Had a wonderful birthday meal at the Farnstead. I love this place. Beautiful old historic building, incredible staff, one of the owners is a stunning woman that works really hard. Not sure about the other woman owner because im not sure i have ever met her. The New York strip steak was absolutely wonderful and done to perfection and covered in blue cheese crumbles. The hand cut fries - awesome. The banana chocolate chip cake was incredible as was the chocolate mousse. I didn't try the key lime pie - hopefully next time. It was my birthday and i was in the mood for cake! No they don't take reservations. Yes its absolutely worth the wait. I have OFTEN told people the BEST STEAK in southeast Wisconsin is at the Farmstead. If you don't believe me, go try it, and you'll become a believer! We were sad to be informed that they were out of the bread appetizer, so we ordered the Farm Bites. Warm, chewy bread topped with ground beef & pickle-simple but delicious! For my entree I chose the Top Sirloin with the Farmstead Favorite Topping. Everything was cooked well & had lots of flavor. A friend treated me to this restaurant for my 60th birthday. It was an amazing treat. We had the catfish -- a culinary delight! It was delicious and prepared in a very unusual way. I was extremely pleased and so satisfied that I couldn't even order dessert on my birthday!!! The staff was amazing and very accommodating to our service dogs -- both of whom are small and returned to handle medical issues. Nobody harassed us or even gave us a second look. THANK YOU! So we came here for Valentines day getaway weekend and came across this steakhouse.... they had a 3.5hr wait but it was soooooo worth it! We started the 3rd pg of the waiting list and im so happy we waited. They had a nice waiting system going so once I put my name down the host gave me her business card said to call back in an hour to see how long the wait would be. So we went on our way did some shopping had a small snack from wine tasting.... We came back to the place when they said we have an hour wait and got a spot by the bar. She was very nice drinks were good...finally our time came up and boy oh boy were we ready to eat! We ordered the string onions they were good and the sauce was amazing. The bread was delicious and the butter was on point! I order the sirloin steak and got a medium... I should have gotten a medium well but that didnt stop me from eating it with the special glazed secret garlic sauce that the own makes was it to die for. The highlight of The Farmstead is the flame grill visible from the bar run by an amazing chef. She wears a Red Sox hat often. If your steak is not perfect she will fix it. There is no dining location anywhere that looks as different, and better, inside than outside. Oscar is a great way to have steak at The Farmstead. The bartenders and servers are also wonderful. I've been coming here for 40 years. I went to school with the Gillespies and they ended up buying this farmhouse horse stale from the 1880 era and converting it. When you pull up to the location, you're kind of underwhelmed that it's an old house with some kind of warehouse opposite in the parking lot. Once you walk in, the old farmhouse charm kicks in and so does the smiles along with great service! The food was so fresh and tasty. This was evident with how fast the restaurant filled up. We got there 40 minutes before open and there were people waiting with us for the restaurant to open at 3pm. My steak was cooked to perfection and my wife's chicken so tender. The veggies were fresh and crunchy enough. Garlic mashed potatoes were sooooo amazingly delicious and were as yummy as I read about. This place was amaze balls. Very unique and old building (similar to an English pub. Decor is interesting but isn't the focus. I was looking for a supper club since we were in WI. I stumbled upon Farmstead. We started at the bar, waiting for the rest of our party. When we got seated, the service was nice, and there was plenty of options on the menu. We started with bread and Haystack onion rings- I like how thin they made it. Everything is reasonably priced for the big portions. The Seven Layer Salad was heavy on the dressing, but it was fresh. I asked the waitress how the Veggie Patch Chicken was and she said, "I really like it, so if you like vegetables." I wish she explained the flavors or how it's prepared bc that response wasn't helpful, but I went ahead and got it. It was just okay- I appreciate that it was healthy and light, but it needed more seasoning. My bf enjoyed his Binkleman NY Strip and White Chili Soup- I tried both and those had good seasoning. The atmosphere is rustic yet elegant, with farming tools scattered across the walls to give it an exciting flare but with lights dim enough to bring about a romantic energy. I arrived at the farmstead at 3:55 pm, 5 minutes