Delicious lobster Mac and cheese

NcX live music
Rohan D.

Great live band, NcX or something like that. Pop rock cover band that made me not realize I waited over two hours for my food order. It never came so I left hungry and I don't think they even noticed. Over two hours for a club sandwich. By the way, it wasn't racism, there were lots of White customers who never got served. When I first came in (a relatively younger man), I saw a table get served some bar food. Over the next half hour, I saw lots of people put in orders but for the next 2 hours plus, not a single crumb of food came out of the kitchen. Very strange. They kept telling me and others "your order will be right out," but after a couple hours I wasn't the first to walk out and I probably wasn't the last. What an odd business model, give customers a menu but never serve them food. I suggest next time NCX plays here, bring a bag lunch.

During nice weather you can grab a seat outside and look over the water. They even provide pontoon rides during the warmer months (great way to enjoy a drink while you wait for your table). In the last several years they have gone through some significant renovations, especially with the outside seating areas. There is the restaurant on the first floor, and an event space on the second floor. Made 6:30 reservations for Wednesday for 4, and got right in. Had a table by the large windows that look for the patio and lake. Very pretty spot. Got greeted immediately by our server, who did a great job the entire evening. (thanks Laura). Got us water, took our drink order, along with an order for Onion Rings. The onion rings didn't take long, and they were excellent. Crispy with an interesting texture, hot, and served with a side of ranch (could have used more of that). The drinks were good, with the exception of one glass of a beer flight which was super flat, and was happily replaced by the server. For entrees we got: BLT, Blacked Fish Tacos (with extra bacon), Pesto Encrusted Salmon, and Salmon Power Salad. A note about the Pesto "Encrusted" Salmon. It's not really "encrusted", more like a scoop of pesto placed on top of the Salmon, and they finished under a broiler? Good but not what was expected. Didn't take that long for the food to arrive. It was all very good. The tacos were fresh, great flavor and hot. The fries that came with it, were NOT as not as I would like. Both grilled salmon entrees were also very good. The Power Bowl was excellent, with lots of fresh greens and other yummy add ins (goat cheese, blueberries, etc) A very good evening, with the exception of a couple of small hiccups.

Real candles, classic blues and jazz music, plus lots of antique flair oozing historic vibes. A retro phone booth for the server station: nice! Next, service: Brooke is the server who now sets the standard in my mind for her excellent tableside manner! She was on the ball and then some, with a fun personality and friendly demeanor, making sure we enjoyed our night out. I loved the menus, both food and drinks. I tried a Citrine martini and it was ice cold with fresh lemon -- yum. My dining companion had a seasonal tap brew and the perch fish fry; he ate every bite! I had to try the shrimp and grits. It's not something you see on the menu every day in Wisconsin, but I have a love for it from trips down South... And they nailed it. Fragrant with garlic and generously portioned, it had a brothy, exquisite base. It makes my mouth water to recall! We will return for some of the other delicious items on the menu. Thanks for a great evening!

Started out with the jumbo shrimp cocktail. Very fresh, and the cocktail sauce was tangy with a citrus undertone. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection, and the glaze only added to them. Plenty of beautiful side dishes, omelet station, and other tasty dishes, complimented them! Bottomless mimosas on the house! If you had room, which I didn't, the pastry assortment was outstanding. The staff were very cordial and accommodating.

We went on a Thursday night and still needed to wait 40 minutes for a table. I didn't expect that since this place is a bit off the main corridor. I had been here several times, but my last visit was probably 8-10 years ago. I always forget about it since, like I said, it's off the Hales Corners corridor of Hwy 100, and a little too far east on Janesville Rd from main Muskego corridor. The place hasn't changed a bit on the inside. Still a semi-formal interior with plenty of seating in both the dining room and bar area. It can be a little loud when full, and having a conversation with my husband was quite difficult. That's a pretty typical experience in these older buildings though. Just something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quiet dinner location. I ordered salmon, my husband ordered a steak. We both had soup as a starter along with a relish tray and bread - both of which seem to be unlimited. I thought my salmon was cooked perfectly, though my mashed potatoes were watery tasting. My husband thought the same of his steak and potatoes. Not the worst thing in the world, but mashed potatoes are not hard to do properly so I was a little disappointed in that. Would I come here again? Probably. Our two dinners were more than $80 before tip, so it was an expensive night out. It's not a place we would add to our normal rotation, but it's a decent special occasion spot.
