Came today for my 2nd visit ever. I must say that these handmade burgers are pretty good. Definitely worth the almost $7 dollars for the combo. The fries however had a funny taste. They tasted like they had a fishy fryness to them. Don't know if it may have been the type of oil they use. Service was pretty fast. It took about five or so minutes to get my order out. Parking sucks, so consider phoning your order for pick up. I would come back for the burger. I still have to try their pastrami. Burgers are tasty! read more

Alright, so I will not be returning here. The food wasn't terrible but the customer service was. Not only did they get my order wrong, they told me to my face that it was correct when I picked my food up. When I called to complain they were willing to fix the issue. HOWEVER, as I was getting ready to leave my house yet again to go pick up the fixed burger, they called me back saying I needed to bring the messed up burger back with me. Now I'm not someone who's looking to get something for free but I feel like they thought I was lying. And on top of that, it's covid right now and a restaurant shouldn't be taking back food to do what with it? Throw it out personally because their customers are so dishonest? I placed my order and the gentleman proceeded to pick up the pen, and pad to write my order, he then punched something onto the keypad of the cash register. Afterwards he toss 2 patties onto the grill. I called him over and asked " Shouldn't you wash your hands prior to touching food"? He respond by picking up a filthy, dirty towel to show me, as he said "I wiped my hands on this towel". I assumed the establishment had changed ownership, so I asked the young lady, she pretended as if she could not understand the English language. I gentleman I usually see in the eatery came up and asked what happened. I explained to him what transpired with the cook and myself. he said something to him in Spanish, and handed him another towel. This is an example where cooks should wear gloves at all times when handling food items, and wash their hands constantly. I have been patronizing The Big Burger since 2017, but this is my last visit. I was excited to try this place as I'd heard good things, but I was highly disappointed. The burger and fries were nothing special. However, the main reason for the review is that I found not one, not two, but three strands of hair that were definitely not mine. Two of the strands were together which seems even grosser to me than just finding a random one which sometimes is understandable. Stuff happens. Every time I come here my son's 5 year old and 9 year old say these are "DA BOMB" Burgers and they usually never like hamburgers at all. I had lunch at the Big Burger in Carson, CA on 10/26/2014. It was my 1st time there. I've driven by it many times because it is right next to the StubHub Center. I had their burger topped with pastrami for $5.78. Cheese was .50 cents extra. My Snapple half & half cost $1.79. I thought it was funny when the girl behind the counter told me I was number 79 (I was the only customer in the place at the time!). I love this place. I only come for the burgers nothing else on the menu, why would you not order a burger at a burger joint? This place has called Carson home for so long and I'm glad to be a Carson Native otherwise I don't think I would've ever known about this spot. It's hard to come by authentic burger joints in the area and I have to say this is one of them. The prices are low and the meals give you a good stuffing. The taste overall is delicious, I don't think you can ever go wrong getting a burger here than anywhere else. Whenever I'm in the mood for a burger (which is not often), I head over to Big Burger. I always get the Big Turkey with cheese, it's huge and not dry as some turkey burgers tend to to be. The burgers are cooked to order, with a choice of the usual condiments. Also bacon, egg, avocado, or chili is offerred at an additional cost. The fries are decent and they are always hot. Since there is lunch crowd you may want to call your order in and it will be waiting when you arrive. From the outside, this burger joint looks like an unassuming place in a little corner plaza down the street from CSUDH. But when you go inside, the place is pretty immaculate with an easy-to-follow menu. My wife ordered the cheeseburger combo meal ($4.99, which includes fries & a drink). I thought the burger patty was "Big Mac thin," but otherwise, the taste was pretty good, especially since the buns were lightly toasted. And the lettuce was shredded, which is a nice touch compared to big honking leaf lettuce pieces. The french fries were surprisingly delicious, crispy, and golden brown. The only thing was that the meal came with a puny amount of them. I'm not sure if the drinks are free refills or not, because I was kind of afraid to ask since the cashier is Asian (aka, cheap - I can say that because I'm Asian and cheap myself). Not many places offer turkey burgers and if they do, it's usually frozen patties that are tasteless and even fewer hamburger joints offer wheat bread. This is a hole in the wall place in north Carson (D.A.) that could use some serious interior decorating but....they serve a damn good burger. Both turkey and beef patties are seasoned well. All burgers come with the standard toppings of lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, onion. For a nominal fee, they also offer optional toppings such as chili, bacon and/or fried egg. Depending on what time you arrive, expect a wait of at least 20 minutes. It gets busy. They get a lot of call ins for big orders. They have burger combos with an option of a fountain drink and fries or a bottled drink and chips. I recommend the latter because their fries are terrible (semi stale & flavorless). read more

This place does not look like much and if you blink you might miss it, but the food is solid. And the prices were VERY reasonable. This used to be fat burger. About 20 to 25 years ago fat burger had the best turkey burger. Specifically at the location on Centinella near Ladera heights in Los Angeles. Unfortunately that one closed down and most of the now "chain" fat burgers have very generic tasting food and their turkey burger is bland. It almost seems like the original fat burger recipe was "sold" to big burger. I mean nothing will ever compare to the original FB that was on Western Ave in L.A. Meanwhile when I'm in the L.A. /Carson area I tend to make a point to stop at BB to get their Turkey burger & (fat) fries. Personally I would never eat inside. It's not appealing. After seeing the reviews, I had no choice! ;) I had the perfect excuse, because I needed to stop by Dominguez Hills, and whadya know, this place happened to be right across the street. Now I had no excuses!! I phoned in ahead (from across the street). The nice lady said 10 minutes...okee dokee. I ordered 2 turkey burgers with cheese to go (one for my hubby). It was already bagged ready to go when I got there. Wow. Amazing speed, haha. I thought the turkey burger was okay. The reason I say this is that I had the idea the patty would taste more seasoned, but it still had too much of a "turkey" taste for me. But the toppings were tasty! I got everything on it, and it was delish. My husband liked his. He said it wasn't the best burger he ever had, but he liked it. The turkey is good for a healthy alternative, but next time I will try the regular cheeseburger. The regular size patty was enough for me, but if you like more meat, they offer larger size patties for an additional cost. I didn't get any sides this time. Everyone said the fries were bland, so I skipped them. Who knows, maybe I'll try them next time with the beef. I can admit , it may not sound the best but it sure does taste great. Until this following day, I continue to go to big burger and order the same turkey burger combo with an egg. The joint isn't that big, its just enough room to stand in line , get your food and be out! You have an option of staying in to eat, but I recommend that you go home and enjoy it. I hadn't eaten all day and had to pick up my boyfriend from work so I googled the nearest greasy restaurant on our way home from Dominguez Hills. I don't normally order turkey burgers but all the rave reviews convinced me. I honestly could not taste the difference between that and a beef burger due to how well it was seasoned. I added avocado and cheese and it was amazing. It's not a fancy place with a few stools and tables for 2. They guys working there are nice. They were talking to my bf about the World Cup. I just experienced very bad customer service. I went inside and ordered a double turkey burger with cheese and I wanted the lettuce and tomatoes on the side. The young man said he will not serve it to me that way. He said either you take it this way with everything on it or do not take it at all. I then requested to talk to the manager. Or giving us our drinks. Had to "ahem" a couple times to get their attention in a totally empty restaurant, and had to walk up and ask for my drink that was sitting between them while they chatted. I might be cranky after a long day of travel, but I've also got a busted ankle and hanging around waiting while a couple of teenagers play footsie didn't help.
