It has been a while since I have made a review but eating at St Augustine Fish House & Oyster Company with out of town guests was a complete embarrassment. I know with the shortages everyone is experiencing I should be more patient but this was absolutely embarrassing. It took almost 45 minutes to get a drink and then an additional 40 minutes to get our appetizer. Food was good, I would rate it a solid 3.5 stars but service was less than 1 star. I was eaten ALIVE by mosquitos sitting out on the deck but what pushed me to the edge is we were there for our out of town siblings anniversary, gave the band $20 to play their "song" and waited 2 hours and they never played it!!!!! Again, another embarrassment. If you look at my other reviews (I am an elite reviewer) I am not hyper sensitive and usually give outstanding reviews. When we were leaving, and I told the "new" GM about our experience he said he was sorry, he was new and would buy us a dessert. Too late! I had my purse on my shoulder and was walking out the door. Maybe instead of walking around the restaurant try and help your team pour a glass of wine, if so the restaurant might make more money because I would have had time to purchase 2 or 3 glasses of wine instead of one because it took forever, read more

Nice place Nice people. Server made a mistake. You kinda feel when a server looks at you funny and decide not to serve you with excellence. So I had a funny feeling about this one and my feeling came to be true. No hard feelings but my food never got ordered. So yes it pissed me off. My wifes dinner was forgot to get ordered but she hers and still not mine in the horizon. So gor that I give them a 2 out of 10! I will try to come back again and give them another chance but for now. They suck for what they did to me. Hope it wasnt because Im hispanic. I dont think it was but its been happening too often. To prove I came to this place heres a pic of my wifes food. Apetizer was excellent! read more

Meh compared to their Beach Rd. Location. Service was great. Our server John was attentive and very sweet. Mimosas were good and you cant beat unlimited. Very pretty atmosphere. However our brunch was cold and overcooked. We did enjoy the Oysters Rockefeller though. Also the bathrooms could be cleaner. The dirty vents though gross. read more

There are plenty of great seafood places in town but this one is definitely worth your time! We made a reservation online for dinner here and were not disappointed. We started with the smoked fish dip which was delicious. Then we shared the fresh catch of the day dinner. We chose the trigger fish and shrimp blackened. That seasoning is amazing! So flavorful and tasty. The fish and shrimp were so fresh. We paired them with the collard greens and pimento cheese grits. All around fantastic meal! They're located in a cute spot with live music outside. If you do sit outside on a chilly night, they have a fire pit with free marshmallows to roast. read more

I've been wanting to try the food here for a while. I had been wanting some good seafood and read the reviews, which were very good. I finally went last night, sat at the bar, with a Bartender(female) that was not friendly at all, had NO personality, yet the other Bartender was nice and more attentive I ordered 1/2 dozen steamed Gulf Oysters. When they came to me, they didn't look the greatest, and the taste wasn't the best, glad I didn't order a dozen! For my dinner, I ordered Lightly Blackened Flounder and Shrimp, Collards, and sweet potato, which was Amazing!!! Within 2 hours of finishing my dinner, I developed a pain in my upper stomach, thought it was gas or indigestion, which I don't ever have. Then, had to run and throw up!!! 5 forceful vomits!!!! Sorry to be So Graphic, but I lost ALL OF MY DINNER, ALL $37.00 of it!!!! Which also to mention, I DO NOT GENERALLY SPEND THAT MUCH ON DINNER OUT!! But would have never thought I would have gotten Food Poisoning!!!! read more

Great meal. Good service. I went to a few fish places in this area, and this is a winner. Prices were reasonable (not cheap!). Staff knew the menu. Food came out well prepared. A few things are a bit heavy with white pepper, which one person in my group found too spicy. read more

A local resident recommended we eat here and we were glad we did. The food was great and the portions were good. Having options of fried, blackened or grilled was a bonus. The only issue we had was that one meal came out waaayy before the others (there was 8 in our party) so that was a bit awkward. The server was apologetic and explained it happened when he had to come back and ask a question about that entree when he was entering the order. Somehow that step caused that one plate to be on a separate order to the kitchen from all the others and since it was a single order, it came out sooner. Other than that, we were pleased with our meal and the service. We arrived around 5 pm on a Friday night and we were seated immediately. By the time we left, they were getting busy. Several people have commented on the lack of experience with the staff. We are from NC and recently visited Virginia. This is an issue that is plaguing restaurants everywhere. Not sure where all the experienced help has gone since early 2020 but nearly every business is seeing a constant rotation of new people and lack of experience. I am thankful for those that are choosing to show up to work and my sympathies are extended to owners and managers everywhere. This has to be a very frustrating time to be in business so I appreciate your persistence and drive to keep your businesses open and available. read more

Good food. I was so satisfied. Loved my alligator bites. Beer and glass frosty. That's all for now.

