The blueberry pancakes are amazing and I'm not normally a pancake person, but these were the best I've had anywhere. Ever.

Fabulous find in a small town outside of Valley Forge. Great breakfast. Proceeds goes to the local humane society. Your even greeted by a beautiful local tabby, who wont take notice for an answer til you pick her up snd listen to het purr. Great stop. read more

This place is adorable and such a great cause! All of the money from your meal goes to PALS (an animal rescue organization), and the workers are volunteers that are only supported by the tips they receive. The menu has lots of options for all dietary restrictions, and the food was great as well. read more

We came in after the Devon Horse Show for a quick lunch before heading home to DC. They kindly let us know they were closing in 5 mins but still offered to serve us. Really enjoyed my first visit here - will definitely return. Breakfast menu was varied, and had some great vegetarian and vegan options, which was surprising because it is such a small place but I was very happy to see them there. A really cool little off the track cafe with a purpose to it. We were in the area passing through and needed to get a bite. Thankfully our fellow elders had rated this gem pretty high and rightfully so. I had the turkey panini with Carmelized onions and havarti. It was soooo good. The house chips are ruffles and who doesn't like those! My wife had a salad with craisins, citrus wedges and goat cheese with grilled chicken. The portion was just enough for her and the poppy seed vinaigrette was really tasty. Overall it's. A great little cafe and they are a cafe dedicated to saving cats. Popped in for a spontaneous breakfast with my husband and toddler. The vegan banana french toast was delicious, as were the pancakes, and we enjoyed the free coffee refills. The Black Cat Cafe is an awesome concept. Proceeds from the meal and tips go to a cat rescue, which is a cause near and dear to our hearts. The food is quite good and reasonably priced. I believe I just got some eggs, home fries, and toast. All were adequate, and I would go back and get the same thing. Unfortunately, the service was painfully slow, and our server got pretty much all of our orders mixed up. It was fine because it all got fixed rather quickly, but, at a regular restaurant, it would have been unacceptable. So, don't go here for speedy service, but do go here if you like good food, helping animals, and friendly employees. read more

Went here with my wife and two friends. They took our reservation on a Saturday, and we were seated as soon as we arrived. The environment is very cozy, with different tables and chairs within a "home" like setting. The servers were all very nice, and quick to refill drinks, or any request we had. The food was absolutely delicious. My wife had the praline French toast, while I had an omelette. One of our friends is vegan, so she really enjoyed the menu (especially the banana vegan French toast). You can't beat the prices, service, menu, and environment. Enjoy a tasty meal and help save animals? I'm all for that! This restaurant is owned and operated by PALS (Pennsylvania Adoption and Lifecare Society) a cat rescue out of delaware county. All of the proceeds from Black Cat Cafe go right back into the rescue. In addition to breakfast and lunch you can also buy treats, toys, and accessories for your frisky feline - win! My mom and I just enjoyed a quick lunch. The service was not stellar, just a young student who sorely lacked experience, but for a casual lunch I was not going to complain. The food, however was outstanding! I enjoyed a caprese grilled cheese which was loaded with melted mozzarella, tomatoes, and spinach on toasted Le Bus bread. Yum! My mom had a chicken salad sandwich and a cup of the mushroom soup and also raved about it! The table next to us was really talking up the three bean vegan chili which I plan to try next time! The chef came out to check on us at the end of our meal - which is always a nice personal touch! I love the idea of a non-profit restaurant and I certainly hope it lasts - that part of Devon definitely could use some curb appeal! read more

Well I've still yet to eat at the Black Cat Cafe, but I did hear from one of it's managers because of my review (and a couple of cranks who decided I deserved passive aggressive "compliments"). This manager thanked me for bringing the problem to their attention, and was angry that this had occurred. As it was pointed out to me, when the cafe closes early it means that this organization takes in less money to help stray cats and dogs. The notes I received from the manager of the Black Cat Cafe gave me every reason to try this little cafe again and support their cause. Hopefully after eating here, I'll be able to add a few stars. read more

