Our party of 4 was just turned away by the older, jet black haired server on staff. We traveled over 30 minutes to visit this restaurant as we were neighborhood locals just a few months ago. We entered at about 7:25 PM yet we were turned away even though closing is listed as midnight. Unfortunately the server/bartender seems not to care to take in business for the establishment after a certain time since it was clear she wanted no new patrons for the night well before closing time. We picked up dinner from here Saturday night. We ordered two Cheesesteak Subs with everything, French Fries and Old Bay Wings. The food was disappointing! The Sub meat was dry and burnt, hardly nothing on them, no cheese, peppers, or lettuce, just onions and tomatoes! French Fries were soggy and bland. The Wings didn't have much Old Bay on them and were fried too hard, we couldn't eat them all. Bottom line I will not be returning here. read more

As much as my parents patronize this establishment, I am exasperated to be giving this review . I only gave one star because it's required . I specifically ordered exactly what I wanted . When my order arrived the bag was warm to the touch . I repeatedly asked the girl at the front counter with a head rag on , if my order had been warmed as I specifically requested that it not be . After going to the back , with my order she comes back and tells me she has a dilemma , because I opened the bag , and because it had been opened she can now not resell the order . Well my first issue is why you would want to resell already cooked food in the first place . The Manager was called and I asked that they look at how I ordered my food originally . After being told by the Manager or Owner that he couldn't resell the food , so basically they didn't want to remake my order . Soooo , you lose out on the food you claim you aren't going to resell but now you don't want to make the money that you would get from my order . Where's the logic . This place is very good. For one, there is a 24 hour liquor store connected to it. I like how it's more of a one stop shop for us. We order the food ahead of time and pick it up at the liquor store. We can get our liquor as well as pick up our food. The food is good. I love the chicken salad and one time got the blue cheese burger which was also very good. My fiancé loves the open face roast beef with fries and gravy all over. He gets it all the time. The price is okay. Reasonable for the amount of food we get. Always fresh when we come to pick it up and it only takes about 15-20 minutes to make. This is our go to place when we do not want to travel far for good food as it is only 10 minutes from where we are. read more

I only gave it a 4 out of 5 because there was no sign to tell you where the entrance is to the bar but it's on the left of the building. Other than that the food was good, the service was good as well. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and the drinks were good as well. I've had the chicken basket, shrimp basket, cheese steak subs, french fries, Maryland crab soup, crab cakes, Monaghan's Club, Hot Italian Sandwich... It's all good. When you spend $60 on take out for your family for dinner, you expect to pick up what yo request and most importantly pay for. The Caesar salad should come with a disclaimer. No Romaine lettuce. I ordered a Caesar salad with jerk chicken along with 4 Cheesesteak Subs. The subs were nice and plentiful on the steak, however my meal consist of a container of wilted spring mix topped with terrible looking mushrooms slices of chicken and the wrong dressing. I called to speak with the manager to discuss my dissatisfaction. Instead if an apology or a promise of a discount on future orders, the manager repeatedly replied we haven't used Romaine since it was recalled. Surprisingly good food. It appears to be just a bar with some good TVs and no real ambience per se but the wood frames of the ceiling look nice. The main menu seems standard but they also have specials. We ordered the meat loaf and the heated cold cut sub. Wow, both were good. Meat loaf was dense, fresh hand made mashed potatoes, excellent green beans. Sub was fresh good bread and fixings. We split the fried cheesecake for dessert, very good. While the place seems to look underwhelming, it is better than typical bar food. read more

I grew up in this area and my mom would always run into Monaghan's. Be it to get ice, buy lottery tickets or pick up salads for their Carryout. It's a staple of the Woodlawn Village. The pub is in the back where there's a full bar & seating. The bar is a typical neighborhood bar. They have TVs, keno, food & alcohol. No bells & whistles, but still great and people still go for lunch or a non fancy schmancy dinner. Imagine the Cheers bar EXCEPT, no one knows your name & no one's glad you came. read more

