Prior to an out of state move, I had them pack up three large neon signs. The signs had some intricate corners and generally required careful packing to be moved a great distance. The Box Zone packed them into individual boxes, where they stayed for about two years until they were ready to be unpacked and wall mounted. Each one was in pristine shape. I stopped by for a box set (2 bedroom) and the guy servicing the temporary desk in the back was efficient, professional and friendly. It was busy. He wore a mask and the desk was set up so you stayed outside, and he brought the boxes to you - contactless sales transaction. Other customers practiced social distancing so it was a breeze. He even brought the boxes to my car which was awesome. The only complaint I have is their tape (for the boxes) isn't the best; it causes time consuming annoying problems like sticking to the roll; and not being strong enough to really hold the box together like other tape I've had used in the past. But all in all, I highly recommend. Easy peasy! So much easier and safer these days than hitting up CL for used moving boxes. read more

Called in to see if they had a certain product, I showed up 30 minutes later, I give the worker a nod and he knows what I want without even asking, points me to go to the back to load up the car easier, I drive back there and the product is ready for pickup, I hand him my card and he runs it and I get the receipt. The original quote for boxing and shipping was pretty high, but they made some adjustments and were able to still pack the items safely, but in a smaller box that brought the shipping costs down significantly. Many different sizes are in stock in store but they can also order in specific sizes. One constructive feedback item: They have a catalog of their boxes available on their website which is awesome. But I wish the catalog would have a star or footnote to denote the boxes that are usually available and in stock in store. I know I can call, but it would be a handy tool to know which are in store, which I can get in 1 say and if any take longer. Overall, this store is a great resource. I have been going to this location over 10 years. I used to live around the corner and actively sold stuff on eBay, so this store was a tremendous source for sellers. I have referred a few friends and they have continued to go to this store for their needs. Although staff has changed over the years, the young men take pride in their job, are very knowledgeable and patient. The vast amount of products they offer for packing, moving, and even crafting are unsurpassed. The shipping prices are very reasonable as far as reasonable shipping prices can be. I had a friend compare prices to her corporate discounted account and the costs were within cents of each other. So I felt good knowing I wasn't being overcharged. This place really saved my behind. Needed 3 large wooden paintings shipped for a client. Around 50 inches long and an inch thick. Heavy too, at about 25 pounds a piece. The client stressed that the paintings were very valuable and that he wanted them packed professionally. I wanted to get this done with the least amount of hassle and obviously money as possible. I tasked my brother with this since he was home from college and lounging around at home. He called Box City in Pasadena since it was much closer to my house, and since they helped ship a speaker for me before and did a great job, I thought the paintings wouldn't be an issue. The first quote he got over the phone was around $80 which was more than reasonable. Something must have gotten lost in translation because when he actually drove over with the paintings in hand, the quote jumped to $340 and change. More than a three time jump... I wasn't happy so I shopped around. I call the Box Zone and Dan, I believe his name was, gave me a $50-70 quote. I explained my situation with Box City and he said they were not affiliated. He sounded frustrated with me as I was repeating myself trying to drive the point home that I did not want another episode of driving and wasting time. It was also a Saturday and I understand the pain of working on the weekends. He sounded knowledgeable so I trusted him and brought my paintings in the following day, a Sunday. Came in around noon on a Sunday and working there was a young man with long hair. This was not Dan. He was friendly and thankfully they were not busy and their parking was great. I parked in reverse right outside their store and the man was kind enough to take the paintings out of my car without me even asking. He confirmed Dan's quote and charged me around $70. He told me that he would try to finish the packaging that day and it would be ready by the next day. He also slipped in that the paintings would be "no problem" and that he had packaged things much bigger and heavier than what I brought in which was a huge relief. The next day, Dan called me to tell me the packaging was finished and I shipped the paintings out with my FedEx account number at my job. It's been a couple weeks and I have not heard from the recipient of the paintings nor the client so I can only assume everything went charmingly. No good news is good news. Even though I've closed my retail store and moved my online operation to another city, I still drive back to Orange to get my boxes. I found this place looking for moving boxes. They had an incredible selection of containers large and small. The staff that worked there were very helpful (but understaffed at the time I was there). Only thing keeping me from giving this place a perfect review was that there wasn't any type of shopping carts to place your items while shopping. It's a small area, so I understand. I've come to realize that packaging and shipping things is a true art. And a real pain in the ass. I had a situation where I had to ship, overnight, to NY, a package that was too big for regular shipping, so it had to be flown in ... I mean really it was quite the task. I couldn't get the piece into my car, or a truck for that matter. So I called the box zone and they came and picked it up in their HUGE truck, took it back, wrapped it, shipped it, and it was done. Sure, it may be costly. But desperate times call for desperate measures. I've had other recent situations where I just had a bizarre size box I needed, and these guys always seem to have something that will accommodate it. This post is in response to the Jeff G post. We are his parents and did attempt to ship some items there. We are appalled at the completely false post by the owner of the box store. The correct version is that we went in on a Saturday expecting to ship several items. They were too busy to provide a quote and asked that we leave the items, they would package them, and provide us a quote when we returned on Monday. When my wife went back on Monday, thee items were only bubble wrapped and still no quote prepared. While She waited for a quote, it became very obvious to her how disorganized they were and how unprofessional they behaved. She called me and said she did not feel comfortable with them shipping these items at any cost and asked me to pick them up on my way home. I find the owners comments in his response to my sons review offensive. I am not naive about the cost of shipping. I came to The Box Zone to get some boxes to pack up some things in my office to move. I was shocked at how large of a selection of boxes the store has. They have numerous "office filing" box options in addition to storage and moving boxes. The staff was friendly and helpful in finding the right size boxes for me. As for pricing, it is kind of expensive for an empty box, but in-line with anywhere else you buy boxes (i.e. U-Haul, FedEx Office etc.) I also saw someone trying to ship a guitar. So it is obvious they help you ship odd size things. Overall, I recommend this place if you need boxes. read more
