Love stopping by here for a glass (or bottle) of wine no matter the season! They very often have events with food truck. Most recently I came here for a holiday market in December with vendors selling local goods, live music, fire pits and a dop pizza brick oven food truck vendor. The wine is delicious and reasonably priced. They have a small amount of seating indoors and plenty of outdoor seating. What's better than cozying up near a fire pit with a glass of wine on a winter day! Especially with the Mountain views you get at Catoctin breeze!

I have to be honest, I'm not much of a wine lover. Tito's club soda and lime please and thank you. That being said, Catoctin Vineyard is beautiful! Cute tasting room. Small but mighty. I do wish there was more room, it became quite crowded. Also, maybe some bottle openers, varieties of glasses for sale. The seating area, surrounded by the vines, gorgeous! Plenty of seating, enough distance between tables. Love that they are pet friendly. It was so fun watching the different breeds of dogs. On to the wine, I tried 2 and those 2 were very tasty. I ended up bringing one of each bottle home. Pet-Nat a Sparkling and Bolero a Red. I really, really like the Sparkling. I may not be a wine drinker but I'm definitely a Champagne fan! Lived in France for a few years when I was younger. The Pet-Nat reminded me a little bit of Champagne. $184 for 4 bottles of wine & 3 glasses. Who knew wine was pricey! Not me. But I didn't pay so I'd say, very much worth it...HA! Overall a great visit and I'd definitely return.

The first thing I saw that I liked was the adults only 21 and over sign. I prefer to enjoy my wine without children running around. The tasting room was small but nice with stone fireplace and high ceilings. The tasting was 6 dry wines for $20. The person pouring was knowledgeable and friendly. Most of their grapes are estate grown but they do outsource from other Frederick County Vineyards. The wines were all very good and it was impressive to see that aside from two dessert wines, all they offered were dry wines. The three of us in our party each got a glass of our favorite wine and went outside to sit under the shaded pergola and enjoy the view of the surrounding orchard, cornfield and vineyard. My only complaint is that the tables under the pergola were on grass and not a patio and the grass had not been mowed and was very high and wet with dew. Other than that it was a very pleasant afternoon at a very good winery!

It was a beautiful day to enjoy a glass of wine and listen to live music outside! We often visit this winery on our travels to Gettysburg. They offer tastings, I opted a small pour of the symphony (2021, white) and the Rose. Loved the rose, good and dry, and beautiful color! Took home 2 bottles of symphony and rose. We packed our cooler with cheese, crackers, and hummus which we enjoyed under an umbrella on picnic table. We were immediately greeted by a friendly gentleman who offered help on where to go, and how to order. Much appreciated, I remember my first time at an unfamiliar winery so it's always nice to be greeted! There is always a food truck on premises as well if you don't want to pack! Love this place and will always come back!

Catoctin Breeze is located among some of the most beautiful scenery in the area! The outdoor seating area is fantastic for a nice day with nature, although I wish they had more seating that was shielded from the sun. They have live music frequently, which is a big draw to many but I always find live music to be too loud. We sat as far away as possible so that we could still speak to each other at the same table without screaming. The wine tastings inside were great to decide what I wanted to bring outside and drink. I am certainly not a wine connoisseur, but I thought the wines I tasted were pretty good and everyone found an option they liked. Also LOVED that they are dog friendly, I definitely hope to come back here again and bring the pups!

Wonderful little vineyard that was conveniently located right off a main road. Extra points for being open on weekdays! CB has 5 acres of vines, although I think some of those are located elsewhere in the state. They also had a nice assortment to try from, enough that you could do either a dry or sweet flight (I did both). They even had mead, which I think was a new addition. What I tried: 15 Symphony: Oak barrel Chardonnay. Toffee and vanilla notes. 15 Merlot: Cherry-ish notes, very light. 16 Cab Sauv: Nice! Well balanced too. Rhapsody: Also very nice; apple notes. 17 Prelude: Made with Vidal; on the sweet side. 16 Bolero: Syran and Merlot blend; no notes, sadly. "Honeymoon" mead: Liked it a lot! Amber mead: Very Christmas-y. Lots of cloves and I think cinnamon. Not tried is their Syrah, which I was told was excellent.

