Beer & tacos!
Jason B.

A colleague recommended this joint and for beer & tacos I was all in! Shrimp taco was perfectly cooked and slightly spicy. The barbacoa had a great beef flavor and the toppings were well paired. As for the beer I made my way around the menu and liked their offerings. Ambiance is industrial strip mall, service was prompt and friendly, and prices were in line with the area.

Snip Snap

Landed at BWI and found this place not far away. Scale: 1-5 Beer: 5 - I had the Hazy DIPA Snip Snap which was delicious. Super smooth and goes down dangerously fast! I then had The Dragon which was even better. I will return to have these again and try more. Atmosphere: 5 - Relaxed vibe. Nice outdoor seating. Service: 5 - Ordered at the bar and ordered was was recommended by the bartender. Food: Shares space with taco place. Looked good but didn't try. Cultural/Political Agenda (1-5): 5 -Everyone is welcome. No preachy nonsense or virtue signaling, just beer, as it should be.

Sapwood is bigger and better! They've expanded their seating areas and have a kitchen cranking out some great bar food. Still a great collection of beers to enjoy with something for everyone. The staff will help you through decisions or use the app for no hassle. Definitely worth the stop in!

Big portion of Nachos

Stopped by after a good day hiking where we needed to unwind and relax with the doggies. Outdoor patio available and few other barrel like tables/ high bar stools area on the side. One of us has a greyhound so we decided more room to sit on the barrel-like tables. We had nachos w/ chicken (enough for 3 ppl def) , corn croquettes and Brussels sprouts. We all thought everything was good, I def tore down the nachos..lol. Not a beer person but friends ordered a couple of rounds. Pretty big indoor dining area for those who prefers to be in the AC :) You can order from QR code or thru the waitress. Prompt and friendly customer service and often checking on us. We actually had 3 different ones checking on us , refill waters etc. Overall great experience.

The food was really the star here. Which isn't exactly what I'm looking for in a brewery. I'm never going to complain that the food was good. Which it mostly was! Those elote fritters were banging and the nachos were good! Weird to just have a pile of beans in the corner. The chicken tacos weren't great. The chicken was really really tough. The service was actually horrible. Waiting 15 minutes to get served after sitting down. And taking forever to get the check. The place was absolutely slammed though so it was probably just a fluke I'm hoping. The beers were also not our favorites. We tried 5 different kinds and none of them were beyond just okay.

This is a laid-back, welcoming spot that's perfect for hanging out. The spaces are clean and has a classic brewery vibe (not upscale but not bar-esq). They also offer an impressive selection of unique beers and brews, (I loved the Smuzi berries and choc covered) along with surprisingly good tacos. The service is outstanding- the staff are friendly, polite, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Overall, I really enjoyed visiting and would absolutely return especially for the drinks

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times -- I LOVE AN INDUSTRIAL PARK BREWERY! There is truly no irony in that statement. Nothing like taking a soulless collection of corporate buildings and plopping a brewery right in the middle. I loved my visit to Sapwood Cellars, as it's been on our radar as one of Maryland's best breweries for some time. We stopped in on a long drive home from a visit with family, where we brought our cat with us. Thankfully, due to Sapwood's outdoor space, we were able to bring his carrier to sit outside with us with we tried our tasty beverages. The super friendly bartender said "I think this might be our first cat on the patio!" Some people might find this in poor taste, but if people can bring unleashed dogs in a grocery store, I dont see why my cat (who literally came from the outdoors) can't chill in his carrier in an outdoor space. Cats have feelings too!! Speaking of tasty beverages - I mean, where do you start? I opted for a bottle pour of a gin-barrel aged sour - and I loved it so much, I bought a bottle to-go! I also tried their fall beer, a spiced dark lager - and thought it was delicious. It's a good sign to me when places can do two wildly different styles of beer very well. They had an endless list of options, and had we not a long drive ahead, I could have stayed here all day. Good to know: - Lots of parking - ADA accessible, as far as I can tell - Food trucks present or BYO food - Seemingly open only on the weekends - Fun merch! - Great staff - Lots of options on tap and to-go, including gluten-reduced beers

A great spot to stop for really thoughtful, well brewed beers. The atmosphere is very laid back, the staff is incredibly welcoming, and again, the beer is great. A phenomenal selection of really unique brews - and everything we tried was really good!

A smoothie beer referencing the Píña Colada drink!
Alden C.

Steve and I had two different beers from Sapwood Cellars. The first one we had was the New Hop Crop IPA. Specifically it was a New England style IPA. Flavors to be on the look out for when having this IPA are tropical elements, citrus, juicy, mango and dry-hops... which is always a favorite flavor element of ours. After that we got a type of beer we don't often get and that was more of a smoothie beer. It was more on the sour beer type side as well. It's name was Smúzí Piña Colada and it indeed taste just like the cocktail with flavors of pineapple, coconut and lime. It was creamy and thick which isn't often a preference we pursue but in this case this smoothie beer proved to be quite good. So I am glad at least that I tried a beer type we don't delve into often.

