I love Abbey Burger. As I've moved around Baltimore over the years, I've been a regular at each of their different locations. I finally wandered into the Mount Washington location and was not disappointed with the experience. The vibe is chill, the people are friendly, the sweet potato fries and tots are superb, the beer list is lengthy, and the burgers are highly customizable and generally excellent. This location also has a pinball machine. This is consistently one of the best burger experiences in town.

We got seated right away. This place is clean. I have to say that all the appetizers looked good. We ended with the crab dip which is WORTH EVERY PENNY. However, the burger itself was okay. Nothing special. Maybe next time I'll try the peanut butter burger which is an interesting concept..

After seeing this place listed as one of Baltimore's top-rated burger spots, I decided I had to check it out. I placed an online order for pickup and ordered the Baltimore burger (angus beef patty topped with cheese, bacon, and crab dip) and a side of fries. I requested that the burger be cooked medium, but it was cooked a little too long for my liking. Overall, however, the burger was tasty and filling. The fries were really well seasoned and delicious. Picking my order up was a seamless process. It was ready at the estimated time, and immediately upon entering the Abbey Burger and walking up to the bar for my order, I was greeted by the friendly bartender. I requested a soda since I was unable to order that online, and he gave it to me on the house which was much appreciated. The restaurant itself was really cute and had a few screens showing different sporting events, a pool table, and a jukebox machine. All the features of a great bar. I definitely hope to come back and try some of the other stuff on the menu.

I love the variety of burgers available! I was literally overwhelmed with the number of choices, and SO MANY sounded delicious. AND if there's not one you like, you can create your own burger with your favorite toppings, sauce, bun, etc. I will say the sweet potato fries were undercooked, so that was disappointing. The waffle fries were amazing!

Amazing burgers, pie, and service. We customized our own burgers, which were great quality and came out super quick! Harry's peanut butter pie was DELICIOUS and I devoured it! Absolutely recommend!

We had dinner at Abbey Burger while on a recent trip back east to visit family. The place was inviting, clean, and warm. The staff were uniformly friendly and professional. Especially Harry the maitre'd and George our server. My wife had a build-your-own turkey burger which she described as omigod the best turkey burger she has ever had in her life - flavorful, juicy, and in an amazing pretzel bun. I had the game meat slider trio - one each of duck, boar, and bison - which were also excellent. Each slider had a different set of toppings which perfectly complemented the different meats. See pic. We finished off with vanilla and chocolate shakes. These weren't the best we've ever had. Rather, they were really good shakes to end an excellent dinner. We aren't booze drinkers, so can't comment on that part of the establishment. Visiting family in Baltimore for the holidays is a stress-filled chaos-fest at the best of times. Our dinner at Abbey provided a peaceful and tasty break from the madness. We will be back!

Ordered takeout and it was just as amazing as eating in the restaurant. It was ready quickly and so good! I ordered the peanut butter burger and added the raspberry habanero and it was the craziest mix of flavors.

I stopped at abbey burger after a big event and the place got packed quick. The staff knew of the event and were prepared, but had about 40 people walk in at the same time. Things I loved: - beer selection -burgers -pool table (bring quarters) Things I wasn't fond of: Parking (wasn't exactly sure where to go) I will say I've already suggested this spot for my next work happy hour and can't wait to go back to see how my experience is as just a normal customer without 40 friends

    Alligator Bites

We went for Saturday dinner after a thunderstorm. Good flow of people and lively. We ordered the Alligator Bites for an appetizer. They were good but I probably wouldn't get them again. For our entrees, we ordered the peanut butter, lamb, and salmon burgers with fries. The peanut butter and lamb burgers were delicious. Not too crazy about the salmon, it was too salty. We had a couple of beers which were tasty. My favorite part was dessert, the peanut butter pie. It was excellent! It was light and mousse like, not too peanut buttery tasting, with chocolate crust and toppings. This place is on my way home from work, I could see myself stopping by to pick up a slice of pie. Overall, a little pricey but we don't go out to eat a lot so it's ok. I would go back on a summer weekend.

