Visited here yesterday with friends on a recommendation. The place is secluded behind someone's house. Very nice little private area with ample outdoor seating and a pretty view. Limited bathroom and spot a pot. Inside is small with some seating and they do flights, which you order inside and they bring it to you, rather than standing at the counter. The people who work there were super nice and friendly. They have plenty of options. I ordered the Rosé, Merlot, Cab Franc, and Syrah. I didn't really like any of it, but the Syrah was the best of the four. I thought the Merlot and Cab Franc had an unfortunate smell, but still finished the entire flight. read more

We found this hidden gem while on our way to Westminster. We saw the sign (and it opened up our eyes) and we decided on a whim to stop by. it was delightful. The outdoors setting is really quite peaceful, and inside is cozy. We started with a flight and then moved to a bottle. They have a wonderful assortment of wines, dry to sweet, and even sangria. The owner was very knowledgeable and helpful. We'll definitely be back! read more

May 31, 2025 The girls and I celebrated several May birthdays yesterday and we couldn't have had more fun even on a cloudy day with light on and off rain. The staff went out of their way for us and we begged them to join in our celebatory food feast. Great choice of wines ( love the f Frozen Sangria and Peach Bellinis) Wonderful, friendly staff and the atmosphere inside and out is charming! They have a nice assortment of cheeses, chocolates and more not to me tiin a wonderful display of wine gifts snd locally made art! Located in Westminster Md we find its worth the drive we make from the Annapolis area! This is a must try place for your next winery trip. read more

Serpent Ridge Vineyard is a small-scale boutique winery that opened back in 2009. I have visited a few times and with each visit; I realize that (1) this place knows how to throw an event, and (2) pair wine with DESSERT. They nail the dessert realm of wine, and their pairings are phenomenal (if you want to pair a wine with your own dessert, go for the Chambourcin, Serpent Kiss or even the Slither (careful! It is a port-style!). If you are into winery events, I highly recommend checking out their website since they have a full calendar of ideas! If you want to pop-in for a tasty taste, they do not require reservations and you can also bring "outside" food on premise. Tips: Last call for wine pouring is 30 minutes before closing time. Leashed dogs are welcome outside. There is limited parking so if you are bringing a group, please call ahead. read more

I love the wineries in this area so when I discover a new one they already have an advantage. The staff were amazing when I arrived and talked me through the wines and of course I started with a flight. i loved everything I tried and they were just the right amount of dry for me. Then i moved on to the frozen peach Bellini and all I can say is if you are near by GET ONE! I walked away with a lovely bottle of an off dry rose and a reason to head back soon. read more

I totally loved this vineyard! The ride out to this property was so peaceful and beautiful! I will say as you approach the driveway to enter the property, there's two, and Waze and Google Maps will send you down Cabernet Road. Don't take that turn, turn into the property using the first driveway that has the signs because, that's the correct way to enter. It was small and quaint! Lauren and Amy were super nice and friendly! Especially, Lauren very helpful with suggestions and providing information about the sweetness of the wine. My favorite was the Serpent's Melody and the frozen Bellini. We sat out on the patio and then table and under the umbrella! This is a small Maryland winery and it's worth a stop if you're in the area. My wife and I did two different samplers and they were okay but over priced for the small amount of wine you get. I love wine and like to try other varietals I'm not used to but nothing at Serpent Ridge was worth buying a full bottle in my opinion. Tastes vary so you may like what they have. You can get some cheese and crackers to enjoy with your wine while seated outside next to the vines. read more

Cute little vineyard and tasting room. One of the owners was serving up tastings and he told us all about the wine, the vineyard and how he became one of the owners! It's six tastings and a take home glass for $8, which was a great deal. Bottles were about $24, wine was sold by the glass and they did have a chocolate and wine parings, as well as cheese and crackers for sale. Bottom line-I'd come back for a bottle of wine and to sit out on their porch to look out over the vineyard. read more

Their tasting room area is located in a small cottage type building which is adorably decorated inside. It's definitely set up to be a more intimate setting and you will be able to relax while sipping wine, avoiding any crowds, and chatting with the owners. Their customer service is exceptional and it's very apparent that they love wine and what they do. They have a few tables both inside and outside and about 5-6 each of red and whIte wines to select from. Keep an eye out for their events too! This establishment has dry and semi sweets wines and although I prefer sweet wines I really appreciated how much Hal cared about talking about his wines. The decor was great and I really liked how it was set up. Did I care for the wines as a sweet wine drinker, no. This place was an unexpected gem. Tucked away up a hill in a neighborhood. Has an air conditioned tasting room, outdoor patio with tables and umbrellas and a covered garden area. Overlooks a vineyard and barn. Very peaceful. Can bring your own nibbles or order there. Wines by the glass or bottle and flights were available as well as a specialty drink. We had the frozen peach Bellinis which were so good. Definitely worth a pop in if in the area. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and vineyard. When I'm here, I feel like I'm sitting in my backyard sipping on a glass of wine by the fire. The wines here are beautifully balanced and each of them have their own unique flavors. My favorites have to be the Serpents Kiss and Slither. Both are on the sweeter side, but are delicious! Also, go try the Mulled Wine before winter is up! It is probably some of the best mulled wine I've ever had; y'all need to put this in some mason jars for us to take home! Karen is constantly walking around and saying hey, and other members of the staff are checking in. Their tasting room is too cute for its own good, and I can't wait to get to enjoy a glass in there once covid is over. Every outdoor seating spot has its own patio heater or fire place, and they offer blankets at the front. They also have tastings available if you want to try a bunch of different ones. A great and often overlooked winery Serpent Ridge is considerable small then some of the larger Maryland wineries like Black Ankle and Elk Run its close enough to make visit them all on the same trip. Their wines are a cut above most other Maryland wines and with a lot less sweetness then you see in some nearby wines. My personal favorite was the Basilisk a Cab Franc, Cab Sauvignon blend. There staff was knowledgeable and really very friendly. I will definitely be back there soon. If your hitting up a Maryland wine trail this should definitely be on your List. read more

