Arrived early for reservation. Bartender was gracious and attentive and funny. Got seated prior to our reservation time. This was our second time here. Service was attentive both times. Ordered the almondine trout special and beef tenderloin. We were given last night's dark rye bread instead of the warm fresh baked white bread that usually comes with dinners. That's what we were given last time. Everyone else in the room had the thick white bread. We were given store bought white bread when I asked for the fresh bread. When we asked for the homemade bread, we were told by our server that "the menu just says bread" and we had bread. So we let it go. Note that the menu says "bakery bread". I guess all bread is baked in a bakery. But don't treat diners disparately. Not a good look. If you're out of it, just tell me and I will completely understand. Trout was okay. Veggies were a bit undercooked. The mushroom soup was okay but almost too thick to be called soup and lacked depth of flavor. Salad was good. One issue was that both soup and salad plates were covered in dark rye croutons. Many people dislike the very strong flavor of dark rye. Tenderloin was ordered medium and butterflied but was a bit tough and served slightly overcooked. Onions and mushrooms were good. Wine seemed overpriced for house wine at over $8 a glass compared with food price point. Live music started at 6:30. It was a man with electronic gear and preprogrammed music playing as he sang along. Karaoke style. No specific genre. No instruments. All different types of songs from many different eras. This place is an absolute madhouse on a Friday night. It is very chaotic. There are people scattered in the entrance and on the patio. You have to walk in and go past the bar to check in with the hostess. The bar is packed so you can't even order a drink at the bar to take and wait. The tables on the patio are first come first serve and a waiter comes around out there. We waited an hour for our table. The fish fry is good but not worth the wait. This was our first visit, on a Thursday night. The menu is very different depending on the day of the week so be aware of this and check their online menu when you make your reservation. It also appears they offer a fish fry on more days than just Friday. The location is very secluded, nestled in beautiful trees and a minor view of Pewaukee Lake, and has both inside and outside tables. Unfortunately, we asked for an outside table on this warm night but were told they didn't have the staff to make it happen. On our way out there were people dining outside so that was disappointing. Our server Michelle and busser Tea did a great job and even tho they were both super busy we were well taken care of. Being a Thursday night we had some interesting options including the specials. We decided to try the Ribeye with veggies and a baked potato and it was delicious and a good size serving. We also ordered the full rack of Ribs and that was different. They were well cooked but the sauce was more tomato paste than BBQ sauce taste. While it wasn't bad it was not as visually pleasing and did not taste as expected. This is a personal preference so if you like a hardy BBQ sauce please ask for a taste test before ordering to make sure it will meet your expectations. (The special Beef Ribs roasted had a different and non-BBQ sauce, so be sure to test that one also. It didn't interest me so I avoided it.) The french fries served were all over the place in being cooked, but that's because they were all different sizes from tiny and crispy to large and limp. There is a large drink menu to choose from and the servings are nice. However, we were too full to have one of the tasty-looking desserts. All in all our bill for two women was just over $103 before tips. Not bad for the amount of food served but each dish was a bit of a surprise. We will probably try again because the service was excellent and there are more items we would like to try. But it was not a night to remember, just one to eat out and take home leftovers. The decor is typical supper club style but somehow the room is not too dark. And even tho they have just celebrated their 95th Anniversary, the atmosphere is not old, but more traditional. Lots of windows is nice. One thing to know is that the staff has been here forever; our server for over 25 years, and a long-standing staff speaks well of the owners/management. Many generations have held this Club and you can tell they care. Give it a try and judge for yourself. I think it is worth it. read more

Was in the area and my cousin invited me for a Friday Fish Fry. The setting is back off the road but has plenty of parking. Friday nights appear to be extremely popular so expect a wait, which we did not mind as we had not seen each other in about 4 years so it gave us time to catch up (noise level allowed this with now problem). We were a party of 8, and when we were brought to the table it was set with the cole slaw (VERY GOOD vinegar based) and bread. Our server was prompt and always Che king if any refills were needed. I was surprised to see Du l Wings on the appetizer menu, and being a lover of wings, we tried them. These were perfect! They had a wonderful crunch to them and served with a sweet chili sauce. I got the cod fish fry, which was amazing. The fish batter was not overwhelming like many places do. Seasoned perfectly. The ambience was true Wisconsin with the winter sports items all over. My wife had her baby shower at this venue. We booked this place because of the deck and view, instead, I found out the party was crammed into a back room without access to the outside. It had a savory smell of old mop water. Off to a great start =) The food was mid, after the shower the staff practically pushed everyone out right as the clock struck 3:30 (the end of the event) stressing out half the people. It wasn't cheap per head, and they didn't let anyone take the purchased food... so basically, they watched the staff wheel away our money while booting them out the door. Everything went well together, nothing overpowered the others. We both had Steak Tenderloin and Scallops. Chose there seasoned fries. The steak was perfectly cooked rare, the grilled onions and mushrooms covered enhanced the flavor. The breading on the scallops was a bit thick but protected the delicate scallops well. This is a bummer for me. I really wanted to like 5 O'Clock Club. They have a good reputation, a solid historical location, and are supposed to have amazing fish fries. I sadly did not enjoy my fish fry. I ordered the Fried Cod and Seafood Chowder. The fried cod was lackluster. While I liked the fact that it wasn't beer battered, I thought the fish was overbreaded and lacked any favor. The seafood chowder was also very light on the seafood. The coleslaw was also different, not cream based but more oil based. It wasn't the worst. It was just not what I was expecting. Based on my experience, I would not order their fish fry again. It just didn't live up to the hype. Service was really great, though. Bartenders were friendly and quick with drink orders. The waitstaff is equally friendly and efficient serving food. They are definitely working hard to keep everyone happy. So, while I didn't love my meal, I would likely return to 5 O'Clock to try something other than the fish. read more

