    Sloppy Joe

Went here for dinner with an old Army buddy who was in town. Had the Sloppy Joe (for a former GI Joe) which was loaded and very good along with a cold Kona draft beer. The atmosphere was pretty cool and the wait staff was extremely friendly. Wish I lived closer as I'd definitely return.

Fun decorations and decor. We went on a Monday and it was quite busy even at 7:30pm We ordered nachos and a burger and the burger was good especially for the price. Burgers are on special for $10 on Mondays. The nachos were good too. Service was quick and friendly.

It was the poor customer service and The limited parking for me. Most of the staff i encountered was flat out rude and not approachable. I didn't care for the crowd or vibes inside either. There is a sign that says "wait here to be seated" but then bar tender told me to seat myself. I personally don't care for "seat yourself " establishments. The menu was basic I was hoping for more options or creativity. To me a basic bar and grill.

    Yuck. Processed bacon bits.

Ordered a chicken, bacon, avocado wrap for carry out. It came stuffed with bacon bits/pieces and an odd flavor. Not something one expects when paying what one pays at a sit down bar and grill style restaurant. If bacon comes on a sandwich/wrap, it should be actual cooked bacon, not pre-packaged bits and pieces.

    Steak Tacos plenty!!

Jilly's was JAMMING TONIGHT!! Tay was thee best!! He was attentive and provided GREAT SERVICE (thanks for welvoming us). Food selection is madd wide, and the portion is off theee hook!!! Now listen, the house music was a surprise as we arrived, so OF COURSE I HAD to go check it out. Lol.. we had a light Food night, but it was GOODT!! DEFINITELY stop by for Ravens games bcuz they have specials and the prices are still very reasonable for the awesome taste.

Fresh shrimp salad on rye and a bowl of Jilly 's Chilli (sans the cheese)- sooooooo good!

I went to Jilly's for lunch with a good friend recently. It was on a Friday afternoon around noon & it was surprisingly buzzing with patrons. I assumed that it would've been quiet because it was so early in the day, but it wasn't! The restaurant has street parking on the front, but it's probably best to park in the back. There's two lots behind Jilly's- one directly on the restaurant's grounds, and one across the road. Be sure not to park on the lots of the businesses next door- I definitely saw tow signs and I didn't want to find out if they actually did or not. Anyhoo, the restaurant on the inside is pretty much like the normal sports bar set up- a bar towards the front, tables and booths- nothing extraordinary. It was neat and clean. Kinda dark, but that wasn't a bad thing, just an observation. The tables weren't totally filled when we came, but by the end of our lunch, it was a packed house! I wanted something kinda light, so I settled for the half shrimp salad sandwich combo with chili (no cheese). My friend decided upon the shrimp salad wrap and fries. Everything WAS SO GOOD!!! The chili was meaty, fresh and so flavorful! The onions paired well, adding additional flavors. I tried a few fries & they were delicious and crispy. I dipped them into the chili-absolute chef's kiss! They were delicious and crispy. The shrimp salad was the star of the show! I had the salad on rye and it was just fantastic! Fresh, plump shrimp with juuust the amount of Old Bay & mayo. Ugh! I wish I had it right now! I'm definitely going back one day soon to get exactly what I had again, lol! Maybe I'll try the sandwich on a Kaiser roll next time. While Jilly's isn't on my side of town, I'll take a little ride over for that shrimp salad and that delectable chili. 5 stars across the board!

This place was great. One mistake on yelp is their hours. They opened until 10. Kitchen closes at 9:30 Place was clean. With sports on all tvs. Nice bartenders. Quiet crowd. Food was good. Order of Jillian salad with tuna salad - oh my god- the portion was huge. Mozzarella sticks were not that great. Not enough cheese and a bit over fried Buffalo chicken wrap with fries was fantastic If in the area - give it a try Ps: Parting in the Pikes cinema was great alternative to the on-site parking

Parked on the parking lot in the back. Stopped here for lunch. Even though you enter in the back you have to go to the front only for us to be told that we could seat ourselves. It was busy for the time of day. It had a pretty neat decor. Customers and workers were very friendly. I ordered stuffed grouper with a Caesar salad and Mexican rice. Next time I will pass on the rice. I didn't care for it. I ordered a margarita for my drink. It was delicious. You could definitely taste the liquor. I can't wait to return. I saw many other things on the menu that I would like to try. This was definitely a good choice.

Pappas in Cockeysville came up in a couple of influencers' lists, so we made the 1 1/2 hour drive north to experience it for ourselves. We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday morning and chose to sit on the restaurant side (versus the sports bar side). Our meal started with soft rolls right out of the oven and vinegar-y cucumbers. My wife had some them while I passed on them for I don't like cucumbers. Obviously, we later ordered the single crab cake entree with two sides ($33.99). I chose the fries and the up-charge for a Caesar salad while my wife picked the coleslaw and mashed potatoes. The crab cakes did not disappoint! Even though it was a hot day outside, they kept the restaurant very cold. After we ate, I didn't notice it as much because I was so full. A final note is the lunch crowd started coming in around 12:15pm.