Juicy spicy jerk chicken breast slices over a garden salad (no mushrooms 4 me) crisp fresh romaine lettuce red onions tomatoes & cucumbers. They give you a such generous portion of Shrimp that its worth driving from Columbia to order. So Disappointed! Had a taste for Maryland crab soup and was referred to this place. The crab soup tasted like beef stew and hardly had any crab meat in it at all. It was beef stew with a ton of old bay seasoning dumped in it. needless to say it was a complete waste and I wont be going there again. While I have patronizing this place for over 13 years, the food has been great. With my busy schedule, I never had the opportunity to frequent the carryout portion of this establishment. After a 16 day 14 hour a day schedule, a friend mentioned that I could get some wine or whatever I wanted to relax before I had to return to focus and jeopardize my life to help others on Saturday. I took his advice because he disclosed he was good friends with the owner and being the person I am, he knew that I would like the customer service there. WELL, as a person with a high patience level I was confused at the attitude that I received for nothing. While I am not one to write reviews, this was a bit much. Scenario: I entered the store and a guy was leaving the counter, there was also a lady still shopping in the back of the store. The cashier Drea said you have to go to the green line. I said ok, so I went back to the green line. Then she asked me what did I need. I started to tell her what I needed to purchase and she said to the lady that finally finished scoping through the store of what she wanted to come on up. The lady looked at her with confusion because she saw that I was already at the counter. I turned to the individual and asked her did she have a problem with m going next being as though I was already there and she was not. The individual said no, I just got here. Drea made it an issue by telling the lady and disregarding me at the counter to come up. I did not understand the animosity. The lady insisted that I was next, but Drea was very rude and demanded that the women went next. As colleagues, the lady and I looked at each other as to say why is she acting like this. Although Drea was unaware, it was sad that she made such an unneeded approach to the situation. We both mentioned to her that we simply wanted to relax after a hard fight with COVID-19. Drea stated she fights it all also, so I just need you to move so I can take care of her. I asked her not to vamp any prior situations against me because I was not the one that gave her that grief. Drea started just move out the way. Confusingly, I felt as if this added to the frustration of seeing people die every day while trying to save them. I was so disappointed in the service recommended by a friend that I asked the name of the place and she stated: "Look Outside". This was not the professionalism that I usually have encountered in the dining area, so I was shocked by this myself. I knew it was bad because the gentlemen working with her intervened and apologized. I left and then returned to get items that I forgot due to the distraction of her unprofessionalism. I was so overwhelmed that I did not want to patronize the store and am currently expressing my experience to others in the area. Being that the shutdowns are in our current predicament, disrespect will be tolerated for nothing. While I and my colleague were in line together, we both are not recommending this establishment for carryout liquor. It is so sad because we suggest you guys to many because of your hours of operations but now after my call to the recommended, things may change. I went there for a group lunch and it was fine - waitress excellent, food good, and atmosphere nice with a lot of TV's on the walls showing sports. Excellent beer on tap (Loose Cannon). However, 2 days later I went back with my son and had a bad experience. Got there at 9:52 pm and was told by the waitress that we had 8 minutes to order food because kitchen was not taking any more food orders after 10 pm (it was a Tuesday night and the pub was open until midnight, 2 more hours). Tried to order food from the bartender 4 minutes later at 9:56 pm. She wouldn't take the order because "the kitchen closed 5-10 minutes ago at 10 pm". I told her it wasn't 10 yet to no avail. My son wasn't old enough to drink alcohol instead of eating food so we left without my ordering anything. If 10 pm is supposed to be the cut off time, then they should abide by it instead of making it earlier and pretending the customer's watch is wrong. read more

I went here on a Sunday evening about 6-7pm, and it was fantastic. The waitress was prompt. The beverages came out quickly. The food came out quickly. The place wasn't crowded... probably 12 people there? The liquor store's entrance is in front, and the pub entrance is on the side. I had a "pit beef" with bbq sauce and horseradish, and fries. Had a huge order from our school as a thank you for their support of a community based project going on. Over 30 dishes were made for our faculty. They included everything from homemade soup and chili to sandwiches, salads and platters. They all smelled delicious as I drove back to school with the three boxes in the back of my car. I could smell the cheese steak sub immediately. Sorry I did not order it! Everyone was so nice at the pub. They had all our orders ready and helped us put them in the car. They were all labeled and it was easy for everyone to find their order during their lunch time. The sandwiches were piled high with corn beef, roast beef, turkey, etc. The Monaghan club looked amazing. Everyone commented on how delicious the food was. I had the turkey on whole wheat with honey mustard. It was good. I like the fact you have many choices of types of bread or rolls and they include chips and pickles with the sandwich. NOT PROFESSIONAL! There was a server that I really liked. She made it seem like it would be a smooth process to host an event. I have no issues with the wait staff!! It is the Catering Manager that was unprofessional! I understanding being busy but that is what assistants are for or you will just have to pull some extra hours. Returning a phone call is NOT HARD!! John (catering manager) was very difficult to get in touch with. He never returned my calls. He always said that he would get back to me and did not. I liked the facility because it was low key was able to accommodate a small group (20-40 people) for a good price. However, the stress of trying to lock in a date is not worth it. I am trying to throw my friend a surprise party so I gave him several dates that I could do it. I told him money was not a problem and he still did not get back to me. The lack of professionalism is concerning. I called so much that I am sure the staff recognized my number. Some of them even recognized my name. That is terrible. A month of calling this place and nothing was resolved. Thanks for nothing!! Never again. 2 stars because I liked staff. read more
