They have $20 unlimited wings on Thursdays...WORTH IT! I tried Caribbean Jerk (smelled like BBQ, wasn't my favorite), Honey Old Bay (OMG!), Lemon Pepper, and regular Old Bay. The service is phenomenal (Kashmir was so sweet and on point about those Honey Old Bay wings), the establishment is clean, LOVE the art, ample space to dine, and there's plenty of parking. My only gripe was the way the bathroom was designed. The sinks are located directly behind the door and it swings in, so there's a good chance it'll slam into someone. Would I go back? 100%. I saw someone's order of mozzarella sticks and they looked phenomenal, and what's better than wings and mozzarella sticks? :D
I live super close to this spot, and although I don't love the food, the drinks never disappoint. Came here to sit on the patio and enjoy a couple alcoholic drinks for the evening. The waitress was kind enough to give her suggestions and I decided to take it! I got a tropical drink and my friend got a blackberry mule. Both were delicious and the patio is great!
Found this place randomly while out in Catonsville and the atmosphere was already lively at 2-3 pm on a Friday the bar was already packed. But there were plenty of open tables inside and on the outside patio. I sat at the bar first, but started to feel too crowded to eat, so I moved outside where it was more quiet and roomy. The wings were good, crispy and fresh and the fries were way better than I expected. They're like a mix between a potato wedge and curly fry, which I'd never seen before. The drinks are good and they don't skimp on the liquor! Good happy hour specials too. They have live music and karaoke on certain days as well.
State Fare has a really good happy hour if you can make it before 5 PM. They offer half off appetizers and alcohol, although keep in mind they automatically add 20% gratuity. The outdoor patio was nice, dog friendly, and a great spot to sit on a warm day. Service was friendly and our waiter was nice, although things moved a little slowly. The best drink we had was the Mister Marshmallow ($15), made with bourbon, toasted marshmallow syrup, and Aztec chocolate bitters. It was slightly smoky and sweet. The Maryland crab dip ($16) was very cheesy and came with Old Bay pita chips. There was plenty of cheese and decent crab flavor, but it only came with one small chopped up celery stick and no blue cheese or ranch. Overall the crab dip was a pass for me. The fried catfish sandwich ($16) was good. The catfish was cornmeal crusted and crispy and came with coleslaw and pickles on a roll. It came with a choice of Old Bay chips or fries, and the fries were crispy and good. The shrimp patty sliders ($16) were interesting. They are more like ground shrimp cakes with lettuce, tomato, and their bang bang sauce. They were decent, but needed more spice. I asked for inferno wing sauce on the side, which helped a lot. The Maryland crab soup was a disappointment. It came out lukewarm and was very thin. The flavor was flat and honestly tasted more like something from a can. It could have used more acidity, more depth of flavor, and definitely more crab meat. Overall, State Fare is worth checking out for the happy hour deals, drinks, and patio.
I haven't been here in a little while so had no idea they had changed up the menu since my last visit. They had some interesting cocktails and food items. I started off with an Old Fashioned. It was whiskey Wednesday so all whiskey shots and cocktails were have off from 8 pm until closing time at 2 am. It's was rather sweet but not bad at all. For my food item I had the Lasanwhich. It's exactly what it sounds like. Lasagna on two pieces of Texas toast. It was good but very heavy. I could only eat half. The dining area was sparsely occupied but the bar was packed with not an empty seat to be found. I was with a group of 6 of us. We had a good time and the vibe was chill. They had karaoke beating set up right as we were leaving. May have to try it out one day but I am no singer lol.
My wife and I stopped into State Fare in Catonsville after work for a quick bite, and we both had burgers on the brain. I was fully prepared to order the "build your own smash burger" until my eagle-eyed wife noticed the "All-American Burger" on the menu. Pro-tip: it's a bit cheaper and comes with exactly what you'd probably build anyway, two smash patties, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. We both ordered that, added bacon, and got it with the State Fare sauce (their take on Thousand Island). The food was all around solid. Is it the best burger I've ever had in my life? No. But it is a really good fix when you are craving a classic burger. The crispy wedge fries that came with it were a great side, too. Honestly, we were so hungry when the food hit the table that we completely forgot to take pictures at the beginning. All we have to show for it is a picture of the to-go box with what was left! Solid spot, we enjoyed it.
Came here for a casual meal with a larger group. Waitress was good, had football on, and dining room was pleasant. We had brussel sprouts to start and they were very good! Had the southern plate, crab cake sandwich and smash burger. All meals were good. Overall a pretty big oof experience.
When Statefare first opened, I wasn't the biggest fan. However, in the past 5 years I've come to love this restaurant. It's a great location. Right in the heart of Catonsville, there's a huge parking lot. And if you're in the mood for bar hopping there's other great places near by. The interior is a great size. Nice and spacious with some cool art. And the service is great Jimmy, is ALWAYS attentive, friendly and he makes the best drinks. On my first visit many years ago I hated their wings... it was the sauce. Now, they have it right. The wings are nice and crispy, and full of flavor. The Potstickers and Big Stick (mozzarella sticks) are good as well. They also make really good burgers. Me and my friends like to come for Whiskey Wednesday. It's 1/2 off whiskey and they also have karaoke that starts at 10pm. So if you need a little liquor courage there you go lol. This visit I tried the Beaumont Manhattan and the New Old Fashion. The Manhattan was perfect. This Old Fashion was ok, I personally didn't like the taste of absinthe. However they do make really good Classic Old Fashions and Smoked.
