Been going to the Range Line in for a while now when I visit my folks and it never disappoints. The service is great from front of the house to busers to waitresses. 5 stars. Food : we tried the fried egg plant strips and they came out very crispy , not greasy , and piping hot. They were served with Mariana and were really good. We split the chicken Parmesan and fried shrimp, sorry no photos but you won't be disappointed. The shrimps are gigantic and you 6 or 7 of them. The chicken Parmesan was golden crispy brown and just as good as everything else. We didn't have dessert , but maybe next time. 5 star!! read more

Cannot believe this place is still open. Steak came out with what seemed like bean paste in the middle. Talked to a chef friend he said it was probably frozen twice and had started breaking down. Solid food, classic atmosphere, and reasonably priced. Came in on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was quiet with that classic supper club steak house feel. We were immediately served a basket of a variety of warm dinner rolls. Our waitress took our drink order and we debated on our dinner choices. Service was a little slow/not super attentive but she was very friendly. I ordered the halibut special, my husband had the petite filet (10oz) and my father in law the grouper sandwich. Each dinner plate comes with a potato of choice & side salad. Sandwiches come with your choice of potato. The crispy onions that come with the steak are delicious! First off the food is always great. Great steaks, great shredded onion rings, on friday they have a great haddock fish fry. Wonderful ice cream drinks for after dinner. Many dessert options - last night they had door county cherry pie, key lime pie, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, apple pie and a few other desserts but can't remember them all. Building is old but well kept and always clean! Servers are great and very friendly! I have been here many times - sometimes with a meetup group and sometimes with family but always have a wonderful dinner and dessert or ice cream drinks! We were invited to Range Line Inn by some close friends while visiting Mequon from Chicago, and wow, was it great! The ambiance is cozy and comfortable. We sat in the bar and were taken care of by a terrific server who made our evening delightful. She was attentive, efficient and funny! The drinks were properly prepared and quickly served, and the food was outstanding. We had a bit of everything, including shrimp, fish, beef and more. I ordered a full order of ribs and it was so small (I wondered if they made a mistake ). in addition, it was over $40 ( outrageous but I remembered how delicious they were so ,,,)unfortunately the recipe has changed and was not crispy and flavorful as I recalled but salty and boring. The chicken dumpling soup was excellent as were the rolls. Sadly, that will not bring me back. I gave it 3 stars because of service and soup. read more

Very disappointed for the 3rd time. Rolls were dry & hard. When I put the butter on it the roll broke away like a cracker. Good for croutons only!!! Chicken soup USED to have dumplings, now it's bag noodles with salt water. Not tasty at all. Service was fair & that's a compliment. She never asked if we wanted another cocktail, which they usually push on you . Never was asked if we wanted coffee just asked about dessert. The crème brûlée was generous but cold!!! It should be served warm. The place was not busy so there truly was no excuse for bad service. I had the perch with potato pancakes, and she had the baked cod. Both were delicious. The highlight of our meal was the popover dinner rolls which were served warm. Never again! Reservation made based on other reviews and brought my family in for large birthday celebration. After seated and long wait, server comes to take order, but we never received menus! Finally served food but steaks and fish all overcooked and absolutely no flavor. Salt all around only solution, ugh, as now no time to send back with kids getting antsy. Received the expected enormous bill, but paying for such a lousy meal painful. So many other nearby restaurants with exceptional food and half the price. We absolutely love this place, especially the Range Line burger. Their cheese rolls & chicken dumpling soup are just a couple more things we love. The servers are all very nice but that owner, she is the rudest. She told me that I didn't order my burger correctly. What! I asked for medium, the server said that will be a little pink. Yep, that's what medium is but that's not what I got. I got a well done burger without even a hint of pink. It was also missing the caramelized onions that I asked for when ordering. She told me that I always return my burger because it's not done to order. It has been a couple times but when you've been going there for over 10 years for that burger that doesn't seem like always to me. And if she knows how I like it done because I always return it, then shouldn't it come out correct the first time. I would think so. She should not be in this business. What a pleasant surprise! This old school supper club is now part of our rotation! We were on a road trip and intended to eat elsewhere. Due to a traffic back-up, our intended destination would be closed when we got there. We Yelped and found the Range Line Inn. We thought it looked interesting so we went. The service was personable, the history of the building is fascinating and the meal was spectacular. The Caesar salad with blackened salmon was mouthwatering, and the homemade cherry pie dessert was scrumptious! If you want a trendy atmosphere and food, this place is not for you. My only complaint is that there was a loud couple near us and we could hear there entire conversation. But that is no fault of the Range Line. I highly recommend this place if you like a good home Cooked meal and Spotted Cow on tap! read more

