Pitch's is an old-school supper club serving classic Italian dishes plus a nice assortment of meat and seafood options. There's also a full service bar, which makes great dirty martinis. The atmosphere is casual with a rather vintage decor, keeping the focus on the food. We ordered the Fried Calamari and Mozarella Marinara for starters. The Calamari was nicely breaded and crispy, and the mozarella pieces were large, lightly breaded, soft, and gooey. For dinner, we ordered the Deep Fried Shrimp, which was a little rubbery, and the Pork Chops Calabrese, which was very tender and flavorful. The side salad was made of a mixture of greens, the coleslaw was nice and crunchy but was lacking in tang, and the hashbrowns were good but very crunchy. Our waitress was friendly and enjoyed joking around with us, but she was a little slow and seemed distracted. Still, our food came out hot and overall timely. read more

I've walked past Pitch's so many times and it took way longer than it should have to stop in. This place has the classic Wisconsin supper club feel that is hard to replicate if you're not in the Northwoods. Every waiter is wearing a tie, and the waitresses are always super sweet and polite. Very classic looking bar in the front right when you stop in. I have never had to wait for a table, but I do usually come with reservations. Each time I come in I always get the chicken marsala, and I am happy to say it is my favorite in Milwaukee. The sauce is flavorful, plentiful and fresh, with loads of mushrooms and paired with a pasta side and bread. Can't go wrong with that! The drinks are very good, but sometimes it is hard to get another. I've had to ask for a refill just about each time I've gotten empty, when I would really expect the server to be more than happy to run to the bar and help me run up a healthy tab. Otherwise, no complaints. Given that their technical name does include ribs, I am happy to report that My friend stands behind them being the best he's had in Milwaukee. The more I go to Pitch's, the more I appreciate how few of these old school places are left, and what gems they are. I've found that your best bet is a steak or a chop - they do them very well and at a reasonable price. IMO their red sauce is way too sweet but I'm definitely not judging what's worked for them all these years. The mister digs the ribs and all of their fish options. If you want to have a great night, post up at the lovely bar and chat with the regulars and bartender. Ritchie makes a great old fashioned and will make you feel at home. Most nights, you'll see the owner Pete checking in and making sure everything is running smoothly. Don't get me wrong - this isn't cutting edge cuisine or craft cocktails. It's a place that's a throwback to Milwaukee's past and I always look forward to my next visit. read more

So The decor in pitch's supper club looks very nice and the restaurant is very quiet and the table and the staff are very nice. and I got onion rings and they were very good and salty. I've walked by this restaurant many times and it always smelled good. My parents said they used to enjoy the ribs here decades ago so we finally stopped in on a Wednesday evening. There was no nostalgia for me like many of the other reviewers, I found the place very outdated and somewhat disorganized. One table was not set and being used for organizing various items. Our Order: 1) onion rings - 6/10 highlight of the meal. These were thinly cut and seemed to be hand breaded. 2) Sicilian steak - 5/10 the first time I've had this style and it was pleasant. Slightly undercooked for medium rare. 3) filet - 1/10 extremely undercooked and had a metallic flavor. We did not eat this after the first 2 bites. 4) ribs - 3/10 very disappointed after reading all the reviews about the ribs that they were as bad as they were. Very rubbery without much flavor. Have had much better ribs from charcoal grill or any other chain restaurant. One hopeful note is that we overheard the hostess say they recently lost 2 cooks. We were looking for a unique Milwaukee local establishment and this was a hit. Excellent food and and laid back atmosphere. It seems like Pitch's has its regulars and it was nice to get treated like them even though we were from outside of Milwaukee. We sat at the bar and ordered some great apps and got a history lesson from the staff. These people know there stuff with a little edge. Can't go without mentioning the amazing lit glass ceiling in the bar. As cool a spot as it gets. A real throw back. I just don't know where to begin. In the midst of COVID19 this was one of the best customer service and one of the best dining experiences that I've ever had. Yes, yes I was on my couch watching Hulu. And yumming out loud to myself. I even started to couch dance. What's couch dancing, you ask? Well, it's a lot like car dancing with a change of venue and less risk of speeding tickets. The one really bad thing---and kids it's big. Would you believe that I lived two blocks away for nearly ten years and never once ate at Pitch's. I have missed out on so much deliciousness. And I'm so disappointed in myself. I'm committed to rectifying my past. Customer service here is phenomenal. This is a family business, I met dad, son and daughter. They all introduced themselves by name, were really gracious and accommodating. I get a lot of carry out. Me and my couch are basically going steady. Pitch's packages their food for carry out better than any other restaurant that I've ever seen. Everything traveled perfectly and when I got home I had everything that I needed, even wet naps to clean my hands and face just like mom did in the 80's. Jimmy, the son, even placed all of my items into a box and carried it out to my car! I also got a loaf of fresh, warm and soft housemate raisin bread and a bag of Sciortino's cookies. They have a bunch of delicious carry out sort of add on options. Honey, I can't say no to fresh baked bread. No way! Okay. The food. OMG. Pitch's has different specials each day. On Sundays it's a baked chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, veggies and a small side of cranberry sauce. You also get a choice of soup or salad and fresh bread and butter. Everything was incredible! Tasty, homey, comfort food! Even the cranberries were super good! This baked chicken fell straight off of the bone! Boom! Pitch's is the sort of place I really want to love and support. It's been open over 75 years and provides an old-school supper-club-like experience in the heart of Milwaukee, just a few blocks off Brady Street. I've been coming here for 25 years and, for the most part, enjoying it. Service was very good on our recent visit. Our server was friendly and provided some good advice. Prices are reasonable--you can get a generous ribs-and-fish-fry combo on Friday nights for around $20. The food is generally good, but not what I'd consider outstanding. Pitch's fish fry, a Milwaukee staple, is great. The ribs can be of somewhat variable quality, which is odd for a place known for its ribs. On my last visit, the ribs were tasty but a little tough--none were very tender, and I had trouble getting some off the bone. The primary reason I'd have difficulty recommending Pitch's to my friends is that there's a difference between old-school and just old, and Pitch's might tip to the wrong side of that line. In my opinion, the time has come for Pitch's to update the place, just a bit. I don't want Pitch's to lose the friendly retro ambiance, but the brightly-lit dining room with acoustic ceiling tile, 1980s era stained-glass and brass fixtures, and fake plants feels a bit like a dining room at a senior facility. And, given the average age when I visited on a Friday night, that might not be too far from the truth. On a Friday night, the place was more than half empty and there were few folks under 50 dining. I'd like to see Pitch's make it another decade or two, but I'm not sure it offers the sort of experience today's diners want. (And the fact that I mentioned I went to Pitch's to two people who responded with, "Is that place still open?!?" only reinforces this problem.) Maybe it will be welcoming guests for decades to come, but it feels like a place biding its time rather than a spot that wants to keep what made it great while evolving for another generation. read more

