Went to Oggie's for their Girl Dinner on Thursday night and sat at the bar. When we arrived th place was pretty empty, it did fill in later. Select martinis were a deal. I got a Lemon Drop which was good! The bartender was very nice. For the girl dinner it was a side of fries and ceasar salad. Both plates were full, the fries were tasty and nicely seasoned. The ceasar salad was alright it had an interesting taste assuming from dressing. Overall great deals and just okay food. read more

I went there for the first time on a Saturday evening had a reservation for 3 to celebrate a birthday. We ordered the flatbread and the calamari for appetizers and had around drinks. The flatbread was lackluster nobody enjoyed it. The calamari was good but very heavily breaded. My sister and I both had different soups that were good: tomatoes bisque and a french onion. We both ordered the walleye entree. Mine was fishy and the vegetables barely warm. It was very expensive and a real disappointment. It's one of my favorite fish and it was clearly not fresh. This is my third time here, first time since they revamped the menus a few months ago. We ordered mainly apps and split a salad. On Mondays wine bottles are half off so figured why not! Our server helped us pick a bottle since my one friend doesn't drink wine that much and I don't mind a semi-sweet/hint of dry but she needs fully sweet and I wasn't familiar with the wine offerings. It was a good. The cheese curds and the ranch was the star of the show. I wish the pigs in a blanket weren't so doughy the pastry really takes over the bite! The flatbread was good but the mozzarella was not melted at all almost like it was added after being in the oven and tasted that way as well (when I had leftovers of it and reheated in my toaster oven it was perfect! With the melted mozzarella) the southwest salad is spicy!! Good but man did that have an unexpected kick! Asparagus salad looked good to me but then I didn't really notice any asparagus. Mainly stalks that were cut into 2 inch pieces and grilled. Maybe i was expected a few spears across the top of the salad. The salmon i added was pan seared perfectly with well-balanced amount of pink. It was a good salad for my lunch. I also asked about the soup of the day: Asparagus soup. I guess Asparagus is in season. The restaurant is part of The Metro boutique hotel. The outer facade is quite lovely. read more

Popped in for brunch on a Sunday around 10 am with 3 friends and was seated right away. After that though everything was pretty mediocre. Asked a few questions about the menu and our server said she had to check and was gone for quite some time. She seemed a little scattered and was taking longer than normal to do simple tasks, like take our drink order. Only at the end of the meal did she tell us it was her first day, which made a lot of sense, and wished she had told us at the beginning of our meal. They were out of a few items so couldn't make the items on their menu the way they were advertised which was disappointing. Also the serving sizes were a bit small for what they cost. The food tasted good, but I'm not sure that was enough to get me to go back there again, especially with all the other brunch options available in Milwaukee. And no shade to our server! I came here on a Wednesday night, and it was very quiet (just how I like it). I was with a small group, and we all enjoyed everything ordered. One person ordered a drink that had a chicken nugget with it! I had to take a picture to show everyone how cute it was. All we could think about was where they stored these chicken nuggets behind the bar for the drink. We started with the pigs in the blanket, which were delicious. You can't go wrong with that! For an entree, I got the fish tacos, which were good. The fish could have been warmer, and I could tell it had been slightly overcooked but still pretty good. Date of visit: February 25, 2024 We stopped here after picking up a friend from the airport and he wanted some brunch. I appreciated being able to make a reservation, there's nothing worse than being hungry and having to wait for a table! His flight ended up getting in early so we were quite early for our 11 a.m. reservation. I was happy to wait but the hostess was able to find us a table though she was not at all interested in the reason for us being so early. Her loss! Our waitress was very sweet--she reminded me of Amanda Seyfried, actually--and came over to take our order promptly. The menu didn't mention any coffee drinks so I went with the Sunrise Smoothie--which was quite awful. It was not at all sweet and I struggled to finish it. But for $8 you better believe I was going to choke that sucker down! Of course after getting the smoothie I saw that there was a small sign behind the bar that listed a couple coffee drinks including a Brown Sugar Latte, which sounds amazing. Sad face! My main entree was the Caramel Apple French Toast and it was quite good, but was too small for the price. $15 for two pieces without a side of any kind was disappointing. Three pieces would have been the perfect amount, or two pieces and some protein. My dining companions enjoyed their food though my husband's fruit was no good. He tried a piece of cantaloupe and I tried a piece of pineapple and both were not great which probably explains the poor smoothie. read more

