Five stars for the food. Hit them on a bad day though. The menu was being changed and they were running out of food choices. Literally eight of their main dishes were sold out! With the limited choices that we had, it took over one and one half hours to get our food! Their solution to this problem was to come back again and try us out when we have the new menu. No discount on our bill. No apology from the manager. No gift certificate to come back. Disappointed with the service. We heard lots of good reviews and received referrals. Our daugher has a very restricted diet due to allergies so we contacted Evil Dave's in advance to see if the could work with us on finding something for our little one to eat as we were visiting Jasper for our anniversary and wanted a unique place to eat dinner.and eating out with our daughter is nearly impossible....they were more than helpful and ended up making a delicious meal for our kiddo....and their regular food was equally good! we came here during our stay in jasper. it was a monday night around 8 or so and by the time we finished our meal, we were the only ones left in the restaurant. when we arrived there was only another 2 or 3 tables dining, so it was very quiet. it didn't detract from our experience, but i can imagine when it is busier it would have more of a buzz to it. it was weird eating in such a quiet atmosphere! that being said, our waitress was very good - made good recommendations, and was friendly without being overbearing, and checked up on us throughout the night. we each ordered a cocktail to begin with - be warned, they are pretty strong! but delicious! i ordered the hell's chicken, as did one of my dining partners. i was warned it was going to be hot, and being jerk chicken, i expected it to be, but it wasn't the usual spiciness of jerk chicken that i am used to. i do however have quite a tolerance to spice, so for the more sensitive palate, i am sure this would pack a punch. it was beautifully presented, so well cooked, and a perfect size, however, entrees here are pricey, and i think you pay for the consistency of the food - my friends with us have eaten here many times and are never disappointed. my dining partners between them also had the fish tacos, which were delicious but probably the most garlicky food ever (my boyfriend ordered these, so i had the misfortune of having to kiss him for the rest of the night after...ick, holy garlic batman!), and my other friend had a fish noodle dish, although i can't remember which one. everyone enjoyed their meals and cocktails! i would say that it is overpriced, but it wouldn't put me off coming back here for special occasion dining. since we were on holiday it was fine for us to splash the cash, but i think if we lived local or visited jasper often, the high prices would mean we would reserve evil dave's for special visits only! read more

Great place with wicked food and cool tunes. Great service, atmosphere, and ingredients. All menu items have great ingredients prepared in a very nice original way. I got the "Hell's Chicken" and my partner got the "Mad Cow" lasagna. Both were very good. Thought goes into every ingredient. There must be a mad chef back in the kitchen someplace. I wish we were staying here in Jasper longer to eat here several times. read more

BEST FOOD IN JASPER. If you are looking for a bit more of an upscale, decadent dinner. The atmosphere is cozy, warm and intimate. The food is absolutely wonderful. I prefer the appetizers and combine them with whoever I am with to make up our meal. The BEST appetizer there and possibly the best I've ever had is called "Cowboy Sushi". Its a mock sushi roll but with sautéed beef and vegetables inside with a delicious spicy mayo sauce drizzled on top. I am tempted to literally drive to Jasper just for this dish. Other amazing appetizers include Holy Cow and Shrimp Pops. Every single time I go to Jasper I hit this restaurant because every single time it gives me great food, dining, drinks and great service service. It is a MUST visit! read more

We went to Evil Dave's after a local recommended their food. For the price we paid I would certainly not return. Service was average at best. The server came after about 10-15 minutes and gave us waters then said she would be back for our drink order once we had time to look at the menu. About 5-10 more minutes we ordered our drinks. They came within 10 minutes and we ordered our meals. I got the steak and for what you pay it was certainly not worth it. It was quite small and the sides were also very small. It did taste great, but I have never had a meal for more than $30 that did not fill me up. We would never return to this restaurant! read more

Cowboy Sushi and El Diablo were great. The space is small without much noise cancelling so we heard what everyone else was talking about. Beer choices were small but wine was good. The wifi didn't work. Service was very good. I would definitely go again. Around 9pm seemed like a great time since it emptied out after the normal dinner crowd. read more

We have eaten at Evil Dave's 4 different times and the food is always great, the atmosphere is cozy and great with kids. We were in Jasper last weekend and we skipped Evil Dave's on this trip due to menu still being the same. Would be awesome to see more wild game on the menu and switching up the chicken, salmon, prawns. read more

My husband and I are vegetarian so we tried the falafel and the prawn stir fry (with tofu instead of seafood) and they were fabulous meals! We got lucky!!! Second night in jasper. After a very disappointing dinner at yelp's #1 top suggestion restaurant in jasper, we just decided to roam around and take our chances. The name caught my eyes and at the time we passed the street, the restaurant didn't looked busy. We got in even tho we didn't have a reservation, thanks to our server Joan (not sure if it spelled right) she really look after us even tho she's busy... Food was excellent!!!! Ordered cowboy sushi and it's 10/10, my 7 yr old son ate it all!!! We really enjoyed that. For the main we did the family dinner thing on menu... Its a variety, of salmon, chicken, shrimp lollipop, holy cow, jasmine rice.. It was a good portion size for a party of 3. No left overs because it was oh soooo good. We still had space for dessert so we had the trio.. Again very tasty and serving size was just perfect for us.. A very good experience. Server was great and food was great. Evil Dave's has a great presentation of a full atmosphere - the building, the dining room and the menu all look amazing. The bathrooms are dim and dreary, not consistent with the rest of the space. The description of the food is fun and sounds delicious. The quality and quantity of the food both support a lower price point - lettuce for wraps was romaine rather than iceberg, unwashed, and starting to turn; meatloaf was small and dry; pop glasses were small. Although there's a large staff who are somewhat friendly they were not overly knowledgeable or attentive. Next time we will skip this stop. read more

