Short rib pasta

Conveniently located and nice atmosphere, located within the hotel. Our waitress was great but we had a little mixup with our food order first off. They don't have a kids menu which was unfortunate because it would be convenient to have the whole family eat here especially for hotel residence. We asked for a hamburger plain and we received a cheeseburger we noted that our son wouldn't eat it with cheese. They took it back and when they brought it back to our table, we noticed that all they did was peel off the cheese, and it was melted onto the meat. It was also expensive, a $33 burger no matter if you get all the fixings or not. The food was not bad. We did have to ask for the hotel guest discount to be applied, they did not ask and then had to give us an adjusted bill.

Love the ambiance! Classy, service and food were great! Recommended this to my sister and we had a great time for her birthday too! Reservations are needed.

Delicious lobster bites on crispy polenta, garnished with roe. These were amazing.

The Scarlet Vetter says....Everything I am in Boston I stay at the Harborside Hotel on State Street, mainly because my job requires that I do work across the street from the hotel, and it's very convenient. A nice benefit of the hotel is the restaurant inside of it with a beautiful, long bar. Excellent bartenders abound and an added bonus of twenty percent off your food bill if you stay at the hotel and eat in the restaurant. During the summer, it has a beautiful outside patio. The restaurant has a great low key vibe. I have never been disappointed in the food or the service.

Had a great experience at Joia! The Porcini Pillows were an incredibly delicious entree. Other standouts included the Meatballs & Ricotta appetizer & Tiramisu for dessert! Their signature Joia spritz cocktail was also delicious. The interior has an upscale, dark & moody vibe that seems like it would make for a great late night spot. Joia is centrally located in downtown Boston and has a cute, covered patio as well. The staff was so kind and attentive & provided great recommendations from the menu. I'd love to come back and try more of their wonderful offerings!

Extremely fancy and delicious! We came with a large party for dinner. The team spoke mostly Italian. The waiter was helpful, but the support team dropped the ball. We ordered a variety of pasta dishes. The support waiter gave the wrong dish to the wrong person. We didn't realize it till all of the plats came out and it was halfway gone. They fixed the mistake, but actively ignored our table for the rest of the meal till it was time for the check. They didn't ask if everything was ok after, didn't refill drinks and it felt awkward. Good food, but not worth the price. The portions were tiny too, and I eat like a bird!

A few steps from our hotel. I was really craving eggplant parm, but a festival in North End prevented me from dining there. Defeated, I decided to grab a quick salad or appetizer at Joi'a. I was thrilled to see eggplant involtini on the menu. Ordered that with the Black Dahlia cocktail. Pleased with both offerings. The music was good. Loved being seated in the window with the table and chairs. Service was great.

Wow what a spectacular Sunday brunch experience at Joia Boston. From the moment we sat down the atmosphere was upscale yet relaxed making it the perfect spot to enjoy a long brunch. The truffle ravioli was rich and indulgent with a perfectly balanced truffle flavor that did not overpower the dish, while the steak tips were tender flavorful and cooked just right. Every cocktail we tried was thoughtfully crafted and absolutely delicious, easily one of the highlights of the meal. The overall vibe was ideal for catching up and spending time with a friend, and it truly felt like a place you could linger and enjoy. I will definitely be back to experience dinner here. The food earns a strong 9 out of 10 and the drinks are a clear 10 out of 10.

We happened here by accident. We had a group of 8 on a busy December evening and Joia was the only spot that could accommodate all of us. The space is beautiful and even more so with the decor for the holidays. The group only ordered drinks, but all were happy with their choices. I had an espresso martini that was fantastic - smooth and full of flavor, as well as a glass of wine. Our server was friendly and attentive. Can't speak to the food menu, but would definitely recommend as a stop for drinks for date night or with friends.

I was staying in the adjoining hotel for a few nights and decided to try this restaurant for dinner. The restaurant offers hotel guests a discount. My server was so helpful. He gave me the best suggestions. I also used the inkind app to get an additional discount. I had the mushroom ravioli, they started me off with bread, I had soup, and a dessert. I only paid $65. I also had a pistachio martini that tasted amazing. I would definitely go back here if I were in the area. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and felt like you were at a black tie affair just sitting there.

