Everything was great! Food was good, service was amazing, and the atmosphere was comfortable.

OMG!!! If I could've given them 6 stars I would've. We started with burrata and heirloom tomato salad but it had a jalapeno jam that was a great twist and perfectly prepared and plated with a cold corn soup that was the best soup I've ever had! I had bass with a fava bean compliment but there was also a fava bean puree which reminded me of an edamame puree form Sushi Sho in Waikiki, a $300/person restaurant and small diced chorizo also excellent and finished with an unusual mushroom I don't remember the name of but excellent too. My Gf had a Ceasar salad with shrimp, different and also excellent. We had to have 2 deserts after dinner a banana something and a strawberry shortcake with homemade strawberry ice cream and pickled strawberries very unusual and both to die for!!! The food, thanks to the newly appointed or should I say anointed chef Juan, was extremely creative, sophisticated with great combinations that went really well together and a shout out to our excellent server Lindsay who was perfect the entire night and the fun and jovial Maitre d'! What a gem for Oconomowoc! They definitely need our support during this crazy time in the world so GO THERE ASAP!!! We went back last night for round 2 and were equally impressed. I had to have another bowl of cold corn soup, a very unusual and creative mushroom appetizer and I also had the scallops. Everything as delicious as expected. We happened upon this place when visiting my grandmother and it was amazing! We sat out on the front patio which was a great atmosphere. The food was so much better than we expected. We got the stuffed mushrooms, the truffle fries, burrata salad, scallops and risotto, shrimp and grits and a kids pizza. Literally every thing was better than the last! Scallops were cooked perfectly! Risotto was really flavorful. Stuffed mushrooms were really tasty. We will definitely be making this a new regular dinner spot and would even drive the 40 min just to come here! So happy we found this little gem. read more

This is an excellent addition to Oconomowoc dining- fun, fresh, and out of the box flavor combinations. Since Chef Kaitlin has taken the reins, everything has gotten better and better. If you tried it early on, definitely go back and see for yourself! Everything is scratch-made, the Pinsas are fun and artfully crafted. My only critique would be consistency with bar drinks- substantially different sizes between visits, although they were both tasty. Definitely leave room for dessert too. The s'more is off the hook- especially with their nitro cold brew. read more

Went on Saturday night at 8 for date night. Had booth seating with a window. Very attentive staff, at least 3 staff stopped to see if we needed anything. Ordered a glass of wine and a local brewed beer. Appetizers was the brussel sprouts, servered hot with a balsamic glaze. Very well received by both of us. Entrees where the vegetable pasta (no protein) and the flat iron pork with brussel sprouts. Yes i reallly like their brussel sprouts. Bith dishes were nicely plated and wonderfully tasteful. Was not as busy as i expected but this will change when word gets around. Prices are reasonable. Service great. read more

My family went to the twisted fire for the first time the other day, First, the service was excellent and friendly. The restaurant was clean. Unfortunately our meat was under cooked. Frankly the steak was a little tough. The burger was huge and after being cooked to the ordered finish, was very good. I had the petite steak with risotto and asparagus, unfortunately it was not what I had hoped, I ordered the meat medium and got rare to medium rare, The risotto was salty and there wasn't much asparagus to speak of. The dish was served as a bowl with everything mixed up, that's not what I expected. My wife liked her sandwich a lot and the truffle fries were great. I liked the fact that the owner was on the floor and present for the customers. We will go back, and I would recommend them to friends. read more

I have been a fan of twisted Fire, but not any longer. I had dinner there a couple of days ago and it was basically inedible. It's the second time this has happened in the past few weeks The vegetables were hardly cooked, if they were at all. The Pizza was most likely made by someone who had never made one before and clearly told to not use too much in the way of ingredients. The restaurant was extremely busy and I think that may have contributed to the poor quality of the food. They just could not offer the quality they have in the past being so over run by customers. They were just trying to keep as many as they could fed, no matter how poor the quality of the food. read more

