I've had many visits to Abbey Burger Bistro in Mt. Washington and I hope things will change. This recent visit, though, was extremely disappointing. The bartender who served us was rude and dismissive from the moment we sat down, with an attitude that made the entire experience uncomfortable. We tried to be patient and polite, but the poor treatment continued throughout our visit. What made it worse was that when we brought the issue to management's attention, nothing was done about it. No apology, no acknowledgment, no effort to make things right. It's disappointing when a restaurant doesn't hold its staff accountable for basic customer service. Honestly, the food isn't anything special either, so between that and the way we were treated, I won't be rushing back. If management doesn't address how customers are treated, I can't recommend this location. read more

I love Abbey Burger. As I've moved around Baltimore over the years, I've been a regular at each of their different locations. I finally wandered into the Mount Washington location and was not disappointed with the experience. The vibe is chill, the people are friendly, the sweet potato fries and tots are superb, the beer list is lengthy, and the burgers are highly customizable and generally excellent. I went in to this location recently and was shocked at how poor the service was. There were a good amount of people in there and the food came out pretty quickly but multiple times our table had to flag down a server or remind them of an order. They even straight up forgot one persons order and she just never got food. When someone else at our table tried to order she was met with distain and told to wait. The only reason I didn't go lower was because the items we did get were done well. I got a Whiskey Jam burger and my twist on a gimlet. Both were done well so I will give them that but otherwise I could go elsewhere. read more

After seeing this place listed as one of Baltimore's top-rated burger spots, I decided I had to check it out. I placed an online order for pickup and ordered the Baltimore burger (angus beef patty topped with cheese, bacon, and crab dip) and a side of fries. I requested that the burger be cooked medium, but it was cooked a little too long for my liking. Overall, however, the burger was tasty and filling. The fries were really well seasoned and delicious. Picking my order up was a seamless process. It was ready at the estimated time, and immediately upon entering the Abbey Burger and walking up to the bar for my order, I was greeted by the friendly bartender. I requested a soda since I was unable to order that online, and he gave it to me on the house which was much appreciated. The restaurant itself was really cute and had a few screens showing different sporting events, a pool table, and a jukebox machine. All the features of a great bar. The service is consistently poor. The servers try but clearly have never been properly trained. And there is no management as far as I can tell. No one seems to. E paying attention. The burgers are great, but I don't understand why, in this era of food allergies, they brag about cooking everything in peanut oil. I went there with a friend who is allergic to peanuts, and she could not eat anything on the menu except a salad, and had to take Benadryl because the peanut oil in the air gave her almost immediate hives. This little gem of a restaurant/beer bar in Mt Washington was the best overall experience I've had in a while. The atmosphere was amazing and cozy. They have a pool table and arcade games !! We had dinner at Abbey Burger while on a recent trip back east to visit family. The place was inviting, clean, and warm. The staff were uniformly friendly and professional. Especially Harry the maitre'd and George our server. My wife had a build-your-own turkey burger which she described as omigod the best turkey burger she has ever had in her life - flavorful, juicy, and in an amazing pretzel bun. I had the game meat slider trio - one each of duck, boar, and bison - which were also excellent. Each slider had a different set of toppings which perfectly complemented the different meats. See pic. We finished off with vanilla and chocolate shakes. These weren't the best we've ever had. Rather, they were really good shakes to end an excellent dinner. We aren't booze drinkers, so can't comment on that part of the establishment. Visiting family in Baltimore for the holidays is a stress-filled chaos-fest at the best of times. The apps were solid - flied pickles we good and the nacho waffle fries were out of this world. They were covered in cheese sauce, avocado, beans, jalapeños, and some sort of flavored ground beef (chili??) that blew our minds. They have a solid burgers. We got burgers takeout from the Mt Washington location for an outdoor " picnic " date this summer. We started off with the Crab Tots which are your classic crispy tater tots with a load of Old Bay Crab Dip on them. It is quite messy but delicious. Really the only way to eat them is with a spoon. I think they were honestly a little better in-person rather than to go because the crispiness of the tater tots is lost a little with the to go containers. But still a classic. For Burger - my husband will almost always get the Simply AJ10- he loves the Kobe beef burger with pepper jack and jalapeños and bacon. 10/10 Ill try different things- this time I got the Southwest Bison Burger- love a burger with avocado, jalapeños and creme fraîche. Also I always get waffle fries- which are as good as it gets. For COVID they started to can beers/growlers to go- which were very tall and generous. One of them exploded a little in the bag- but still salvageable. One issue is the parking- it is quite narrow, and if going at peak dinner time sometimes no place to park. We went for Saturday dinner after a thunderstorm. Good flow of people and lively. We ordered the Alligator Bites for an appetizer. They were good but I probably wouldn't get them again. For our entrees, we ordered the peanut butter, lamb, and salmon burgers with fries. The peanut butter and lamb burgers were delicious. Not too crazy about the salmon, it was too salty. We had a couple of beers which were tasty. My favorite part was dessert, the peanut butter pie. It was excellent! It was light and mousse like, not too peanut buttery tasting, with chocolate crust and toppings. This place is on my way home from work, I could see myself stopping by to pick up a slice of pie. I was in the Mt Washington area and wanted something different for lunch. I noticed an Abbey Burger Bistro on Google Maps. I had been to an Abbey a few years ago in Ocean City. Parking was not too difficult for a Friday at noon. I sat at the bar and was served quickly. I had to get the Gator Bites again, and they did not disappoint. I decided to try the Lamb Burger, and despite the pita bread being seemingly stale (not what I expected), it tasted very good. The house chips were also delicious. All in all, I liked it, and will be back if I'm in the area again. My son will be jealous that I came here without him, but if you snooze you lose. lol read more