The food was outstanding... Bang bang shrimp melted in your mouth wonderful even my husband that's not a lover of seafood loved the shrimp and the crab cakes. We had 22 people in our group and everyone was extremely happy!! The key lime pie was to die for! PleSetry this place. You will not be sorry! Waitstaff and the manager treated us like we were royalty! Thank you!!!!!!! Debbie From the Jack Russell terrier club. read more

What a beautiful restaurant and it's a shame that the food and service weren't as lovely. Almost 40 minutes just to get acknowledgment by the wait staff. We could possibly understand if it were packed, but it wasn't even 1/4 full of patrons. After finally ordering appetizers and our main course, we waited again and only to receive charbroiled oysters that were cold. We asked for the manager, but we're told it would be some time because she was expo'ing orders because they were short in the kitchen. Trying to give the benefit of the doubt we continued with our wait for food....and we waited... finally receiving our food and what a even bigger disappointment. The manager delivers it and then doesn't even introduce herself knowing damn well we asked for the manager, but that was the least of our Issues. The food was cold again and saturated in oil and then there is the stuffed crab... it was the worst thing we got. We have never seen this in a stuffed crab and still don't know what it was and we got no explanation. $135.00 later and a conversation with the manager wherein her only responses were "ok and huh". I can assure you we will not go back there and we unfortunately can not and will not recommend this establishment. This was a last minute change to our plans and was the worst decision made. read more

We are in town for our sons wedding... So we thought we would wander around and see if we could find a nice place to eat... Surprise!!! When we arrived it looked magnificent, but looks can be deceiving. We were told it was a half hour wait time, which truly flew by thanks to A WONDERFUL LIVE PERFORMANCE!!!! My husband picked up a menu and started wandering. We loved everything we were looking at! But how does it taste? Not only did it mean our expectations, it superseded them! Everything was fresh in seasoned just right! The price points were incredible! The portions were HUGE!!! Most important to us, was the incredible service that we were offered... We actually made reservations for 15 people for today! Can't wait! A special thanks to our server Aydan and his magnificent manager! She was great! read more

All my life I've considered fish off the menu but this place has turned that around for me. Last week I ordered sword fish and alligator bites from St Augustine Fish House and was very impressed. They might get 4 stars if it were just up to the drinks, their mixed drink knowledge is limited, their pours are definitely more than plentiful. The food boosts my review up to 5-stars for sure. Every meal comes with a few hush puppies, but the sauce they serve with the appetizer hush puppies is hard to pass up! read more

Our first visit was on Christmas Eve and we were not disappointed. We were a bit early for our reservations but were still able to be seated right away. The service and atmosphere were perfect. Nothing beats this atmosphere! We went for brunch on Easter Sunday and sat outside, had a great view, and enjoyed live music. We loved this place when it was Creekside. Everyone was so friendly and went out of their way to help you. Now it seems like everyone is bothered when you ask questions. The food was very bland and uninspired. My youngest got the kids grilled cheese and didn't care for it at all. How do you mess up grilled cheese? The tortillas for the deconstructed tacos were stale and hard. The Ahi Tuna was very tough and hard to chew. Seemed old. YIKES! To top it off when it was Creekside, the kitchen would make Mac N Cheese for my daughter (even though it wasn't on the menu) because she was such a picky eater. We were there one night (when it was Creekside) and they didn't have any marshmallows for the kids for the fire pit. They sent one of the servers out to Target to get them and brought them to the kids. Talk about service. Now you have to pay $5 for marshmallows. No thanks! read more

What a gem!! This place is so fun! The servers are fast and friendly, and the food comes out at a nice pace: not too fast, not too slow. The menu is real southern fish fry cuisine done to perfection!! There's a large outdoor area with live music and another outdoor bar area for dining. They have live music and the best bread pudding in FLORIDA!! Definitely recommend! It's out of the tourist/college area hidden back in the woods. If we hadn't have had boat trouble and ended up at a dock by the river, we never would've known! A must try for sure!! read more

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great bartender. The mega oysters were terrific. Plump and seafood juicey!

