I was recently in Wisconsin for a dance contest staying across the street. I went here for dinner one night. I was very impressed by the quality of the steak and sides, the excellent service, and reasonable price. The steak was a nice medium as I ordered and came with crispy onion straws. I also ordered the baked potato and sour cream. The complementary rolls are also pretty good. Overall really liked the place. read more

SO GOOD! We went here because Texas Roadhouse in Oak Creek was packed. I hate going to steakhouses because we can usually cook better at home, but the steak was REALLY good! I started with the chicken dumpling soup and was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious and hit the spot on this very cold winter day. I went outside the box and got the chicken teriyaki for dinner. It was perfect. The vegetables were perfectly cooked with the right amount of crunch, chicken and rice were really good too. The steak was cooked exactly to medium rare and had a great seasoning. We decided to try this restaurant because it was close to our hotel, and honestly, we weren't sure what to expect given the mixed reviews. It was quiet when we went for lunch, and the service was friendly. We started with the cheese curds ($12.99) and French onion soup ($5.99) both of which were solid choices with a lot of cheesy goodness . When deciding between the meatloaf and the meatloaf stack, I asked about the difference and was told the stack is covered in gravy, fried onions, and cheese--so of course, i went with that. It's Wisconsin, after all. It was good, but if I was drunk or hungover it would have been incredible. The country music was nice, and made sure it wasn't TOO quiet. While we probably wouldn't go out of our way to return, it's a pretty good option if you're staying nearby. read more

Every so often I go here with my fiancé and my father sometimes we have burgers sometimes we have the ribs and the ribs are always awesome here my only problem is sometimes the servers don't come back and check as frequently for refills, but I think that's why the owner steps in from time to time and I think he is pretty awesome for doing so from time to time, but I do really think that they should get better at refilling sodas, faster during the meal. I should at least be able to get two refills before I'm done with my meal. Shouldn't I other than that? The ribs were awesome to Wednesdays ago I forgot to leave a review. It is very fair to grade this 3-stars. The food will fill you up, the place is decent, service is fine. Our waitress was very slow and at one point when we got there, we thought she forgot us but finally came around. Place wasn't packed but had a decent crowd. Food reminded me of the food you'd get in those frozen Banquet TV dinners. A loaded baked potato only comes with butter and sour cream, no cheese, bacon or chives. Hadn't seen that in a long time. Bread placed on the table looked inviting but was flavorless! I honestly thought I had lost my taste buds! We were near with smiles as soon as we walked in, were promptly seated, and our orders taken. We were even (respectfully) given advice that the portions were huge, and boy was that the truth. Had an overnight in Milwaukee and stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Milwaukee Airport. Wanted to get some dinner and there's not a ton of options around there if you don't have a car. I ended up walking here. Staff are friendly and had me seated in no time. I ended up getting an awesome server and asked for a recommendation. I ended up getting a roast chicken with broccoli and also a small chili. I started with the chili which was alright. Once that was done the chicken and broccoli showed up. Not bad as well. Needed a quick bite picked this place. Not horrific but definitely not as great as they think they are. Ribs were steamed and now smoked at all, smothered in a basic sauce. Serviceable steakhouse with friendly service. We were here for a quick lunch and had what I'd consider typical NJ diner food: a grilled cheese sandwich and a grilled chicken wrap. We were in a bit of a bind stuck in Milwaukee due to a flight cancellation that resulted in being booked on a flight the next day. With no transportation... a place right by the hotel was appreciated. Friendly service and tasty food helped make our bonus day a bit easier. I let myself be talked into the Steer because it was super close to the hotel and we didn't really feel like taking a long drive. It was a mistake. The steaks here are outrageously priced and if the burger is any indication, not worth it for taste either. My burger, which I ordered medium rare arrived closer to medium well. The chili on top of it was bland and wet, there was not nearly enough cheese. The fries had a good flavor but needed more time in the fryer to get crispy. The only saving grace here was the beer. Ok I am back to have breakfast when they were open and to leave an honest review of a meal. When I walked and up to the hostes stand she left me standing there for a few minutes while on a personal phone call. The place has a lot of wood everywhere with a bar in the middle of the room. There is wood booths and tables with a back room that has more seating. There is flat screens all over and no matter where I was looking I had a view of a Tv. The menu has all the breakfast items that you would expect. I would keep it simple and have the two eggs, Texas toast, spiced rotisserie potatoes and ham. The toast was off putting because the bottom was soggy with the texture of bread pudding, WTF happened there. The spiced rotisserie potatoes were explained by my server as having peppers and onions in them but I couldn't find any, see my pictures. They were not cooked to order and tasted like they were made in a batch days ago and had no spiced taste at all, fairly boring which needed salt but that didn't really make them much better. The smoked ham was very good because it was real and not cook to death because it was still moist. The ham was hand trimmed of all its outer fat, I like a little fat left on and I will trim to my liking. The sunny side up eggs were perfect. Overall the potatoes and toast were disappointing today, they were so close to having a decent breakfast but fell short. Maybe if I ordered the hash browns that would have been cooked to order and made for a better breakfast, I don't know but no excuse for the weird soggy parts of my toast that mad me want to gag. Maybe in the future I will try there lunch/dinner menu and see if I can give a better star rating but breakfast is out. read more

Steer clear of the Steer! Flew in from west coast staying overnight at nearby Marriott and this place was within walking distance which was appealing. I asked what was good there and they recommended a burger which was gristly and ended up spitting out a fragment of cartilage when I ate it back in my room. I had the chicken noodle soup on-site and it tasted like mush the noodles were so over-cooked. I was so hungry I rained pepper onto it and choked it down with saltines. Went to the Branded Steer for the first time last night. Later in the evening, around 9pm. The inside was set up perfectly with a large center bar and plenty of seating with tv's all over. Tara, my bartender, made sure the mug was remained full! Dead set on a burger...a terrific burger. Despite the grill about to close, the staff was very accommodating. And I'm extremely glad they were because it was AMAZING!!! So many other various items on the menu as well. And the steak fries are a must. Michelle, the manager, was super cool. We were excited to sink our teeth into some fine smoked meats. Alas, it was not to be. This place's prices are insane. Go to an upscale place for what they charge. We were under impressed with the atmosphere and completely dismayed to see every item on the menu priced at a point I'd expect from a fine dining establishment.