The night unfolded slowly, like carbonation rising through an unhurried pour. At Sapwood Cellars, every detail--warm wood, clinking glass, the soft scrawl of chalk names--seemed part of a living organism, a small civilization built on barley and benevolence. Noel, your bar mate, became the axis of this temporary world. When the manager (Spencer) called for the birthday song, the entire bar inhaled as one and then exhaled melody. It wasn't pitch-perfect, but it was profoundly human: a brief rebellion against the cosmic void. You bought rounds, a quiet act of celebration that rippled outward--each pour an offering, each sip an acknowledgment that we are, for now, among the living. The quesadilla and chips stood as humble companions to grandeur, sustaining the flesh while the spirit floated somewhere above the foam. Around you, people smiled without irony, and for once no one looked at their phone. By the time the check arrived, its printed digits felt like an afterthought, proof only that time had passed and joy had briefly been quantified. You left with the taste of hops on your tongue and laughter still in the air--a reminder that even under the cold laws of entropy, community can ferment something close to grace.

Bottle basket of Honeymoon Season
Chantal C.

Casual Charm -- fair pricing, laid back atmosphere, & friendly service. . Honeymoon Season - lovely, light, & airy with a smidge of tart. It's delivered and poured from a cute wicker basket. Only snacks available but a taco truck is parked in their lot and the brewery lets you bring in food. Wish I didn't eat before so I could try some but settled for a whole container of hummus and large pita chip bag for $10 -- it was a deal. A charming brew house to unwind over their sizeable list and variety of beers and ciders. Initially it was fairly quiet with a few parties here and there, however I learned volume levels can really resonate loudly bc of the interior wall n flooring -echoes. At one point a group of families arrived with young kids...and it got very, very loud. . cheers

Beer wise they have an option for everyone. I tried several as short pours. The standouts included: 1. The World Moved on Draft. Hazy DIPA at 8.1% ABV. More a piney IPA with less juice. 2. Grapefruit Juicius Draft. 7% ABV IPA that's almost the opposite of the World Moved on. Grapefruit juice and zest mellowed with vanilla beans. Creamy but no lactose in this. 3. 3 Bean Soup. This is an imperial stout with toasted hazelnuts, cacao nibs, vanilla beans, and coffee. Tastes like a mocha hazelnut latte. More of a dessert beer given the taste, thickness and ABV. You'll want a short pour. Food is limited although the often have food trucks. Service was excellent. Good craft brew tasting room vibe.

Sapwood Cellars is a treasure. I love their craft beer. It has a laid-back, cozy atmosphere and amazing staff (shout-out to Maria!). The variety on tap is impressive including hazy IPAs, lagers, ales, and barrel-aged stouts. They are also opening a taco food spot. Got to try their samples and I was impressed. Great for an afterwork hang and an lazy afternoon with friends!

Ask the Community - Sapwood Cellars Brewery

Do you have any outdoor seating?

Yes! We have a patio that is open with outdoor service whenever the tasting room is open (and the weather is nice). Umbrellas and fans in the summer, heaters in the winter!

Can we bring wine if others in the group are purchasing beer?

We offer a small selection of Maryland wines along with our ciders, beers, and seltzers!

Do they only fill their own growlers, or can I bring my own in for a fill up?

You can bring your own!

Do they have TVs? Can we bring food, or do they sell food?

You can most definitely bring in food, or have anything delivered. They have food trucks scheduled for every day they're open but you are not limited to that.

I decided upon their Escape Pina Colada Sour after Juan gave me a sample when he noticed my hesitancy and I agreed I could down a glass since it didn't taste like an actual beer after sipping lol I asked for a menu after some time had passed and after I tried scanning the QR code on the bar multiple times (don't do that. It's for the actual woodworker/carpenter lol) I saw their Tuesday special online but it wasn't mentioned on the menu so I asked and was informed it was only for the restaurant side (Frisco). I was confused because when I walked in on the Frisco side I asked the bartender about the brewery side since I knew I'd have to sample something before committing and was informed to go through the restroom door to reach it on the other side. I made sure to ask if I could also order food from over there as well and was informed I could. No worries though, Juan took care of me and was able to place the order for me. I was about to be bad and order fries but he recommended their parmesan risotto instead and I thought, of course! Then, I remembered they offered seasonal veggies and asked about it and to my happy surprise was informed they had bok choy or brussels sprouts! Either would be yummy so I quickly agreed. This is definitely a local's spot. Many people came in and were known my first names so I felt comforted by that. They're was also a manager on the phone figuring out a mishap with their POS system as well which made me feel like they were on their stuff. Highly appreciated plus he quickly picked up my keys when I dropped them also so I didn't have to get down from my seat. Speaking to a girlies heart The light was low so my pics show that and when I attempted to correct it, it just wasn't it lol. I enjoyed the bok choy and couldn't make out the flavors but they didn't take away from the slight pepperiness of it and the stalk still had it's crunch. But my crab cake was tasty. I don't know if i can get on board with the inside but being crazy hot. The one I had the day prior wasn't hot inside either and I don't want it deep fried . . . . . Hmmmmm, small I start a crab cake tour I've been awaiting this journey . . . . I shall! So this is officially stop No. 2 Crab cake was seasoned well. Not too much seasoning and not bland. The outside was covered with jumbo lump clusters and the color on the broil was perfect. Fresh parsley throughout and cocktail sauce was given but I wasn't going to take away from their version. Was it MD crab? I'm not sure but I feel like if it was, it would have been advertised as such. Still good and I'd order again. I can see myself coming back after work to take advantage of their HH many times in the future.