Again not your ordinary at all. I went for the Spicy Korean Duck Burger. It was cooked nice and moist. The kimchi and sesame Mayo was good I just wish there had been more because it was lacking in that area. Since it was take out I wasn't able to ask for more. I will know for the next time. All burgers come with a free side of house made chips. Let's take a minute to give these chips there necessary props. Crisp, tasty and clearly hit with Marylands fav, Old Bay Don't sleep on the chips!! I also got the alligator bites. This was a battered deep fried meatball. Where do I even begin. For a while now , my girlfriend has been talking this place up and has been wanting to take me there for a while . Last night we finally had the time and MONEY to go out and treat ourselves to some over priced burgers. We get seated upon entering , the place wasn't too busy for a Saturday . We didn't get appetizers because who has money for that so all we got were our burgers. So we waited and talked for a little bit and then realized it's been like close to 45 minutes now and we still haven't gotten our food and our server hasn't come to our table since putting our orders in . Mind you the restaurant was not packed or busy by any means. Server never came to our table once and I had to get up and to to the bar just to request a refill on our drinks. Now we're pushing an hour and STILL no food. I saw a mother get up from her table and go talk to one of the servers saying that she's been waiting close to TWO hours for her meal for her child . I then got up and joined the conversation and asked what was going on because we are over an hour now waiting for our meals at this point . I was told that our meal would be done in the next five minutes. 30 minutes later , I decided it was time to leave and settled for Taco Bell. Drove 30 minutes out to try this place and put money aside so we could enjoy ourselves and grab a burger . Service was terrible if you can even call it service and I can't speak for the food since we never got it . Was really looking forward to trying a bison burger . I wish I could have have a great review. As I came in for one of their specialty burgers from the menu. Unfortunately I never received what I ordered. We came in , family of four. I ordered the simply AJ10 , kids meal hotdog, Baltimore burger and Diablo burger. The simply AJ came out with ingredients not described on the menu. I made the waiter aware and the burger was taken to the back . The burger came out then with the incorrect cheese and no bacon . Again I notified the waiter the burger was incorrect. She told me the burger was correct. She went and got a menu in which I read to her the ingredients on the burger . She finally then took the burger back . After that whole ordeal and everyone being almost done I was offered the correct burger in which I declined. The waiter could care less that I had not eaten . I can't deal with the saltiness anymore. Imagine the saltiest thing you've ever eaten and then double it. It turns what I'm sure *would* have been a tasty burger into a salt lick in the shape of a patty. It's no longer tasty, and you feel gross afterwards. Everything else is great: the people, the place itself... but I've even asked for a low-salt burger and it came out exactly the same: almost inedible. In fact I think I had to throw half of it away, and I *hate* wasting food. Lord help you if you have a heart condition or are on a low-sodium diet. I want Abbey Burger to succeed and I would order once a week if they CHILLED on the salt. Guys: I know you can make a good burger. I know you can. I've been to the Federal Hill location several times -- I'm a soccer fan -- but went to the Mt. Washington location today for the first time. (We've gotten takeout a couple of times, but first time eating there in person.) Food was good, the build your own burger is the same process. Best burger I've had in the last two years, and the one before that was also from here. Nice to have the windows open. We didn't have a lot of time, I was there with my family for a quick bite before taking my daughter to her swim lesson, and the staff were very considerate. Not only were they kind enough to put my daughter's order in right away while we got ours figured out, but it was a bit after the lunch rush and not too crowded, and they actually changed some of the TVs to a Harry Potter movie for her. Service is 0 out of 5: Three out of four orders at our table came out incorrect. Friend had to wait and watch while we ate, since it was so cold out and we didn't want our burgers to get cold. Nothing was taken off the bill (which is fine, they got stuff right the second time), but got some half assed apology along the lines of "we're super busy today" Then the server proceeded to scold me for having my dog and a toy/bowl under our table (because he supposedly could have tripped) and KICKED the toy. Kind of felt like he was just taking out whatever frustration for messing up our orders on our dog toy. He was muttering under his breath and everything. It was kind of awkward after that.
