This is one of the worst nightclubs I have ever been to. There was a pretty popular DJ playing here that I was ecstatic to see, so I bought tickets in advance to go see them. It was also one of the official afterparties for Breakaway Mass. The ticket I purchased was also for "floor standing" btw. Little did I know that the "floor" I was expecting to be on when I purchased my ticket online was actually the entire vip area that was barricaded. So the actual dance floor where the DJ is, is ridiculously far from common areas that it just made it hard to enjoy. If that's how it was going to be, AT LEAST PUT THAT SOMEWHERE???? I never would have gone and wasted my time in the first place!! Extremely misleading. At least it was only $25. If you weren't in VIP, you had to be above the stairs next to the bar area and the sofas where there's even less space! Additionally, the crowd here is weak and rude. The workers seemed rude too. Everybody, including those on the dance floor were just standing and going on their phones, not a single person dancing. You needed a wristband to go down to the vip area, and I also noticed only a certain type of person was getting wristbands to go down there *cough cough* ANYWAYS, this was my first impression of Boston nightlife and it was clearly not a good one. At least this subpar experience was good for one thing: it's made me realize how ever-so grateful I am to be a socal resident where nightlife is much better and I will never take it for granted again so thank you :) read more

I had drank my drink and thought the alcohol was a little low and asked if she could remake it. Instead of gently declining she said all the staff are required to pour a certain amount of liquor per drink and out of curiosity I asked what that amount was. She took it for attitude and asked "why, are you a bartender"... She then asked who made my drink and I pointed at a bartender on the other end then she took a stray pen and THREW IT at another bartender's head then ushered for them to come over. The bartender started whispering in their coworkers ear and for a good five minutes they stared at me, giggling, not acknowledging my request and mocked me as if we're back in high school... Later in the night my friend orders a round of shots and that same bartender who made it gave her attitude as well. The Grand, if you're going to hire High School staff, at this point just invite teenagers then. I went to the Grand for a formal event. The bouncer on duty was extremely rude and disrespectful to my friends and me for no apparent reason. We were polite, cooperative, and not causing any issues, yet were treated with hostility and attitude from the start. It completely ruined our night and left a bad impression of the club. Staff should be trained to handle guests with basic respect, and this experience fell far below that standard. Not only did this bouncer treat my friends and me with disrespect, but it was clear that multiple other guests at the event experienced the same unnecessary and aggressive behavior. We attended an Harvard-Yale game after party at The Grand! The dance floor seemed spacious and the VIP couch areas were very comfortable. We had enough space to comfortably drink & dance without being on top of each other. I loved that our VIP area had an outlet - we took turn charging our phones throughout the event! They also had so very cute areas for pictures. I'm not sure I'd come out for a regular night but I would def come back if a group I knew rented it out. read more

Assaulted by a security guard here this weekend and management did nothing about it. A police report was made and shared with management where the guard admitted to putting his hands on me (a woman). When I reached out to the venue to discuss getting a refund due to the fact that I could not enjoy the show as I was speaking with police officers about the incident, I was denied a refund. Our opinion of The Grand started off ok and then got worse throughout the night. This place was packed packed packed. We had a decent experience getting in since we arrived an hour after doors for our event opened (Austin Millz). We were permitted to keep our coats instead of checking them, and the wristbands we were given also include a 33% off coupon for Happy Valley. Inside, we were told a tequila shot is $15 each. One vodka cran and one vodka redbull cam out to $33 before tip. Service was decent, and we went to dance. 3 full hours after doors (9:30) the dj came at about 12:30. By this point we couldn't dance comfortably because the floor was packed body to body. We stayed for a bit and then left, underwhelmed. Outside the grand we saw multiple people puking which was the cherry on top of a pretty grand let down. The fresh air was especially nice since it didn't smell of BO. Tip: wear a long-sleeve top so you don't feel strangers' sweaty skin on yours. There won't be room to avoid it. read more

The worst part, though, was the billing issue. If you're reserving a table, double-check your bill--ours had nearly $500 in unauthorized charges. When we tried to get it corrected, the staff suddenly pretended they couldn't hear us over the music, and would leave for 15 minutes at a time. It took over an hour to get our actual bill. Was grabbed by the collar and then pushed by the male bouncer at the bathroom while waiting for my gf bc. Had both our phones since she had no pockets so I didn't want to be far/out of sight in such a crowd. Threatened to kick me out for waiting outside the men's bathrooms (not sure why I was targeted as other people were converging outside the bathroom) Moved to the bar where hopefully my gf could find me which she miraculously did. Then accidentally bumped into a female bouncer trying to leaving the bar with a round of drinks and while profusely apologizing as we were getting pushed against the bar by other patrons while attending the 50 cent concert (mind you it was packed shoulder to shoulder and had had a round of drinks knocked out of my hands by someone shoving to get to the dance floor and still paid full price for new drinks) got kicked out cause "i wasn't "watching where I was going" according to the woman. She was very unprofessional and refused to give her name and tried manhandling me to the elevator. The club itself is no where near as nice as other places around the block, So many better options and next door at the Scorpion has way nicer staff. Went to see 50 Cent concert tonight it took 3 hours for him to come out and he only stayed out for 15 minutes. Drinks were expensive, it was insanely crowded, and I got so sick of seeing the girls parading through the building on guys shoulders with signs saying happy birthday. I paid $100 to see 50 cent I don't give a shit about all these peoples birthdays. This was a big bummer for me. Why host a concert where they only perform for 15 minutes. What a joke. read more