I do not venture out to the red counties for dinner very often, but when some friends and neighbors insisted on joining them for a supper club journey, I found it difficult to say no. We were seated right away and our server was very friendly, if not a bit overwhelmed at times. The menu varies by day, which is unusual, but there are a fair amount of options. I rarely get steak at a restaurant but nothing else was really calling out to me. Scallops are one of my favorite foods, so pairing them with a steak sounded like a no-brainer. Adding mushrooms on top seemed like a dream come true! However, the food was just so-so. My starter was the seafood chowder which was insanely peppery. Either there was an accident in the kitchen, or pepper is used as a substitute for flavor there was so much in the soup. My steak was fair, but really nothing that I couldn't have done myself at home for far less. The fried scallops were also just okay. My deep-fried banana caramel cheesecake was definitely the highlight of the meal. Overall the experience was just so-so; I definitely wouldn't drive all the way out to Pewaukee again just to eat here. read more

My dad and I have been coming here every time I'm back in town so I can get a quality fish fry, and usually on a Tuesday! The fish fry is always incredible. I get the perch since it's not common outside the state and it is always perfectly battered and cooked. It feels silly to say because French fries are a dining staple but they make the best French fries. They are always perfectly crisp. But I really wanted to make this review because we just had a 15 person late lunch for my grandma's 90th birthday and they accommodated us so well. Our party say from 3-5:30pm and our waitress managed us while also managing all her other tables and preparing for the dinner service that starts at 4pm. My dad and I have had her as our server before and I really need to get her name next time because she deserves all the praise for being continuously excellent. On top of serving us our meals, she handled the cake we brought (which is a service that is available for 50 cents per person) and shots of their honey whiskey. We had such a wonderful time, and my grandma was very happy. Because we came in still during the lunch hour, we were able to order the fish fry (they serve it every other day they are open except during the Saturday dinner service) but we had others order the Little Cluck chicken sandwich and the Mainstreet Burger, and everyone left very satisfied with their food, as well as the old fashioneds. Wisconsin supper clubs are my favorite thing to come home to every time I'm back in the state, and Five O'Clock Club ranks high on that list. read more

We were in the area and decided to go for dinner somewhere new. It was a week night so we were surprised it was so busy. There was only a half hour wait to get a table, but we had cocktails while we waited and they were vey good. I had a nice bourbon old fashioned that was well made. I ordered a rack of ribs, baked potato and cole slaw, and it was excellent. My wife ordered a seafood platter. It had a nice variety of fish, shrimp and scallops. She enjoyed it, but commented that it was all fried and she would have liked to have a couple of items baked or sautéed to cut down on the some of the batter. Both meals were more than we could eat, so we took the leftovers home. We really enjoyed the authentic supper club atmosphere and the friendly staff. They had nice outside deck seating with a view of the lake, which we normally prefer, but as it was hot, we decided to stay inside where it was cooler. We were very pleased with our experience and are happy to have another great place on our Supper Club list. read more

Its so refreshing to go to a restaurant where you are not getting ripped off by high wine by the glass prices! You see so many places now that are charging over $10 a glass for wine. 5 O'clock Club offers nice wine at $7-$8 a glass. I drink at least 3 glasses at dinner and can't afford these places that charge $10-$11 a glass. 5 O'clock Club clearly is our top 3 best fish fries in Wisconsin. We don't like the thick beer batter fish fries. Their crusty,thin, tasty batter is the best. It comes out very hot! French fries are like Culvers, but much more flavor! Cole Slaw is always fresh and one of the tastiest. Sure, you have to wait on Friday night, just like 95% of all the other restaurants in Wisconsin on Friday night, but its worth the wait. Was excited to drop by the 5 O'clock club for what I had been told was some of the best fish fry around Pewaukee. I ordered the panko breaded walleye fish special which ran $22. Highlights of the dish were that the tartar sauce was some of the best I've tasted and the fish was crispy and cooked well. That's where the highlights ended, the fish was quite literally flavorless. With each bite your tastebuds are met with a nice crunch, some fish flavor, and then... nothing else. Extremely disappointed in what was some of the most expensive fish fry I've paid for. I sincerely hope you catch them on a better day. The patio is beautiful and the restaurant vibe was great. Order an old fashioned if you want a real stiff drink, they're made strong here! read more

Enjoyed a fish fry with my mom last Friday night! This place is happenin' and, as they don't take reservations, expect to wait. We arrived around 7:45 and were quoted a 45-1 hr wait, which was pretty accurate. We might have experienced a longer wait due to it being a summer/holiday weekend. They have plenty of options for fish fry, and the table is set with cole slaw, rye bread, and plenty of tartar sauce so that you almost have no choice but to order it. Plus, they have plenty of seafood options! I opted for the "small" lake perch, and my mom got the baked cod. There is no potato choice, just French fries. I am partial to the potato pancake, but their fries are really good so I wasn't too disappointed. Their small lake perch actually comes with 4 pieces, and I ended up taking 2 home. The baked cod was OK- the melted butter was on the side, so good for the somewhat health conscious. As for the sides, the rye bread was so soft and tasty, and on the light end of the rye bread spectrum. The cole slaw was more vinegar-based, which I appreciated. Finally, they had a great selection of local beers, including their own Amber! I had that and my mom had a local lemon shandy. They were good compliments to the fish, and only around ~4 bucks a piece (I had no idea what to expect as prices weren't listed). I would have ordered an old fashioned for the full supper club experience, but it was not on their cocktail menu. Other observations: *the platters of fish that went past our table were huge!