Great wine choices!

The food, the service, and the atmosphere are fantastic! I like the fact there were comfortable chairs, music wasn't too loud, and there were standard tables.

Only had dessert to go staying in the hotel. The dessert was incredible. I had the lava tortino fabulous ice cream. Fabulous! Fresh strawberries molten chocolate cake. Unbelievable. The vibe in the place is gorgeous. I have pictures of the entire inside of the restaurant. The food was great. The staff was amazing

Stopped by Joia for the first time at a private party and I got a chance to try the espresso martini and brunch spread. The restaurant had a really nice decor and good vibes. The martini and the food was ok but they didn't make the espresso martini with espresso.

Tiramisu

Great dining experience. Went here with a bigger party (i think 20ish people) and we were all accomodated for in terms of both food and service. We got appetizers for the table so I'm not too sure what each were. One was like a sushi roll, one was bruschetta, and a caesar salad. My meal was the cacio e pepe with shrimp. It was delicious and so thoughtfully prepared. YUM. Desserts we got the lava cake and the tiramisu. Both were also really delicious and well prepared. Worth the price forsure!

Once you get in, there's a small lounge area on the left and then a larger lounge area straight ahead where the bar is. They have small tables with couches and local artwork ond display. For their drinks, their mixed drinks are average, but they only had 3 beers on draft which was a disappointment. They do serve some bar food and snacks, but like the drinks they're overpriced. I've been here twice and there's usually a wait for the rooftop. Once on a Saturday I was quoted up to a 3 hour wait that was actually 45 minutes and on a Sunday it was a 15 minute wait. I put my name down and got a friendly text when my turn was up. The view is pretty good, but not the best since it's not by the water so it's mostly looking at the city and large apartment complexes. The rooftop is small with 4-5 tables, a TV, and some seats. It seems like they allow around 40 people in at a time. Overall, this a cool place to hang out with friends this summer!

It is super well-priced at $15/person for 1.5 hours of gameplay which is more than enough for 2 people. They have a bunch of interactive dart games, including classic, and we were able to play all of them multiple times. Additionally, they have Rookie/Normal/Pro lines on the ground so you can choose where to stand and you don't have to be a professional dart player by any means to play these games. The staff is also super friendly. The only concern I had was that the staff wasn't super attentive to our dart table, so despite us clicking the request service button a few times, my girlfriend had to head to the bar to get our drinks and start a tab. My girlfriend's drink was not good either... it was a vodka mixed drink with a salt rim and it was just too salty. It would've been much better with a sugar rim I think. Other than that though, it was an amazing time and I'd highly recommend Flight Club for a date night, outing with friends, or corporate event!

The atmosphere was on point, and the music selection only made the experience better. Every song fit the vibe perfectly and added to that cool, hidden-gem feel. It happened to be trivia night, so people were already lining up near the screen getting ready to compete. We had only flown into the city a few hours earlier, so we opted to sit in the other room for a quieter evening. Not a complaint at all. The energy was fun to watch, but we were definitely in relaxation mode after traveling. There was also a conference happening at a nearby hotel, so the place filled up quickly. Even with the crowd, the bartender taking care of us remained incredibly attentive, checking in often and never making us feel forgotten. Excellent service in a busy room always stands out. We ordered three cocktails and every one was delicious. The Coconut Confidential was creamy and refreshing, basically a liquid piña colada. The Velvet Elvis packed a punch with the Jack Daniel's and Chambord. My favorite of the night was the Sassy Cactus Sip. The prickly pear flavor was fantastic and had me wishing I ordered a second. For food we shared the garlic broccoli, pretzel bites with cheese, and the artichoke dip with chips. Unexpectedly, the real MVP was dipping the broccoli into the artichoke dip. It absolutely hit the spot.