Service was excellent and there was a full house tonight. Cheese curds were above average with a killer dipping sauce. Soup was a little on the different side - Cauliflower and Mushroom. They could tell my wife was not a fan and offered her a salad (no up charge for the switch) I tried some of the salad and thought it was excellent. The vinegarette was fantastic. The hostess and others were very attentive and not overbearing. My wife had a hanger steak that came with a bratwurst. Can I get a case of those to go?? Outstanding! I had braised short ribs which I liked. I had an Old Fashioned that was very good. It was a little pricey but not enough so as to keep us away from a future visit. read more

I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much when I walked into this place but holy cow was I surprised! Not only was the staff super friendly and efficient but the food was out of this world. I have been very lucky to have eaten in some of the best restaurants anywhere and this one is one of my new favorites. If I were just rating the food I would give Twisted Fire five stars!!! We had a pinsa and the twisted burger and every bite was delicious and unique, down to the two pickle slices served on the side of the burger plate. We went on one of our first nice spring days and they must have had the air conditioning on already... my friend and I both went out to the car to get jackets/sweaters and I still wasn't cozy. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. She even split both dishes for us when we told her were ordering the two dishes to share. Someone else mentioned that the majority of the wait staff are heavily tattooed and ear-gauged. Not that they can't give great service but it definitely sets an atmosphere that is far below professional. read more

When I first walked in the restaurant I was impressed by the decor and design of the place. My initial enthusiasm was quickly overshadowed by the unkempt and dirty looking cooks in the open kitchen. A few had long beards and NO BEARD nets were in sight. I consider that a sanitary issue. It might hit home harder for me because I am a doctor, but hair in my food is unacceptable. The menu makes an attempt at high end food, but it is bit dowdy and EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. I ordered a pinsa which is basically a flatbread that was very scimpy on toppings. My husband had a burger. The burger was very well cooked and was the only decent part of the meal. The smoked provolone was a nice touch. I visit Wisconsin quite often and there are much better, and more hygienic places to eat for the money you will spend. read more

Scallops were not fantastic, good however over priced for only getting three small scallops on the plate. The burger was decent but was way over cooked. Our service left much to be desired. Even got a sigh when we asked for the bill to be split between couples. The atmosphere is fun but extremely loud. Twisted fire just opened a couple days ago here in Oconomowoc and from our first experience, they're going to be a welcome addition to the Oconomowoc dining scene. We stopped in on a family outing and were greeted warmly and enthusiastically by the host and were seated immediately. The Decour of the restaurant is a mix of rustic farmhouse and industrial with a huge woodfired stove in the back In the open kitchen area. A massive improvement over the 1980s styled diner that had previously been in the spot. The menu is eclectic but has enough grounding in typical Wisconsin fare that just about anyone could find something they like on it. We ordered beer battered cheese curds as an appetizer and they were delicious with an extremely light tempura style batter. For the main course my wife and son each ordered the twisted fire burger, I opted for the spare ribs and my daughter got the kids menu flat bread pizza. Head chef (and owner?) Jason has clearly put a lot of thought into the menu with incredibly fresh ingredients and flavors that really pop, like the root beer fried onions on the burger's that we're amazing! My spare rib was cooked perfectly and the dumplings that it was served with were absolutely sublime! Everyone at the table cleared their plate and we opted for the pineapple crème brûlée for dessert which disappeared in about half a minute after being delivered to the table! I was inspired to write this review after both my kids asked if we could go back to the restaurant again tonight as they were getting ready for school this morning. That has never happened before! Will definitely be back and we hope that Jason and his crew can keep the crowds coming in to this great new spot. read more