Locales and visitors enjoying a Monday dinner - crab cakes or pasta seemed to be popular. The latter may be attributed to the $2 pasta discount on Mondays. The quintessential basket on the table of stale cracker packets and tiny plastic containers of butter probably sitting out 24/7. Meh- why "Oprah" would order her crab cakes from here when the crab is not from Maryland, right? Once I heard that news from the waiter ( I asked, it was not volunteered) I opted for the local soft shell crab special. ( despite it not being season, I should have known better. It was a puny crab with hardly any meat and it was not properly cleaned either. Sides of overcooked brocolli and asparagus. Baked potatoes looked liked yesterday's overcooked option. My colleagues enjoyed the crab cakes which were large portions- should be for $40+ each. Service was friendly, food took too long- it was a long wait for mediocre overpriced food.

We ordered the shrimp and grits, oysters rockefeller, shrimp sandwich, french toast, crab cake benny, a coffee cocktail, and regular coffee. Overall, everything was just okay, not terrible, but not something I'd rush back for either. The biggest letdown was the shrimp and grits. It came with what looked like a spoonful of grits, which was disappointing. We mentioned it to our waitress, and she brought us some extra grits to go, which I appreciated. The crab cake benny was decent, but the crab cake itself didn't have much flavor. The $12 coffee mocktail also wasn't worth the price in my opinion. We ended up ordering the beignets for dessert, but had to send them back because they were raw in the middle. The service was okay but it could definitely be better. I will say they tried to fix the issues we brought up, which I appreciated. I've been to the O'Donnell Street location a few times, and honestly, I've had much better food and drinks there. If you're in the area and have been wanting to try this location, I'd still say give it a shot because everyone has different experiences. It just didn't wow me this time. Guilford Hall: Profs & Pints…read more I went to the Profs & Pints event that's hosted at Guilford Hall. So this is a 2 in 1 review. Food: Black Garlic Truffle fries: really great balanced flavors. My only complaint is the fries could've been a little crispier but that could be due to the long line of orders, it may have been waiting under the lamps because the kitchen is filling orders for both upstairs and downstairs. The truffle sauce was like an earthy, Smokey bbq sauce. I really enjoyed the flavor. Reuben Eggrolls - BOMB! So juicy, perfectly fried. I tried it with and without the house mustard sauce. It's good on its own but the mustard sauce kicks it up a notch. I've seen so many versions of cheesesteak Eggrolls, crab egg rolls, etc it's done to death in my opinion. But a REUBEN EGGROLL ?? amazing, that's the innovative thinking I like to see. And if you don't like grilled Reuben's .... Grow up House salad: I added grilled shrimp and the house creamy ceaser dressing. The shrimp was grilled perfectly, great flavors, not too salty or over seasoned. Just right. The dressing was a solid Caesar dressing and same for the salad itself. A solid house salad. I love the new menu design, so much more elevated and well thought out. If you're not a beer drinker or don't know a lot about beers, the menu provides you with recommended beer pairings for each item. They also have a new chef. I loved the old chef, I had so many personal faves on the menu so I was a little bit hesitant. But I'm intrigued about some of the new items they've added to the menu. And although I've only tried a few things tonight, I'd say so far so good. I'll be back. Ambiance: Guilford Hall is honestly a hidden gem. The venue and architecture is gorgeous. You have the main restaurant downstairs and the event space upstairs. They host so many different events as well so I would recommend checking out their events page. Service: I'd they the service was the only gripe I had. And I don't mean the servers themselves, They're great and work very hard. My gripe is with the lack of adequate staffing for the event. They only had two servers taking orders for a very full event. So unfortunately it took a long time to get your order taken. You can order at the bar but the bartenders always insist that you order at the table, which again can take forever, so people go to the bar ...... lol it's a losing game. So I'd say get there at the very beginning before the venue fills up and get your food order in or don't go on an empty stomach like I did Now for the event itself. If you've never been to profs & pints I highly recommend. There's so many interesting topics to choose from. Speaker: Dr. Todd B. Kashdan Topic: The Science of Curiosity He was a very personable and engaging, and had great delivery with the perfect balance of insight and humor. He incorporated break out sessions to encourage the audience to interact with the people at their tables. It's open seating so great for connecting with strangers. I loved his perspective. He had great presence and took a relaxed/humble yet confident approach to public speaking. A key take away for me is to remember to turn your curiosity inward without judgement. Like what would you if no one was watching and you weren't thinking about what other people think. Your initial impressions of people are often wrong and you close the door too quickly. Assuming perspective instead of getting someone's perspective because you're seeing this as a representation of one monolithic idea as opposed to understanding who they actually are. This was in relation to a question someone asked about Race and who defines what is vs what things could actually be. And how when we have more of these conversations instead of avoiding them that leads to a more open world with less isms, bullying, prejudice, etc. All in all a great night. I highly recommend.