Monique!! Great service and tended the bar exceptionally!! Quiet off day @1130am! I really love that breakfast options are available after 11. By the looks of the photo... we well enjoyed our impromptu day date. For your taste buds, the shrimp n grits were delicious buttery, a little spice, chorizo and shrimp were cooked perfect with the best sautéed peppers n onions. I typically just get the dish without the chorizo..but he enjoyed! The cream of crab soup doesn't have much crabmeat, but I added a few seasoned shrimp and wall... GONE!! THE DRINKS WERE MADE JUST RIGHT!! Stop on in and eat Great!!
This was my first time here and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. When we arrived it was just before 2pm. Our waiter came over before we ordered to inform us that it was 2:01pm and explained the happy hour menu and prices. I ordered salad and lemon pepper wings. The wings were cooked just to my liking and the salad was so fresh. My dressing was Parmesan vinaigrette and it was delicious. I wish they sold it by the bottle because I would buy it that's how good it was. I must say I will be back for sure!
My first experience with State Fare was delivered by my AA, sight unseen. I was impressed with my meal, which was a chopped Italian sub. I enjoyed it so much I took the husbae there a few weeks later, and he ordered the smashed burger, and I ordered the Steve-O breakfast, which was ok. We came back today, and we ordered the All-American burger, which was good. Burgers were juicy and tasty. I enjoyed the butteriness of the bun, and those fries or twisty fries were yummy. The service has always been very good and our waiter today was very efficient a tentative. Our order was correct the first time. The restaurant is like bar with a full bar, plenty of seating. I would definitely come back and try something different on the menu. Oh, and it was more than enough food!

I was extremely impressed with the service this morning! Our server, Collin, provided top-tier service and truly went above and beyond to put a smile on my granddaughter's face, which is no easy task because she can be very hard to win over. That extra effort really made our visit special. The restaurant was clean, the food was delicious, and everything came together to create a wonderful dining experience. Although I visit this restaurant often, this is now the second week in a row that I've received excellent service. Consistency like that definitely deserves recognition Collin really made our morning such a pleasant one, his outstanding service and kindness did not go unnoticed! read more

My go to for whiskey! In fact, Whiskey Wednesday is my favorite time to come here. Starting at 8 pm, all whiskey drinks and pours are 50% off! It's a great chance to try something new. I've been coming here for years and never had a bad experience. I've done brunch, happy hour and dinner. I've introduced so many folks to this place and they also continue to come. Some from far away! There's pleny of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking isn't an issue - big lot and metered street parked! Staff here is very friendly! Shout out to Jimmy! Thank you! read more
DRINKS: El Guapo: Almeca Altos blanco tequila, fresh lime juice, simple syrup. Make it premium with Grand Marnier $4; Add a flavor: $1 [strawberry, jalapeño, blackberry, blueberry] CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS: Cooked with roasted onions and prosciutto drizzled w/ balsamic glaze. These cruciferous orbs were braised, scorched and covered JUST the right way. SCORE! Raspberry BBQ Wings: Served with celery and I chose Blue Cheese dressing. These were an unexpected hit. I'm not a big fan of wings but these were phenomenal. BIG PLUS - the Blue Cheese tasted freshly made w/ BIG CHUNKS! SCORE! Pastrami Sandwich: Thin sliced pastrami, on toasted marble rye, w/ brown mustard spread, coleslaw, swiss cheese and pickles. This sandwich was so good, I'm convinced someone in that kitchen is straight from a NY deli. SCORE! Sloppy Joe rolls: overcooked. Not as flavorful as they normally are Brussel Sprouts: AMAZINGLY GOOD w/ prosciutto Pastrami sandwich Raspberry BBQ w Great maiden voyage. This is not a first for me or my husband. Today, was in need of deliciousness and warmth. And it did not miss. The espresso martini was a hit and the meal was well seasoned and comforting. I'll be sure to cozy up under a blanket after this impromptu lunch. The ambiance is pretty basic. But that is okay when you are looking for a good meal! And Cerra took great care of us. Our server was pleasant and offered suggestions throughout the visit, notifying us of the reduced price appetizers because of the all day happy hour. Came here for my High School alumni festivities. Had a great time seeing old friends. And on top of that the food was awesome. We came around 8 on a Friday evening before it got packed. They had a DJ too. My friend and I shared the Big Mac egg rolls. I didn't really like them. I think it had too much sauce in it. Next was the Brussel sprouts, they were crispy and very well seasoned. My favorite was the crab pretzel. It was so good! This is my go to but I probably wouldn't get it again lol! But I'll be back again, everything was good and service was awesome and it was really busy. read more
Stopped in here for lunch and loved it! Plenty of parking on site which is not a given in this area. They are currently doing all day happy hour on Tuesdays while the govt is shutdown - 50% off apps and anything from the bar. 20% grat added before discount. A steal! The food and drinks were delightful - we had the potstickers, crispy Brussels sprouts, and crab dip. Our server was attentive and friendly, and the drinks were excellent. Plenty of tables inside and they were jumping! There is a bar area as well with TVs. We enjoyed our lunch here and will be back! read more

