    Briskets in the smoker

Looking for dinner, I pretty much banged a u-turn on Lancaster Ave once I saw this roadside barbecue joint. Boy I'm glad I did. First of all, JT, the pit master, is a super nice guy who knows his stuff. But most importantly, that brisket of his is done to perfection. It isn't easy to do brisket right. But his hit all of the right notes. And that smoked armadillo egg... a cheese stuffed jalapeño pepper wrapped in a layer of sausage then a layer of bacon. Yeah, you want to eat one of those. Who knew a roadside shack would be one of the best places to eat on the Main Line?

Big E stopped in gave the Chicken, Brisket, and pork a try .no ribs ready so a little disappointed. Gotta say chicken half was one of better in the area I have tryed. Pork was very good and was moist tender had a nice taste of smoke and spice and stood by itself with no sauce. However the sauces all complimented the pork perfectly without overpowering the taste of the pork. Brisket had a good taste was moist not overcooked but I prefer to see a little more bark and smoke on my brisket.. definitely good brisket but not Franklin Bbq great. Definitely impressed enough will return to try ribs and look at brisket again as my serving was last slices of a brisket. Also worth the trip for another chicken half. Stop by give them a try and tell them Big E sent you.

JT Wilders Brisket Sandwich was love at first bite! Service was friendly, quick and seemed to be family owned. If you're located in/driving thru Devon, Berwyn, Wayne and the surrounding area, JT Wilders is definitely worth stopping for! Prices were very reasonable- $10 for a Brisket Sandwich and $4 for a small sized (packed full!) mac and cheese. Both were packed full of flavor and fresh out of the smoker.

Best ribs ever, the only mistake I made was not getting a full quart of the smoked beans!

Great South Carolina vinegar style BBQ. Reasonable prices, everything homemade. Absolutely will come back.

Great smoked meats. Jason really knows his stuff. Texas-style bbq. Takeout only. Also good for catering and events.

Brisket melts in your mouth yet has a delicious crust. Pulled pork is scrumptious. Sauces are delicious. Great, great bbq!

Awesome brisket. Friendly staff. They set up across from Whole Foods and it was dynamite! Jill took my order and she was a delight.

They do a lot of events and catering, but the meat they're pulling from their smoker is some of the best I've had.

TLDR: Galvinell Meat in Havre de Grace lives up to the hype. Massive, beautifully built hoagies,…read morefriendly staff, and a butcher counter full of unique house made offerings. Easily in the conversation for best hoagies in Maryland. This butcher has been on my short list for a while thanks to its recent fame in the Hoagie Gurus Facebook group, where their Old World Italian has become something of a legend. After finally making the trip, I can confidently say it deserves every bit of that buzz. We stopped in on a Saturday around lunchtime and the place had a steady flow of customers. My wife and I ordered the Old World Italian hoagie along with a hot roast beef and gravy grinder that was running as a special. While we waited, the staff was incredibly nice and helpful, and we took some time to browse their butcher case. Everything looked fantastic, and we ended up leaving with several packs of house made sausages that were too interesting to pass up, including a chicken crab cake sausage and a brisket cheddar. After a short wait, our subs were ready and they were both absolute units. Since they have a few two tops for the lunch crowd, we did not even make it to the car before digging in. The Old World Italian was exactly what I hoped for. Piled high with Italian meats and cheeses, sharp provolone, roasted red peppers, and prosciutto, all served on a sturdy yet soft seeded roll. The meats were perfectly layered so every bite was balanced and flavorful. No dead spots, no overwhelming salt bombs, just a beautifully constructed hoagie. The hot roast beef grinder was equally impressive. Freshly shaved beef, rich gravy, and melted provolone came together in a way that felt indulgent without being heavy. Comfort food done right. Between the quality of the sandwiches, the welcoming staff, and the incredible butcher offerings, Galvinell Meat is a destination. It is absolutely worth the drive and firmly belongs in any serious Maryland hoagie conversation.