We went around 8:30 pm…read morewhich meant street parking was free and thankfully we found one around the corner a few feet away. They do offer outdoor seating but given that it was slightly drizzling and extremely windy, we stayed inside. We sat at the bar and I ordered Nick's world famous cocktail ($18) while she ordered the afterglow ($20). Nick's was a little thick and almost had the consistency of a puree. It was not too strong or sweet but still fruity tasting. Instead of a garnish, there was a picture of a Nick clothe pinned to the side. We weren't too hungry, so we ordered a couple of small plates: the tuna tartare and the feta 2.0. This place is actually perfect for snacking / light meals since their menu is a modern take on "Meze," or small shareable plates (think tapas). The tuna tartare was incredible. The fish, cucumbers and tomatoes tasted very fresh, but the star of the show was definitely the sauce which I think was a mixture of ponzu, togarashi, and cilantro tzatziki. It was spicy, but slightly creamy, but very herby and light. I loved that the pita chips were crispy; they paired well with the dish and they brought out a good ratio of chips to tartare. The feta cheese was also good. It was wrapped in crispy phyllo and topped with honey and sesame seeds. The honey provided a slight sweetness but not enough to overpower the salty and sharp taste of the fresh feta. This plate does not come with anything which was kind of odd so we asked for pita on the side. I wish we had asked for warm pita, or baked pita because it was a little dry. I was impressed with the flavors and quality of each dish as well as the attention of the servers and staff. There's a relaxed vibe as the lights are dim and interior design is classy.

Empire Boston: Amazing Food, Frustrating Service & a Birthday Plot Twist!…read more While visiting my sister in Boston, she treated me to a belated birthday dinner at Empire. I'd checked the Yelp reviews beforehand and wasn't impressed, but it was too late to cancel our reservation. Little did I know, the evening would turn into a whole production -- literally! Let's start with the service because WHEW! We changed our reservation from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m. and received confirmation, only to arrive and be told we were late. Despite showing proof, the hostess said she couldn't see the change and offered us seats in the bar lounge, warning we'd need to eat quickly because the tables would be removed at 10 p.m. for their late-night party. After waiting nearly 10 minutes without service, I spoke to the hostess, who suddenly found us a proper dining table. Great! Except we waited ANOTHER 10 minutes for our server. Thankfully, a barback brought us water. Small victories! Now, the food? THAT was the saving grace! My sister ordered a Lychee Martini, while I went with the Pink Lotus, which was STRONG and much appreciated after that seating debacle! For appetizers, we enjoyed the Wagyu Truffle Gyoza and Blackened Tuna with crispy sushi rice. Both were delicious! For entrées, we shared the Sriracha Buttermilk Chicken with truffled potatoes and Drunken Noodles loaded with shrimp, scallops, and calamari. We also added garlic bok choy because what's dinner without a green vegetable? Everything was absolutely wonderful! The flavors, presentation, and execution were excellent. Honestly, the food earned Empire an additional Yelp star despite the rocky start. Then came the birthday plot twist! By 10 p.m., the restaurant was transitioning into its late-night party scene. The music was getting louder, the crowd was growing, and I was ready to GO! We noticed staff singing and carrying birthday signs to other tables. When our server offered dessert, I quickly declined. After a suspiciously short bathroom trip by my sister, the birthday singing started AGAIN. I told her, "Let's pay and GO!" Except this time, the singing and flashing lights stopped RIGHT AT OUR TABLE! I turned around to see a giant birthday sign with MY NAME and an elaborate dessert platter! My sister had arranged the entire surprise in advance, which explained why canceling wasn't an option. The complimentary platter featured Triple Chocolate Cake, Fried Ice Cream Sundae, and Coconut Flaming Baked Alaska. Everything was delicious, and we took most of it home for my brother-in-law. Despite the frustrating evening, the birthday presentation was beautiful and incredibly thoughtful. Final verdict? Great food, beautiful surprise, but disappointing service. Our server was pleasant and doing his best while juggling several large groups, but the overall experience was poorly managed. Between the reservation confusion, seating issues, long waits, and pressure to finish before the late-night party, it simply wasn't the upscale experience I'd expect at these prices. Empire delivered on the food and birthday celebration, but the service and overall value fell short. Would I return? No, thanks! But shoutout to my sister for pulling off such a thoughtful surprise despite the chaos. She understood the assignment, even if Empire didn't quite deliver on theirs!
