The Steakout - Milwaukee, WI If you're headed to Milwaukee, The Steakout is an absolute must. I eat steak at least once a week, both at home and at restaurants. At home, I know exactly what my family and I like. Ordering steak out is always a bit of a gamble. My husband usually avoids it because 1) we (well I) make great steak at home and 2) every other business meeting seems to happen at a steakhouse. The Steakout is the exception. This place was a solid 10/10 from start to finish. The Atlantic Salmon was an absolute masterpiece. Yes...even in the Midwest. Sushi-grade salmon, perfectly seared on the outside with a buttery medium-rare center. We almost ordered the walleye because, well, Wisconsin. Instead, we took a chance and were rewarded big time. Paired with a bright lemon aioli and served over a rich butter broth, every bite made us look at each other and say, "Okay...this was the right decision." Aside from finding a couple fish bones (because fish are, in fact, made of fish and bones), this dish was outstanding. Now let's talk Prime Rib. Prime rib and I have a complicated relationship. I see it on a menu and immediately think, "this is the one." Then about half the time I spend the rest of dinner wishing I'd ordered something else, like a trusty ribeye or NY Strip. Not here. The Steakout absolutely nailed it. Perfectly medium rare, juicy, flavorful, with a fantastic au jus, beautifully seared asparagus, and just the right thickness. Honestly, I don't know what they could've done better. I couldn't make anything up even if I tried! The French Onion Soup was another winner. Rich, cheesy, and exactly what you hope for when you order French onion soup. And because it's a true Midwest supper club, dinner started with a warm bread basket and a classic relish tray loaded with fresh vegetables, pickles, and olives. Honestly, I wish every restaurant still did this. Bring back relish trays! Of course, no great steak dinner ends without dessert. Even though we were absolutely stuffed, we ordered the tiramisu to go. "To go" lasted approximately five minutes. By the time we waddled to the car looking like Violet after her Willy Wonka blueberry fiasco, that tiramisu didn't stand a chance. Thankfully, we headed straight to Milwaukee's Summerfest afterward to walk off at least a few of the calories. Zero regrets. For the quality of food, the portions, and the overall experience, The Steakout is incredibly reasonably priced. If you're anywhere near Milwaukee, do yourself a favor and put this one at the top of your list. read more

I've driven past the Steakout more times than I can count but have never had the opportunity to eat here until recently. We made a last minute reservation but am so glad we did because this place got busy quick! We arrived a little earlier than our reservation so we sat at the quaint bar (the layout reminded me of a "Cheers" episode) and enjoyed a glass of wine until we were called to be seated, promptly at exactly when our reservation was for. The bartender was friendly and helpful in suggesting a selection of wine too. I ordered a petite filet but I think it would've been helpful to have the weights of the other two filets listed on the menu as well. My steak was cooked as requested. Clearly this is a local favorite and heavily supported. Reservations are recommended for sure. read more

We enjoyed a very good meal on a very busy day of the year.... Fathers Day. Reservations were running behind by the time our 5:30 slot came and went. but we were seated by 6 PM and the waitstaff hustled and hurried and handled everything very professionally. Our 7 oz Filet with hash browns and salad plus the Broiled Seafood Trio with French onion soup and baked potato were wonderfully prepared. I kind of missed the extras of sour cream for my potato and tartar sauce for my broiled fish, but our waitress never came to check on us after our entrees were placed before us. Just a small oversight and it did not detract from the good meals that we both enjoyed. The Steakout is a much appreciated restaurant and cocktail bar in our neighborhood. It had been a few years since I was to The Steakout, but I found myself there this Friday evening. The decor was exactly how I remembered it. We got there early and were directed to the bar while we waited. The wine and cocktail menu was nothing to right home about. I was shocked that a steakhouse doesn't have a larger spirits selection. Behind the bar sat 3 extremely basic bourbons. Some scotch as well but dare I say, "yawn." Our table was ready on time and we had an extremely patient, welcoming server. On this night, we both ordered the 7oz filet. I dare to say mine was barely 4oz precook. By the time it showed up I thought I was hit with a shrink ray. They charge a 3% credit card processing fee even on gift certificates. For a restaurant this expensive, they can afford those fees themselves. I know plenty of independent small businesses that don't charge the 3%. read more