We were trying to remember the great app they served (we're thinking hummus and cukes)and this time we got sour dough bread and honey butter. The vegetable bowl was pretty good, but no cauliflower and way too much yam/sweet potato and boo Chou was too charred/crispy. I did get a protein on it, duck confit, which was tasty. Ordered the seafood platter with what was called a salmon steak, swordfish steak and scallops. Comes with mushroom risotto. Unfortunately they weren't steaks, but more like 3 bites of each fish. Risotto was crunchy and lacked flavor. Then dove into my scallop and found it to be undercooked. Very overpriced for the amount of food served. The only saving grace was our wonderful server. This was our first visit and it sure won't be the last. Cheyenne met us at the door and found us a great booth even though the place was full. Our waitress was friendly and was able to tell us about her favorite items. Nice wine selection but $10-12 per glass was a little high. My husband had the hanger steak and bratwurst, which we thought was a rather unique combo but it was out of this world. I had the hanger pork with sweet potato purée and crispy Brussels sprouts. Knocked my socks off and too much to finish. Thinking about a second glass of Cabernet, Cheyenne happened by the table and offered to get the wine for us. We had it in 30 seconds. Entrees were excellent but they also offer unique flatbreads, burgers, sandwiches and unique salads. The kind of menu that allows you to eat light when you choose to. Loved the seasoned fries. The only improvement could be that the pork chop was a bit dry and more sauce. We did love all the local craft beers and soda. Service: Was very good. Our waitress was super busy and moving fast. She had a great sense of humor and made it a fun night. We loved her stating that the food is homemade from scratch- which you can tell. Atmosphere: Fun place. Neat decor. It's cool you can sit and watch the kitchen. The only odd thing was the host gave us a few choices where to sit. We decided the high top tables at the bar. We recently stopped for the first time in a while on a busy Saturday night. We were seated at the open kitchen counter area. That wouldn't typically be our first choice of seating, but without a reservation, we were just happy there was a spot for us. It was a little loud, but watching the kitchen in action, we could really see how well run things are and how cautious they are with handling food. My husband and I had dinner at Twisted Fire, Oconomowoc WI on Thursday, June 17, 2022. It was fabulous! I ordered Truffle Fries, Chorizo Stuffed Dates wrapped in bacon & pipperada sauce = sooo delish! I have to go back and order these again! Out of this world amazing! I also ordered the Tuna Special which was grilled to perfection and came with baked small potatoes and baby broccoli tips all prepared just right. My Husband ordered the Italian Pizza with Breadsticks. He also raved about his choices. We want to give a shout out to our server Colton who was knowledgeable, and so fun! The whole night was worth every pretty penny spent there. We can't wait to go back! This was my second time there and both times they didn't disappoint. Would love to give it more stars but have had very inconsistent food. One time steak was way undercooked, they reheated it and it was perfect and very tasty with the wood seasoning. Next time steak was way over cooked. Maybe cooking on wood is difficult but that is what they have chosen. My daughter had the scallops which were perfectly cooked and excellent. I think the wait staff was very pleasant. Will try again, but will wait so hopefully they get the grilling technique solidified. read more

Great pizza! Beware that the Caesar salad is grilled! I wasn't expecting that as the previous time we ordered the Caesar salad, the lettuce wasn't charred like tonight's and the menu didn't indicate that the lettuce would be grilled. I didn't care for it, but since we'd ordered curbside pickup and we were home when we discovered the blackened lettuce, it was too late. If that's your preference, you'll enjoy the salad. This is one of my hubby and my favorite dinner places in Oconomowoc!!! The staff are always so friendly, the food is a mix between farm to table and fire kissed deliciousness. Depending on when you go, it can be a longer dining experience if they are really busy, but I don't mind the wait because they serve delicious bread with butter and every ingredient is carefully addressed to create a masterpiece on the plate and in my mouth! Whether dining on a night out, meeting up with friends or just stopping in to grab a cocktail, we always have a pleasant experience at Twisted Fire. Nice decor and good food. My husband burger was delicious and his soup was good. My mushroom Pinsa was OMG and my Cranberry-Apple salad was very good. I'm giving only four because my husband beer could be colder and soup hotter. We will be back to try steak and scallops soon. read more