I've been to evil daves twice now. The first time was amazing, food, service, and everything else in between was splendid. The second time though, our server was pretty bad, seemed like he kept forgetting us, for instance I ordered a bottle of beer and he forgot about it 3 times! he seemed more focused on the tables with 4 or more people. The food was still excellent, just I was disappointed after such an amazing first experience. I'd recommend to a friend still, but I'm only giving 4 stars because of the server, food was to die for! Love this place! My boyfriend and I decided to try out Evil Dave's for the first time last week. We started with the Holy Cow appetizer, and it was delicious! I also had their soup of the day, which was baked potato and boar bacon...very good! My boyfriend had the meatloaf which he loved! I had the kid's meal version of the typhoon noodles (wasn't super hungry), and it was also very good! For dessert we tried the carrot orange cheesecake. We almost ordered another one because it was so awesome! Definitely a place we will come back to next time we are in Jasper. The atmosphere was chill, and our server was awesome. I was really wanting to love this place, but it seemed like the food descriptions were more exciting than the real thing. Words like Malevolent, Fiendish, Diabolical were used, but the food itself fell short. The beef in the "Holy Cow" was SO NOT bulgogi. The chef should check out real korean bulgogi marinades for a better flavor. The fried green onion cake was too thick and chewy with not enough green onions. The "Evil Diva" salad was practically angelic. Such boring flavors you might think it came out of a ready made salad bag. The bison and wild boar meatloaf lacked excitement and flavor as well. All in all, I think it was mediocre at best. I'm glad others liked it because I'm sure it's not easy to keep a restaurant going in a resort town. They really should take each dish and assess it for flavor. read more

Location was easy to find (in the main shopping street of Jasper), but the restaurant was pretty 'dark'. My family and I have been going to Evil Dave's since it first opened in 2006, every time we are in Jasper (1-3 times a year). Its a little pricy, but the food is consistently amazing, year after year (I've been there probably 8 times myself). The service is always good or excellent, and even though they got a new chef this year and the menu changed somewhat, everything is still delicious. The food is presented beautifully, full of flavour, and the perfect portion size. They also change a couple dishes per year, and have interesting specials, so there is always something new to try. I have been meaning to write a review for years for Evil Dave's, personally it's one of the best (if not THE best) restaurant in this price range I've been to. I've been there on date nights with my partner, all the way to family groups of 12 people, and the atmosphere and decor is calming, intimate, and modern. **For people wondering about the description of tipping practices, this is aimed at tourists from countries where tipping is not common, or included in the price (e.g. Europe). It's not saying you must tip that amount, only what is customary if you receive good service. Also, for those saying "maybe it's expensive because its Alberta", it's expensive because its good! There are lots of cheaper places in Jasper to eat, and not all Albertans are rich! Plus there is a Tourism Tax specific to Jasper which isn't charged in the rest of Alberta, and it is actually optional (Yyou can ask to have it removed from your bill). read more

Great restaurant. We ate the tenderloin and the meatloaf, with the calamari to start. The calamari is as good as you'll get this far away from an ocean. The meatloaf was unbelievably tasty and the tenderloin was one of the best I've ever eaten, and I'm a steak fiend. I'll be going to Evil Daves every time I come back to Jasper. Atmosphere was nice and our waiter was awesome. I'd recommend Evil Daves to anyone. read more

My wife and I were in town for the night and we found Evil Daves on yelp. We made our reservation online and when we arrived we were seated immediately. The service was fantastic, they were very attentive and we never had to strain to get the waitresses attention. We ordered the brie as a starter, which I will admit was lacking. It was lukewarm but the crust was crunchy and delicious. Unfortunately the "apple compote" base was merely applesauce and the balsamic reduction was bland and tasted store bought. I ordered the special of the night, a full rack of ribs with slaw, mashed potatoes and fried onions. It. was. amazing. The ribs were tender and the sauce was unreal, we both raved about it that night and the next day. My wife ordered the Hell's Chicken and it came out luke warm and the veggies weren't cooked, but after mentioning it to the waitress she apologised and another plate was brought out within minutes which was done perfectly. She loved the meal and had no complaints. My only compliant would be that I had to wait for my wife's second meal to come out and my meal was cold by the time hers was ready. Overall I gave this restaurant 4 stars because our meals were delicious, the staff was courteous and prompt and we would definitely come back next time we're in town. read more

Ambiance of room, fabulous service, perfectly prepared drinks, and scrumptious food (with interesting, unusual flavor combinations). Calamari as a starter and falafel and meatloaf as mains. All amazing. Would suggest you go to Evil Dave's when you visit Jasper and make a reservation in advance. They got quite busy the night we were there, but we were not rushed at all!!
