Been coming to Famous Cafe for over 20 years and they still have my absolute favorite chili cheese fries. This casual diner is a local staple. Service is quick and easy, and it's also super convenient that I can call in my order for takeout when I leave the office and pick it up on the way home. The chili cheese fries are packed with hot, crispy french fries, covered with delicious chili, and oozing with melted cheese. The only downside is the price going up compared to 10 or 20 years ago, but that's just the norm with inflation. Yes, the food is someone greasy when you order fried food but isn't that why it's called fried food? Despite all the super-biased hate by many people with less than 20 "reviews" on their "profile"..... ; Famous Cafe has to honestly be one of the best damn locally owned restaurants ever! I remember going here as a kid with my father eating breakfast every weekend while watching their TV at the back. It can get so packed during the morning because their breakfast deals are so random and affordable. Famous has been uniting Greek and Mexican workers for decades while doing such a fantastic job treating their multi-cultural fan base for so many years. They used to have a bunch of old Carson-related black and white pictures hanging around this place. I sort of wish they still did too because it made things more homely. CORONAVIRUS ERA - With this "new normal" ...Famous has been top notch when it comes to quality, speed and service! I mean damn... one of their cooks has been there for a long time, but he gets my food done super fast! They even keep things extremely clean and sanitized with Purell-like containers around out of safety/courtesy. If you look at all the pictures I posted, you can see some of my favorite meals. My go-to as a kid, was a nice bacon cheeseburger with their tasty zucchini fries with their homemade ranch. The new, beautiful young, strong female cashiers (along with the older ones) do a kick ass job as well because they know how to balance great customer service with getting sh*t done. Parking is never a hassle unless it's a busy weekend and the strip mall is packed...; which is normal. Always look at their windows and signs for random specials!!!! Terrible, terrible, bad, awful service. The cashier woman with a nasty short Karen hair style has a matching nasty attitude. I just got back from there and I had to share it with you guys. I got bad vibes from her as soon as I walked in. I can tell she was flustered. I don't see why, as there was just 1 person in front of me and none behind me. My son wanted a burger with fries and a drink. I said no drink because of the sugar you know. Plus it's usually another dollar or so. If she had told me the differnce would be 16 cents, I may have changed my mind. So I asked her why she hadn't informed me. She said she can't "keep telling people" pointing aoround the place. I told her, "It would be good customer service if you did." I guess she would rather give crap service. I feel sorry for the other workers here. We were of a group of 2 couples having had many breakfast here at this burger place. On Sept. 5, 2021,Sunday around 7:10 am we were met by this very rude lady who she says was the server. She said that the place was not opened yet but it was past 7:00. It seems that this lady who did not like to tell her name when asked was there. Food is awesome! They have tacos for under 2$ they are small tacos but it's all good! Delicious sauce that goes with it, I usually stop by here all the time and the people in front are always kind and you get your food pretty fast. The only ick I had when it came to the food being prepared was the cook using his bare hands when touching the meat to put it on the grill! I have no idea where his hands have been and where it's going to be after but if that's a common thing then im sure all the food is being touched by everyone else's food and getting dirty in between, but as long as he's washing his hands 100 times a day between preparing the meal then it should all be good. So the cold, hard truth is that almost all these eclectic charburger joints in Carson are highly similar in quality and food choices. What separates Famous Burgers from other charburger restaurants are their specials. For instance, I got a manager's special which is a hamburger and fries for just $3. Other specials include 2 eggs, 2 bacon or sausage, hashbrowns, and toast for $4 or a gyro plate that includes white rice, salad, pita bread, and tzatziki sauce for $7.30. The hamburger I received is definitely smaller from other charburger places I've been to and it was supplemented with small fries. This meal plus a corn dog came out to be around $5.50 and it was just enough to satiate my hunger. read more

I also ordered a junior cheeseburger for my daughter. The chili cheese fries were really good. I ordered it with onions and they put plenty of onions, just the way I like it. My daughters junior cheeseburger was really good. The burger had thousand island sauce, shredded lettuce, tomato, and a juicy patty. Service at the counter was friendly. No attitude. This has been my go-to spot for many years. Food is great and it's nice to see the upgrades made throughout the years. Excellent staff and a chef that's been there as long as I know (has to be around 15 years). Great burgers, but the breakfast and chili cheese fries are the winners for me!
