Looking north at the distillery and their Fri-Sat concert tent. Plenty of seating!

A talented creative distillery in Sykesville, with weekend outdoor live music! We came to an Aug 2025 Saturday outdoor concert at the south end of Main Street in Sykesville, and discovered that the band was set up under a canopy right here at Patapsco Distilling, jointly hosted with the wine shop and the deli next door! They share seating, and some tables that fill up pretty quickly. And the town allows them all to serve food and beverages together. We walked into the distillery to sample their creations, and were greeted by a bold aroma like a bbq ... They will smoke your cocktails if you like! We tasted several of their craft spirits: a wonderful rye, an ok bourbon, and a striking liqueur. They have several crafted non-alcoholic offerings as well. We decided on a lightly-smoked $9 Old Fashion, choosing their smooth bold Rockfish Rye, a lovely taste that stands well next to the Sagamore Rye we had earlier in the afternoon! In addition to the classic whiskey-cherry, orange peel, and bitters, we added their $2 seasonally-available nocino black-walnut liqueur for a delightful rich nuttiness. This whole cocktail was a wonderful discovery, and worth the drive! We also had a $9 whiskey lemonade seltzer made with their bourbon, where the sweet and tart citrus really brought out the character of the bourbon while staying light and refreshing. Because we had the beverages as carry-outs to enjoy at the performance just out front, they were served in plastic cups, no doubt at the behest of Sykesville. That just enhanced their elegant additions to our little picnic concert. These events continue on Friday and Saturday evenings through Nov 8th. Plenty of parking! And ice cream across Main Street! A perfectly enjoyable evening.

My boyfriend's family and I were staying at an Airbnb in town and decided to check out this small distillery for a tasting. We had dinner in town the night before and one of the drinks (Bee's Knees) had the gin from this place, so we decided to come in for a tasting. We got to try their vodka, gin, and bourbon. They did have a cocktail menu to try with some bar snacks. They also have a few bottles to sell. The bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly. She knew her alcohol and I was thoroughly impressed. My boyfriend love their Bigfoot Bourbon, but the bottle was a little too expensive for us at over $70, so we ended up getting the bottle of gin that was about half the price. The ambience was pretty intimate. There are a few couches in there and bar setting. We talked with a few locals and made friendly conversation. It was very welcoming and I highly recommended you check out this cute small town in Skyesville, MD!

Cute little distillery located in historic Sykesville. Visiting family and decided to check this place out for cocktails. Inside there's a small bar and some assorted couches. Sitting on one of the couches I was able to both enjoy my drink and play old school games like Connect Four-yay! The bartenders are friendly and efficient with serving drinks. They have quite an expansive cocktail selection. I tried the Gin Daisy. I thought it had too much grenadine which masked the herbal flavor of the gin and the floral notes of elderflower. That being said I would come back again and try another drink.

Great little distillery in the cutest town! Bartenders are the most friendly and very knowledgeable about all the liquors offered on their tasting flights. Drinks are great and they have happy hour which is always a plus!

Delicious! This is the coolest stop. In house made vodka, bourbon, lemoncello, gin and more. The liquor samples are great and very helpful when ordering a drink. The cocktail menu is creative and offers a lot! The stop is super cute and relaxing. Perfect for a relaxing cocktail!

Eclectic menu and to-go option!

I had an enjoyable time visiting for my first time in Sykesville. The staff member greeting everyone was warm and helpful when sampling the menu. The menu was still extensive and the to-go option was a wonderful feature.

Drinks: suffering bastard (in back) Earl grey martini

We loved our stop here, tasting a few then having a cocktail. The Earl grey martini (with gin) was the best cocktail Ive ever had so I bought all the ingredients.

A beautiful day for mimosas, vodka and gin despite some flurries in the air

They have a great distillery here in Sykesville and the distiller is a friendly and willing to talk about his spirits and distilling process. Their vodka didn't quite wow me but their gin is very tasty; doesn't have the over powering pine taste of many gins from the bigger spirit companies. They keep the true spirit of Maryland alcohol alive in respecting others doing the same in the area.

The vodka is made from scratch, and you can tell. It has a fresh, sweet finish from Maryland corn. The owners are super friendly and eager to share their distilling knowledge. Samples are free, and bottles are $38.

Opening day!

The inside is simple, with the occasional nod to ships at sea, which is easy to do if you have lots of barrels for aging spirits. There is a little bar where they make great cocktails rather quickly. They have spirit-forward as well as citrusy. Never had one I didn't like. The spirits (as of this writing, still available at some local liquor shops) are fantastic. My absolute favorite is the Lady Anne white rum. Some white rums are barely better than rbbing alcohol, but this has character and depth and makes a fantastic mojito. RIP Lost Ark!

We were greeted upon entering and Erik was very friendly. We sat at the bar. He was filling lots of orders (people come to the bar and order, then sit in the rum lounge area) and was still very attentive and welcoming. They do tours and sampling. Check their socials for more information. They also have an extensive list of entertainment.

Parking could be an issue and you will have to pay. Keep that in mind for time management. Overall, a super fun thing to do. Highly recommend.

I always make sure to stop by whenever I'm in Frederick. The ambiance is like a dim light basement, a clean and moody aesthetic with bar seating and couch seating. I've been to Ellicott Distilling twice. Once as a solo date night for myself and recently as a small group with my family. And both times I had an absolute blast. If making your own liquor doesn't draw you in then the taco bar, welcome drink, endless samples of liquor, and an all-around great time will do it. Arkadi, the owner is an amazing host and keeps the class lively. You kick off the class putting some food from the taco bar on your stomach, which you will definitely need, and make your first cocktail of the day. From there you get going with the distilling process, which is a pretty neat process to learn about. You don't realize how much science goes into making the spirits we all love to consume. And I love the little old timey distilling machines each person uses to make their liquor of choice. Once the liquor starts dripping you head downstairs for a little tour and barrel sampling. And then back upstairs to finish off your custom flavored bottled and some trivia. The trivia is a win, win because even with wrong answers you still win with samples of various flavored liquors. My family and I were the only ones attending for the day, so it was a very intimate class that we all thoroughly enjoyed. This class is a must try for anyone that loves a good bottle of bourbon/gin/vodka, and you can even say that you made it yourself.