We were quickly greeted and offered a great table even though some of us were a little lit up following the Yelp Octoberfest extravaganza. I thought they would hide us in the back corner Lol. The first thing you will notice is the seats are heavenly padded. The meals were delicious. Top quality service and great meals. The bar had sports on TV. area was pretty busy for a Saturday night. We've been going to Pitch's for at least ten years now. (First 'review'). One of the reasons we really like Pitch's is that the restaurant atmosphere has an old style, dinner club, cozy feel to it and it is a family owned and ran establishment. The menu is an eclectic combination of traditional American cuisine, BBQ and some Italian food, speaking of which, my favorite dish on the menu is Chicken Calabrese, after which is the Chicken Marsala. Soups are excellent but the salads are average; small plate greens with cherry tomato and a slice of red onion. When I don't get the soup (of the day), I get the very consistently good cole slaw, home-made and perfect. Other menu favorites: Tenderloin Steak, grilled shrimp, Ramaki (appetizer) and their famous (family recipe) hash browns that are outstanding. Service is always consistently friendly and efficient. The bar serves good drinks at a fair price, too. read more

Maybe it was a bad night in the kitchen, but one of us ended up with not one, but two crumpled betting slips in our salad. Just balled up and dressed with the other ingredients. My steak was still really tasty, but it looked like they half assed the grilling. It was gray. The temperature was correct. And I'm pretty sure my mushrooms for my steak were just microwaved. The time before my husband had the salmon and it came out practically raw. Maybe they're having kitchen issues.. We heard other diners complaining about food coming out cold, the sauce on the ribs being just ketchup, and other complaints that make it seem like maybe the kitchen isn't happy. read more