A beautiful winery with a beautiful view. Stopped in after a hike around Cunningham Falls. I'd go back again.

What a beautiful winery in a beautiful location! The setting is absolutely beautiful! They had food service outside along with music. Inside you could purchase wine by the bottle. We went with their Vidal Blanc. Is was sweet with hints of honeysuckle. Very tasty! I absolutely love their bottle art!! The inside is beautiful. All done in wood. Looking forward to coming back here again!

Small more upscale winery with good service from folks who really know the winery and their products. Wines were just ok for me.

If you're looking for a big, fancy winery with a bustling tasting room, this isn't for you. But if…read moreyou want a very friendly place where the owner (Ed) will greet you at the parking lot and take you on a terrific golf cart tour - up close and personal with the grapes used to make the wine you'll soon be sipping - Six Wicket (tastings by appointment only) is superb. After the golf cart tour, which features wonderful mountain views (SW is high up, not far from Camp David but reasonably close to route 70), Ed will stop at his beloved croquet court and invite you to partake. Do: it's a blast. Then you can choose an indoor or outdoor tasting location (bring your own nibbles; there's no food served here) and check out some excellent wines including a delicious Cab Franc in Slovenian Oak and a fine Petit Verdot, among others. Coming soon: a Gruner Veltliner!

Of note, you MUST pre-book your tasting and tour - they operate on an appointment-only basis and it's BYOF (bring your own food). This is not only their vineyard, but also their home - which means you are welcomed in like a guest by Ed and Kathy for your visit. Our visit started with a tour of the vineyard grounds - you will get up close and personal with the grape vines and understand what is really behind what you taste later on. There's plenty to see as there is 15 acres under vines and a total of 7 different grape varietals (two whites, Chardonnay and Albariño and five reds, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Teroldego and Pinot Noir). You'll learn why they planted the way they did and why they planted what they did. You'll understand that Ed's medical background shows up in the health and care of the vines in ways that make a difference in the final output of the plants. We then went to the porch for a fireside tasting of four wines: Albarino (2022), Rose of Cabernet Franc (2022), Cabernet Franc (2020 - American Oak and 2020 - Slovenian Oak). The wines are outstanding. The Albarino is crisp, dry and refreshing - ready for any fish or poultry meal, or just a nice dry white to enjoy with friends. The Rose is a perfect sipper - not sweet by any means and would work well with a variety of foods. The Cabernet Francs were tasted side-by-side while listening to the story of their Slovenian Oak barrels / barrel-making process. The American Oak is full bodied and to me had a hint of a whiskey-like feel to it. The Slovenian Oak was smooth and elegant - certainly something worth enjoying with friends and family. After that, we went into the barrel room to see some more of the operation and do a barrel tasting (if you've not done one of these before, they are very special as you're tasting wines before they are bottled and in some cases while they are still in the maturing phase!). It was an informative and enjoyable experience - it's clear that Ed and Kathy are passionate about their grapes and wines. Take the trip to the mountains and treat yourself to some amazing Maryland wines while there at Six Wicket Vineyards!

Diane, the lovely owner is so gracious and sweet and was able to handle the flow of oenophiles quite effortlessly. They have the main tasting room and also an adjacent room that could accommodate a group tasting. Diane did a great job of giving us a detailed description of each wine and I was actually pleasantly surprised! I'm not a huge fan of Md wine but truly enjoyed the wines here. I purchased a bottle of the Estate Red and they had a wonderful sangria made with their Chambourcin which I also purchased. I love supporting local and especially such a great vineyard such as this one that is also a working farm. I would encourage anyone to venture out to this vineyard--but actually put the address in your gps and not just the name, you will end up at someone's home. I assume this family are use to people ending up at their home-they have a sign that has the address of the vineyard on it--thank you mystery family!