Went here for Jon Taffer's Browned Butter Bourbon launch party and the food was DEVINE! Lots of finger food options including, shrimp cocktail with mango chutney, beef teriyaki skewers, bacon wrapped scallops, lobster rolls, chicken lettuce wraps, pork lettuce wraps, zucchini fritters, cheese and tater tot fritters, Brie and fig tarts and Kobe beef sliders. Incredibly unacceptable attitude from the bouncers who turned me away and withheld my REAL ID based off of a visual check (they pretended to scan it) - note that this is a federal crime. The only way I got it back was by begging and showing a picture of my passport. Secondly, I proceeded to watch the bouncers take bribes on multiple occasions. Absolutely unacceptable, this venue does not invest in the training of their staff which is why it's one of the lowest rated clubs in Boston. read more

In A Nutshell: -The Grand club in Seaport is a great place to catch your favorite DJ. -The club is a decent size w/ one medium sized dancefloor surrounded by VIP tables. -The main bar was easy to order drinks from. -There is also an elevated lounge area w/ it's own bar that wasn't too crowded. -The sound systems is legit w/ deep bass & crystal clear sounds. -Security was good, enforced make sure you behave. Scary reviews! The Grand is worth checking out but definitely not my favorite club in Boston. Pros: I came to see Benny Benassi and it was pretty awesome. We came early because I wanted to see the size/layout of the club and it's pretty nice. New and shiny. Beers were $8, bar service was fine, and there was plenty of space because it was a Monday show. The show was great! He came on around 12:30 and played till 2am. The lights and sound were excellent. Cons: $30 for cover (prepaid), $50 at the door, so...robbery! The dance floor is soooo teeny tiny. There is a ton of VIP space but this dance floor makes Royale look ENORMOUS. It's ridiculous. Security is a little heavy, there were guys everywhere. A girl was pushing my bf because she wanted more space in the area we were standing in. He asked her to stop and she immediately said she would get him kicked out and called security. The guard came over and our interaction was kinda interesting. He wasn't overly aggressive or trying to force us to leave. He did ask us to move away from her and seemed to realize that the girl was trying to get us kicked out. After reading the other reviews I'm guessing this is a rare case. I would come back for shows but my favorite clubbing spot is Royale! read more

I wished I saw reviews prior going there. If you want to get trauma or harassed by security for no reason, you will experience that, almost guaranteed! Bully miserable bouncers all over the place and no decent floor to dance. Music is too loud but seriously the entire place felt like a prison. Great spot to go to if you're looking to dance your ass off otherwise if you're looking for just drinks probably not the best spot. It's a little tight on the dance floor but as long as it's you and your significant other you can throw some bows and make it work. I am a little surprise at all the bad reviews! This place is certainly not perfect, but my friends and I thought it was worth $40 for a fun night out different from the usual Boston scene. They do have quite a few security guards trying to keep people moving and I can see how they could come across as a little too extra. The DJ was great and the dance floor was super fun for a night out with a group of friends. The drinks are way overpriced but that is to be expected for a place like this/Boston. It was getting very rowdy and the bouncers were not doing their jobs. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Insanity is also going to The Grand even once and expecting it to be anything better than a sh*tshow of power-hungry bouncers, sad parades of bottle service, and overly aggressive people crammed onto a dance floor the size of my closet. I have been here 4 times total, each time hoping my love for the performing DJ will outweigh the horrendous venue. Each time I am sorely disappointed. The bouncers are forceful and rude, but so is the majority of the crowd. Because the VIP tables take up almost all of the dance floor, there is a constant "line" for general admission to get onto it, and by line I mean a pushing mass continuously shoving forward and being shoved backwards by the bouncers. Once you are finally on the dance floor, the atmosphere is just as bad. The crowd here is consistently the rudest I have experienced in Boston. One saving grace is the lights, as they are high quality and have cool effects. Drinks are overpriced and unpleasant to taste. If you have a table or are VIP, you will most likely have a fine time here. But if you are general admission, good luck. read more

