This "hole in the wall" bar is a must stop. I love visiting bars like this because of the community they provide. I was welcomed by the locals and had great conversation through my visit. The area is out in the country and can be tricky to find in Google maps. Once I arrived, there was plenty of street parking as well as a lot in the back The inside was charming with a vintage vibe. Drinks were strong and their menu is lengthy. I ordered a cup of the soup which was styled after the Reuben sandwich. The corned beef was excellent. The soup is creamy and flavorful. I have tried to stop by again but they are only open Tuesday through Thursday. I wish I had checked the menu it because the reviews online show a fish fry but I'm not sure if that's available daily since they're closed on Friday? I hope you find out soon! read more

This is the old school tavern in rural area where you go for an old school Friday fish fry. Otherwise they have fried chicken and more typical pub fare. The beer battered haddock fish fry was good, yet heavy. It included thee larger than expected fillets, home made coleslaw, apple sauce, and choice of fries or home made potato pancakes. I opted for the potato pancakes which is almost always a good call. We arrived at 4:45 on a Friday and had a long wait. The bar has about six beers on tap, almost all mainstream beers. I had the breaded perch. Three little and I mean little perch. A small cup of coleslaw. That was tasty, if only there had been more. Two slices of marble rye with a very thin spread of imatation butter on one slice. The fries were good. We went for lunch. I'm 83 years old and a small eater. I was still hungry when I was done with my fish fry. $15.00 , I could have bought a frozen T V dinner and had more food. Ohh, and the fish had no flavor. My friend had the Haddock and said she wouldn't go back. She felt bad because she suggested going there. We all make mistakes. Find another place for a fish fry, there are plenty. When scheduling a fish fry with the in-laws, it was probably a good idea to take into account the beginning of lent... we showed up there shortly after 5:30 and the wait was ~1.5 hours so, instead of impersonating sardines, we went across the street for drinks. When we returned, it was far less crowded but it was immediately evident the previous swarm of people already had their affect on the servers running around in the bar area; their courtesy and politeness while trying to squeeze by was long gone. Luckily our server in the small, rustic dining room was excellent! ...but no Cod! I had the Haddock instead which was heavily breaded and moderately greasy. The food was alright. First time visit to Landmark Inn. I had Shrimp dinner, Hubby had steak sandwich. Both very good. Deep fried cheese curds are always great. Didn't have my camera to take a pic. Waitress was very friendly. Fast service. Was her first day working altho she has eaten there many times. Drove past many times & today I saw the OPEN sign. Was looking for a new place for fish fry, came across the Landmark! Cute, older supper-cluby place in the rural area. Decent sized bar area, with small dining room (I see how it gets full fast). Ordered a couple old fashions at the bar, then seated relatively quickly (snow storm on friday night - so it wasn't that busy). Excellent clam chowder - star of the show for sure! Fish was good, came with all the regular suspects. Hubby got potato pancakes, which he liked (I'm not a fan of them in general, but tried a bite and yes, they were tasty - but just not my thing). Service was quick and friendly. Overall good standard WI Fish Fry. If in the area, its worth a stop! read more

The Landmark is a grand old, small town, neighborhood bar, which works out well because it's in the heart of Freistadt, which actually IS a small town. It was actually my second choice for the evening. I had been referred to The Fox to have something to eat and watch a football game, but when we pulled up, I noticed they had live music, not conducive to watching a football game, so we went across Freistadt Road to The Landmark. Let me tell you what I think is right about the place. Kelly is a great bartender, loads of personality and very attentive. There is a small dining area but we opted for the bar because it's too hard for people facing south in a booth with the television on the north wall. We ordered fried mushrooms for an appetizer, a cheeseburger from the menu and a teriyaki salmon sandwich that was a special. Kelly brought us two bar tables that fit perfectly over the rail and provide a flat surface for our dishes. The order of deep fried mushrooms came very quickly and very hot. The basket contained more mushrooms than I'm used to seeing in an appetizer basket, yay! The teriyaki sauce was wonderful and soaked into a soft bun. The salmon seemed a bit dry but was very flavorful. The burger was huge, the fried onions was a slice of red onion that had been grilled, I never saw that before. The burger was reported to be very good. We left at the half, we were the only ones left in the place, so we departed for another venue so Kelly and the cook could go home. I would like to go back some Friday to try the fish. read more

The worst experience I ever had. I ordered two rounds of drink (while waiting over an hour for a table) and the bartender said to me "I can't keep running your card all night". Needless to say we left. Will not be going back. We went across the street and the service was much better! read more

This is another one of those "you have to know it is there", type places. Great food, great bar. One of my favorites is their Friday Fish fry. Living only minutes away, I can call and they ask me how long before I will get it. I say 5 minutes and it is waiting (hot!) for me when I get there. GREAT lightly breaded Perch. read more

Lunch, dinner, and bakery (GF snicker bars are ) visits have all been great! Unique spins on some comfort food favorites and everything tastes fresh. Have most recently enjoyed the cod fish fries, both baked and fried. Not the quickest turnaround in meals, but I imagine that's due to things being made fresh. Very nice experience. The staff is very nice, even when it was super busy. The fish was not all you can eat (hence the loss of one star cuz fat dudes need food).. the portions were actually good. Excellent Friday night fish fry. You can choose breaded or beer batter perch or haddock. It comes with a choice of fries, German potato salad (superb), or potato pancakes. You also get rye bread and cole slaw. Great food. Great value. Nice little family-run establishment. read more