It's close to the Hop M line so it was easy to get to. It's in the Hotel Metro so look for the hotel cuz you would miss it. The coffee is ok. The waitstaff while lovely and innocent was a bit clueless. Service was adequate but asking for cream for coffee or extra butter took reminders. I had the two egg breakfast. Cooked well but avoid the potatoes. Covered in some spice mixture that got overwhelming about halfway through. During my visit most patrons were not eating them. That said, they did several things right, including gluten-free options, I was told the cheese curds were fantastic, and my gluten-free fish tacos were good. They apologized and then after a long wait, they brought out another dish that was also not chicken wings and they apologize again. From the time we sat down to our entrée was one hour 40 minutes. My fish tacos were good but they were ice cold. I ate them anyway because at that point I was so hungry. I just wanted to eat anything. During our stay at the Pfister, we needed a dinner spot, so we chose Oggie's. I chose Oggie's due to their prices and healthier selections. I started a diet in November 2024, so my food choices have been narrowed down to what a picky 4 year old wants to eat, only its all healthy. I had the Cobb Salad and the wife had the Romesco Pasta. We both added grilled chicken for a protein. The greens were fresh and it was nicely presented. I enjoyed the homemade ranch dressing they offered. The wife enjoyed her pasta as well. We enjoyed our anniversary dinner here, we have had it in the past and everything has been delicious! I think Oggie's is a great place for a simple, delicious meals. There are enough options to not feel overwhelmed and everything is chef created. We enjoyed some delicious burrata with some pesto and toast for an appetizer, and some steak for dinner. I thought the steak itself was great but a little over salted for my taste. The potatoes and asparagus were delicious though! We got two desserts, a cinnamon Bundt cake and lime tart, both very good! Though it was Saturday night, it wasn't too busy, seemed to be mostly hotel guests dining. The restaurant is nicely separated from the hotel lobby and a great place to get a good meal. This place is so good!! When we walked in, we were the ONLY people in there. Which was a little unnerving I'm not going to lie; but, we were pleasantly surprised. Everything we had was fantastic. It's generally easy to grab a reservation making it an awesome option for pre-show dinner or drinks. Service was fine! Not too speedy or overly friendly but not anything terrible either. The menu is diverse enough that picky or eclectic eaters will find something they like! We split the burrata appetizer as our table of 4. I had the fish entree which was very average. A few people at our table ordered burgers and really liked them. I have to say I had order regret! Oggies is attached to a hotel, so it's had a relaxed but modern vibe. The total area is surprisingly small, but it wasn't that busy so we were seated right away. The service was pretty fast. We had got steak frites, which my husband loved but I felt like the steak was slightly overcooked. I also think if you're getting steak it's probably better to go to an actual steakhouse. The fries were perfect though! Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We shared the broccoli on the side and it was cooked well and had a nice kick of heat to it! Would definitely recommend getting that. We also tried both desserts and they were just okay. Oggie's Kitchen and Bar is a local gem that somehow I've been sleeping on the last few years with it just around the corner from my office. I wandered over there with a co worker for happy hour one day, as they were the only one open before 4 nearby. And their cocktail menu and snacks were AMAZING. I have a deep love of their toasted Manhattan, and their garlic bread. I had another happy hour there with friends after work, and all of their drinks and food were so good. The prices during happy hour are great, but service tends to be slower there. I'm not sure if it is a post covid issue or what causes it, but the prices and quality of food and drinks makes it worth it! read more