My large group of friends and I went to visit the Grand on 9/15 to see Vicetone. The check in process was smooth around 10PM and there were no security issues or issues getting in. We were able to get drinks easily at the bar ($16/cocktail, $10/beer). However, as the night went on and it became more trafficked, the issues with this club became more apparent due to which I cannot recommend it and wouldn't go back. If it weren't for these mishaps, the Grand would have been a great NYC and Vegas style club! People will aggressively PUSH you when you're on the dance floor as it is SMALL and overpacked. The icing on the cake: you cannot go to the bathroom and return back to the dance floor unless you're VIP. There is a line to get on the dance floor itself, on top of the line that built up to get into the club by midnight. So, you're on a line and then another line. I spoke to the security guard when I was heading as I was at the front row and he said "you're good", he'll let me back in through the line. When I finished used the bathroom, there was a different security guard who said No, I can't go back to the dance floor where all my friends were. So I was stuck there for the next 1.5 hours on a line waiting to get back in, and I still didn't at that point, so we all left early before the headliners came out. There should be separate lines to let newcomers come to the dance floor and to let people back in after using the restroom. Lastly, no one checked vaccine cards like their website states. Had the worst experience with a bartender here. I was waiting in line to get a drink and this guy cut in front of me. He then tried to order a drink and I told him "hey you cut in front of me, you're behind me, go back." He apologized and when I was about to order my drink the bartender told me I was being "too aggressive", which I responded by saying the guy literally cut in front of me how is that fair?? She was like "I'm a competent person I can serve more than two people at the same time." And I was like "I've never been to a bar where a bartender helps two people at the same time" and she said "you go to shitty bars"... she then proceeds to help the other guy calling him "hun" and being real sweet to him. WTFFF!? When she gave me back my check to sign, she gave me a crappy pen than leaked all over my shirt as well. Look, I'm not one to play the race card ever but I felt like she was pushing her micro aggressions on me and would rather help and support the sweet looking white boy over the POC. I then returned to get another drink and was being helped by another bartender. I explained the situation to her because I was so frustrated and she apologized profusely and offered me a free drink. Only reason why this place gets 2 stars. Anyways, most of the staff here are rude. Don't get me wrong I understand the need to be aggressive because you're dealing with a bunch of drunk people at a nice club but still, have respect for people that aren't doing anything wrong. read more

I never write bad reviews about a club. I always have a good night out but this is absolutely ridiculous. I've been to the grand many times before with friends and this is the first time this has happened they need proper bouncers. I waited in line for 1 hour even though I was on the guest list when I finally got to the front the bouncer Said my id wasn't me? I'm 22 years old . So upset I showed three other forms of verification said no and laughed made me wait outside in the freezing cold . I was on the guest list they let my friends go in and made me wait outside. Just tell me that I couldn't go in. Didn't even ask me any questions about what was on my ID or anything they just didn't want me to go in . Never coming back . This place is awful don't even waste your time . I called the cops to come to scan my face which is ridiculous. The drinks are insanely overpriced and you also can't even get on the dance floor. The bouncers treat you like absolute shit, and just push you and shove you to get you out of the way even if you're just standing there by the bar area . I wasn't even treated like a person here never coming back. Also on my way out after i finally got in by having the cops come one of the bouncers that didn't let me in said I was very pretty and that he "wanted to let me in" like what? Go big or go home! Boston finally has a Vegas style club! This night club has a fancy and upscale vibe to it that I like that's unique from the other clubs in Boston. The Grand is located in Seaport district, so it is a little out of the way from the other nightclubs, but there are some good restaurants and bars nearby to pre-game at. I went here with some friends for their opening weekend to see R3hab and we had a blast! We showed up at 11 and they were quickly getting people in so there was barely a wait. Once you get through security and ID check, you can either walk up or take the elevators to go upstairs to where the actually club is. The interior is very eloquent with dark colors, an elaborate sign with their logo once you get in, and cool lighting designs. My friends and I only got GA tickets so I will only comment on that. The dance floor is a bit on the smaller side. Royale's dancefloor is bigger and I think it's roughly about the size of Bijou's dancefloor. Yes, you will feel squashed on all sides around midnight because there are a lot of people, but that happens at all clubs. What I really like about the dancefloor are the visuals and sound system. They have beautiful massive HD visual screen all over the dancefloor in addition to a very crisp and powerful surround sound system that really intensifies your experience. Also, I like that the DJ booth is really close to the crowd and not super far away so you can feel close to your favorite artists. Also, the roof moves! Kinda anway. They have lights that change colors that move up and down and it creates this wavely sort of look. I really think the Grand really revitalizes the night scene in Boston. They're going to make all the other clubs step up their game. They had Hardwell, R3hab, and Steve Aoki performing on their opening week so I was impressed by that. read more

This place is small but I think coming from nyc I expected a lot out of it. This is right below our building so always wanted to try it. There is always long lines outside. We bought tickets for cash cash and we went in 15 mins and we are out, cash cash want even out. It is beautiful from outside and as you enter they you arrive or see dance floor straight which is so tiny and dj set. They have so much of space for table services.
