Pros: -Very friendly servers. We've dined here multiple times, both as a foursome and as a couple. -Bartenders are great and really work to help you find a drink you'll like. They also have different specialty cocktails throughout the year. -Cheese curds...I know, it's Wisconsin, but these are right up there with the elite. Cons: -I'll let you know when I find some. We've been to Crafty Cow several times over the last year, probably four or five times, and we've always been impressed by how friendly the waitstaff and bar staff are. The owner is also very nice and clearly involved, which I think is cool. I almost always order the same thing: the chicken strip meal, which comes with three huge strips and a large side of fries. The chicken here is really interesting because it's marinated in pickle brine. You can definitely taste the brine, and it adds something you didn't even realize was missing. My wife used to order the same thing, but now she tries something different each time because she knows she can share my strips. Everything she has tried has been good. Also worth mentioning: they have really good ranch dressing. I was surprised when I looked up Crafty Cow on Yelp and saw that it had less than four stars. Looking at some of the older reviews, I'm guessing it may have had a bit of a rocky start. But based on our experiences, Crafty Cow has been consistently great, and we'll definitely keep coming back. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND Working with clients in Oconomowoc, I recently lunched at Crafty Cow Burgers & Fried Chicken; we had a terrific experience! The interior decor is very 'pub' like with expanses of dark wood and many art prints/framed works on the walls; there is a large bar in the front area with several tables/high-tops. In the back, the aesthetic is more 'industrial' with exposed brickwork and beams. We were greeted by the bartender (?) and seated immediately; our waitress brought us menus, reviewed the specials with us, and then brought our drinks. Crafty Cow specialises in 'craft' sodas and I enjoyed a very nice diet 'cola' drink with lemon; it was delicious. I ordered the chicken sandwich with the 'Nashville Hot' seasoning (because, hello, Nashville Hot) and it arrived piping hot with lots of shoe-string fries, also piping hot. The flavours were absolutely wonderful, full of contrast and balance. The 'heat' from the chicken was excellent; the chicken was plump and juicy, and had been perfectly breaded and fried. The slaw was also excellent: just the right balance of sweet and crunchy to offset the hot chicken. My clients and I enjoyed our visit to Crafty Cow Burgers & Fried Chicken and plan to return! First off, the burgers and beverages are awesome here. I've been to this location and the one in Wauwatosa and there's no noticeable quality difference. Everything is fresh and delicious. But, you pay a premium for that. We're talking up to a $23 burger with avocado and bacon. The drinks are average cost for the area. I do wish I had been warned about the 414 Fire sauce though; they have it listed as 2 out of 4 spice level, so I got a side of it, and it was inedible. It tasted like pure cayenne pepper and the server told me it's actually ghost pepper!! I was actively crying trying to eat it would not recommend. I can't even imagine the two levels above it. The service has been above average when we've gone, with staff being attentive and helpful. Worth checking out but avoid the Fire sauce! read more

I ordered the Elote Loaded Nachoes. They were by far the best nachos I've ever had. It's not the traditional plate you're used to. These tortilla chips (great on their own) are topped with cheese sauce, street corn and picled red onion, salsa roja, cilantro, with cotija sprinkled over it. I added Ground beef to my order and they weren't stingy with it. In fact the whole order goes beyond filling. You get quite the value for the price. I've found my new "go to" order. read more

First time at this location. I've found the other locations to be good, but not great. This one, however, was easily the best experience of all three. It's on a busy street with parking out front (and a public lot around the corner). There are patio tables in front, plus a large patio behind the building. Inside, the décor is casual and relaxed. We were seated right away. Our server did a great job getting us set up with waters, drinks, and menus. We took a while to place our order (we were lost in conversation), but the server was pleasant and patient throughout. We ended up ordering a couple of burgers: I got the OK Burger, and my friend the Fried Onion Burger. I also asked to have my smash patties cooked a bit longer for those crispy edges. While waiting for the burgers, we shared an order of Cheese Curds -- beer-battered white cheddar. They were just okay, nothing special, and could have been cooked a little longer. My OK Burger, on the other hand, was excellent, and cooked exactly as I asked, with crisp edges. The side salad was solid as well. The burger was a generous size, but I managed to finish it all. Met a friend in a Madison halfway in Oconomowoc and we landed on Crafty Cow as our dinner spot. It was my first time. Apparently they're known for their fried chicken sandwiches (brined in pickle juice), but their fish fry, and burger were also appetizing. Unfortunately there's not a lot of vegetable options, but their slaw is really light and relatively healthy. Our waiter was the highlight of our experience; we had some good conversations and vibes. It's a typical pub with some trendy elements (ie vegan options, thc drinks, etc). I plan to try one of their other locations closer to the city. We made a trip from Madison to Oconomowoc for my husband's birthday and it was an amazing experience!! Six adults and a toddler and the staff did an amazing job making us all feel welcome. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. My toddler was getting a little squirrelly so they offered him crayons to color with and then a couple of fidget toys from their toy basket. No one complained about us needing more time to order or all of the questions that we had. Super friendly staff and we never felt rushed to finish up our visit. There is way too much pepper on the burgers. You can't even taste beef. I like the sweet Savory thing you have going on but you have to have Savory with sweet potato fries. Absolutely blown away by the cheese curds at Crafty Cow, they were the best I've ever had. That's saying a lot as I'm a cheese curd fanatic. The Hot Honey dipping sauce was over the top. They are even better than Saz's State House. Our server, Ryan, took great care of us and he took the time to explain how these amazing cheese curds are made. Our food came and never got our cake pops before dinner which was the reason we came, we did end up getting the cake pops after dinner. The food was tasty and came out hot.