We came here on Christmas Eve for dinner. I had booked a reservation online back in November for the five of us. We arrived early and were seated pretty quickly which was great. This place was hustling and bustling. I ordered an old fashioned and the cocktails were also had at our table, all good. My grandma was impressed with the relish tray and the bread was delicious. Our table ordered a variety of items from lemon chicken, spaghetti, silician steak, New York strip and the seafood combo. All were delicious. My only food complaint was the pasta that came with the lemon chicken. It wasn't great and I think mashed potatoes would have been a better side. Also, the table was quite cramped. It was a table with an end against the wall. Me being against the wall on the side for three people, had very little room. Plenty of room though for the side of the table with two people. The old woman who is an owner is the absolute meanest person i've met in my life. She made my daughter cry and feel very anxious while trying to enjoy our first and LAST time visiting. Every other person who works there is very very sweet especially the man owner and a young woman server I had named Amira. They are all super nice and helpful & would recommend IF that one lady didn't own this place. She needs a reality check and an attitude fix pronto! A suggestion would be to have the chicken cut thinner for the chicken Parmesan and add more seasoning to the side veggie of green beans - very bland. Wow. What a great meal. The Steakout did not disappoint. This place is a well oiled machine. The staff is super attentive and don't stop moving. The drinks are a solid pour and the food is just fantastic. Perfectly cooked to temperature and well seasoned. We started with the Garlic Cheese Focaccia Bread then went into soup & salad. For entrees, I had the bone-in rib eye and my husband had the fan favorite filet. Charred on the outside, pink on the inside. Kiss the chef! They were both perfect. For sides, we both got hash browns--one plain, one with cheese and onions. The hash browns weren't crispy but were so flavorful. A little salt & pepper made them perfect. As an add-on, we got the charred shrimp. The shrimp itself was delicious. The cocktail sauce was the only thing I found lacking. A little too pedestrian for our taste. It really tasted like ketchup with a whisper of horseradish. It needed about 10x more. That said, I'd get it again but ask for drawn butter. We closed out with a Grasshopper. So refreshing. Here at The Steakout, it isn't served with a chocolate or chocolate syrup. Unbeknownst to me, our waitress heard me say how missed the chocolate and suddenly appeared with a little cup of chocolate to pour over the drink. So awesome. I have been going to for a very long time. I've always enjoyed my meals there. Wonderful great but my last three visits not so much horrible my I asked for it to be medium or was burnt. It was so tough could not enjoy it pork chops you could bounce those off the floor. They were so hard. I don't know if they changed their where they buy their meats from cook behind the counter grilling just overdid but three times in a row all three times my regular guy who cooks back was not the owner there was somebody younger back there all three times my food came back very overwhelm done even others in my party that night said they don't know if they would come back for the prices and the quality of food. We recently enjoyed Steakout twice. The first time was for prime rib for our anniversary. The food, service, and ambiance were outstanding. Baked cod on the menu brought us back. Although the cod was tasteless the rest of our food and once again the service was outstanding. We hope to come back again for the prime rib. read more

My cousins were sooo excited about this supper club. The vibe was classic and it was super busy. Our server was so nice and very speedy. For as busy as the place was, it seemed like she was able to check on us several times. She was on top of it! The food... Oh, I wanted so bad to like my food, but maybe I'm pickier at this point in my life? My food came to me cold - like other reviews mentioned. I don't know what it is. Maybe because I had different seafoods on the plate? Hmmm... Everything tasted OK, but again, cold. I had seafood and my partner had steak. He also felt sorta meh about it. The service was fantastic! Our host, who also happened to be our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The three stars come because the food was average. We had the deviled eggs, which were good but similar to any backyard barbecue deviled eggs and the cheesy focaccia bread. The ladder was more like cheese on top of a middle of the road tasting focaccia. Next game the wedge salad which was the highlight of the evening and that is sad considering and then had a $60 piece of meat that was cooked perfectly but lacked flavor. Lastly, the atmosphere was okay. Whoever there photographer was should be hired because they made it look intimate and romantic- which it's not. Went in at out alotted reservation time, the whole serving team was just standing at the bar host area , and they all just stared at us the whole time as we spoke with the hostess, was very uncomfortable!! We were seated and our server greeted us! Nice young lady! Went over specials and then we browsed the menu! Made our choices ! I had filet mingon it was amazing w/ baked potato and a side salad! Husband had the prime rib and loved it, daughter had NY strip and enjoyed it as well! The staff here are pretty unprofessional. The next table over the waitress was actually arguing with a customer over a complaint. They have probably the WORST onion soup I have ever had It was basically brown water with some onions floating around. It was lacking the melted cheese that all other restaurants serve. There was maybe two tablespoons of shredded cheese on top of some floating croutons. The food doesn't not warrant the price here. This is our favorite steak place in all of Milwaukee area. The prices are way better than others, and the steaks are so good! Love the live music on the weekends. Drinks are always good and strong. I'll start by saying I never take the time to leave reviews. I will also preface this with the fact our family has been going here for 35+ years, needless to say I have gone in here 40+ times myself. Tonight was epically terrible. We sat at the bar, and recognizing it was busy asked if we could order food whenever a sever had time to come over. After having to ask 3 times and over a 45+ minute period we finally got a waitress that had a poor attitude. We all ordered and it seemed clear what we ordered. The chicken sandwich came out with a single small piece of chicken, granted I have had this sandwich 15+ times and there is always 2 pieces and it is generous size. Also the bun was terrible and chicken overcooked. The pork chop sandwich that was ordered medium was extra done, super dry and hard to chew. We had ordered sides of parm peppercorn to go with our wedges, only for it to be delivered with no dressing and 3 forks slapped on the bar with no napkins or knives. So we asked, and received sides of ranch. Also asked for napkins and knives, may have even asked for the dressing we had ordered and paid for but never saw the waitress again .... Took two times of asking different folks to even get the napkins and knives after watching the server walk by a few times. After telling the bar we would like to leave they had to track her down, she took a plate without even asking leaving the person that wanted to eat their pickle confused. And left the bill and despite putting the card their right away she walked away with once again a poor attitude. So the bar who normally doesn't handle the food bill had to take it over by her. We are slowly making our way through the Wisconsin Supper Club map! The Stakeout did not disappoint. You will need to make a reservation. The last seating is at 9:00 p.m. The place was packed even at 8:15 p.m. We were the only people wearing masks and felt a little bit like we were a zoo exhibit, but hey, it's Wisconsin, where covid is some liberal conspiracy to take away your "rights". It was evident that the majority of people in the restaurant were regulars and knew each other's names. We arrived early for our reservation and sat at one of the small tables in the bar area. We did have trouble getting a drink at the bar. I suspect because it was so busy, however the hostess that checked us in finally came over and took a drink order for us. While we sat and waited for our table, we listened to Mr Al White at the keyboard! We were seated in the dining area within the bar. There is a separate dining area with Open Flame grilling of your steaks. Our waitress was very pleasant and very efficient. I had a great filet and my husband had pan-fried walleye. We also had a good Wisconsin Brandy old-fashioned. The meal with three drinks was a little over $80. We will be back again sometime. The French onion soup was on point, packaged nicely, and super delicious! We also had prime rib, perfect texture, temperature, and perfect flavor! Decent steaks, but the atmosphere could use a refresh. I love old supper clubs but not old and dingy.