I was with a large party approximately 10-12 people and felt like this place was il equip to handle such large amount of people. The garlic bread is supposed to be a signature dish for them, but they are not able to manage the stock. When some of the people in the group asked about what was taking so long for the food to arrive, I was told the server became somewhat snappy. Oggie's is located in the Hotel Metro. A friend and I came for dinner on 4/1/22 prior to going to the Symphony. This was our first time at Oggie's. I liked the décor and the whole mood of the place. I will say that the person who was seating people didn't come off as very friendly, but we only had to deal with them once. Their wine is very high priced by the glass - at least IMHO - so I decided to get a mixed drink (not anything on the menu). It was made very well, and when I ordered a repeat, it was made exactly the same way, so kudos to the bar staff, and thank you very much. (I'm not a fan of your olives, but that's a personal preference thing, so...) We decided to split the one special of the day, a fresh oysters appetizer for $18 (six oysters). That's about the right price for oysters served this way vs. at a place that does them in bulk. The oysters were very fresh and cleanly shucked. They were served with a large lemon wedge and a little cup of vinegar and onions (we didn't use that). I like my oysters with lemon, but my dining companion likes a little heat, and she got our server to bring a bottle of Tabasco. We both chose the walleye dinner ($27, I think), and it was wonderful. I haven't put a picture on Yelp in a long time but I took one last night because, Dang!, that fish was pretty. It was a generous portion, and so beautifully dressed without being overwhelmed by the spices and sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly - meaty and tender. We split the lemon tart for dessert. They don't have a dessert menu - even a tiny one would be nice - so you don't know what you're getting charged in advance. (I think it was $10.) It had a very nice flavor. I'll admit I like more "tart" in anything lemon, but this was very good. Our server was fine, although at one point my dining companion tried to flag him down and she said he looked at her, then looked away. We weren't sure if he actually saw her. No problem! I recently tried Oggie's for carry-out on a recommendation. I tried the Cailiflower Croquettes and the Oklahoma Onion Burger with house-made chips, house pickled-veggies, and house-made dips amd sauces. The onion burger is made with gruyere cheese, crispy shallots, fresh romaine, and a house onion dip. The patty was perfectly cooked to medium, and the potato bun was lightly toasted and buttered. There was a tad too much salt in the shallots or the dip, but this was one of the best burgers I've had in town, and I'd get it again in a heartbeat! The chips were also perfect for my taste. Usually, house-made chips are bitter and visually unappealing from being overcooked and cooked in overused oil. These were thin, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. They were served with a house ranch dip that I tasted a hint of citrus in. I don't like cauliflower unless it's roasted, but now I like cauliflower in croquette form, too! The croquettes are filled with a cauliflower puree and SarVecchio parmesan, and served with a tarragon dressing. So good with a nicely seasoned batter and light crunch! I would eat all of this again, but I want to explore more menu items, so I'll change it up next time. They also launched a Happy Hour with half-priced glasses of wine, if that is your jam. read more

Honestly, I was pretty disappointed. We came in for Sunday brunch with a reservation. We were seated and not acknowledged for at least 15 minutes - no menus or waters were provided. I ended up having to ask for a menu. The service was a bit of a mess all morning - there was only one server, so you really can't fault her at all, the place should have been properly staffed. Our server was clearly doing her best and hustling, but drinks took forever and we had been sitting for a solid 30 minutes before our order was even taken. A couple tables around us had forgotten or messed up drinks, no coffee refills were offered. It was a bit odd since there was also a bartender there that could have helped the server lighten the load a bit. Our food eventually came out and was pretty good - my eggs were a bit cold, but otherwise everything was delicious. My boyfriend had the fruity pebble French toast and loved it. Overall, the experience was ok. I don't know that I would come back though. Our server seemed overwhelmed so I wonder if someone walked out unexpectedly or there was an unexpected staffing issue. Made a reservation for 6 at 5:30 on a Sunday night. First impressions were good. The waitress seemed nice enough, the atmosphere was nice and because only a couple tables were occupied it was quiet. The cocktails arrived fairly quickly and were good. However, we waited over an hour for our food. Two tables who arrived after we ordered, got their food, ate, paid their bill and left before we received ours. We were told it was because the kitchen was short staffed and it's easier to serve smaller parties first. Really!?! The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great and the fish tacos were lukewarm at best. I will never be back, nor will I consider staying at the Hotel Metro in which it's housed. read more

Two chicken thighs came out steam rolled flat then fried unbreadded oiler than 1970's Arnold Schwarzenegger in a body building contest. Dang man. It's bad. If your thinking about pulling up, bypass it's that bad, trust me. The person across me ordered the pork schnitzel. I asked him how it was, he said it was so bland he thought he caught covid....