Service was terrible! Waitress was not attentive at all. Took a long time for food to come out ( not necessarily her fault) but could have communicated better. Very happy with our dinner here. I had steamed oysters & my fiancé had the lobster. We also shared a calamari app. Everything was delicious. Nice atmosphere indoor and out. Waiting typically reasonable. I normally play it safe and order an appetizer or a simple menu off the item but Saturday night we were out celebrating with friends for a big moment. I found a mouth-watering item on the specials list that was a grilled Salmon on a bed of rice with a topping of cowboy caviar. It was way more than I'd normally spend but it just sounded delicious & I love caviar and have not treated myself in years. Well jokes on me. I asked to switch bed of rice to grits which were offered on other dishes as my "bed." The grits were in a small bowl on the side. Okay quick fix, dump them on and no problem. The main fixing with a tiny strip of nicely grilled salmon was this corn mixture with pinto beans. Now looking for the caviar I found what appeared to be one black looking kernel. I showed the waiter. He responded, oh "I see, let me get you some more." He returned with a small bowl of more corn & pinto beans and said, "Here you go, and yes this is what they are calling our caviar." Really????see my picture. A fish place, using the term caviar (which are technically fish eggs) and they think this is ok?? Was that supposed to be funny? Sorry, but for "specials on the menu that sound mouthwatering, and a chef uses the term caviar- be careful. As a SA resident, it will be hard for me to recommend this place again. Call a burger a burger, and caviar is fish eggs, you want to play around at a high end place and use the word Cowboy Caviar for corn??? Don't try that in a small town!!! Description and accuracy is everything or put out a sample tray to Visualize. That's a fatal mistake in culinary. There are lots of other restaurants in town. read more

Can you say food coma? Want to get a little off the beaten path and go to a true local restaurant without the touristy vibe? Want to dine outside under a beautiful canopy of trees by the water and listen to a true band not some guy w a guitar and pre recorded music? Want FRESH fish and AMPLE portions? Want to leave feeling like you have a food coma and how for the first time in your life you understand how Jesus multiplied the fish and fed five thousand because you can't believe how much food you couldn't eat and have to take home? Then you should absolutely try this St Augustine secret! Located in what the locals know as the old creek side restaurant, St. Augustine Fish House and Oyster bar does not disappoint. We took our waitress Leslie's recommendation and tried the "appetizer" Brussels sprouts with goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette topped with seared shrimp and sausage. OMG my only regret is that I ordered an entree as well because not only was this as addictive as crack, (disclosure, never have actually tried crack) the potion was so large next time I will order it as a meal! This was followed by the crab stuffed grouper which was thick and meaty and very good but unfortunately I couldn't finish it because of the amount of Brussels sprouts. I was disappointed that the grits had run out by the time (very popular) I got there so I opted for the collard greens and sweet potato fries at Leslie's recommendation as well. I actually never tried the collard greens as the sweet potato fries were amazing and came with a melted marshmallow sauce that I have never had before but was a very nice treat! I have been told the key lime pie is delicious but my eyes are literally hurting from being too full! I could go on and on but I am starting to relapse into my food coma again. Great job on reinventing a St Augustine local establishment. I look forward to many more Sunday evenings by the creek. read more

Big disappointment. For dinner at the bar I ordered the fish sandwich. You have a choice of fish and I picked local flounder. I got the smallest filet ever. The bun was loaded with veggies, which was nice, but it would have been better to have some fish in there that I could taste. Two stars because the gal working the bar was very nice. Not sure I'll go back to try something else. read more

We went for Mother's Day and everything was spectacular! Our table outside on the patio overlooked the water and the shade, breeze and fire pit were perfect. We started with the Brussels sprouts drizzled with balsamic, along with conch fritters, and scallops. All were great but the scallops were especially amazing, baked in Parmesan And butter. For entrees we had poke bowl, which is amazingly colorful and healthy, fried, plump oysters, and crab cakes. My vegetarian wife had a beautiful beet salad and they even accommodated my vegan daughter with the fish tacos, swapped with a black bean patty. To top it all off, the key lime pie is the best on the planet! Overall, great atmosphere and wonderful food! read more

We made the mistake of visiting on a Sunday night. Made a reservation with out of town guests to one of our favorite restaurants. Asked hostess for outside table twice given perfect weather and a dozen open tables. She was insistent that 1.5 hour wait for outside and only reservations for inside tables. They looked short staffed but why not just shift staff to outside tables given perfect weather. The outside area is major draw, especially with the fire pit and occasional music. Coconut shrimp was good as usual. Cheese spread had crostini that were too hard. Half our entrees were not hot so disappointed that not a good experience overall. read more