Who knew there was a traditional, historic supper-club-style restaurant just 20 mins from downtown Milwaukee? We went on a Friday afternoon to celebrate my husband's birthday, and were not disappointed. The building is over 100 years old, and has been many things over the years, currently holding as a very cozy, mid-range priced, high quality restaurant. I ordered the baked halibut (succulent and buttery) with potato pancakes (they were crispy and perfect) and my husband had the New York strip (perfectly grilled). The pile of onion strings on the steak was a nice touch, but maybe a tad too salty? I don't salt my plate though, so it could just be my taste buds. Even the sautéed veggies were great. I also had the clam chowder, filled with clam, slathered on hot fresh chewy yeasty rolls that I dunked. One thing of note - the average age here was about 68 years old. Granted, it was 5pm on a Friday, but I imagine that's the norm any day. There was even an unfortunate incident that day where an elderly lady fell from her chair and an ambulance had to come...we were in the back room, and didn't witness it, but I'm guessing that's probably not abnormal either! I actually liked being the young 'uns in there...made it feel like a hidden gem, which it is! The service was great. All around, we enjoyed this hidden little spot for a great meal. read more

This is what an old supper club should be. Get past the old decor it's part of the charm; including the Taft for President poster. Had the eggplant parm and it was sliced super thin - delicious. Visiting from Michigan. Should have read more of the reviews. PSA: you can not go in and just sit down, seems to be you must have a reservation for this restaurant. We sat ourselves on the bar side, there were no signs saying to wait for hostess or wait to be seated. Someone came over shortly after and asked for our names for the reservation, I looked at her and said "I am sorry. I didn't know a reservation was needed." She the proceeded to say it's fine, but this table is booked at 6pm, it was almost 5pm. We definitely felt very out of place. The service was ok, but not terrific. Our food took longer than I would have thought with the table being reserved after us. The restaurant has a very old feel to it.l, not a bad thing. Our food was good, but still very costly for the amount of food we received. Felt very out of place here and just wanted to eat our dinner and go. read more

We have not been here in years. It was such a treat! The food was as wonderful as I remembered. Fried chicken with mashed potatoes and I ordered the walleye almondine which was beautifully done. The roll basket had a variety of breads and muffins. When you go leave room for dessert: Creme brulee, key lime pie and strawberry schaum torte. Yum! Yes, it's just ok! I've dined here multiple times over the years & have never been blown away by the cuisine. I dig the supper club vibe & want to like their food. But, kinda hard to dazzle me with Sysco's frozen fare. I was recently in the area & snapped a few pictures of the Sysco frozen food truck making a delivery. I passed by 45 minutes later to see the same truck still unloading. I could head down the street to Culver's if I wanted previously frozen food from the big truck. Fresh ingredients make for a better meal & overall experience. read more

I left 1 star only because I couldn't leave zero. The only good thing I can say is our waitress was awesome. The owner/manager is extremely rude. It seems she like to overbook her reservation or at least books them too close together. In all my years of eating out, I have never been told we shouldn't/couldn't order something because of our "allotted" time. Like I said the waitress was awesome and we were able to get the BBQ chicken. To be honest, for what they charge, the food is mediocre at best. In my opinion you will do much better eating someplace else. read more
