I was out in the area and was early for a class so I stopped in for a bite to eat. Sat at the bar and ordered a soda and then asked the bartender if I could order a kid's meal and she said yes. It did seem like she was more attentive what looked like regulars (as someone else mentioned). Maybe it was because I wasn't ordering alcohol, but I didn't feel like the service was all that friendly (I realize alcohol sales are the bread and butter for bars and increase the tip). Stopped in for a quick dinner after hiking around the lake. Ok beer selection. I had the Reuben sandwich with a side salad. The side salad was crisp and the blue cheese dressing came with a side of actual blue cheese crumbles which was awesome. The Reuben was very tasty though a bit chewy in spots. My wife enjoyed her Philly cheese steak and baked onion soup. Service was friendly and attentive and ambiance was hometown bar. First off, we dine here often. Our family members, friends dine here. I estimate I've spent well over $1500 here in the past 20+ yrs. Here is my feedback: Food 4.5 stars Service 2 stars, forgot things, cranky attitude, we asked for more potato salad, cole slaw, bread and we got push back. Just say, "yes, be right back." Ambiance 2 stars, I dislike walking through the little cashier/ waitress space to sit down at my table. Shut down re-model that space, re-open. Maybe move the bathrooms away from the kitchen. First time visiting Grill 164 and overall we were very pleased. The beer was cold and the food was tasty. An older establishment that shows its age and character along with a friendly staff. I had their signature burger which was cooked medium and was very well seasoned and juicy, I would certainly order it again. My wife had the tenderloin steak which was nicely seared and cooked to perfection! Downtown Oconomowoc has a lot of nice establishments and is always fun to visit. read more

We recently stopped in for a burger. It was probably the best burger I've ever had. We started with a bourbon and a beer. The drink was a nice pour (ask for short glass if you want to taste the liquor). We both ordered a grill burger. It was definitely a handmade beef patty cooked on the grill, not flat top. It had excellent flavor and was cooked perfectly. It comes topped with TWO nice strips of bacon, definitely grilled on flat top not deep fried. If your bacon comes out really crisp and crumbles easily; it's probably thrown into the deep fryer. They cook it to perfection!!! Also comes with grilled onions and mushrooms. Your choice of cheese topped with lettuce and tomato on a toasted bun. You also get fries but we upgraded to chili on one order and salad on the other. Both were outstanding. Chili was homemade and salad is always fresh with what tastes like homemade dressing. This has become our new go to place. Beat take out, it's always good, fresh and done when they say. Also when friends come to town it's our go to place. There fish on Friday is good but salads; coleslaw and potato salad are made with WAY to much mayonnaise. Tarter doesn't have enough dill relish either. Although most restaurants unfortunately don't know how to make tarter very good. Fish is good I'd upgrade to lettuce salad and cooked vegetables. Lastly there shrimp dinner is usually my go to dinner. It's hand dipped in batter and fried ( you can get it grilled) I get there homemade garlic mashed and salad. Stopped in over 4th of July weekend on a Saturday afternoon. Most folks were camped out for fireworks and the place was rather empty. Kids wanted to sit at the bar, which was was offered and they have bar-rail tables designed for food service. That said, we were glad to have asked for the kids' food immediately, because we waited a full 45 minutes after placing drink and kids menu food orders before the bartender came back around. We sat idle and attempted to gain her attention multiple times, watched as regulars came to the bar, were served and attended to immediately, and when it was at last time for our order, we took it to go, tipped and left. In all we waited more than an hour for discourteous (albeit friendly) service. Unless you go often, I would not recommend this establishment as it is. I'd also skip the kids food. This is a step up from your typical bar and grill. Menu has a bit of an old school supper club feel to it. Staff seem experienced and well-trained. Everyone was working hard. Cozy feel to the bar seating area, but the ambiance in the separate dining room is a bit lacking. Thankfully, it offers extra seating space on a busy weekend night. I'm somewhere between 3-4 stars. Todd's is a friendly neighborhood bar & grill with some of the better food in the area. The decor is a bit dated and could use a refresh but they've got a long bar and a number of booths when you walk in and then another 2 rooms with tables if you prefer not to eat in the bar area. The Friday fish fry is recommended and comes with potato pancakes, cole slaw, and all the fixings plus the Saturday night prime rib is usually great. Todd's soups of the day are also excellent (although the French Onion isn't my favorite anymore) and you'll enjoy the schnitzel and typical German specialties that you would expect in Wisconsin as well as fried appetizers, burgers, steaks, etc. There are a few bottles of okay larger production wines although virtually all patrons go for beer and mixed drinks. The service can be irregular but you will likely find very good bar food and a friendly atmosphere at Todd's, especially if sitting at the bar. read more

For lunch, had a grill burger with all the fixings. Cooked to order with crisp bacon, a tasty amount of cheese, and fried onions. Added the onion rings for an additional $2. Wife and I sat at a booth in the bar, very comfortable. We have eaten at Todds many times and always find great food, tonight was no exception. Service was great,fast and friendly. Fish was cooked perfectly, I had cod tonight but the perch is always great as well. Wife had the fried chicken which is never a great idea on Friday in Wisconsin because often it tastes like fish. Maybe it was because we dropped in fairly early (before noon) but the food was terrible. I had the Shrimp Po'Boy...four (4) small breaded shrimp (think frozen) on a roll with an overly salty mayonnaise spread. That's all there was to it. For the price of the dish, I would have expected fresh sauteed shrimp or maybe a salad on the side...disappointed. The cocktails were fair but the waitress was also the bartender so the service to our table (about 10 feet from the bar) was spotty at best. We won't be back. read more

Oconomowoc needs some decent places to eat, as residents- we've been to them all... this was our first time here. We ate outside (mainly because the insides smells like old people... not good) but there was a cute patio. We had the Duck Strips, which looked scary but were actually delicious. We also had kids tenders-(my 10yr old rated them a 3.5...haha) but they looked good. My husband and I shared the Steak and Swiss Flatbread- (5 STARS! Seriously so good...tons of steak- perfectly cooked!) and the Perch. Perch was good- light, pan fried- would do it again. Overall, service was excellent and this place is underrated, definitely worth a try. Presentation not so great, but the food was excellent. We will be back. read more

Lived in Oconomowoc for a while now and have had fish at a few other places. Though we'd try Todds since we've been talking about doing it for a while. My wife and I both got the cods, she got baked and I got the fried. The fish was pretty good, not the best I've ever had, but not the worst either. The portions weren't overwhelming, so if you're looking for a lot of fish for 11 dollars, look elsewhere. I got the fries with my fish and they were so overcooked they were horribly crunchy. Overall the fish was ok, the fries were terrible and my wives potato pancakes were pretty good. The Blue gill is the best I have ever had!!! The atmosphere is awesome and so are the staff. Always friendly and attentive. I have never had a bad experience yet.
