A great choice if you are craving Italian food with a nice ambiance. As mentioned by other reviewers, it can get crowded and reservations are definitely a better idea then chancing a walk-in. All of the servers that we have ever had here have been really, really nice as well as well informed as to the menu. The lasagna here is PHENOMENAL!! My wife and I usually order different dishes so that we can try new things, but here we always both order the lasagna. A typical night for us looks like an order of the bruschetta as an app, two lasagna entrees...and maybe a few vodka sodas and captain and diets to wash things down :) I have also tried the pizza a few times, and it is good...but the heart in my stomach is in love with the lasagna. read more

Food: we started with some beer battered cheese curds that were unusually good. The cheese was tender and warm unlike the cheese curds we have been used to. We tried a cranberry and apple salad with scallops. The scallops were the best part. The beer list was more interesting than the wine list, but they did have several wines available by the glass. 4/5 Service: Both the bartender and Andrea our server were very attentive 4.5/5 Ambience: huge parking lot surrounding the restaurant. There was apparently a birthday party for a six-year-old with some very wild children running about. Once they left, the place was much more pleasant. 3.5/5 read more

Been passing by this place for years and finally got to try it out! We went on a Friday evening and got seated right away for a table for four and a baby. We did call head to make sure there was availability. I got the fall harvest bowl with blackened chicken and that was very tasty. My partner actually said they preferred it over their fish fry. I enjoyed their fish fry! It had a thin batter over the fish and was seasoned well. We also shared a pepperoni pizza. I wasn't too crazy about it, I think the provolone cheese didn't fit it well. Space was very nice inside and our waiter was attentive and nice! read more

The venue was really nice. Plenty of seating and different areas like regular dining room, bar, and kitchen views to choose when making a reservation. Our booth had charger ports, which is nice for phone junkies. We made a reservation and were promptly seated and greeted. They had special seasonal menu items and then a wide range of everyday options. The braised short rib mac was excellent, it had a white cheddar cheese sauce. read more

The establishment has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating! We sat outside as it was lovely weather. We had a good server, he was very nice and told us the special with ease as well as refilled our waters often. Personally the food was a miss for me. I have a hard time loving pizza but I felt over all both things we got lacked flavor. The garlic bread didn't have a wisp of garlic with it. I was longing to taste something. I couldn't tell if I liked or didn't like the marinara sauce, but I'm glad it came with our food without an additional up charge ! The prices were a little high in my opinion for what you are getting, but I'm not from here so that might be the going price. I would come back, but would not get what I ordered before and try their other options! read more

I have been to Twisted Fire several times. The food and service are always consistently good. I enjoy their tenderloin and mushroom risotto and my boyfriend enjoys the Caprese Chicken. read more

Still a big fan. I'm just coming here to update that we came in with a larger group and were so pleased that everything good we know about Twisted Fire held. The waitstaff were so kind and patient with us as our group took a long time to order, and our server made great recommendations and played well with our more boisterous group members. And one of our friends had a special flatbread, and needless to say there was nothing left behind. We'll continue to come back and recommend Twisted Fire whenever we can. read more

Didn't like that hot wings didn't come with carrots or celery.. the ranch dressing was different tasting, ordered Caesar salad and wasn't impressed . The pizza was t that great either.. just not great! The hot wings were awesome except I needed carrots and celery and they don't do that read more

We eat here only a few times a year- never had a bad experience. Went yesterday for an early dinner. I had ordered the dry-rubbed wings ap and my guest ordered a burger - cooked medium. The burger was overcooked - well done - and had no flavor. No salt. No pepper. She wouldn't send it back. The truffle fries with it were great Which is why this review is 2 stars instead of 1. My wings were worse than the burger. Flavorless. Our waitress was not personable at all. We observed two other waitresses who appeared to be great- totally interacting with their tables, etc. We are 20-30% tippers. We left 8%. We are not ready to rule TF out yet- we have yet to order their pizzas which do look dynamite. We are committed to give it one more try on pizza run. If it's anything like yesterday's visit, it will unfortunately be our last. read more

