Chicken salad sandwich on wheat with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and chips on the side.

This place is very good. For one, there is a 24 hour liquor store connected to it. I like how it's more of a one stop shop for us. We order the food ahead of time and pick it up at the liquor store. We can get our liquor as well as pick up our food. The food is good. I love the chicken salad and one time got the blue cheese burger which was also very good. My fiancé loves the open face roast beef with fries and gravy all over. He gets it all the time. The price is okay. Reasonable for the amount of food we get. Always fresh when we come to pick it up and it only takes about 15-20 minutes to make. This is our go to place when we do not want to travel far for good food as it is only 10 minutes from where we are.

I order there all the time and love their burgers and cheesesteak subs. I can call in my order and pick it up shortly afterwards.

The servers make their own hours, they don't want to work until closing so they lock the doors early. Retire already!!!

As most people coming here, already know about it and also there isn't many other places to eat nearby. That and because they have night with deals ($10 meat burger night ...). Big menu ... so, as usual when there is a such a large variety on the menu (seafood, salad, burgers, BBQ etc...) nothing it going to really stand out and the safest choice is burgers and fried food (hard to mess up). I got a house salad, that was sort of meh, i.e. fine but no great shakes with too many raw onions & olives. The Beyond Burger was well done and they have relish, which is a plus (many places don't have that condiment). The regular burger was good (so I was told). My son had the chicken parm, and the pasta was chewy and underdone. They have trivia night, which looks like fun There is a 3% charge to all orders if you are paying by credit card The decor is fun and there are baseball cards in the front lobby and the men's bathroom. I hope there is security watching these cards as some of them looked expensive. It was cool to see Eddie Murray baseball cards.

My husband and I visited Jilly's Bar & Grill in Pikesville on February 27, 2026. This was our second visit. We ordered several items, including stuffed shrimp, a Greek salad, and wings. There was an issue with the stuffed shrimp. The only stuffed shrimp listed on the menu is tempura stuffed shrimp, yet we were served broiled stuffed shrimp. When I calmly brought this to our server's attention, she acknowledged it was a mistake and suggested placing a new order, even though the kitchen was already closed. I did not ask for the food to be remade and only intended to point out the inconsistency. Shortly after, a woman who had been seated nearby approached me and asked about my order. She later identified herself as Chrissy, the General Manager. During the conversation, she stated, "We always try to correct customers." I explained that I believed the issue was with the menu, not the customer. I felt the interaction was handled in a way that was dismissive and uncomfortable, especially as it took place in front of others. The food quality also did not meet my expectations. The $16 Greek salad appeared to have lettuce and olives that were not fresh to me, and the wings were dry. We left most of the food uneaten. Despite this experience, we paid our bill in full and tipped 22%, bringing our total to $160.51. I also want to share how the situation felt from my perspective. My husband and I were the only young Black couple seated among a group that appeared to include staff or management. The tone of the interaction left me feeling dismissed and disrespected. That is my personal experience. After our visit, I sent a detailed email on March 2, 2026, and a follow-up on March 9, 2026. I did not receive any response or acknowledgment. I believe most businesses deserve the opportunity to address concerns directly, which is why I reached out first. The lack of response ultimately led me to leave this review. I have not returned since and hope ownership reviews both the service experience and management approach at this location.

Our waiter who's name I can't recall was great, I wanted a mocktail and he suggested the Cranberry Cider Smash (which sounds like a cocktail I would have ordered) and it was perfect! We started our meal with the crab dip and as soon as it hit the table it was smelled and looked delicious and did not disappoint! I had to pace myself so I could eat my dinner! We had a variety of things, I had the Buffalo Mac which was so good and I had enough to bring home for dinner the next day. My friends had a build your own smashburger, the all american burger and a salad and all were pleased with their meals! For dessert I had the birthday brownie which was a brownie sundae and my friends got the bread pudding and we shared, both great choices! We loved the feel of the place, it felt like a place where the locals hang out, I know they have a great happy hour (we missed it) and we loved trying to figure out who the famous people in the paintings are. A friend is visiting from out of town this week and we plan to have dinner there while she's in town!

The outdoor patio was nice, dog friendly, and a great spot to sit on a warm day. Service was friendly and our waiter was nice, although things moved a little slowly. The best drink we had was the Mister Marshmallow ($15), made with bourbon, toasted marshmallow syrup, and Aztec chocolate bitters. It was slightly smoky and sweet. The Maryland crab dip ($16) was very cheesy and came with Old Bay pita chips. There was plenty of cheese and decent crab flavor, but it only came with one small chopped up celery stick and no blue cheese or ranch. Overall the crab dip was a pass for me. The fried catfish sandwich ($16) was good. The catfish was cornmeal crusted and crispy and came with coleslaw and pickles on a roll. It came with a choice of Old Bay chips or fries, and the fries were crispy and good. The shrimp patty sliders ($16) were interesting. They are more like ground shrimp cakes with lettuce, tomato, and their bang bang sauce. They were decent, but needed more spice. I asked for inferno wing sauce on the side, which helped a lot. The Maryland crab soup was a disappointment. It came out lukewarm and was very thin. The flavor was flat and honestly tasted more like something from a can. It could have used more acidity, more depth of flavor, and definitely more crab meat. Overall, State Fare is worth checking out for the happy hour deals, drinks, and patio.

Apparently the tavern is connected to but not owned by the same folks at the brewery. It's also seemingly one of the only spots in town that's open seven days a week. Finding parking was surprisingly difficult on a Sunday night, but I circled around until I found a spot. The place seemed pretty packed, with folks waiting for tables, but since I was just there for the beer, I was sent upstairs to the bar. A couple of really nice bartenders were on duty and helped me right away. I got an amber beer which went down smooth, and I opted to get a pizza too. Heads up: If you're vegan you can basically sub out any pizza for a vegan option, but be certain to ask about ingredients, as no one pointed out the white sauce isn't vegan until I asked. I like spice and smokiness, so I opted for the Holy Smoke -- Alabama White BBQ, Tavern Blend Cheese, Cheddar, Smoky BBQ Sauce, Pulled Chicken, Pickled Jalapeños, Corn, Hardwood Smoke -- according to the menu. The pizza came out super quickly and it smelled like a campfire... in a really good way. The pizza was tasty and the crust was also realllly good. I ate half of it and took the other half to go, which ended up being another meal. And I can confirm it tastes good cold too! I'd definitely come back here, particularly on a warm day when the patio is open (it was raining pretty hard when I was there, so sadly, no outdoor seating). The people are super friendly and the menu definitely has a lot of options. If you're in Ellicott City, put it on your list!

The crispy shrimp and corn patties were like a crispy takoyaki so actually pretty good and the Mac and caviar was like a cold macaroni salad also pretty good just not impressive for a nice dinner. Was really looking forward to trying their duck confit chilakiles, but they ran out unfortunately. A little surprising since it's many hours before they close. I was considering coming again to try the duck confit, but after trying everything else I'm not sure it's worth the drive here since I'm not from the baltimore area. Their grilled ahi tuna was done well and the sauce was really good. The garlic soy shrimp pancit had good textures and flavour as well. The nori butter tteokbokki was lacking in flavour a little. Missed a bit of acidity to balance out the cream. Desserts were also just okay. I'm usually a sweets person, but I was kind of disappointed. The carrot mochi cake was strange, the texture was good, but the flavours did not mesh well together and I was confused what I was eating. The latiya was dry. The shaved ice was pretty refreshing but not impressing. The Ube flan was good though!
