    Caesar salad

We loved the butter chicken medium hot. We also had the Caesar salad. Next time we add cocktails but this was just for a food experience. We will be back! We also had a great appetizer of truffle parm fries - sorry no pic because they vanished!

This place is a gem. Very happy we stopped by this place. We arrived at the restaurant around 9pm, and parking was easy to find. We were greeted by the host as we entered. First impression was that the place was on the dimmer side, but just enough lighting for dinner time. There wasn't a lot of customers at this time, so the ambiance was nice and private. Music was appropriate, and not too loud. Tables were clean and chairs were comfy and padded. Now for the good part! The food was very delicious. We started with truffle parm fries. Parm is sprinkled on top of the fries with the truffle butter on the side for dipping. Solid appetizer if you like this dish. I always have to have some potatoes, so this hit the spot. For the main dish, I got the butter chicken curry and rice. I asked for medium spice which was enough to make my nose slightly runny. For me, it was delicious, but I also have a higher than normal tolerance for spice. I recommend starting with mild as this does not take away from the flavor and can be equally as delicious. Very good portions as I was able to split my dish into two servings. As for the service. A+! Our server was very attentive and polite. Checked on us multiple times throughout our meal. Overall experience was very positive!

I can see why this is the number one restaurant in Hinton. We went for dinner based upon Yelp's recommendations and it did not disappoint. Chicken tikika was fantastic as well as the greek salad and pumpkin ginger soup. Plan to go back again! Service was very prompt and pleasant.

Menu is very diverse and reasonably priced! Ordered the appie platter and pasta and all were delicious! Fed a family of 4 for $70! A must try in Hinton.

Waiter was attentive and checked in multiple times and having a pitcher of water was nice so we didn't have to bother him so much. He did tell us that as we were paying that if we write a Google review you get a free drink (sangria or juice I think he said) on your Next visit. Tried the: Potato Gratin: 9/10, really grainy but could tell they used a lot of real cheese. Potato was perfectly cooked and I loved that there was lots of sauce. Very pretty presentation. Orange chicken: 8.5/10, chicken as super tasty but just too much ginger for me in the sauce. Rice was very very bland. Spiralized diakon/parsnip was a great light vegetable that Looked like raw onion but thankfully wasn't. Loved it. Drink, The Opener: 10/10. Size appears small but by the end of it I was done with it. Wow taste though. Boyfriend said you can taste the rum but I got more banana and minty. 100% would get again. Got pretty strong by the end but really liked the flavor combo And the color.

The Whisky Jack Grill Jasper, Alberta Canada July 2026 I…read morewas in Jasper for two days, on a train vacation that got me out of the District for the semi quincentennial. On Amtrak the trip began in Washington, D.C., through Chicago, then Seattle, then Jasper. Amtrak got me to Seattle seamlessly; and VIA Rail Canada got me from Seattle to Jasper, just as painlessly. Really good planning by my Amtrak Vacations representative, Kevin Guadagnoli, who was working through Railbookers. During the time I had in Jasper, I had the chance to breathe, to observe, to inhale, and to enjoy. Jasper provided all of this, and The Whisky Jack Grill was a major part of the benefits of this trip. I was at the Grill in mid-afternoon, and Tereza was there with no wait and a menu, and a helpful attitude. I settled in with no prior knowledge of what the venue had to offer. Great start: the menu included a beef goulash (spicy smoked paprika beef, potato and onion with a fresh oven-baked baguette, $22) that I was sorely tempted to order, and a competitor - beef Stroganoff (served with linguine past, topped with sour cream and pickles, $34). But I was looking for a lighter option and found it with an appetizer: sticky-finger black pepper tofu! Peppercorn, honey-molasses, butter glazed tempura-fried tofu, served with a delicious Asian slaw ($22). That plus a 4 p.m. double gin and tonic ($12) brought the bill for my late lunch to $35.70 plus a $5 CAD tip. Really impressive service, excellent food, and reasonably priced. Conversation friendly, spacious, and relaxing. I doubt I'll have the chance to return to Jasper (I'm 70 and live in D.C. and my traveling days may be numbered) but if the four winds bring me back, I'll save space for The Whisky Jack Grill. (And I don't mean to be a pest, but according to the venue, there is no "e" in Whisky". Just saying, because that's what's on the postcard they left with my tab.)

The beef stroganoff special also looked delicious. Service was friendly, and the views of the mountains from inside the restaurant were beautiful! They also had a great local beer selection. We grabbed the blueberry pie to go, and it came with ice cream, so good. We would definitely come back during a future stay in Jasper!

On the positive side, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the decor definitely delivered on the "ranch" vibe. The old-style wooden chairs and overall atmosphere gave it a cozy, rustic feel that I really liked. The food, however, was a bit hit or miss. We ordered the chicken strips, which honestly felt a little disappointing. They were cooked properly, but the chicken itself had an odd taste that threw me off. I had onion rings on the side -- they were good, but nothing particularly memorable. We also ordered two 1-lb orders of wings (hot honey and salt & pepper), and these were definitely the highlight of the meal. The wings were cooked really well, juicy without being dry, and both flavours were delicious. Overall, great service and atmosphere, but the food quality felt inconsistent. I'd come back for the wings, but probably skip the chicken strips next time. They also have a 7.99$ for 1LB of wings, which was definitely a bonus.

Reasonable prices for the potions and quality of the food and the service is pretty decent. The first time we went in our bartender/ server was great, wasn't super busy so we chatted a little bit and she gave us recommendations and was very quick to put our food in and get our drinks. The second time a different bartender/ server was not as good. It was less busy than the first time but she would go to the kitchen (which we can see from the bar) and be talking and laughing and we would have to waive her down a few times. But the food was great! Highly recommend the peirogies, they are crispy and have lots of filling and don't seem to be frozen ones from the grocery store they seem home made!