Worst dining experience that I have ever had. We ordered for appetizers the oysters with Parmesan and red peppers. The red bell pepper pieces were significantly larger that the oyster itself. Taste was fine but not excellent. My wife ordered a spicy margarita - the first was great with perfect amount of heat. Second margarita had nearly 1/4 inch of jalapeño seeds at the bottom - nearly unbearable to drink. I ordered tequila on the rocks - the drink came out in a plastic punch glass. Waitress said, "I can try and get a real glass but sometimes we just don't have them..." Side Caesar salads were wilted leaves rolled up on the plate with a sprinkling of Parmesan - again not horrible but sad delivery. Ordered a ribeye medium rare and the steak was a very poor attempt at sous vide. Steak temperature was medium well and coated with parsley... COATED. The cut was very sub or as it was maybe a half inch thick. Looked more like skirt steak than a ribeye and tasted closer to a leather boot. I am not someone that complains or is overly picky. But This restaurant has been very overhyped and underdelivered. Will actively avoid going back here. read more

This was our second visit. The fish is very fresh, and delicious. Oysters Rockefeller was on the menu. No other fish house in St Augustine seems to have it in October, so our guest who wanted it was pleased, and thought they were delicious. The 2 whole fried flounders were perfect. I ordered the blackened grouper, taco dish. I ordered it the first time here, and enjoyed it the second time too. On the weekends there is music. and there was a fund raiser on the huge deck also, but unfortunately the moderator's voice did not resonate, so was not able to hear her. Our reservations were for 5:15, and the parking lot was almost full. We will return. Food, service and entertainment made it pleasant. read more

My beloved GF and I were turned from the door at Hurricane Patty's at 8:25pm because they stopped serving for dinner?! At any rate we ended up at The Fish House around 9pm, we were seated quickly. We noticed lots of people leaving. There was music in the back. The food was fine it was just a process. I ordered peel and eat shrimp which came pretty quickly. Unfortunately I had to ask for cocktail sauce . And silverware. And plates. And hot sauce. And napkins . Then my 1/2 dozen steamed oysters came. Just oysters, no butter, no cocktail sauce , no horseradish , no lemon, no crackers, no lil oyster fork . It was hard to be angry at our young numb headed waiter, he was very polite and was trying hard and did correct all our needs but some sort of adult supervision was definitely needed. We will wait a week or two and go back and see if they have improved their game. read more

Came here on a busy night for dinner. We waited about 30 minutes and then were seated outside. We were never asked if we wanted to be seated outside but I was just happy to get a table. But it turned into a terrible experience. There was dried food left on the table from earlier. The flies were terrible. We had to swat flies the entire time we ate. Apparently something was dead somewhere because we could smell something faintly and that had to be the reason for the flies. To top it off, my husband ordered grouper and it wasn't cooked all the way. He couldn't even eat the middle section of it. Won't return, wasted $100. read more

If you're a foodie, this probably isn't your place. If you're looking for a nice bar with a fun environment, give it a go. This is a new locally owned restaurant, which I love, so I'm willing to give the food another shot down the road. The outdoor area is really nice, with plenty of seating, a huge fire pit, and a stage for entertainment. The band that was playing when I was there was absolutely amazing! To start, we ordered the Fish House Style Charbroiled Oysters. Not my favorite. They felt overcooked and had enough garlic on it to choke The Godfather himself. One oyster had a piece of garlic on it the size of a dime. Now, I really really really like garlic, but this was too much. We also tried the grouper nuggets. They were ok, but they really needed seasoning. The fried green tomatoes needed more seasoning as well, but the mountain pimento cheese underneath was delicious. The cheese grits, made with the same pimento cheese, was nice as well. The Brussels sprouts, though, were not my favorite. They had a very strange taste, almost as though something on the plate was past it's prime. Overall, all of the food was ok, but it was plated nicely, the staff was working extremely hard, the drinks were nice, and the entertainment was great. read more

The Boathouse - Fried clams, fried shrimp, pimento cheese grits, green beans. - Seafood Near Me - St Augustine, Florida

They're...okay. It's yet another of the recent years' trend of northerners deciding to open seafood Florida restaurants styled as being local but wholly geared toward the tastes (or lack thereof) of people who don't usually eat seafood and think ketchup is spicy. Good: everything was very fresh. Bad: it had almost no flavor. They don't season anything...at all...like not in the slightest. The fried shrimp is breaded instead of battered, so even though it was likely local and fresh may as well have been pre-frozen from a factory. The clam strips aren't actual clams but some sort of other thing chopped into teeny tiny slivers that end up being 90% crust and taste a little like clams but mostly like oysters. The scallops were thick and juicy and not over cooked...too bad they again didn't bother to season them at all. Recommendation: if you're from anywhere in the south, you'll be disappointed by the bland lack of effort, but if you're from the rest of the country, you'll probably think it's great. read more