The Onion rings are unique. Anyone know the secret? We were there last night and I didn't order the onion rings, but my friend did. I got to try one. The batter is thick and spicy. It's more breaded and salty than I usually care for but I want more.

Sorry I don't know the secret??

During our conversation, I mentioned that my wife absolutely loved a specialty burger from his previous restaurant. That restaurant closed several years ago, and the burger isn't on Nepenthe's menu. Without hesitation, Chef Andrew told me that if I gave him some advance notice and brought her in, he would get the ingredients and make it especially for her. So that's exactly what I did for her birthday. When the burger arrived, my wife was genuinely surprised. Chef Andrew even added a candle to the plate to make the occasion extra special. The burger was everything she remembered. She often says she compares every burger she eats to that one, but had resigned herself to the idea that she'd never have it again. Bravo, Chef Andrew. What makes this story even more remarkable is that I had only met him once before. This wasn't something I asked him to do--he was the one who suggested it. That's the kind of hospitality is something I'll never forget. The food at Nepenthe is consistently good, and the atmosphere is fun, lively, and full of energy. It's a great spot for happy hours, trivia nights, and group gatherings. I'll never forget the kindness and hospitality we experienced. This is Baltimore hospitality at its finest.

We started with Potato Cakes with crème fraiche, they had a nice crunch, a tender interior with subtle flavor. I'd never had them with crème fraiche, it was a nice change and the mild tanginess with the creamy texture complimented the Cakes well. I ordered the Main Street with Weisswurst, a Pretzel and plain Spätzle. It was my first, the veal's flavor is understated in comparison to Bratwurst or Knackwurst (not on the menu) and was a pleasant changeup. The Pretzel was little disappointing while it was a decent pretzel, it lacked the crisp crust and distinctive flavor I expected. As evident by the rating while worthy of note, it's not a game changer. I'd ordered a large plain Spätzle, which was two regular portions, but was served Spätzle with cheese I tasted it and it wasn't my thing, which is not to say it was bad, I just don't care for cheese in dishes like that. Our server swapped one cheese for plain (my wife had happily stolen the other) and enjoyed the replacement. I found that the grilled onions gave it a nice homey flavor. Mistakes happen and it turned out to be a win in the end. We shared a couple of desserts and by far, my favorite was the Black Forest Cupcake. It's on the large side, they might be able to cut on the weighty crème icing, the chocolate cake and soaked cherries were a delight. The cherries are a significant improvement over the Marchinos I had before, if only there were more. Rathskeller can get a little loud, as it is a relatively small space with hard surfaces so voices reflect, it wasn't packed this afternoon, so it wasn't an issue. I actually found Union Hill while planning my friend's 40th birthday dinner from another state, and from the moment I reached out, everything just flowed. I inquired about hosting a dinner and one of the owners, Matt, got back to me within a day. From there, the planning felt effortless. He answered all my questions, stayed in communication, and really helped bring the whole vision together. We had close to 30 people for the dinner in one of their private dining areas, and when I say the staff was impeccable... they were ON IT. My friend had no idea where she was going, so this was a full surprise. Once we gave the staff the green light, they were ready and immediately started accommodating everyone. Everything just flowed from there. We did family-style appetizers, which I loved because everyone got to try a little bit of everything. Everything was flavorful and came out at the perfect pace. For my entrée, I had the salmon and it was so good. And listen... I hosted the whole thing, ate there that night, AND still had leftovers to take home. That's always a win. They were also super accommodating leading up to the event. I was able to drop off the cake and cake pops the evening before, and I was even able to decorate the private dining area, which made everything feel really personal. What could have easily been a stressful experience ended up feeling seamless. The restaurant atmosphere is beautiful. The private dining area worked perfectly for our group, and they even have an upstairs outdoor area as well as a downstairs outdoor space, which I didn't get to experience this time but definitely want to the next time I go back.