Writing this review is frustrating because I want to give all the stars, but I can't. Hubs and I came here to celebrate my birthday. He made reservations and told the person on the phone why we were dining there. I ordered the Surf and Turf, which is a filet, and your choice of a 5 or 10 oz. lobster tail. I chose the 10 oz. It came with my choice of soup or salad (I chose soup...chicken noodle was available that evening), and my pick of sides. I chose a baked potato and added cheese and bacon for an upcharge of $3. The restaurant provides a small bread tray and a small relish tray. As I unwrapped my silverware, I noticed there was dried food stuck to my salad fork and butter knife. Not needing either, I placed them near the table's edge for the server to pick up. Strike 1. Our meals came and I cut into my filet with the provided steak knife. It was a perfect medium rare....the right amount of pink, and juicy and tender. The lobster tail was huge! It was easy to cut into nice chunks for dipping in the melted butter. Both were very delicious. The soup had the largest noodles I have ever seen in a chicken noodle soup, and I enjoyed them very much. The flavor was also perfect. My baked potato, however, was overcooked. The edges around the skin were that weird bland/dried out flavor/texture combo. Although not the star of the show, as an accompaniment, it should have been better. Also, what? I'm going to send back a potato? Um, no. I took it home and ate the rest of the insides the next day. Strike 2. Shortly after we arrived, a table behind us had a birthday. I didn't see what was going on, but I did hear them sing "Happy Birthday", so I knew what to expect. When we had finished our meal, our server started clearing our places (and finally grabbed the dirty silverware), then asked us if we wanted any dessert. We both just kind of looked at each other and politely answered no. Strike 3. Should we have said something about the silverware or the birthday? Uh....gray area there. The server should have seen the silverware and at the very least questioned it. Like I said, I didn't need it, but to let it sit there was kind of weird. The birthday bit? Well, it was mentioned at the time of making the reservation. Was it not written down? Forgotten? Where's that shrugging shoulders emoji? Anyway, it made for a somewhat weird night. 3 strikes and you're NOT out, Steakout, but it will be awhile before we return. Solid old school steakhouse with classic supper club vibe and warm, welcoming, friendly hospitality. Loved everything; especially including the atmosphere. They've been around for something like 36 years and have a really cool patina about the space. Was in for lunch, so to avoid expense account prices but learned you could order off the supper menu if you asked and I might do that here again soon. They're that good. It's been a tick since I've seen spiced apple rings!! Loved it. So where's the duchess potatoes? lol Prime rib was excellent given I've thrown some really good money at some not so good ones in the last many months elsewhere.
