This rooftop has amazing views of the harbor but that's about it. The food, drinks, and service were just ok. We visited on a Friday night and the place was PACKED. I made a reservation for a table and was told to check in at the hostess stand. We were standing there for a while before someone finally came to seat us. There were also multiple groups that had been waiting. The food reminded me of frozen food. It came out room temperature and was not very good. The drinks were decent. I've been in the bar/restaurant industry for 8 years and even own my own business (sick brag I know sorry) so I know the difference between a bad night and a bad operation. This? Absolute trainwreck. Drinks? Fine. Views? Gorgeous. But everything else? Trash. Food came out on cafeteria-style trays, glasses were dirty, and our server looked like she wanted to walk off the roof rather than take care of guests. I get that it's Labor Day weekend and nobody wants to work, but wow, that was baddddddd. We slammed our drinks and got out. I came here on a Tuesday night and it was surprisingly packed. The crowd was pretty mixed. Some people were coming from work and some were casually coming in. I didn't care for the appearance of the concrete floor, it was really dirty but the views of the Boston harbor were spectacular. I ordered a French 75 and it was just okay, not typically how I like it, plus it was really foamy, not sure what that was about. I think it's a place to come a catch a vibe before a main event or just chill and vibe. read more

I can't recommend the Envoy Rooftop highly enough! The view is absolutely breathtaking. The food and drinks are consistently excellent. It's rare to find a place where the atmosphere is this stunning and the quality doesn't take a backseat, but they've nailed it. Everything I've tried has been thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Now, if you really want to elevate the experience, book one of the Iceboxes or Igloos. They're incredibly cozy and create this intimate, almost magical atmosphere that's perfect for a romantic date or a special celebration. There's something about being tucked away in your own private space with those views that just hits differently. I have to give a special shoutout to the manager - I had the pleasure of chatting with him and 2 of my visits and he's genuinely one of the warmest, most welcoming people you'll meet! read more

We walked in around 4pm, there's a pretty big patio section for walk ins without a reservation so that was nice. Our cocktails were super yummy, I loved my mule with a limoncello twist. Pretty view too watching the boats go in and out of the docks. read more

