Ordered takeout and was pleased with the quality of the food. Ingredients are fresh and the recipes were delicious. A simple bacon, Swiss and onion omelette had so much flavor. It was packed with bacon! Though it was on the smaller side for $10 and no sides included. The omelette looked like just a two egg one. It was a little too buttery for me but not sure that would be a big deal to anyone. I'd recommend giving them a try! read more

We love elegance! And here's why: -fresh soups every day made from scratch and you can't go wrong regardless of day -fresh salads of all kinds including several types of spinach salad, chicken salad, and many more -the fruit tart- see my picture. I don't need to say any more!!! -We will always use elegance for birthday cakes. Get something that isn't the traditional mound of icing from the grocery store. If you need something, call ahead and see if there's anything in the case that will work. They will put your name on it and reserve it for you! (If you can't plan ahead like me) Lunch can be a bit busy. Try to come out of the lunch rush. They do the best they can but sometimes you might not be able to wait. Came in on a Saturday afternoon and was happy to see the place wasn't too busy like some of the other reviews mentioned. I ordered a chicken wrap and my wife got the tuna salad sammich. Both were super fresh and delicious. They even gave us a small cookie to go with our meals. I also enjoyed a nice cup of coffee which I was happy didn't have the typical burnt taste of Starbucks. Finally, the best part was the chocolate chip cookie. No one makes cookies as good as my grandmother until now. I can tell the baker here knows what they're are doing. I'm anxious to come back again to try more and I recommend others should to. read more

My boyfriend went to grab me two croissants (because their food is delicious). There were 4 people standing behind the counter, only one was assisting customers. This young male kept looking over his shoulder at the line but wouldn't turn around. He was in line for over 9 minutes before asking one of the workers behind the counter if he could get some assistance. There was hesitation from the staff, the one older woman who had been helping other customers took care of our small order. This place has great food but their employees would rather stand around then help the customers in front of them. I would expect much more from a business that is always so busy. read more

This little bakery in the Paoli Shopping Center was the perfect place to meet a dear friend for a little belated birthday lunch. There was a yummy looking tomato and cheese quiche on the counter and about a dozen or so tempting salads to choose from - greek, pasta, bowtie, chicken, fruit - they all looked fresh and wonderful and you can get them to go or eat there. We shared a chicken curry wrap and an order of pasta salad. The chicken curry was delicious - tender chunks of white meat chicken in a creamy slightly sweet and nicely spicy curry dressing and the wrap and tomato were nice and fresh too - the pasta salad was tasty with crisp broccoli, cauliflower, peppers and sliced olives (canned, didn't actually love them). We couldn't pass on dessert of course and tried a miniature pecan tart and a chocolate mousse cake. The tart was scrumptious - a buttery tender/crisp crust with yummy pecan filling that was just the right amount of sweetness. The chocolate cake was good too - again not overly sweet and very chocolaty. In addition to the lovely cakes and desserts there is a nice selection of fresh breads and rolls - french, sourdough, challah etc. There are muffins, various croissants, scones, cookies and brioche and sticky buns. They have a variety of iced teas and high end chips and there was regular, bold and cinnamon coffee on offer the day we went and it was decent. The staff was very nice and they divided our order onto two plates for us which was thoughtful. Now that I have found it I can see running in here for a morning coffee and pastry or lunch for a take away salad or soup and muffin - I'll definitely be back! *Here's a little next day postscript - I got two croissants to go so we could have them for breakfast today and while they were ok in a buttery roll kind of way they are definitely not made in a million layer, flaky traditional french croissant way. read more

I agree with previous reviews. This place is the perfect example of a pretty good place that could be so much better. I sampled a slice of quiche with bacon, some chicken pasta salad, and chicken orzo soup. Everything I had was pretty good. I'd also tell you that nothing here struck me as overly special. They did throw in a Linzer cookie on my plate as part of a combo. Nice touch. It was again pretty good. In fact it may be the best thing I ate on the plate. My grandmother goes to this bakery every day and brings me when I visit. Their Waldorf salad is great, the ingredients are substantial pieces (chicken, apple, grapes) and not minuscule like most places. I always get some to take home with me. The baked goods are always great and the staff is extremely friendly, but that may be because they know my grandmother personally and they do take extra special care with us when we visit. I think the prices are fair for the area, I saw some other people complained about $5 for two baked goods which seems perfectly normal to me for quality food. Jackie is a doll, she always serves my grandmother personally and brings her food out because she has some difficulty getting around. I just wish it were closer to where I lived so I could visit more often! read more