If you've ever read a review of mine ever, chances are that you're familiar with the fact that I absolutely adore + laud the fact that MKE is rife (RIFE!) with establishments that embody this concept. Quality food/service/product + fabulously devoid of any/all attention to "what's hip, trendy, new, or popular," + still popular with blue hairs, hipsters, yuppies, and everyone in between? That's a great equalizer, folks. It's not about anything save for about them doing it right. And that's Pitch's in a nutshell, really. Sure... it feels like 1982, but who cares when you're rockin' their pan-fried lake perch? And honestly... I'm not sure how they do it, but they make a mean old-fashioned without the help of any fancy-pants booze or bitters or mixes or anything. No molecular gastronomy, just green beans and fish, and no frozen non-ice cubes to not dillute really amazing bourbon or whatever. Cod and ribs and beer and cushy chairs and all the servers? They're still wearing white button downs and black bow ties. Is the food world-class? Nope, but it sure is solid. My boyfriend, his childhood friend and I randomly went to dinner last night at Pitch's. We were planning to eat somewhere else but the wait was too long. After walking past, said friend (who just moved to Milwaukee) said "What's this place?!". We both had never been so we decided to pop in. The minute we started walking up the short stairs towards the bar, the friend said "I think I need to have a martini with my dinner. This place is great." And I said, "I'm half expecting Don Draper to walk in". Anyway, there were a few older peeps sitting at the bar and the bartender asked if we were there for dinner. He walked us back to the dining area which like all of the reviewers have said, is very outdated and feels like you're in your grandparents house. It's pretty great. I honestly didn't observe a lot of the decor details but I'm sure there are some tacky and great things to be seen. You can tell this is a place that people come back to as regulars (dare I say OLDER people) maybe even multiple days a week. There was an older group of people at a table near us who got there before us and were still eating their meals as we left. It's a cozy kind of place that people feel welcome at. On to the menu. I'm vegetarian but do eat fish sometimes. To my delight they had a veggie burger but I didn't really get the feeling it would be good. I chose the Sicilian breaded fish sandwich with hash browns (our waitress insisted we all have the browns). The boys had the ribs and shrimp with side salads. Overall the food was okay but not the best thing ever. The fish on my sandwich was way too big for the bun so it ended up crumbling apart as I tried to eat it. The flavor was fine but it was just too messy. The browns were good and greasy, crisp on the edges but more soggy in the center. They enjoyed their ribs and shrimp. Our server was funny and nice, she had that "I've been working here forever attitude" which is sometimes just what you need. I think my meal was decently priced at around $10 but the ribs they got were $23 each plate which I thought was a bit pricey for a 1/4 rack of ribs and a few shrimp. But hey, I don't know what ribs will run ya these days either. I would go back but not very often. I might actually sit at the bar next time to grab a cocktail and take in the locals. I went in with a small group for the Friday fish fry.The service was decent, not great, but decent I think describes it adequately enough. The place was pretty busy but it was still early enough in the evening that it wasn't packed to the gills. The beer/wine list is good, not great, but good. The fish fry itself was a little disappointing. It was cod, which is good, but the breading left something to be desired. It was breaded not battered. The breading was thick and crispy, not always a bad thing, but it didn't work for me. I will probably be back for steak and/or barbeque, but I won't be for the fish fry. read more

Quite possibly the most friendly bar I've been to in Milwaukee. four or five people asked me my name and were really wanting to talk to me. my name was remembered by the lady bartender with rabbit ears on, told the specials that happen during the weekdays, i was complemented and hit on by old men, and served at the bar by a super friendly waitress. drinks were average. no powers. limited microbrew selection. not cheap, not expensive. meh. fish was wasn't the greatest. i don't think i'd get it again. i've decided that i don't like fish fry at italian style restaurants. i need the rye bread and potato pancakes to make it complete. but the atmosphere and friendly service and other folks at the bar were amazing and i'll try to go back. it'll be easier once the bridge is open again. read more

Twice a year, a group of us celebrate the removal of a friend's 2 ribs for medical reasons by going out for...ribs! Pitch's has been on our "try" list the last few outings and we finally managed to make it out last night. We all really dug the supper club atmosphere (think pleather seats, paper tabecloths, strong Old Fashioneds), and the fact that we could snag a table on a Tuesday without much fan fare or to do. Our table all got ribs. Two of us got a rib and chicken combo. All of our meals came with bread (lots of it - they kept refilling the basket like a proper supper club), soup or salad, and a choice of starches. I got the soup of the day, which was beef with cabbage. It was thin, but hearty, and came with big chunks of beef and cabbage in a delicious tomato broth. As for the entrees, the chicken was a letdown (tasted great, but dried out from overcooking and re-heating), but the ribs were excellent. The meat on the ribs was tender, but not fall off the bone - which is exactly how I like my ribs. Their sauce was bomb, and it was evident they've spent the last however many years perfecting it. One star off for C+ chicken. I wish I could give them a perfect score because the experience was overall wonderful and everything I would have expected, but the chicken was half my meal. Nevertheless, I'll be back to try more ribs and other things, and hopefully I can bump them up to a 5. read more

