Ate here twice while I was staying at the JPL this week. I loved the food and the experience. I haven't been here for a while, but it did not disappoint. On their menu, they have an amazing tomato soup/grilled cheese and falafel wrap that were SO good. I just wanted to recognize the service though. We were taken care of by the staff so nicely. They fit us in when we were late to our reso (had a sick Dog on our way to Jasper) and they were so attentive! I loved how they recommended different wines and liquor, as well as had a thorough knowledge of the menu. I really hope they see this and know that it was appreciated! Something special they did was bring out a birthday cake for my girlfriend. It was thoughtful and the server made the effort to make it gluten-free and vegan so she could eat it. So nice of them. It even had a little "Happy Birthday" note on it. I would 150% eat here again. If I stay at the JPL I really can't wait! read more

Wonderful and creative dishes and cocktails ...that is when you eventually get served. We booked booked a lakefront cabin, and came for lunch on the Sunday then breakfast Monday (Valentine's Day) on both occasions we were seated then sat and waited for a server, no waters, even glances from the many servers constantly waking by. After getting up to ask to be served on both occasions, timely service once it finally began, followed by waiting for 15-18 Minutes both timed for a takeaway box and a bill. Room service is the only way to go if your hungry. read more

If you visit, try the blueberry tea. I don't know which brand of liquors they use, but it's easily the most spectacular I have ever had. They even properly warm the glass for you. If you are snacky, ask if you can order the room service popcorn. Good lord. A huge basket overflowing with tasty bits. I can say that I have had great meals and I have had less than good meals on a few occasions over the years. Right now I am accompanying my S.O. At a conference, and I've sat here for almost 45 minutes. (Although I AM on the other side of the fireplace in the casual area that is partially taken over by conference trade show tables), I usually get service here, and I haven't seen a single server. I'm sure this older gentleman in a suit and name tag will be ... never mind. I have found most often, service to be better on off-hours rather than mealtime rush. Guess I'll meander back to the room and return when there's less chaos about. read more

Great room, pretty good service, over priced in places but worth the $$ in others. I visit here once or twice a year mainly for the Maple Old Fashioned from the bar and for a stroll around the grounds. We always try something new off the menu but it can be hit or miss. The wild mushrooms on toast with a soft sous vide egg was the highlight this time! The dressing on the elk burger was wonderful however the patty itself was a bit bland and heavy on the onions. $11 for a sleeve of draught hurts but their signature cocktails are worth it! Spend the extra $5 to get your whiskey/bourbon smoked table side! read more

Great location, terrible food. The food in the lounge is very overpriced for what you get and the quality does not match the surroundings. $18 for semi warm chicken wings that are not crispy or even better than your local pub. The chicken wings also come as a whole wing which is less than appetizing. I have had much better wing night wings for a quarter of the price. For $18 you would expect a piping hot bowl of wings with a decent sauce however this is not what is being served here. The French Onion soup was okay but again terribly over priced. I would say the Keg French onion soup is much better and again much cheaper. I don't mind paying more to eat at the JPL however the food quality should match the price. We also ate breakfast at the lounge, again a solid disappointment. Cold food and medium sized portion for $30 with a 15% tip. For a Fairmont property they really need to re evaluate the kitchen and menu. You are better off driving into Jasper for a meal than eating here. read more

Incredible lunch on the balcony enjoying their own craft beer called Roof Top Honey Lager the local bees provide the honey from the beehives on top of the Jasper Park Lodge. Started off with the squash soup and tomato carrot bisque soup, both of these were excellent. I also had a steak sandwich which was incredible on grilled sourdough bread. All in all it was a great lunch, our server was also very atentive. read more

The Jasper Park Lodge has begun upgrading their interior decor, and the Emerald Lounge is benefitting from a MUCH needed facelift. With such a spectacular vista, the room should be just as lovely. Drinks are pricey, but well made. I had the Vesper Martini, and although not as lemony as I thought it would be, was smooth and delicious, and icy cold. The little "snack" that is complimentary is out-of-the-bag pretzels. Not exactly what I would have expected from a Fairmont hotel, but it's free, so you can't complain too much!! Serving staff is knowledgeable, although a little cold. Our server warmed up towards the end of our brief visit. read more

This place a great quiet little resort just out of Jasper. The lodge itself is great but the prices for food and beverage are over the top. Having said that I had the best ever beer I have ever had in my life! The Roof Top Honey Lager is made in Calgary by a local brewery using honey from the beehives on top of the Jasper Park Lodge. If you are ever in Jasper you have to try it! read more

