Food is tasty but expensive, vibe is very nice, with nice decorations and jazz in the background. Service is also good.

Came here for my birthday dinner and was very happy with the whole experience and the food. The waitress was very attentive and came to ask us if we needed more food or drinks at the perfect times. We started with drinks and 3 apps for a group of 6 and finished with 3 larger plates which were perfect. The live music in the background was great ambiance and good vibes all night.

Pricey food, decent drinks, and great venue/live music. I got the Garlic Shrimp appetizer. It was quite tasty and the shrimp were super tender. However, it was a meager portion size (only 3 shrimp...) for $24!! Cocktails were strong but didn't taste unique. The live music was solid but only started at 10 PM. Service was pretty spotty too. It was around a 20 min wait for a party of 6 at 9:20 PM on a Friday

This little underground club in the Boston Center for the Arts is a fabulous place to hear live music. Tuesday nights the performers are Berkeley College of Music faculty, and other nights have jazz, American standards, and generally great sounds while you're enjoying a meal and/or a delicious cocktail. Note: you "may" have a 7% surcharge on your bill, to help pay for the music. We had a party of 8 dining; over 6 you'll also get a hefty 22% fee added to your bill. So, be prepared - you're going to pay more than you may realize. One star removed for the 29% fee (I could see one surcharge, not both)! Cocktails were inventive, and very good. Our food was beautifully plated and presented. We started with a few orders of the grilled artichokes. They were nicely charred, but a touch too oily. The dipping sauces added great flavor. I had the grilled salmon, which was perfectly cooked. Accompanied by quinoa, a tzatziki with radishes? This was one super flavorful and elegant plate! Others had the risotto, swordfish, or the fusilli (with no sausage). We all agreed - the food was really good. The desserts? Fab-u-lous; we tried them all. Favorites were either the chocolate pot au crème of the bread pudding, with 1 vote for the cheesecake. Even with live music, we could easily talk since we were in the @front" room, with the bar. Seating in the room with the stage might make conversation less possible.

Came here on a dinner date, but were a little disappointed. First the pros; we were sat at a two top at the top floor railing overlooking the jazz band. Originally our view was a bit blocked but the waiter encouraged us to move over a table when we asked. Also, the food came out fairly quickly and the portions were large! So you won't leave hungry. However, we were so excited for the live music, but the band only played for the first and last 10 minutes of our dinner... even though we shortly after the music began. It also took forever to put orders in and were waiting for our drinks and the check for a while. The food was good but not anything to write home about (swordfish entre and brisket entre). I like the vibe enough to return. It's cozy and perfect for the fall/winter season. I'd want to try sitting downstairs next time as the view to the band is better and drinks all were intriguing (we opted for espresso martinis tonight)

My wife and I visited for dinner and jazz and really enjoyed it! The food and drinks were great and the staff were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was really fun with the live jazz. This can be a on the pricey side but we thought it was well worth it. I would definitely recommend visiting.

A Boston favorite. I have been here about 5 times. Every time there has been exceptional food, service and music. The food is always delicious, I recommend their seasonal variations of the tuna tartar, mussels or pasta. The service is kind and attentive. Something to note is the entertainment fee and the restrictions for the amount of time a party can spend at a table. Also make sure to check the music schedule on their website before booking a reservation. Great for special occasions or a date night!

I came to The Beehive with a small group (3) and enjoyed my experience. Our server Ronald was phenomenal! He was able to advise on the menu with all of my allergies, was very kind and checked in on us enough to keep a pulse but not so much we felt rushed. I really enjoyed having him as a serve and hope to have him again soon. For the food, we ordered the whipped ricotta to start, and then split 3 mains: the lamb ragu, butternut squash risotto, and the mussels. The whipped ricotta was enough for 3, I think could be good for 4 people as a nice way to taste the flavors. The 3 entrees were good overall. The other two in my party said the risotto was their favorite, mine was the lamb ragu. The risotto was very fresh and light. I felt the balance between citrus and the savory flavor of the squash was very good. The ragu was yummy and I liked how acidic it was. It was a nice surprise and kept the dish light in my opinion. Also the gnocchi was perfect!!! Atmosphere wise, we were sat at the front in the inside. The space is very nice and despite being near the entrance, we didn't feel like chaos was happening. It was easy to have conversation and enjoy the evening. I didn't explore the rest of the restaurant but I would like to see the downstairs on my next visit

This place is very cute and unique. We came here for brunch. The food is good and the music was fun. The service is very nice. I 100% recommend having a reservation. The only negative is the tables are very small so we didn't have a lot of room. Better for a date a a few people, was cramped for our group of 5.

Great ambiance and music . Service is fast and people are friendly. menu is diverse. They did run out of items . Not designed to be a high end restaurant but if you're looking for a good music venue with quick bite then you will like it .

Pro Tip: Go for the show, not for several drinks. No cover or reservation needed, but may be faced with a line to enter. Haven't been here for 10 years and, while we enjoyed the show and talent, the drinks were certainly not as they used to...instead, too pricey and too sweet or filled with ice. Enjoyable, if expectations are not high and, rather, enjoyed with the pleasant entertainment. I remember brunch was a good time back in 2014, but could not speak to quality today.

