I had been eager to try this place for a while, and was happy to get a reservation on a Friday night. The restaurant is a nice little trendy corner in Jasper, well annointed, great atmosphere. Our waitress was pleasant and eager, and gave us time to review the menu. The water was a bit mineral-y but the cocktails were fine. We started with some bruschetta, which was maybe a little skimpy, had a nice kick. Then we had the brie, wow it was so good, deep fried with panko and almond, served beautifully on a bed of pear puree and balsamic, and it was delicious. For our mains, i had the bison and boar bacon meatloaf, which was outstanding, but the mashed potatoes were dry as a chip, and the accompanying carrots and broccoli frankly cold. I ordered a side of sauteed mushrooms, which were overlooked, and even though they eventually arrived 15 minutes after the rest of the food, they still appeared on the final bill. Very amateur. My wife had the salmon, which was good but a bit fishy, again with cold vegetables, but good jasmine rice. We each had a glass of wine with the meal, which were decent but i think a little over priced. I would give it another try, but overall not what i was hoping for. read more

Eclectic food. A little heavy on Spicy. But was good I arrived with an upset stomach from a bad lunch. I eventually settled on an open face sandwich that was excellent but a tad too heavy on the wasabi! A lot of ice cubes later j could taste again. The drink of the house was a little watered down but mixed ginger ale into it and it was more tasty. My husband had the meatloaf and said it was excellent. My holy cow was also. We had an amazingly patient server who worked with us to find something my tender stomach was up to. He deserves a lot of credit for that! We went to Evil Daves thinking it would be a cheap burger/pub style joint - thats how it looks from the outside! But we were pleasently suprised when we got inside, its a very modern looking restaurant. We really enjoyed the food but found it VERY over priced. I had the fried chicken - 4 pieces of fried chicken (very tasty), a handfull of mash and tons of sweetcorn - tasty but not worth $24.99. Hubbys was the same price for the Hells Chicken. I also got a dessert, the sinful sundae - $10.99, very delicious but again over priced. So why only 3 stars if the only issue is the food being over priced? ....I was really, REALLY dissapointed with the service. 1) You have to wait to be seated, all 4 waitresses working that night looked at us while we we're waiting, only one gave us a second look and seated us 2) Our waitress was really slow at taking our orders - its not a big place, there are 4 waitresses plus bar staff, and at the time it wasn't full - so what was taking so long?! 3) The restaurant later did fill up, but our waitress was still REALLY slow, I actually watched her and rather than drop off a dessert menu to us, while taking drinks orders from others, and bringing out food she would bring out food and go back to the kitchen, then take a drink order and go back to the bar, she even sent someone else to give us the dessert menu. I dont know if she was new but she was making her job harder than it needed to be! Another thing I hate - the menu tells you how much to tip, I tip based on the service and she was NOT deserving of a 15-20% tip. Lucky for her my husband was paying and DID give her a 15% tip. I would go back for the food, and I guess high prices are expected in Jasper...I just hope we get better service next time! read more

Great meal, great service, seriously zero complaints. I will say that we are here during a slow time (mid-week in January), and were the only people in the restaurant when we went, so it would have been pretty sad to have crappy service. We shared three dishes - the soup of the day (a carrot/ginger soup in a coconut milk base), the calamari, and a chicken/udon noodle dish. We so enjoyed everything that we decided we couldn't leave without dessert - a coconut cheesecake with a chocolate and caramel drizzle. Everything was delicious and very nicely presented. We didn't find the prices to be all that bad, particularly for a tourist town. Decor was very pretty - definitely fits the "asian fusion" vibe. I'm disappointed that I have to give this restaurant a poor review, because I've eaten here a few other times and have quite enjoyed it, but my last visit was not impressive. When my husband and me go to Jasper, this is the place that we want to hit up, more than anything else, so when we were in town for a work Christmas party in December, naturally we were going to make a reservation. We were there before the dinner rush, shortly after they opened for the evening and it was not busy, which was nice. We ordered our usual favourites -- the diabolical tenderloin for me, and fish for my husband. At the time, we were our servers only table and although it wasn't a very big deal, sometimes it was hard to get her attention. When our meals were served, she offered to bring us ground pepper, but then my husband watched as she looked at her phone and chatted with another server before she came over with the pepper mill. I had requested that my steak would be served medium and I'm not usually fussy if it is somewhat undercooked, but it was completely rare. When I brought it to the server's attention, she noticed right away that it was not cooked properly and it was replaced, but I sat watching my husband eat his entire meal, while they cooked another meal. That's never really a pleasant thing, to be dining while the other person is sitting there. By the time that the second steak arrived, it was cooked somewhat better, but it wasn't perfect and I had to eat the meal by myself. Honestly, the experience had been killed and I wasn't enjoying the meal like I should have. Upon receiving the bill, a small percentage had been removed in recognition of the error, but realistically, it didn't even cover my glass of wine. It didn't make me feel like they really cared that they made a mistake and when I am dining at a restaurant of this calibre, I expect more from the service. After this last visit, I don't think that we will return. read more