Twisted Fire is one of our favorite restaurants in Downtown Oconomowoc! We have been here a number of times over the year and we are never disappointed! The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed whether you choose to sit inside, at the bar, at the chef's table, or outside on the patio. The service is the only thing I can say they could improve on. The wait staff is is not incredibly attentive. We ran out of water and drinks multiple times. At the end of our meal, we had to chase someone down to pay the bill! This time we were there for my son's 12th birthday and they offered him a free dessert. This wasn't your average, one scoop of ice cream free dessert, he was able to pick anything off of the menu. The food...for apps we ordered breadsticks, cheese curbs, and truffle fries. All pretty simple apps and they were delicious. The breading on the cheese curds was a little heavy - I probably would not order those again. I had the steak and mushroom risotto which was to die for. I love risotto and have found that it cane often times be disappointing, but Twisted Fire got it right! My son ordered the tenderloin and he reported that it was really good and has continued to ask to go back! read more

Came here on a whim on New Year's Day and it did not disappoint! They seemed busy and potentially understaffed, but we were very well taken care of. The food was all excellent!! The pizza crust had a sweet taste to it which I found to be uniquely delicious and the arancini balls were also great and different. A yummy place to try in downtown Oconomowoc. read more

We enjoyed every part of our visit to Twisted Fire. The ambience was great, the food was phenomenal and the service was amazing. We had an appetizer of the cheese curds w/jalapeño ranch...yumm, the steak and fries(truffle fries) was served at a perfect temp, and the prime burger was cooked perfectly. Now let me tell you about the dessert, a hot cast iron skillet of a delicious brownie a La mode. Hey adults give the Twisted New Fashioned a shot you won't regret it. read more

Good place for pizza. There were nice folks and atmosphere. Parking was easy. Would definitely go again if in the area.

Steak dishes are great! Bar staff is so friendly! Have gone multiple time stand it's always a great experience.

This was probably the worst $60 I've ever spend at a restaurant. I ordered the truffle fries, the caprese chicken pasta and lasagna. Let me tell you the fries were absolutely disgusting, soggy cold and the cheese had all accumulated together. Nothing made it any different than some fries with Parmesan on it. The chicken pasta was also terrible. The pasta was dense and heavy spirals. The chicken was literally just a chicken breast no seasoning just white and boiled. Only thing that was decent was the lasagna. If I would have gotten two of those this review would have been better. The place was packed when I picked up my order in the pouring rain so others must like it but I won't be coming back. What a shame and waste of money... read more

Underwhelming "Italian" seasoned food. First time; last time! Pleasant waitstaff. GZ PS: It's a Greater Milwaukee area issue. Italian venues cater to a "Chef Boyardee" common consumer palate. read more

Super attentive staff, mostly very friendly. Our server hustled all evening. The manager came and checked on us. Very loud rooms and a little crowded, but it seems to be a popular place. We ordered a pizza which had excellent quality ingredients and was perfectly cooked. Fries were good but unremarkable. Alfredo spinach mushroom pasta was very good; the Alfredo sauce was thin but flavorful. Finally, one of us had seafood pasta. It was ok. There were large shrimp, 2 scallops and crab throughout. The homemade spaghetti was good, not great. The sauce was pretty bland. I was surprised by the cilantro garnish, but at least it added some flavor. The dish needed a good dash of red pepper or more garlic or something to make it a little less bland. Next time we will try the house burger, as it looked amazing. read more

We were completely blown away by Twisted Fire! We lived downtown Milwaukee for many years and still tend to go down there frequently as our choices for non-chain restaurants are not huge until recently. There are several new restaurants that have opened in the western suburbs that are widening our dining options. The interior is modern with an industrial feel. Love the open kitchen and the option of kitchen side dining. They have a wood fired oven that turns out wood fired pizzas and many delicious appetizers and main dishes. The hubs was impressed with the beer list and the drink menu is equally as impressive with unique takes on classic cocktails. Great happy hour specials as well on drinks and appetizers. Food: nice mixture of Wood-Fired pizzas, main dishes and seasonal specials. All the dishes we ordered were so good and well executed. The only thing I would change is the timing of the food. It took awhile to get our appetizer and salad. Then a couple of bites in, our main dishes arrived. Twisted fire is definitely worth the drive to check out if you don't live in the area. read more