Had a delicious brunch here for Fathers Day! The live music was a great touch and the ambiance was very vibey and laid back. The food was also very good- got passion fruit mimosas, a chicken sandwich, and the yummiest coffee cake!! I tried everyone else's food as well and the brisket eggs Benedict were delicious.

Truly nothing special here. The inside is very pretty I will say that. The service is just okay and the food was also just okay. The menu is short which I usually appreciate but it was hard finding something enticing on the menu so I went with the American breakfast. Phone didn't eat first, that's how you know presentation was just okay. The service is fast here so if you're in a hurry they're good. Toast came dry, sausage wasn't great, they cooked the eggs perfect and the potatoes were great. My friend didn't like her meal that much either.

Ask the Community - The Beehive

Whst do you recommend for parking?

There's a lot of street parking in the South End you may have to circle a couple time or walk a bit further

Is this ok for kids?

It's kinda small inside and tables are close together. It's a cafeteria atmosphere. There were families with kids dining when we were there. I would say kids are not a problem.

What time is brunch served until on Saturday?

2 pm

Do they have bottomless mimosas for brunch?

No, they actually don't have bottomless anything. It's not allowed in the State of Massachusetts

A very popular, long-established Greek restaurant in Boston. Last time I walked in and was told…read morethere would be a two-hour wait, but this time I made a reservation and finally got to enjoy a delicious meal! Tiropita Rolls: Very straightforwardly delicious. The bread was warm, soft, and airy, with a rich aroma of butter and cheese; the spread was a rich blend of honey butter, and olives, sweet and delicious, perfect as an appetizer. Tzatziki: A slight disappointment. The cucumber and Greek yogurt spread was surprisingly heavy, a bit cloying, and the pickled kumquats weren't as sweet as I expected, but rather had a slightly bitter taste. The pita bread was thick and soft, probably better suited for dipping in soup--like Bourdeto--than for the spread. Bourdeto: The tomato fish soup was a pleasant surprise. The freshly caught grouper of the day was thick and tender, lightly seared to create a crispy crust. The broth was a vibrant, tangy tomato base, with onions, fennels, and red peppers contributing a sweet, layered flavor. Trahanas, fermented wheat and dairy, added richness and a smooth texture to the soup. The broth also had a slight spiciness, making it incredibly comforting on a chilly autumn day. Portokalopita: The dessert that elevated the entire meal. A traditional Greek orange phyllo, the cake, made from crumbs of phyllo pastry, becomes incredibly soft and moist after being soaked in orange syrup. Every bite was bursting with rich orange sweetness and fragrance, followed by a slightly bitter orange zest--perfectly balanced. Paired with Manouri cheese ice cream, the creamy flavor was incredibly rich and creamy, creating a harmonious and layered flavor profile.

We chose to sit outside; it was a chilly fall evening when we went last year, but we got some lap blankets which was a nice touch, so brownie points for service. My friend and I split the pastitsio (meat pasta dish), kotopoulo (a chicken dish), louza charcuterie, and tiropita (halloumi rolls). The rolls were stuffed with halloumi and were dense in the best way possible. Coupled with the louza charcuterie, the appetizers were a hit. The two entrees were small but mighty - they were packed with rich meats but also featured microgreens, herbs, and other tangy, bold flavors that really balanced the dishes. We got some glasses of Greek orange wine that I can't remember the name of but it paired excellently with the food per our waitress's recommendation. Overall, a solid Greek option if you're in Back Bay! But definitely make a reservation if you can.

So, I decided to treat myself to a solo lunch. I began with the mixto ceviche, which was a refreshing and vibrant dish. The fish was exceptionally flavorful and perfectly complemented the onion and peppers. The shrimp was fresh, full of flavor, while the octopus was a bit tough, still enjoyable. The sauce was a tad heavy and thick for my taste, and the portion size was a bit small considering the price. On the bright side, the chips were light and incredibly tasty. I also ordered the Costillas de Cerdo. The sauce was excellent, and a few bites were oh so good. The disappointment came in the ribs themselves -- the meat didn't come off the bone easily, which made working through the dish more effort than it should have been. This place truly impressed me with its exceptional service, especially considering my allergies. My server proactively approached the kitchen and communicated directly with them, demonstrating remarkable attentiveness and care. Their prompt response and willingness to accommodate my needs without any hassle made a significant difference. The friendly and accommodating nature of the server throughout the entire dining experience made it feel effortless to enjoy a solo meal. Three stars for now -- great flavors and genuinely caring service, with a few misses on execution and portion for the price.

I suppose given its smallish size, you could consider it a cafe... small in size, smallish in menu, big in variety, flavor, service. It works, no one around us seemed rushed to get through their dinners. Cocktails are limited but delicious. The menu is somewhat small as well. Instead, I went with an evening special, lamb chops and sauteed spinach on a bed of pureed parsnip. We also asked for an appetizer of their brussels sprouts to be served as a side. The waitress said sure, but the sprouts still came out quite a bit before our meals. We said we'd be good and have only one each and save the rest for dinner. FAIL! Crisped just right, served with celery salad, and a properly spicy sauce, I think we finished them in less than 3 minutes. The dinners were equally satisfying. We passed on dessert foods and drinks, but if we had had room, there were lots of tempting items. Because of the restaurant's size, reservations are not a bad idea at busier times.