It's a small restaurant and it's always packed, so make sure you call ahead to make a reservation to ensure you get to experience this place. What I ate and drank... Karma Police cocktail (Hpnotiq, mango rum, muddled orange, green tea ginger ale, frozen mango cubes, shaken over ice) . Dangerously delicious! Beautiful Brie (for two). (A wheel of almond crusted Danish brie, in chilled pear puree with red currant sauce and balsamic reduction) I am NOT a fan of brie, in fact, I might go so far as to state that I hate brie. I was convinced to try it because the others who we were with that didn't love brie had ordered it before and swore by it. I tried to order the El Diablo but they'd sold out for the night due to the popularity of the dish so I ordered the Hell's Chicken (Gluten Free). We were wandering around Jasper on a cold, rainy day on the Father's Day weekend and even though I was hesitant to eat here, my husband really wanted to try it. I am so glad he "dragged" me in here. We had the best supper of our trip to Jasper at this restaurant. I had the tenderloin (4oz) and was so happy because it was cooked to perfection and was also the perfect size that I could have an appetizer and dessert and not be too full. My husband loved his meal and our daughter was pleased to partake in both our meals. The restaurant has very clean lines and is quite trendy looking. The service was amazing as well. Serving sizes leave you wonderfully satisfied, the meat is cooked to perfection, there's a fairly large selection to choose from on the menu and it all tastes like there's a delicious party in your mouth. We went here last night for a wedding, our friends rented the whole place for the evening! What a perfect venue for a small party wedding reception. The food was great, they had the meatloaf, chicken thighs and curry. Great wine list and speciality cocktails (I tried a few and they were all great) and the jumbo coconut shrimp was great. The best thing about this place though was the service! The bartenders, porters and servers were all so nice, organized and made the event go off without a hitch! The only thing I would suggest is to get a new speaker system to be able to make music louder for private events such as this:) Can't wait to try it out here next time I am in jasper! read more

I have to admit, I didn't know what to expect from a place named "Evil Dave's". I largely went because I thought that I had to go to a restaurant with such a silly name. Perhaps that's part of the marketing ploy, but it turned out to be one of the best choices of the trip. Just a heads up, reservations are mandatory - the restaurant was absolutely packed both times we went! We loved the African/Asian fusion decorating, and our service was super friendly (even recognizing us when we returned the next day!). The food was awesome - great quality food, original (mandarin and carrot cheesecake for example), and was light to digest. It makes a nice change from the heavy food I'm used to seeing in restaurants! Great place. Please visit and help them grow! read more

We stopped here after doing the Icefields Parkway from Banff and were pleasantly surprised at the eclectic menu and how well our dishes were prepared. We had the Chinese lettuce wrap for two which is highly recommended. We ordered ours with chicken and the portions were large, vegetables and lettuce wraps as fresh as can be, and everything was really flavorful. Presentation was especially nice on this dish as well. We also had the Cowboy Sushi which is tenderloin wrapped in sushi rice and nori. This was also very tasty although the batter was a little heavy for the dish. Would have liked more of the nori flavor to come through. Still, an interesting take on a Japanese roll. Service was very friendly and prices fair. Well worth a stop. read more

So it's May long weekend and you're out camping in the woods and it just so happens that it's someone's birthday. What do you do? Well obviously you go Jasper for a nice birthday dinner (it beat sitting in the rain trying to cook dinner over a sad fire). The restaurant itself was small and kind of cramped, but it's Jasper how much room can one restaurant really get, I mean come on gift shops need all the room right *eye roll*. Anyways for how small the place was it was great! The decor, the fire place, it turned out to feel really cozy. At first glance the menu doesn't have a lot of variety for food....although alcohol was a different story. The prices seem way too high for something like a plate of meat loaf, but it was nice to see they had many options to make a meal gluten free, or even vegetarian / vegan (not something a lot of places offer). So I order my food (I got the Typhoon Noodle with chicken) and for $25-$30 I wasn't sure what to expect, it could have gone one of two ways a monster of a meal that could kill king kong or something so small you would feel like you have an eating disorder. Well I am glad to say that it was neither of those. I got my food and it VERY well put together, nothing too big or too small, something that would fill you just enough that you could think about having desert rather than the waitress asking you and you looking at her like she was NUTS! So with that being said if you get the chance to go then GO! You will love it! Just NOTE if you have a NUT ALLERGY they roast their almonds in the deep frier, so definitely let them know about your allergy they will accomodate for it and will ensure all your food is safe. read more