I stopped into Elegance Cafe this morning to grab a quick breakfast. I wasn't even sure they sold breakfast and I found out their options are fairly limited, since they open at 7am perhaps they should expand breakfast! Anyways, I was looking for the usual breakfast fare and I found something with eggs, cheese, bacon, and a flour-based base. Not a sandwich, a Quiche Lorraine! It was.... are you ready? ELEGANT! Oh geez sometimes I crack myself up. But really, it was quite tasty and a cool alternative. Well a few things before I give my review, I have been here for several years on a regular basis usually the service is good, but that was not the case last Thursday 2/22/2018 in the afternoon. When I go there I usually get their tangerine cake which I think is the best thing in the store. They have decent soups and day old brad that they sell for half off. Some of the bread have no salt which I like. It was my first time trying a wrap, served by a young boy (probably new and/or temp) a chicken wrap is what I got, he asked what I would like in addition, I said what are the option, he could not tell me the options although he was just looking at them, I said put lettuce (which he put spinach, and I was OK with that) and mustard. Check out the photo please, the wrap was all about the very thick cold wrap and very little of everything else, dry, not equally distributed. Perhaps it was his first wrap ever. Then an older gentleman continued to assist me. I got a few cookies a few salads, and he managed to pack the salad container inside the cookie paper bag and said that the cookies may break, excuse me! Of course they will break if you put them in the same paper bag, I took them out, was upset but hungry. I was even more upset after I took my first several bites into the wrap, what a terrible experience! This was not acceptable, not acceptable at all for this "French?" bakery. read more

Ever since we moved from San Francisco to Philaburbia, we've been living in an apartment complex near my work. The one nice thing about this complex is that they bring in muffins every day - not just any muffins, but the best muffins I have ever had in my whole life. Chocolate chip. Chocolate cream cheese. Blueberry. Cinnamon. Banana Nut. Every day I wake up and say I'm not going to have one - but, then I smell them and I can't resist. After months of this, I finally broke down and asked where they came from - Elegance Cafe. When I went to Elegance, I was a bit disappointed not to see a shrine to these muffins - instead, there are just a handful of them, alongside chocolate chip cookies (amazing... much better than they look), homemade chicken salads, fresh breads, etc. Everything I've had there has been very good. We got all of this food for $40 which is such a steal considering how much chicken was in the soup and the size of our potato salad container. Their tuna is amazing! I always get containers of it along with a few croissants to have for lunches during the work week! Delicious! I crave making croissant tuna sandwiches from here! I was meeting a friend for a quick bite to eat/meet. She suggested this place and I thought Hmmmm? Why not? I haven't been there in a while. I got there early so the line was not bad and ordered their 2 choice salad plate. I had the chicken salad and egg salad- roll and coffee on the side. My friend got the chicken salad and spinach salad combo. Well I have not been writing very complimentary Yelps lately and I'm relieved that I was happy with my meal. The chicken salad was made with grapes, celery, toasted walnuts, white chicken and they did not go heavy on the mayo. The egg salad was standard issue, but I got the feeling it was FRESH which is so important with egg salad and my stomach. My friends' spinach salad looked very tempting and I was sorry I did not choose that over the eggs. Next time. I also got a roll and butter and it was so good. Crusty on the outside and good on the inside and with the coffee- sigh. I was HAPPY. MIND YOU**** this is not a fancy place, not a starbucks, no bringing your computer and spread out. They took out the garbage cans just so they could put in another table. While we were sitting people walked in and met and greeted neighbors. The door opens and closes on the cold weather, but you somehow don't mind. During the warmer weather it will be so much nicer. As for the bakery section, I have had better I'm sorry to say, though their challah is very good. I like their quiches, their soups and salads are fresh. I love their quiche! I've ordered quiche on several occasions for work events and have never been disappointed. A quiche is $25 which seems expensive (and why I'm going with four stars); however, they are very filling and always right out of the oven. The food/desserts might be nice, but I was so turned off by the service I received that I left without anything today. I walked in towing a baby in a car seat. Both women at the counter saw me, but were busy which of course was fine. However, then a woman just cut in line and they served her, and they skipped over me and served another customer who was after me in line. When I was finally served, the Asian woman said what I wanted was from yesterday's menu and they didn't it have it. Why leave it on the board then?