Holy cow! This place was so fun! So happy we stopped in. Menu was varied with assorted traditional breakfast items and lunch items. Also plenty of vegetarian items which was a plus for me! I am a sucker for tofu scramble so I ordered that with vegetarian sausage. My friend ordered eggs, bacon and potatoes. The food took a little while to arrive but that was okay because we read the reviews and expected that. And the servers were so nice and kept the coffee cups full. When the food finally arrived it was fabulous. Excellent tofu scramble! We were quite pleased. The restaurant is really cute. I felt like I was at my grandmothers home or something. And knowing that we are helping out a worthy cause made it even better. I left a tip in the jar at the counter and the waitress was very surprised and appreciative! read more

All hail the Duchess of this place (me!) I love this quaint (feels like grandma's house in there) little cafe in the heart of Devon on the main line. I have been going here for the past year or so and I have been trying everything on the menu. This place automatically gets 5 stars for the cause it stands for, the sweet ladies who service you & the food that is actually quite good- for the cheap price that is hard to find on the main line. Yes: Breakfast. Omelettes are great. Soups- the veggie chili and deifnitely all of the salads except...... No: Caesar salad- quite possibly the worst thing on the menu. It was all white romaine & generic dressing with croutons. Boooooring (& gross.) Again, a STEAL for main line dining- eating to save the kitties. Nestled in a group of homes off rt. 30 is this colorful, welcoming storefront that is the Black Cat Café, which opened early 2011. If you go on a Saturday, you might get lucky enough to meet a friendly, featured stray waiting to greet you with a wagging tail! After petting our new friend, we went into the café and were welcomed with a wonderful little store selling all sorts of pet-oriented items that opened up into two large eating areas. There's a little computer in the corner where you can search for a pet or fill out an application. The staff are some of the nicest I've met exploring the mainline town nestled off rt. 30. Don't waste your time going to retail chains when you can support your local merchants that are doing good for our homeless pet population. All proceeds in the café and store benefit local animal charities. Every room is decorated as if it were a welcoming B&B. tables are adorned with a frame of a homeless cat you can adopt. As far as food, the waitress told us that we can make anything to order besides what's on the menu. The menu (about two to three pages) has the standard lunch items you would find at any café and a menu of specialty sandwiches and dishes. The meals are diner prices in my opinion and not expensive. I had a wonderful mushroom soup, and my salad was falling off its plate delicious. My husband had a croissant turkey sandwich that was delicious as well. The details that stood out were how the waitress took care to make sure our order was straight. She also went to get length to take care of a couple with a child making a special order dessert of ice cream and fruit. You'll feel welcome and at home here. This quiet café is wonderful! Don't miss an opportunity to take your friends, family and colleagues to this special place that takes care to find homes for sickly and stray animals with its proceeds. This is great, I have no problem with this but the positive cause should be reflected in the score of a restaurant people go to to eat food. My mom and I visited and we were treated like family. Chef Judy makes the best food and the volunteers are so helpful. I can't believe I only had a meal and helped rescue cats. It not only was delicious but made me feel like I was doing something good eating there. The gift shop has very unique items and the cats there are adorable. My son loved the cat bobble head by the window and was thoroughly entertained by the coloring page and crayons offered to him! I've been visiting this place for more than 6 years. The food is delicious - it always tastes fresh and homemade. I especially like their quiches and omlettes. The best part? We happened to drive by this place by pure luck. We were going to go to the bagel place down the street, but it was too crowded so we took a chance on black cat cafe. We were not disappointed. The place feels like a homely bed & breakfast. It is run by a family who also are a part of a non profit cat rescue. Profits from the cafe go to help the rescue. The owners are very friendly and our food came out quickly. I got the signature french toast, and my girlfriend got the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. We both thought the food was very good and perfectly sized portions. I definitely would go back here for breakfast again. Dont drive by this place without giving it a try. read more

I'm such a non-foodie that I annoy others by saying things like "I eat just to stay alive." You could give me bricks of synthesized food and if they met my dietary needs I'd be fine with that forever. My five stars are for this restaurant being the only one I know of where you can dine with a friend and not have to shout to be heard and have to lean into your eggs to hear them. The restaurant industry learned years ago that customers spend more in noisy restaurants than in quiet ones so they don't consider doing anything to dampen sound. This makes sense from their view; they want young people who like lively places, can tolerate it, and will eat lots of food to keep their youthful metabolisms stoked. For those of us a little older (c'est moi!) who don't use hearing aids (yet) but have a little trouble hearing over background noise, the Black Cat Cafe is ideal. But don't worry; I've gone there with hip people in their twenties and they liked it very much. read more
