    Strawberry Lavender Kombucha
    Darren A.

Sergio was an AMAZING person to deal with. Great story teller. Very laid back and easy to talk to. It's always more enjoyable talking to someone when they have a genuine smile while talking. I have a tendency to trust them more. Sergio was that person. I don't know if he's in 'sales' there and just happened to be around when I came in... but he was the PERFECT person for me to talk with, being a kombucha 'novice'. He broke everything down for me and made some GREAT suggestions. Flavors Tried: 1) Strawberry Lavender- SCORE!!! 2) Ginger Sage - SCORE!!! 3) Watermelon Hops - SCORE!!! 4) Lemon Sage - SCORE!!! 5) ICARO Yerba Mate Hibiscus - SCORE!!! 6) ICARO Yerba Mate Mint - SCORE!!! Yummmo!!!

The owners Meaghan and Shane opened this in 2022 on York road and it's just a delightful experience. I don't make it out here very often but it's a great place to eat food they feels good and to support a local business. The prices aren't cheap but it's worth it for the quality. My favorite is the super chicken (I always order this) and for a drink the house paw paw soda it's made with the native fruit paw paw (do research on this it's amazing) that they make into a vinegary shrub with soda water. It's so yummy. The quality shines here as well as the light airy high ceiling interior and the plants. This is a must visit and honestly a little slept on. Lisa was my server on my most recent visit and she was so sweet. She told me her wife works here and she was filling in as a neighbor and a patron! We love that.

We discovered their kombucha at a farmers market in Washington, DC and liked it enough to make another trip from NYC to Baltimore, so we could try all the flavors. They are serving "real" kombucha - complete with all-natural effervescence - and every flavor truly impressed us. They range from superfood-forward classics like ginger and turmeric to fun seasonals like smoked pineapple to mind-blowing botanical mashups like hibiscus/mint/linden flower. They described them as "guzzleable," and let's just say we guzzled! They have an equally impressive lineup of house fermented veggies that are all unique. We loved the extra spicy kimchi and the green tomato ferment. Their food menu is a colorful and creative celebration of all their homemade and locally sourced fermented and other food items. There were plenty of vegan options. We loved the Hex Powerhouse sandwich (packed with veggies!!) and the mushroom kimchi sandwich, both served on their homemade focaccia. We really loved the food and drinks and the great service from Hunter who walked us through the menu, kept our glasses full, and even let us try some off-menu ferments. We can't wait to come back!

I had a true 5-star experience at Nepenthe. A few weeks ago,…read moreI visited Nepenthe for a happy hour at work and had the chance to meet Chef Andrew. During our conversation, I mentioned that my wife absolutely loved a specialty burger from his previous restaurant. That restaurant closed several years ago, and the burger isn't on Nepenthe's menu. Without hesitation, Chef Andrew told me that if I gave him some advance notice and brought her in, he would get the ingredients and make it especially for her. So that's exactly what I did for her birthday. When the burger arrived, my wife was genuinely surprised. Chef Andrew even added a candle to the plate to make the occasion extra special. The burger was everything she remembered. She often says she compares every burger she eats to that one, but had resigned herself to the idea that she'd never have it again. Bravo, Chef Andrew. What makes this story even more remarkable is that I had only met him once before. This wasn't something I asked him to do--he was the one who suggested it. That's the kind of hospitality is something I'll never forget. The food at Nepenthe is consistently good, and the atmosphere is fun, lively, and full of energy. It's a great spot for happy hours, trivia nights, and group gatherings. I'll never forget the kindness and hospitality we experienced. This is Baltimore hospitality at its finest.

Nepenthe Brewing is a great place for vegans and non drinkers. Seem weird for a brewing company?…read moreMaybe, but they make it work well and that is why I'm a fan. Nepenthe Brewing has a rotating menu of inspired vegan dishes. This isn't your typical burger and fry brewery. We've visited for date nights, during vegan week, with kids and without. Each time, Nepenthe has not disappointed. Some of the dishes my family and I have enjoyed here are the Killer Tofu (top notch), Crispy Mushroom Banh Mi, Berry Smashed Mocktail, Lemon-Blueberry Cake and, for the kids, the fries with vegan pub dipping sauce. As long as Nepenthe keeps putting forth unique vegan food and mocktails, my family and I will keep it a part of our rotation.

While in Baltimore, one of the side quests I went on was to figure out what its best brewery. And…read morewhen it comes to beer, service, ambiance, food, and things to do outside of drinking good beer, Peabody Heights is the brewery that checked off all of those boxes and then some! For ambiance, Peabody Heights is located in the old location of Oriole Park, and it plays to that history perfectly by having a mural dedicated to baseball players of the Orioles past. The main space is also HUGE, featuring tables of varying group size, two bar areas, an outdoor courtyard featuring their own food truck, a private party area, and even more that I'll feature in the fun section!. For beers, I was enjoying IPAs, pilsners, lagers, porters, stouts, and then some. I even had a sour beer that was a vibrant blue color! But them being partnered with Charm City directly across the street meant that I was also enjoying damn good meads, and they also had good cocktails and NA options. The food truck banged out Asian American fusion comfort food that you could order from either your phone or an indoor tablet with ease. And my shrimp scallion pancakes and Korean corn dog were absolute bangers! For fun, Peabody has not one but TWO awesome arcade spaces. The first one I entered was a huge and satisfying PINBALL ALERT, and I happily spent all the cash I was carrying playing the Quest and Pokemon pinball tables. But when I pulled back the last door I walked through around last call, I was also absolutely blown away by their HUGE arcade room that featured any kind of arcade game imaginable (shooting, fighting, car racing, MORE pinball, etc) and a second bar space. Toss in stellar service and a great selection of takeaway beers and mead, and Peabody Heights is well worth the visit!

What a fun brewery!…read more My brother had a birthday gathering here this year - we were able to comfortably seat a group of 15-20 people in the outdoor picnic section area. Highly recommend this spot for groups looking for a place to gather and socialize. The space is deceivingly large; there are multiple indoor spaces all within a quick stride from a long bar with dozens of beer taps. The outdoor space is even larger than what's available indoors; their vast street level patio/deck space is full of picnic tables and benches that are perfect for larger groups when the weather is nice. And yes, their outdoor patio is pet friendly. While the brewery itself doesn't serve food, there was a food truck (that looked to be there quite often) set up in the outdoor area that had several good options. I had their burger and fries which was exactly what I needed after an afternoon of brews. The beer itself was tasty; I had several of their hazy IPA's which I've grown to enjoy. They also offer a very solid selection of N/A beer options; some of the folks in our group enjoyed them and gave them great reviews. I didn't get a chance to check out the arcade portion of the brewery, but yes, this is a barcade as well. If you're looking for an inclusive, energetic brewery to check out, definitely keep Peabody on your list.