This is my first time going to state fair. It was really nice inside. It was definitely not what I expected! There's a full bar, nice decor, outside seating. It was pretty spacious and the crowd was pretty controllable. My friend ordered the mozzarella sticks that were huge and so tasty! I got the deviled eggs (so good), the chicken and waffles which and mimosa was basic, but good and got the job done. Definitely had to give a review because our waiter Colin was great. It's official, I will not return to this establishment! How ridiculous. The last time I went to State Fair, I sat at the bar completely unacknowledged While others came up was acknowledged and offered drinks and police orders. I finally got up and left out. But my friend wanted to meet and Catonsville, I selected two other restaurants before we decided to go to state fair. This is only after we went to the first restaurant and it was completely dead and they didn't have a bar. We walked into State Fare and all of the bar seats were taken so we decided to sit at a table next to the window since the whole restaurant was able to order happy hour. I will skip my normal review and focus on how absurd it was that they charged us gratuity based on the full menu price. They really tried to be slick and charge us the full price and then give us a discount for the happy hour prices so that they could charge gratuity based upon the full amount of the items. They also tried to be slick because they do not have a happy hour menu, instead they use their regular menu and tell you everything is half off of apps and drinks. Another way for them to be conniving and deceptive. On the bottom of the menu it does state a service charge will be added for groups and happy hour, which the manager was QUICK to state and point out but it is not clear. He also stated they have it written and posted in the front (which we never saw) It should clearly state a service charge will be added to the full price of each dish. Shady practices will only get you so far and I'm pretty sure they have been dependent upon patrons not reading their bills or calculating their service charge personally. When our server brung our bill over I asked for two so that we could pay separately. She made it seem as if it was going to be a problem so I asked her if we could separate it on her tablet/POS thingy majiggy and I would just pay for my items. She rung me up and presented the POS to me and it only had a price on it. I went ahead and paid and then asked her to show me the items I paid for because as I was doing the math in my head as the payment was going through, it wasn't adding up correctly. How did two drinks and one appetizer now become $30? That didn't seem correct for a $18 bill. I asked her where was the list of my items I ordered so that I could double check exactly what I was being charged for. She had some trouble getting it and printed out my receipt instead. That is when I noticed how they rung up my bill. My friend was also calculating her items when I mentioned it beva sure thought her bill was higher than it should be also. When the manager came over, I can see in his eyes that he was anxiously awaiting to give us his to us his spiel after we spoke. He was very defensive and didn't offer any reprieve which help me realize he has this conversation many times with patrons. When my friend pointed out that it was dishonest and she had a lawyer, he was quick to state they have a lawyer also and that really made me clutch my pearls because he definitely was here for it. Visited State Fare for a late dinner Monday night. Luckily they are open late (bar until 2am) and their kitchen stays open until 10pm (some nights they have a later night menu after 10pm). On Mondays they have burger night with burgers and a side starting at $14. They give you a burger card to fill out choosing from a variety of protein and toppings. I ordered the chicken sandwich with mayo, lettuce, tomato, cheese, a fried egg and bacon. The fried egg and bacon was an upcharge. My boyfriend ordered the old bay wings. We sat at the bar. There was a lot of seats and tables available. They had some sports games showing on the tvs behind the bar. The service was good and the bartender was attentive. Definitely check them out if you're in the area! They have brunch and some nights there is a dj! And you can't beat burger night on Mondays, Whiskey Wednesday and Wing Thursday! read more
Stopped by for a late dinner and drinks after a round of golf! We had a flatbread and loaded tots and both came out really good! Love a good balsamic glaze on the Margherita Flat Bread. Popped in to meet an old friend of my wife. Came in without any expectations. It was early in the day and their happy hour already started. The bar was full and spirits in this joint felt good. Ample space and the tables were also populated. Greater as you walked in the door and staff was great, attentive and on point. Like the we on it. Having just in the days dined at national harbor, I must admit the food got me good. Had to drive back to my and the food, sweet tea gave me flavor, love and the energy to drive back up. With people we know in the area , this will be a redo experience should me make it back. Our server was on point. Sorry I forgot you name for a shout out. I'm pretty sure we've been to a State Fare as part of a Yelp event but it's been a long time. We were hungry and annoyed after dealing with Lowe's and this was close by. Even eating at prime time we were quickly seated. The space is open and clean. I will say for a place named state fare and with MD flag to go bags to have big pop art artists on the wall just doesn't make a ton of thematic sense. Seems like a missed opportunity to have location specific decor. Our server was great. Decent drink options and a well stocked bar. They even made one of their mocktails with alcohol for me. Very tasty. Food was really good. A solid turkey BLT triple decker. Hubby got the wrap with Mac and cheese. The kid got Choco chip pancakes. Props for having breakfast all day for kids. Definitely on the Catonsville list. read more
