We came to Evil Dave's on new year day and it was packed. We had reservations as some places in town were closed on the holiday. The service was organized, prompt and friendly. We split a bunch of appetizers. My favourites were the tacos and the salad. Always get their salads! The baked brie wasn't that warm when it came out and they replaced it right away. The restaurant itself has a nice modern interior. It was much busier than the last time we were there and had a bubbly and warm atmosphere. We will likely be back again next time we visit Jasper. read more

We were expecting funky and fun from a place called Evil Dave's but this was such a mediocre experience. The ambiance was nicer than expected given the name, it was comfortable and modern but lacked any charm. The drinks were a highlight, we all enjoyed our cocktails and mocktails. The server was also very attentive and communicative. The only item we really enjoyed was the goat cheese poutine. That was delicious. The entrees were boring. Two of my party got the blackened salmon special with rice, vegetables and curry aioli. They expected a flavorful experience but got white rice, steamed vegetables and barely seasoned salmon with a small side of flavored mayo. It was cooked well but just not very tasty. I got one of the staff favorites, the bison meatloaf, which was also pretty bland. The meals were served like a convention center banquet meal instead of saucy, flavorful and fun. read more

This place was just next door to our hotel and on our list of restaurants we wanted to try. Honestly from the name of the restaurant, we thought the inside would be more like eclectic. Kinda like a theme rock or something of the sorts but it was definitely not. It was actually very nice inside, casual dining with a very fun menu. I wish I was hungry enough to try everything. Everything on the menu sounded so good and interesting. Even their drinks. The cocktails all sounded so good. We tried one of them and it was dangerous. I'd love to come back to try more! read more

We had dinner here out of convenience as it was next to our hotel, and ended up really enjoying it. The decor was cool and the service was friendly. I ordered an old fashioned which was very good , but I was also really impressed with their mocktail menu. The hot mess dip was so delicious, and the chips were homemade with plenty to share and even some extra to take home. The chef's cut steak was very good, and we added on veggies which really completed the meal. If there was one thing I could change about the menu, I'd add more salads. Nick is our hospitality host and server in this nice restaurant with modern deco and plenty of free parking and free wifi. They serve fusion food from birders and baguette, cowboy sushi and poke bowl to Canadian Poutine, phish Tacos, karma Curry, typhoon noddle and steak and potatoes and extensive wine list. Probably every tourist will find something to fit his or her taste. Upscale settings and service in casual ambiance. We ordered 3 Alberta beef NY cuts medium rare Chef's cuts with variety of additional sides and got one rare, one medium rare and one medium . Sure we don't expect steak house prime quality here. I would prefer the gravy only on the mash potatoes, not on the steak. Would love to taste the smell and texture of Alberta beef by itself only. The crispy skin salmon daily catch is really good. Wicked tuna poke bowl is served with plenty of marinated tuna, mango, avocado and edamame beans in fragrance jasmine rice. All are well decorated and served. We also ordered a bottle of Pinot noir Saveurs du temp, languedoc, France. Nice dinner in the Canadian national park without any reservations. Go beat that in any USA national parks restaurant. They have some tasty comfort food dishes I had the Typhoon Noodles with shrimp. The noodles were udon-like which I happen to love. The sauce was a little sweet but still on the lighter side. I could have used some heat but that's just me. The dish is filling as a generous portion is provided. The husband had the meatloaf...and I'm not sure if this is their signature dish....but it should be. The meatloaf has great texture and flavor! Meaty and satisfying if you are looking for something other than steak. It's definitely what I consider a comfort dish. We also started with the arugula salad. It's big and easily shareable with 3 people. There was just the 2 of us and we didn't finish it. They have a nice beer, wine, cocktail menu so you should be able to find an adult beverage that satisfies. They also have zero proof beverages as well so.... Something for everyone. This was hands-down one of the best meals that we had on our entire trip to Canada. We came after a long day of hiking and exploring in the Jasper area. The service was extremely attentive and fast. The restaurant is very clean and modern with a romantic or date night feel. We decided to try a little bit of everything from their menu, and each and every dish was not only beautifully presented, but absolutely bursting with fresh delicious flavor. We tried the Cowboy sushi, the daily bread, the fried Brie, and the bison meatballs. My mouth is watering just thinking about all of the delicious appetizers that we had. It was truly hard to pick a favorite but I would definitely recommend at least trying the cowboy sushi. Came by here to have some dinner and celebrate a birthday after some water rafting in the cold river. They were doing some construction on the side, so don't worry they are still open. When we got there we were able to get seated at a table for a party of nine of us. We order a few appetizers, a bottle of wine, and entrées to try. The cheese board was pretty tasty, it was something that we shared as a group. We ordered a few of the entrées, such as the steak, curry, and salmon. They did not have as many things on the menu, so the party of nine we ended up doubling up on certain things. The portions are not as large as we thought, good for one person to eat each with some appetizers. The food was all right, but it was kind of interesting that they had some fusion food. read more