I had no idea. I had no idea that Pitch's was a full blown Wisco-tacular supper club. I had always heard how old-school this place was, but I was expecting a large bar area with a small dingy dining area in the back. Boy, was I wrong! Yes, the bar is right out of 1942, in the best way possible, but the dining area is huge! probably close to 50 or more tables with lots of room for wheelchairs and walkers. Recently renovated with new paint and carpet, this place is clean as a tack! Of course, because they cater mostly to the "older clientele", the feel of the dining room is already about 20 years outdated. But so what... One of my wife's requirements for consideration as a true supper club is that they must serve items on the menu ala "Oscar style". Check. Another is a great BOF ($6). Check. Of course, the waitstaff must be near to Social Security age: Check. And super friendly: Double check. For me, I insist that the seafood menu includes Perch as well as Walleye. Check and check! I had the walleye and absolutely loved it. My wife had a fillet and was very satisfied, especially for the price. All salad dressings are made in house and the veggies that came with my wife's diner tasted really fresh. Pitch's is an old-school neighborhood favorite with ties that run deep. A dedicated following and an accommodating staff ensure that this neighborhood gem will be around for many years to come (hopefully!) read more

Yep--just as others say, this is a classic supper club. I went there with two other couples after having just attended a showing of the documentary recently done on Wisconsin clubs. Fascinating story about them and I just had to go to an authentic one right here in MKE. Friday night fish fry with a old fashion. Yum. And the fish was pan fried perch! You'll experience that throwback period in time when you sit in the dining room and there is a big portrait of Ma on the wall--watching you eat. Tables are easily put together for large groups, if needed. The wait staff are very friendly--and I'm guessing that they've worked there a long, long time. Seems like a family staff. The food isn't amazing, but the atmosphere is classic and well worth the experience. We'll be back, for sure. read more

Husband, friends, and I were probably the youngest patrons in the place on a Lenten Friday at 7pm, but hey, that's okay by me. Decent Friday Fish Specials (and rib specials, for you non-Catholic heathens) with a variety of fried and baked fish options, as well as an array of sides from pasta to crispy hashbrowns. Friendly barkeep and waitress. Xerox machine by the bathrooms in case you need to make a copy. Bathroom/Valentine decor to make you feel like you're eating dinner at your Gran's (though Courtny Gerrish may knock a star for the inch of dust clinging to the bathroom ceiling). Husband was pretty excited about the Old-Fashioned's...and they were going down quickly, so they must have been good! ;) Overall, a good experience. Will I rush back? Recently visited with our son for barbecued ribs. It had been a long time since we've returned, and we're asking ourselves "why haven't we come here more?" They serve the best shredded onion rings: crispy, hot, and delicious. Our 12 year old son really enjoyed the ribs! He ordered the smaller portion size and it was just right, still a little more than he could eat, and he took a bit home. My husband enjoyed the Sicilian steak, which is beautifully breaded and was cooked exactly as he requested, medium-rare. I had the pork chop single, with the house barbecue sauce. It was cooked perfectly, very juicy and not overdone. Salads were a generous size, and sides were also delicious. We were too full to try the desserts, but they had several on the menu that looked very tempting. This place definitely has that old school supper club feel. Our server was very attentive. Imagine going over to your grandma's house for some fried perch and onion strings. That's pretty much like going to Pitch's except hugs are not an acceptable form of currency. Pitch get's 4 stars and here's why: The service is wonderful. Not once was I parched (not to be confused with perched) because the waitress was attentive and consistently refilling our water glasses. The food is delicious. As a corn-fed Nebraskan, fish frys are a new concept and something I was sheltered from the last 25 years. Wisconsin fish frys are a tradition and so when picking a spot, the organizer of our Friday dinner asked her social circle for a top recommendation. Pitch's it was. The Yelp reviews claimed "feels like 1982, rock'n pan fried perch" and "waitresses are SUPER nice". All caps speaks the truth. This place really is like a time warp. read more

I don't get why this place is getting such great reviews. Tried their ribs tonight which is supposedly one of their best dishes. The bbq sauce tasted and looked like ketchup. It was bizarre. Who does that? The ribs themselves weren't that great. Also had their pan fried perch. It came out sopping wet on a bed of lettuce. It tasted sour and was inedible. The fried eggplant is bland beyond belief and the marinara they serve with it tastes like it came out of the cheapest can they could find. When I lived on the East Side Pitchs was a place you would find me on a Tuesday night. Their wings are great, and they avoid the crazy crowd of beer bonging bros to get em. They were served with a bowl of sour cream that was topped with fresh bleu crumbles. I am not a sour cream girl, but my buddy liked that twist. We always sit at the bar, so I cannot comment on the table service. We were big fans of Anette, and always were sure to come in on the days she was working. The fried eggplant is awesome, anything that you can do to turn something ordinarily healthy into a grease soaked deliciousness....I'm there. The beer selection is a little lacking, but they have Supper Club, which I usually lean towards. They're full of regulars, most of whom are friendly and welcoming. I've tried a few entrees, and the only one I would flat out NOT recommend is the veggie burger. It didn't hold its shape, and the bartender admitted it was microwaved out of a frozen box, because it was rarely ordered.