We found this place by chance and decided to step in due to the unique menu items and the highly recommended Yelp reviews. We were for sure not disappointed. The place was not very busy given it was a weekday and we arrived late..the entrees had wine/beer pairings mentioned which we always like. We ordered the malicious salmon and the Hell's chicken. Both were delicious and true to their description in the menu. Paired with the Chardonnay and the Riesling respectively as recommended in the menu, we enjoyed a hearty meal after a long day of exploring the amazing Jasper national park. I had to fight and beg for them to allow takeout. They said it would be ten minutes. It was twenty. The food was nothing like described on the menu. Two appetizers. They were 4 gigantic wontons. Worthless. I can't eat bread or gluten. And not even 1/4 total cup of meat. Then 4 mini shrimp the size of my pinkie deep fried on lollipop sticks. For $25. This is exactly what i wanted for sustenance after 10 hours of driving. Completely overpriced for absolutely unfilling deep fried food. Despite that there were two, 2-tops in a better part of the restaurant available we were sat at the table with the menus above our heads and next to the stairs the three servers traversed every thirty seconds. This place was really good! The bulgogi appetizer was extremely tasty. Mongolian beef was yummy. Pad Thai isn't the real deal, however, it was delicious. Chow mein noodles with loads of fresh veggies and tender chicken on top. The chicken alone was delicious. Tekarra meatloaf was tender. Everything has loads of fresh veggies that were cooked perfectly. Lots of alcoholic drink options; could use some more non-alcoholic options though. $179 for two adults and a five year old and I won't make the mistake of returning the next time we are in Jasper. It's probably a good thing that Dave isn't there he would be embarrassed with how this restaurant is being run. After reading the reviews I was hopeful that we would have a wonderful meal after our day on the hill. We made reservations thinking that it would be quite busy based on all the great reviews. When we walked into the restaurant it was practically empty at 6:15 on a Thursday night. Our waiter was welcoming when we arrived and seated us in the back near the kitchen. We ordered drinks right away and I assumed that everything would be very prompt given that they had a large staff with so Little customers in the restaurant. After he took our drink order he left and went in the back to the kitchen we could hear the other waiters and kitchen staff gossiping about one of the other ladies they worked with. I understand that they didn't have much to do other than gossip but surely they knew we could hear them given how loud they were. The waiter came back and we gave him our appetizer order plus we ordered our entrées at the same time. We ordered calamari and when it arrived the presentation was quite nice when I cut into it and took a bite the calamari was cold there is seriously nothing worse than cold food. I didn't say anything because we were hungry and it was quite tasty even though it wasn't hot. My five-year-old ordered the meatloaf and his food was also cold. He ate the meatloaf but didn't touch the rest. I ordered the 6 ounce tenderloin and my husband ordered a chicken dish. Finally when it arrived I bite into my broccoli and of course it was cold. The steak was tasty but when I ask for medium rare I don't expect it to be blue. All in all we were extremely disappointed given the cost of the food. We will not be returning to this restaurant again and would hope that other reviewers find this post helpful. read more

We ordered the shrimp and chicken lettuce wrap appetizer which was plenty for a family of four. Then, we ordered both chicken entrées, filet mignon, and bison loaf. The meal was delicious and had a beautiful presentation and our palates are very pleased. The kitchen was very quick with our orders and quite impressive. The meal came with a lot of hype and unfortunately it fell flat. The appetizers were good on their own but covered in a mayo sauce that did not do the food any favours. For two appetizers to be served covered in mayo and that not to be on the menu was frustrating. I maintained a positive outlook and looked forward to my entree. I ordered the typhoon noodles and was greatly disappointed. Soggy ichiban noodles, a nonexistent sauce and Costco frozen stir fry vegetables made for a flavourless stir fry that had no texture or imagination. Mr noodles is honestly better. Very disappointing. I had the free range chicken with the stir fry and it was good. My friends had a pad Thai and the red curry. The pad Thai was the exact same dish as the typhoon noodle just with a different sauce. The "mindfully prepared vegetables" with the curry dish were also frozen mixed vegetables. Had my stir fry had anything resembling flavour I might have given a three star review. Honestly the worse service ever experienced! We read about this place from Jasper area dining guide while we were still in Banff. After a day's travel we were pretty tired but felt excited to try this place. When we arrived at the entrance, there was no staff there to greet us. There were a couple of waiters/waitresses walking around. But every one of them saw us standing by the entrance and ignored us. My wife tried to make eye contact with one of the male server several times and he did indeed see us. However, he continued to walk around to do his things and did not even show any expressions to acknowledge us. Come on, I totally understand he was busy. But at least show some basic human counterspy to make customer feel noticed. Aren't we the customer that make your business thrive and eventually feed you? How much hurt is there to acknowledge to customers? If acknowledge to customer hurt you pride, then you should not be in this business. Another female server behaved the same way. After standing there 15 min like a fool, I decided to sit down on the waiting area chair. That was the time the male server finally approached us. From his facial expression, it appeared that we were causing him trouble. The place is only like 70 % full. This guy said we should had make reservation. We can either wait for 30 minutes or we can just leave! What kind of arrogant business is this? Sure we can make reservation or we can come another day. However, it is all about the business's attitude. Maybe there are a lot of rich stupid person like to pay you money, well, I surely am not going to be one of them.