Accidently found this place and am very happy that we did. It is fairly well hidden and off the road, but it is worth coming too. The nice lady behind the counter was very knowledgeable of the wines she was pouring. She was also very knowledgeable about the grapes and process involved and still managed not to be boring. The wines themselves were very nice; leaning more towards the dry end. The pricing was very nice and you get a glass to keep with your tasting. They have a nice schedule of events so there is more then just drinking wine going on. read more

This is an ideal place to visit if you are cautious about COVID-19. Spaced out seating, waitresses wear masks, contactless payment, woman comes round after you leave to wipe down surfaces outside. I don't know much about wine so feel I can't speak about that but I personally LOVED the wine. read more

Pleasant surprise for a Maryland winery to have dry wines, but they do! When it comes to wineries, I tend to review the staff and scenery more than the wines, as wine tastes are truly subjective. I will note that I did enjoy several of their wines. The scenery is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. Additionally, they are dog friendly which is an added plus. Wine, cheese, laughs...they have it all! The owner's daughter was helping out behind the tasting bar yesterday -- and she was a RIOT! She was honest, knowledgeable, and really funny! We had a blast just enjoying the wine, the weather, the company, and just taking a well-deserved timeout. We were offered ideas for restaurants and ended up buying a delicious tomato basil cheddar from a nearby farm. Very, very nice Vineyard tucked away in Carroll County, MD. The tasting room is adorable, and there are also places to enjoy your wine outside. Serpent Ridge opened about three years ago, and the wines are great. I tasted two - Basilisk and Vintner's Cabernet. I really liked them both, but the Cabernet blew me away. Also, the Cabernet was made exclusively with grapes grown in their vineyard. Everyone there was really friendly and they made us feel like we in their home. There are plenty of special events offered here as well - wine glass painting classes, ladies shopping evenings, (for the men - cigar night) and in the summer, concerts. Did a quick Yelp search for a vineyard while out with the ladies and stumbled upon this lovely place. Its off the beaten path but the grounds are perfectly manicured along with a cute tasting area. Our tasting guide was very knowledgeable, she explained to us the process and blends as well as the tasting notes. My friends and I went to five wineries in Mount Airy and Westminster on Saturday. I have to say that this was my favorite. The staff was friendly and they had a great assortment of wine. Serpent's Kiss seemed to be the favorite of the day. We also enjoyed several of their other wines. After the tasting, we each bought a glass of wine (Cabernet Rose for me!) and had our picnic on a table outside. Even Zork the cat made an appearance. This is a warm and inviting winery. Serpent Ridge is a very small vineyard that is definitely worth a stop. It has that "Grandma's farm" kind of feel. Our pourer was friendly and knowledgable and was gracious enough to give recommendations of other places in the area and told us about a brand new winery nearby that we otherwise would have never known about. We were able to sample 4 wines (they were sold out of one on the list) and they were all good or at least interesting. My favorite was the seyval blanc and my husband liked the albarino, although I thought it was a bit strange. They offer a selection of local cheeses that were delicious. They also had a selection of sausage that was ok but it wasn't local. This vineyard might not be the biggest or most extravagant in the area but it is most certainly a cute place to enjoy a glass of wine and it's always nice to see where the wine I'm drinking comes from. read more

It's a hidden gem in Westminster. It's easy to drive right past it, but it is a wonderful winery. I really enjoyed the wine tasting and the descriptions they gave for each tasting including mixing one with chocolate. Many of the wines were very good. They also encourage people to help with picking the grapes in the late summer / fall. It sounds like a fun thing to do, and they promise to feed volunteers with a big cookout. Festive. read more

Lovely vineyard and thoughtful wines. We came here for a Friday evening outdoor small concert performance by a guitar and singer duo. We were a little late but the staff seemed more than happy to have us and help us to a primo parking spot and later a spot on the grass to watch the music. We grabbed a few different wine selections from the per glass menu and also some side snacks then took our seat on a blanket out in the yard. Honestly, we could have brought our dog as it was a perfect space where dogs aren't in the way and are probably welcome. The wine was thoughtful and more complex then I was expecting. It paired well with the strawberry salad we brought with us. So, feel free to bring your own food, your dog, a blanket, but come and get some good summer wines and musical fix on! read more

I have now been here twice, first visit was back in April. My SO had been there before and showed me. We definitely enjoyed both visits and will probably return again sometime. The remoteness of the facility, and being so far from main roads, contributes to its calm and peaceful ambience as you enjoy your wine. Serpent Ridge is a sweet little vineyard in Westminster, my favorite winery in Maryland. The tasting room is so cozy. You feel like you are in someone's home, and you are treated that way as well. When I visited, they had cornhole boards outside and a fire pit going. The wines are pretty decent for Maryland wines. They have a selection of wines that are pretty agreeable to the local masses, so you won't find big reds here. There's nothing wrong with that, because the home style, local flair is what you go for at a place like Serpent Ridge. Wine glass prices are reasonable, and tasting prices are as well. They also let you take your glass home after the tasting, which is a nice memento. read more