Comparing to the equivalent Lakview Lounge at the Fairmont Lake Louise, this was a disappointment. Views are not as good. Same dishes are more expensive. Cheesesteak sandwich was not as good as in the Lakeview , using a cheaper cut of beef. Also the "yam" fries are actually just sweet potato fries (is this a Canadian thing? Yam = sweet potato?) The best value is their hot chocolate, at $5. Looked awesome and yummy too. Overall it is not bad, especially considering that the dishes are not that much more expensive than in Jasper downtown restaurants. read more

Bison burger - 4/5 - so I like bison now. Every time I have it in the states, it's a bit gamey. Not at all here. Great taste and lean. The thin layer of duck meat was like a bacon substitute. Great burger. Glazed Short Ribs - 3/5 - a little overcooked and I wanted more sauce (I understand its a glaze but am used to more sauce). They were accommodating by getting me the poutine gravy but it's not the same. Veg was asparagus and carrot, well cooked. Potato puree ended up being halved mini potatoes but they were fine Service - 5/5 - friendly. I was really looking forward to coming here because it was our first stop in Alberta, and our first meal out & about. The service was okay, she was attentive but not a great conversationalist. I got the Bison burger which I found to be pretty flavorful so I was impressed. However, my friends got the poutine and the gravy that they use for this poutine was pretty awful....neither of them were close to even finishing half of it. My wife and I were here in town for a conference. Nice view here at this Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge restaurant. We both had the chicken club. First the service was terribly slow. We waited over an hour to eat. Even the couple beside us were starving. They felt the same way. We placed our order quickly as we had to get back to the conference. No apologies at all, why....... they simply don't care. My club had a hair in it. I was so hungry I didn't care. I know most people would be grossed out by that, I was hungry. The club was $23, but your paying for the view. In conclusion: Food good, service extremely slow. read more

This is the perfect bar to sit back, relax and take in the breathtaking view. Drinks are pricey for Jasper but like the fact that they give you homemade chips and pretzels. We were going to grab a sandwich but seen the prices and decided to wait until dinner. read more

Hard to find any fault with emerald lounge with the exception of stiff prices. Great foods as well as a solid selection beers on tap. It is the nice open space on left, when you walk into the main lodge. it has a big fireplace and is Great for drinks, lunch or dinner with friends. Servers are fantastic. read more

The view is great, seating comfortable and ambience relaxed. Pretty much the only place to eat at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge during low season, as other restaurants are closed when there is low occupancy. It could be better by just a notch if service (for a Fairmont) was a little bit warmer. read more

Atrocious service. Walked into the lounge after a round of golf, hoping to grab some lunch and drinks, but rather than being greeted kindly by the hostess, we were stopped and questioned as if we walked into her personal living room. She questioned our table choice with a, "if you must sit there." After twenty minutes without seeing a glass of water we left, despite making a few advances to stop waiters and waitresses in the vacinity. Once again the lack of customer service by the staff at the Emerald Lounge, continues to bring down the Fairmont name. read more

This is close if your staying at the Fairmont as it is in the main building and you don't need to go back into Jasper. They have burgers a few appetizers and some entrees like one pasta dish one beef one chicken and one fish. The service was good and yes it's a bit pricey because they can overcharge as it is convenient if your staying. But 15 dollar cocktails is a little crazy- I expected pricey as per it's the "Fairmont" but this was $6.00 for a side of guacamole with the nachos. I don't mind paying for food quality at all but the food was just ok. And going into Jasper you can find amazing food for less. So all in all not terrible and I am sure if you down three $15.00 cocktails first the food would taste better. The view is beautiful if you sit by the window and the ambiance of the grand room and the hustle and bustle of the main entrance is cool. Also has live music some evenings so that's a plus too. read more

I stopped in for a late supper my first night of a conference at the Lodge. I had the gnocchi - it was heavy and gluey, like eating lumps of library paste. The sauce was great, and the dish well-seasoned... But lord the gnocchi were just god-awful. I ate maybe half the plate before I just couldn't do it any more. Also of note, my server took the order, another server brought it, the first server asked how it was before my first bite... And then nothing. I wasn't offered water, no stopping by, not even eye contact. I became invisible. After a good while of trying to make eye contact, I gave up and started trying to flag him down. It took 10 minutes, but I finally got his attention by waving both arms over my head. Embarrassing. He apologized, and then kept trying to get me to say "that's alright" or something similar - I was not in the mood to comfort him. Even as I was walking out, he yelled, "Hope everything was okay!" I just shot him a "you know better" look and got out of there. I have no choice but to eat there again, I'm kind of trapped at the Conference. But I'll be staying away from any dish that requires skill beyond slapping it on a grill or dropping it in a fryer. read more