We had an amazing experience and will definitely be back. We started at the bar and got a beer, a mixer and mushrooms. The tap beer wasn't the coldest but the bartender replaced it immediately. I think it was the first tap of the evening; second beer was fine. My mixed drink was made exactly the way I like it. Mushrooms were tasty. Started with an order of cheese curds and these are a must have!!!! Best I've ever had. Everyone loved them. I ordered Souvlaki and salad. The Souvlaki was tasty, a little overdone; it lost its juicy ness but tasty. Came with pita and tzatziki. The salad I can't remember the name but was a mix of cucumber, onion, tomatoes, peppers avocado, feta, and kalamata olives was dressed with balsamic dressing. Was very good, it was unusual, fresh and a great accompaniment to the Souvlaki. Prime burger with asparagus was done perfectly and tasty. Lots of options if you don't want fries. Spanakopita and avocado salad was very good. Mushroom Alfredo was really good! Waitress was good. Prices were reasonable. Will defiantly be back!!! Left with to go bags!!! The patio was really nice but the chairs were terribly uncomfortable. read more

Nice casual atmosphere but not too casual. Service and food were really good. A bit pricey, though.

To look at the outside of this restaurant, you'd think you were going into one of those Greek-American restaurants that serve everything from burgers to chop suey to spaghetti, because the building style fits the generic mold of each and every one of those types of restaurants. Do not judge a restaurant by it's building, however, and certainly not this restaurant. Inside is a very modern industrial-ish dining room, with high top seating bordering the kitchen so you can watch the chefs prepare each tantalizing looking dish. We chose a booth for intimate seating, and there are regular dining tables as well. The interior is warm and welcoming, and home to several pieces of art done by local artists, and each is for sale at very reasonable prices. The menu is small plates and entrees. Our friend chose the scallops, which came with butternut squash risotto and asparagus spears. It looked delicious and she said it was, but honestly, I'm glad I didn't order it, because there were only 4 scallops. My husband had the walleye fish fry, which came with truffle fries. Both were good (I sampled), and the walleye was a larger fillet than either of us expected. I had a really hard time deciding what to pick, so I went with my first instinct, which was small plates. I opted for the souvlaki (seasoned pork skewers with pita wedges, olives, and tzatziki), stuffed mushrooms (filled with artichoke, spinach, Manchego and bread crumbs), and the sriracha honey carrots (sweet and spicy, and three colors). The souvlaki was served on a plate, while the mushrooms and carrots were served in small cast iron skillets. The presentation was very nice, and all were delicious and filling. I prefer my carrots a little more cooked, but I can overlook that, because the natural sweetness of the veggies combining with the honey to perfectly balance the spiciness of the sriracha was spot on. The mushrooms had a savory quality to them and if I had more room, I would have ordered more. The pork souvlaki was nice and tender, not at all dried out, and was seasoned to perfection. I would 100% order each of these again. For dessert, we shared the S'mores Pot de Creme: chocolate mousse infused with orange liqueur, and toasted marshmallow fluff on top; the perfect end to such a delicious meal. The reason for the 4 stars, and not 5, was for the drinks (I would actually give 4.5, if I could). I ordered the Inferno's Lovechild. It has a big ole flame next to it on the menu, and one of the ingredients is jalapeno, so I assumed a jalapeno liquor of some sort. I was expecting heat, but got none. The drink was flavorful, yes, but it was lacking the heat that I thought the flame implied. I hope the person in charge of the drinks will tinker with the recipe a little bit to make it what it could be. My suggestion? Rim the glass with chili powder or something similar. Who would have thought that a nice place like this would be out in Oconomowoc? Color me surprised, and a fan! I would definitely trek out here again for some of that deliciousness, and to explore more of the menu. Good job, Twisted Fire! 3/2021 read more

Service was slightly above average, Food was decent and prices were fair. There was nothing exceptional about twisted fire. The lighting was bright taking away from the rustic ambience that I associated with the name twisted fire. The wood fired pizza is middle of the road good. The name twisted fire is the hook and brought me in I was expecting a different experience. It's good place to eat if you want simple food. Our server was really the highlight I wish I could remember her name for a shout out. She was funny knowledgeable of the menu and made good conversation and was timely with her service. read more

The menu is interesting which drew us to this restaurant. I understand an industrial vibe but the lighting was crazy bright. Atmosphere because of that wasn't great. Ordered the burrata salad as an appetizer which was excellent. Presentation was great. Enjoyed a craft cocktail which was very good and also a glass of wine. Nice pour in a nice wine glass. One of us ordered pizza and I had the tenderloin and mushroom risotto. I understand the wood fired oven scenario, but the burning wood taste on both dishes was overwhelming and a total turn off. Totally different than other wood fired or smoked dishes we have had elsewhere. Kind of disappointing because the tenderloin was done perfectly and the risotto was the best I have had. Probably not a do over for us read more