The view is the only good part about this place. You go up the elevator and a man just stares at you and doesn't even ask for your id until you realize. The staff is very nice and polite. The view is incredible, you have a panoramic view of Boston and it feels very upscale. The drinks were a bit of a contradiction. Not super tasty, presentation was underwhelming, and I was really surprised how can a $20 dollar drink came in a plastic cup. I can't comprehend. The Call Your Mum cocktail was not super delicious, as the ingredients might suggest, and the citric acid was too much, my lips got a little burned from it. Waited in line for 10 minutes. Despite them closing at 11:30, they started telling people at 10:35 that if they don't check our ID by 10:40, they wouldn't let us in. I thought this would mean that they would look at people's IDs quickly, but instead the bouncer (he said his name is Julian) spent the rest of the time flirting with girls coming in before closing the line in front of us. Good Music and Good drinks . Bartenders were friendly and fast Standing area has some tables and warming lamps There are areas to sit but you need reservations and it seems full. View of the city is great ... I went right before sunset. I saw pictures there at night and it's stunning as well. I wanted to bring my friend to a special place for dinner for her birthday, and I had always wnted to try this place, it looks so nice when you see it from the ground and you can tell it has great views! I was shocked that I had to pay 75$ just to reserve a table. This was non-refundable and did not count towards the price of food. Then I saw that the food was pretty inexpensive, so I thought maybe it was to make up for the cost of the reservation. It didn't make sense to me though because the difficulty and cost of the reservation made me think it must be very elegant, but the menu seemed like simple bar food Now that I have been there, I get it! It is actually a very trendy bar where lots of young people hang out. Most of them are standing in the bar area, but you can basically rent a table/seating area for two hours (prices vary by the size) and drink and get some snacks if you want. The 75$ and strict time table must be so people don't just sit there and take up the seats all night drinking. They also have a policy that they take the card you are going to use to pay and keep it until you leave, to make sure you actually pay. I am sure there is good reason for this but it did make me LOL! So not what I expected. Still, it was fun seeing where the young people go for fun and feeling hip for a few hours. The food was simple but good, and our waitress was very nice. I wouldn't come back for dinner because it cost too much between the reservation and the parking. Envoy is cool hotel. I've had the opportunity to stay there and the rooms are trendy and comfortable. Good restaurant in the hotel as well. This review is just for the rooftop though. Been up there a few times. Weekend nights - the place is an bad, packed, outdoor night club with no dance floor. Weekend days - still crowded but not shoulder to shoulder at least, and a mixed crowd of ages and such. The view is nice - nicer at night. The Boston skyline has a few spots that are recognizable and this is one of them. You can see 180 degrees down the water from Aquarium to the Intercontinental hotel. The drinks are expensive and they aren't using top shelf liquor. My margarita tasted like college dive bar tequila and not much else. $20. There is seating but you can't get there unless you agree to a $50 minimum. Steep. Otherwise the open area is standing only with some bar height tables and bench tables against the railing to at least put a drink down. This could be a really great spot. With a little attention to things - I think guests might stick around for two or three drinks. As it is - no seats, cheap liquor for a high price, LOUD music - it was one and done for us. Unless we have visitors from out of town who want to go - not sure I'll be back. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Horriblely rude manager. Bouncer told us to sit wherever and suggested around the corner towards the fire. A group was getting up and told us to take their seat- they had already paid. Once we sat, a short man came up, around 5'3, and told us we had no etiquette for sitting without asking at a table with other drinks on there. He then said we're rude and started lecturing us for our table choice. We offered to move, he then said "no, i just wanted to let you know you were in the wrong." Then a blonde short server came up and was very passive aggressive. We had already closed out at the bar and had said we didn't need drinks. My friend and I went last night. The bartender looked at our licenses for a while and eventually said he wouldn't serve us. We are both 22. We went back out to have them scanned to prove they were real IDs. We were then told they didn't actually have a scanner. The manager then came out and stared at them, bending them and examining them from every angle. this went on for atleast 10 minutes. Despite our efforts to prove they were real, we were turned away because "something about them is off." The licenses are from CT because we just moved here, and she even pulled up pictures of CT licenses to compare to. If you are from anywhere other than Mass, they may turn you away. Most of the reviews are accurate. Went on a Saturday mid-afternoon and thankfully we had reservations. Immediately after the elevator doors open, it is loud like a club. We had to walk thru a crowd which looked as though it was more than 1 bachelorette party group, standing around, drinking and talking. You have no idea where the reserved seats are until you use your shoulder quite often to get thru the large crowd. Then the Heaven opens up and you breathe a sigh of relief you do not have to stand in that area the whole time. I would suggest eating a large meal before arriving. (Kings bowling is right next door). One of the bite sized offerings on the menu was a very small charcuterie bowl with cheese and ham for $20. Food was served prior to COVID, but it was not during May 2023. Peanuts and olives are available also. On a gorgeous day, the view helps!! Suggest reserving a table and splitting the minimum. This was not the rating I thought I would be giving here. I have had this place on my list of things to do for a while now. I wanted to do the whole igloo thing. So on the site, you click the book and it sends you to open table to book. Upon arriving there they notified me that the igloo is $200+ dollars so all I did was reserve a regular table. Which actually ended up seemingly better than the igloos. So I am not sure what's included with the igloo but it didn't seem like much fun. Hard to see the view and that's the best thing there and what earned this review it's 2 stars. Otherwise, 1 would be it. So we sat a while before getting seen. The waitress wasn't writing anything down which would be great if she didn't keep forgetting things. I had the bacon sandwich thing they have on the brunch menu with a bag of regular chips. $13. Also got a sausage flatbread for $16 it was so small. The French toast tasted like it was unfrozen and drowned in syrup. I had a friend order the Salmon sandwich he wasn't aware the salmon was raw we asked if they could just cook it and the request was shut down so he had to order a whole other thing. He went for the French toast he was disappointed about. I was really expecting better. I wanted to ask for permission to get behind the kitchen to cook myself. I can only compare it to cafeteria food. 12$ shots, $4 ginger ale. It wasn't even 8 ounces. The corona is a can not a bottle. Cans are even sold less than bottles at the store. Wild stuff. The ambiance is nice. It is so beautiful up there. The decoration, the look. It's clean, they have all these heaters inside and out. There is no parking and the garage is $40. They do not validate parking. It was a hefty day out without the reward. There is one more thing that was really weird and drove me crazy. We all like a little "SmashMouth" but no one wants to hear song after song of them. Why, do you ask? The best thing about Lookout is the atmosphere, killer views of the harbor and a laidback clubby vibe. Service is good too. Our wait service was split amongst many women so that we were never ignored. The drinks themselves were fine. I had a mix of gin and white wine that tasted a bit weak and did not have a pronounced flavor. (Weaker cocktails are A-OK in my book though). I believe you can reserve tables here but we did not need to and did not try. If you are in the area, or staying at the Envoy hotel, I think Lookout is a good choice when the weather permits you to be outdoors. Definitely at least come by if you are new to Boston and want to literally see the city. read more

It is what we expected as far as service- we ordered our drinks at the bar and the couches were first-come-first-serve. Not sure why anyone would willingly go here. The drinks start at $20 and they're all made with premixed mixers. They're awful; poor quality, bad taste, and way too expensive. The staff are insanely rude as well. Apparently you need a reservation at overpriced lounge seats just to STAND near the railing. The only other place to stand is near the bar in the middle of the rooftop, no seat, no standup tables, no railing to even hang near, and zero view to enjoy. What's the point of going to a rooftop when all you can look at are the elevators, the sides of a building, and the bartender? Absolutely ridiculous amount of needless pretentiousness at this place.