Wife and I first saw this place as we drove by it going into Jasper. The signage really stuck out to us and prompted us to see what the restaurant was all about. We looked at the menu and decided to try it out as neither one of us had been before. Restaurant is nicely laid out, comfortable but still feels upscale. Had my birthday dinner here with a party of 8 while visiting Jasper and the food was amazing! Ordered cowboy sushi which was just about the best appetizer I've ever had the dumplings which were good but in comparison to how good the rest of the food was seemed mediocre and the bison meatloaf with wild boar bacon. I also tried some of my daughters rainbow trout and was blown away. Fish has no business tasting that good. For desert fried bananas and ice cream. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Cocktails were expensive at around $16/drink but is pretty average for jasper prices. Service was nothing to complain about and staff is friendly. The restaurant has a modern ambiance and is nice but doesn't have a dress code. 20% gratuity automatically added for groups larger than 7. I would for sure eat here again. We came here for dinner on our last night in jasper. Pricey - like pretty much everywhere in town but everything was great. I got the steak and it was cooked perfectly. Very cool and relaxed vibe - I liked the feel of this place. Service was fantastic. My family tried the salmon and the southwest themed bowl. Everyone enjoyed their meals. This is a beautiful polished restaurant with a creative menu. Sadly I think the appeal is lost on the Jasper tourists. I'll admit I thought a place with a name like Evil Dave's would be a dark kitschy pub with a wild mountain story behind the name. The unique menu and freely available parking drew me in like a magnet to see what this place was about. I trust my yelpers so I ordered the highly recommended cowboy sushi with a glass of cab. I was in beefy salty nori roll heaven!! I could have easily ordered a second one. Instead I had the Holy Cow and ceviche. I loved the freshness of the ceviche since I've been experiencing avo withdrawal since leaving Utah weeks ago. The "cow" bulgogi was perfectly seasoned and juicy. I loved the onion cake so much too. It reminded me of Navajo fry bread. Around me, folks were ordering beers and cheeseburgers. I'm sure they were wonderful but the super friendly and attentive service mixed with the delicious and interesting food meant that the foodies need to find this place asap!! read more

Parking also not the best... but once your in, its great. First off chill atmosphere, friendly staff. Daily bread is awesome BUT order 2. Or 1 per person, its small. The drink menu is awesome, we had wine they pair it well. Anyways the meatloaf is awesome and I guess the best seller for 12 years. The salmon also wicked. Cheesecake and mousse both so tasty. While this place boasts a fine atmosphere to dine in, it's culinary attempts feel similar to a truck stop diner that tries to be fancy With only 4 tables occupied in such a large place the staff took their time with every aspect of our visit and not in a good way. The menu is uninspiring with 1950,s diner fare propped up by 1980's buffet style plating. Think worst wedding meal you've had and you get it. The deserts are horrible. None of us got past 1 bite of the 3 offered deserts. The crème brûlée was a 1/4" deep served in a tea saucer with no carmelized sugar scorched on top and was chunky. Think bread pudding. Then they add a 1/4 cup of runny whipped cream onto it. I mentioned that this was not crème brûlée and they responded with "well this is our take on it". The topper of the stay was the single toilet bathroom which was for everyone (no Mens womens and handi ready options) with one giant full height Mirror bolted to the wall so you can in detail watch yourself relieve yourself. I visited this place on my way to go camping and it was just ok. It is quite pricey (most places are in Jasper but still). Also, the drinks were not mixed well. I had mango purée in mine and it was not stirred beforehand and since they do not have straws my drink was quite tart and strong at first and then unpleasantly sweet. We both ordered the bison meatloaf. It was nice and moist and the gravy was well seasoned. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm and lumpy and the veg were nothing special. The service was prompt but friendly. The bill was $90 for two meat loaves and one drink each. We came around 5:30 on a long weekend Friday and it was not full when we arrived but packed when we left so I would recommend a reservation if you're heart is set on trying this place out. read more

This one time Japser favorite has gone down hill. We usually come in October for dark skys and this has been our go to restaurant. Waited to be greeted at the door. Felt ignored waiting. Watched the Manager/Owner and a waiter confer a couple of times while we waited. 2-3 other couples/threesomes arrived, they were turned away. We were informed that there were two large groups, "as you can see", and we should "walk around the block. If we didn't find somewhere to eat, check back, and they'd see." We ate elsewhere.
