and handcut fries. Overall our meals were good, I kind of wished my fish was fried a little harder, but I know to make the request next time. The portion of my meal was so much that I ended up taking half of it home and it was affordable at $22 and there was nothing left of the fish and chips with another affordable pricetag of $18. We also had two drinks a piece. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely return. Parking is plentiful and free. It seems like they have themed nights almost nightly and I'm excited to try other nights, like karaoke. If you're in the area, drop in you won't be disappointed! read more

I placed a pickup order at 9:20 PM and was told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. When I arrived, I let the staff know I was there for my order and was told it would be another 5-10 minutes. After waiting and checking a couple of times, I finally got my food around 10:00 PM -- 40 minutes after ordering. I ordered a salmon Caesar salad and a crab & shrimp artichoke dip. The salad came without any Caesar dressing -- I had to ask for it separately. The salmon was being kept warm under a lamp while the spinach dip didn't even have crab or shrimp, just spinach and cheese. They did put the salmon back in the oven, which was nice, but the food just didn't feel fresh or properly prepared. On the plus side, the drinks were strong and reasonably priced, and the DJ created a fun vibe. But for the food -- especially with a 40-minute wait for pickup -- it wasn't worth it. I'm a Pumphrey local. I love the location and I love being able to support my community. The staff is always welcoming. The crowd is an interesting mix, can't say I go there for the people.I stopped in Saturday to watch the Preseason Ravens V Cowboys game, after walking out of another bar due to a bad experience. I think I was just having bad luck for awhile because my order of wings took too long to come out and when they did they were burnt AND cold. Must be me! I'm being punished for something. I told Justin, my server and he quickly understood the assignment. My replacement order did take just as long but when they got to me they were PERFECT! Fairly new family black owned business. The place was practically empty. The food was pretty good. They have great happy hours specials. Monday night was $4 margaritas which didn't disappoint. Everything was great up until I moved from the bar and sat at the table with my other friends that came in. The server nor bartender was knowledgeable on wine. My best friend asked for Prosecco and was brought a red wine... sent it back to be sent a rose .... They lost a star for this. My mother and I came here for lunch after a business meeting. The restaurant is spacious, neat, and clean. It boasts a large bar area as well as a modest dining room upon entry. There are multiple large televisions displayed. There's also a jukebox. The staff were very professional, personable, and friendly. They were eager to serve offering most ordered menu selections and their personal food preferences, providing details about the establishment, upcoming events, seasonal menus, as well as letting us tour the place. It's large with plenty of space for hosting events which they do regularly and offer for rent. The food was delicious as well. We ordered the crab and spinach dip, old bay wings, side of greens, and salmon bites. The spinach and crab dip with the crispy chips... YUM. My overall experience continues to get better with each visit. We were expecting a snowstorm so I thought I would rather be snowed in with food from 9Five than to just be snowed in. I was greeted by "Treven" (hope I spelled your name correctly) when we arrive. He greeted us with a great big smile making us feel welcome. The atmosphere there is just remarkable. There were 11 TV screens so you can watch your favorite game or show. Pebbles and Treven, it was both a pleasure meeting and talking with you both. They have a bar section in addition to a regular dining, they also have space that can be reserved for private parties. The server was very nice but a little unsure. She was still in her first week, so we'll give her some grace. The food was really good, worth one caveat. The menu says they offer a smash burger. It's NOT a smash burger. It seemed to be a regular 1/3 pound burger. With that said, it was very good. They have $4.00 margarita Mondays and karaoke on Wednesdays. read more

I love the decor in this restaurant. It's well lit and the tapestry that separates the main dining area from the bar area is beautifully strung with lights. I was here for a party with about 30 people. Out server Devin was satisfactory and very cheerful. I do think they should have had an additional server working with Devin because it took a very long time for him to get everyone's orders. This resulted in some people getting entrees before some of us had even gotten appetizers. As far as food, I got the crab egg rolls and they were quite tasty. Nice and meaty with very little filler. They come with a sweet and sour sauce. My main entree was the grilled veggies and pasta. It comes with a medley of broccoli, peppers, mushrooms, garlic, sun dried tomatoes, onions and Parmesan with olive oil drizzled on it. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, but this dish lacked flavor for me. A pesto sauce would be perfect on this or even some ribbons of fresh basil. My family got the following and on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, here's how they rated their food. I went here with my wife on a date night because it was close to the light rail. We planned on taking it into Baltimore to catch a concert. We ordered dinner and drinks. My wife's dinner came promptly and so did the first round of drinks. After my wife almost finished her meal I asked the waitress to check on my food and it was then she said that the kitchen didn't have what I ordered. Mind you I ordered off the menu they gave me and they waited a good 30 - 40 minutes to tell me I needed to order something else. From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming and incredibly friendly. Wife and I moved into the area at the beginning of the year. 9Five wasn't operating at the time. We were passing by last night and noticed they were open and thought we'd give it a try. Glad we did! We tried a couple items from the appetizer menu: crab egg rolls and jerk chicken sliders. Both were terrific! The sliders were very spicy, which is how we like them.
