The Zucchini Ricotta with Chesapeake jumbo lump blue crab was such a standout, and the Pepperoni with Hot Honey was another favorite. Definitely save room for dessert! The Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie and Crème Brûlée are both great choices. For wine, I recommend trying one of their wine flights. My personal favorite was The Fav Wines, featuring the 2025 Brine, Riesling, and Petit Manseng. If cocktails are more your style, the Rosé Sangria Spritz and Gold Rush are worth trying too. I also loved the 2025 Honey, which is sweet, nectary, and vibrant. It's a great bottle to take home and continue the experience. Overall, Old Westminster Winery offers much more than just wine. They also rotate shifts, so we had a total of 3 servers for our 3-hour time slot. : Book a reservation, as they book up very fast. Also, try a cabana; it's worth it. Food First let's discuss the wine. If you're a dry wine lover, you may really enjoy the selection here. Unfortunately, I'm more partial to sweet wine, so I was disappointed that the available wines leaned dry. I was sooooo excited to try Honey, which was the sweetest option, only to find out it was SOLD OUT . Just my luck, the wine that sounded like it was made for me was the one I couldn't get!!!!! The Pepperoni Hot Honey pizza was okay. I liked the combination of pepperoni with that little touch of sweetness from the hot honey, but overall it didn't wow me. I did love that the food came out super fast; you order and then blink, and it's coming out. Crab Dip was pretty meh for me, too. As a Baltimore native, you already know we take our crab dishes seriously!!! BUT WAIT!!!!! Because dessert came through and SAVED the day!!!! Come to find out it actually is the owners of the Vineyard's home and they have a tasting room attached. The parking lot is very small and only able to accommodate a few cars. I recommend car pooling if you can. They have a very nice patioSet up with fire pits and heat lamps that I would be willing to bet would be nice to sip wine and have a conversation. It was a little bit too cold for my taste when I went on a Sunday in November so I chose to go inside. The tasting room is small and due to Covid restrictions they have limited seating. Mask use is mandatory here. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines that I have. I don't know too much about wines Oh I opted to have a tasting. For seven dollars I got six samples of wine to choose from. After sampling them all I made a decision to purchase a bottle before I left. The Amalfi Toast is a do not miss IMO. For the uninitiated, boquerones are Spanish white sardine filets cured in acid then packed in olive oil. Unlike the premium salty boney tinned sardines available in the US, the result is a delicate cured white sardine filet over toasted focaccia coated with whipped buffalo milk garlic butter and fresh herbs. We were out somewhat in this direction, and there was a Meetup group going here, so we thought to check it out as it's rare we ever go to a winery as it's normally out of the way, more likely of an occurrence when on a vacation. We took some crazy back roads from where we were in western Howard County, through Carroll, & into eastern Frederick County, where Black Ankle is. We went to the bar inside to get wines. I got a white wine; I think Chardonnay, and I think my girlfriend got a sweeter Rose or something like that. Both were delicious, but we preferred our own more. We sat outside in a nice patio area. We were in the hot Sun on that sunny day, but that was cool with me. We learned of a tour going on, which we got in on. The tour guide who wore an Italian flag bowtie was entertaining and informative. We walked around the vineyard, going inside the cooled storage areas, centrifuge area where the wine is mixed, etc. We even saw some of the old wines they had made from years earlier. We saw sheep dogs, which protect the vineyard from pests, which were cute. Overall, this is a high quality winery with plenty of nice outside & inside seating.
