Started off on the wrong foot because they don't have water options other than having to buy a plastic bottle. No glasses available even for tap water. I don't like single use plastic containers. Not difficult to just give someone a glass or cup of water. He offered to fill cups with tap water, but we had to go to the car and even provide our own cups. Music at our table was so loud that it was disturbing and noise pollution. If you want to hear it in the kitchen, then put the speaker there, don't blast it from the dining room. Shoutout to BOSS! Got the Philly steak sub with some fries. And it's very important to note he didn't mess it up... plus he asked do I wanna make it spicy? Yes.. yes I do. I think it is very easy to mess up a Philly steak by overcooking the beef because it's a shaved ribeye gyro type of meat. The French fries had good crunch and appreciate that they were seasoned... if I'm being picky (personal preference here) I like my subs more Dearborn Michigan style where it gets out on a sandwich press and the outside gets crispy but that said the bun held up well didn't fall apart I got zero complaints. This is the best hummus chicken schwarma I have ever eaten in my life. Omg omg. There's a big menu. Please choose the middle eastern. Thought I was getting a sandwich but this warm and comforting bowl of explosive flavor arrived. There was the experience of smooth creamy garbanzo beans, accompanied by bright lemon, pungent garlic, a bit of hotness from chilis perhaps? The chicken was chopped and bundled on top. Olive oil unctuous dressed the surface. Now - the pita bread - wait for it - 2 pieces - sliced in half- warm, fresh, fluffy and you just tear it open and dig into all that amazing hummus and chicken. There is nothing like this in Milwaukee you simply must try this. GOAT. Clean, spare dining area. Love the rosemary plants on the tables and middle eastern music playing softly. Had lunch here today. We got there right when it opened. The man behind the counter was super nice and very inviting! He didn't rush us at all and was kind to my wild 2 year old. I got the crispy spicy chicken sandwich and my husband a plate. My son got chicken nuggets, perfect for the kids who are picky. My chicken sandwich was simple and very good. I would get it again! I was looking for something quicker during lunch on a work day and saw this place on Yelp. The Grill Shack is a smaller place in a strip mall. I believe it replaced Factory Ice Cream. I actually walked past Grill Shack at first. The menu is a unique combination of middle eastern and American and includes fries and pizza. The combos are $2 more for fries and a 12oz soda can. The sandwiches are around $8-$10. I can only speak for the one item I had, the Cajun chicken, but it was better than maybe grilled chickens for $16 I've had at a restaurant. The decor and set up is somewhat odd. There's a thin row of tables that led to the back. This is great for work lunch. Not great for groups or a date or impressing the in laws. read more

This has been a book mark for a while and since it has so little reviews or pictures I thought that a Steve stop by was in order so I went over for lunch. The place is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. The menu is interesting because it has pizzas, sandwiches and Middle Eastern food so I went with the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. My sandwich came fast because I was the only person in the place. My first thought was that it didn't look right with the reddish hue to it for a Philly cheesesteak. My second thought after my first bite was that the bread was all wrong because it had a very chewy crust and soft inside that required extra bite effort which squeezed most of the meat right out of the sandwich, the melted cheese on the bottom only helped everything sliding out. The sandwich had a weird flavor like giardinera and it was very oily like maybe it's cooked in giardinera oil and it had melted American cheese in it, give us a cheese choice because it didn't work very well in the sandwich. This was the weirdest Philly cheesesteak sandwich that I have had and it didn't satisfy my crave for a Philly cheesesteak at all and I would never order it again and get something different. read more

This place is such a hidden gem! I hope more people find out about it. The owner is one of the nicest and most caring people I've ever met. They always go above and beyond. I have had multiple items off this menu and each one is incredible. The gyro comes in a wrap style and you can get it spicy. The chicken and beef schwarma wraps are insanely good. My only disappointment is that I was not aware they were here sooner. I was on my way to the hardware store next-door and just happened to see the sign and stopped in shortly before they closed. Unfortunately, they were sold out of falafel so that is on my shortlist for my next run but the baba ganoush is absolutely one of the best I have ever had. The kebabs were extremely flavorful and tender and were served with a tasty garlic sauce and another spicy sauce that I missed the name of that were a perfect accent. Loved this place! All I can say is, I did not have time to take a picture because we ate so fast and didn't stop! We had a cheeseburger, Philly cheese steak sandwich, and fries and they were all phenomenal. Both buns for the sandwiches were fresh, fluffy, and soft. The seasoning on both sandwiches were perfection. And the fries? Wow. They were so perfectly made that they both melt in your mouth and crunch at the same time. This is a review I gave Grill Shack last year. It still stands. "We wanted a unique and tasty food option for our daughter's graduation party. The Grill Shack's food was delicious. The schwarma (both beef and chicken) were amazing. The humus is the best in the Greater Milwaukee area. The salads are so fresh! The owner is very friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favor and try this incredible restaurant." I want to add a postscript that the middle eastern food options for the southern suburbs of Milwaukee are getting very competitive. My family loves this cuisine, so we try all the places. Grill Shack is my personal favorite and I recommend it to anyone. By far, the Grill Shack owner is the nicest person you'll ever want to meet. Also, I am not kidding about the hummus. You won't find better anywhere in the Greater Milwaukee area. I keep thinking I'll try the Philly Cheesesteak because I have heard great things about it. But, then I'd have to pass on the falafal, kabobs, schwarma or salads. I just cannot bring myself to do it. They are just so good. Honestly, the pizza, burgers, and other options are not why I go to Grill Shack. I guess we should have known better when the clerk at the Jerusalem Market a few doors down would only go as far as to say this place was "okay." When we walked in both employees were at a table eating and watching TV. We figured they'd put on facemasks before returning to work to help us. But no. Which is the second point when we should have bailed out. We ordered a chicken shawarma (based on the clerk's tepid recommendation) and a falafel shawarma, then sat down to wait for the to-go order. Even though there were no other orders, it took about 15 minutes for these two guys to prepare two wraps. When we got home and sat down to eat, we discovered they'd y used all that time to cook the sh*t out of the falafel, rendering it elidable. Lesson learned, at the cost of $14-odd plus a $2 tip in advance. read more

I was looking for a quick bite to eat and the sign in the window for Philly Cheese Steaks caught my eye. I lived and worked in the Philly suburbs for 16 years in the 80's and 90's and consumed a fair amount of original Philly Steak sandwiches. I take every opportunity to put claims of "Philly Cheese Steaks" to the test. I ordered the Cheese Steak and fries at the counter and sat at a table in the shop that resembles an old fashioned diner. I did not have to wait long to enjoy what Is the closest I have found to a South Philly Steak sandwich from Pat's or Geno's. The bread is the closest to what I remember getting in Philly. I was surprised, however, that the cheese was not Cheez Whiz or Provolone, but Mozzarella. My opinion was not changed - this is one of the best Cheese Steak Sandwiches I have had outside of Philly. The owner came out to greet me and we had a nice chat. He's from New York City and Northern Jersey. He knows what he's talking about. I suggest if you are taking out, bring your own container as the only negative of my experience is the Styrofoam take out boxes. As business improves, the owner assured me that the take out boxes will be more eco-friendly. read more