before open, and there was already a line gathering at the door. Although I would prefer if you could make a reservation at the restaurant, groups seemed to be seated rather quickly. I ordered two tenderloin steaks covered in a garlic sauce and mushrooms, accompanied by green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. A hearty meal that can compete with any supper club. What a lovely gem in Cedarburg! I absolutely love coming here for a delicious dinner. First you should know, that they don't take any reservations, so if you're going on a Friday or Saturday night get there early! I've been there around 5:15 on Saturday and had to wait about an hour and a half for a table. I put my name in and head out shopping while I wait. You can wait at the bar, but it is pretty small and packed. If you get a seat, it's a great spot to wait! Again, get there early! The inside is super intimate, cute, cozy and rustic. The waitstaff has always been very prompt, kind and knowledgeable making it a wonderful experience. I've had the filet and it was cooked to perfection! I also tried the coconut chicken with the garlic mashed potatoes with baked french onion soup and I really enjoyed it! I highly recommend trying the Farmstead! read more

The house is absolutely adorable on the inside. We had a bit of a wait on a warm Saturday night but the hostess gave us the most charming history of the house (no spoilers here!) so we hardly noticed the time passing. Come for the supper club fare - the steaks, the seven-layer salad like your G'ma made it, the perfect Old Fashion. Even though the restaurant was busy, the service was excellent and very even, and you could still hold a normal conversation. The Farmstead is definitely worth the wait. We've been coming to the Farmstead for the better part of 20 years. Have never once been disappointed. It's one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the whole United States. I haven't lived in the area for 15 years so I only get back occasionally now but it's always on the itinerary when we are back in town. Farm bites are literally the best appetizer I've ever had. I've eaten in many of the best restaurants in the United States on business travels and would choose the Farmstead over most of them. Service is always attentive if not fawning and the food is spectacular and quite reasonably priced for what it is. You will not be disappointed in a visit to the Farmstead. The restaurant doesn't have a sign on it so you'll have to look for the wagon wheels. The rustic look was awesome and it gave a homey dining experience for us. All the food is cooked with love. We dined at Farmstead & the 30 min Friday night wait was so worth it. As we walked into the restaurant, Kat, the beautiful owner greeted us warmly. The ambience when you walk in and when we were sitting at our wooden table & chairs felt so homey. When our table was ready, Tara, our very sweet server welcomed us, introduced herself & told usthe specials. Very impressive. We ordered the Farm Bites to start & the Filet sliders were delicious. Next, caesar salad was excellent, one of the best abd I make my own Caesar dressing from scratch. We then had the best ever 1/2 lb Bluegill fish filets, with delectable garlic mash potatoes, coleslaw & the softest marble rye bread & butter. We also had a hot great tasting French bread served with garlic chive butter. The 2020 Three finger Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon was perfect. All the way from Chicago - this restaurant is a MUST TRY! My boyfriend and I were exploring Wisconsin and drove a little further out of Milwaukee and ended up here. It was a Saturday night and the place was beyond packed. There was an hour wait, but the hostess tried her best to get us a table in time. She even gave us a few suggestions for places around town to pass the time. It was our first time here, and when we were finally seated, the waitress took her time to go over the menu and the specials with us. We ordered the Haystack, which is basically a mountain of onion rings. It wasn't too oily and it came with a mouthwatering dipping sauce. We devoured the entire thing and asked for more dipping sauce twice. For the main courses, my boyfriend had the Farmbuger and I had the Rosemary Chicken. The chicken came with the soup or salad option, so I had it with the mushroom soup. The soup was heavy, creamy and delicious. The burger was grilled to perfection and had a smokey taste; the chicken was by far my favorite part of Wisconsin. It came with a creamy and nutty honey mustard and parmesan cheese sauce. I had it with the rice and I think that made the entire thing come together perfectly. The service was excellent for a busy Saturday night and the atmosphere was just so relaxing. Coming from a big city, I love spending time in little towns and this place came through all the way.
